Planned Parenthood - Asheville Health Center

I came to simply check in on everything and discuss a possible abortion, I get there and the receptionist decides to explain the abortion process very loudly in the middle of the crowded waiting room (right after i signed a hippa agreement) as if it was set in stone thats what I was doing when I hadnt even made that decision yet, I was absolutely mortified and just turned around and left crying. Abortion is nothing to be embarrassed about but something about the entire room thinking I was dead set on it really affected me. It was incredibly unprofessional and honestly just rude.

Unreliable and Unacceptable Mistake: Beware if you are in a vulnerable or time sensitive situation.My close friend made an appointment for an IUD/Removal and Replacement online and called day of to confirm the appointment. We live in another state and were relying on this day and pre-planned having time off of work, travel buffer, and so on which Planned Parenthood advertises as being a safe and reliable service. They called shortly after an employee confirmed the appointment and told her that they close before her appointment time at 4:30 and rescheduled it a month out. This is absolutely unacceptable for the detrimental services provided and patients need to be aware that this location is not to standard with PPs mission and values currently.Mistakes happen but this is not something I felt comfortable being okay with and not at least alerting other vulnerable people potentially traveling to Asheville. We have a rescheduled appointment and I myself need a removal and replacement, we will plan to update this review in accordance with continued experience. Hoping the PP team in Asheville can kindly make it up to us because we are both proud supporters of this organization.

Firstly, don’t bring a support person as they are no longer allowed in the building.Secondly, my procedure was scheduled for 8am. I’m almost 2 hours away so this was a stretch but I made it. Only to sit and wait for NINE hours. What if my support person wasn’t familiar with the area and had to find somewhere to go for 9 hours? Thankfully they were.Thirdly, it’s considered “rare” to end up with any negative outcome from this particular procedure. I ended up with uterine scarring and secondary infertility and it doesn’t surprise me one bit as the dr was rushed and SUPER rough.Lastly, I had to have my blood tested to see if I needed a rhogam shot. I was told I’m rh negative and given the shot. Come to find out my blood type is A+.Get a freakin grip yall. The staff is so nice but I’m convinced no one has any idea what they’re f’ing doing. I stand with planned parenthood…but not this one.

I was suffering with a Bartholin cyst. They were able to get me an appointment when I called and I had the most gentle and patient doctor I’ve ever had. I was dreading this experience and they made it so easy. Angels work here. Thank you all for serving the people of Asheville.

Great organization. Will always support them. Beware the office is FREEZING and the chair arms are metal so it’s crazy cold, don’t dress like it’s summer out, wear a jacket, socks and a hat!

They refused to tie my tubes when I asked them to in my early 20s and also couldnt give me birth control without insurance because they said I made to much money for their discount program at 8.00 an hour. They do not respect womens wishes

Extremely, extremely disappointed with this PP. After 90 minutes of waiting after my appointment time, they came in to tell me there were still several people ahead of me and it was going to be a while. This was after I called specifically to make the appointment for what they call multiple things which is typically all done in one appointment at a regular doctor. The person I spoke with when I called said it would be no problem but as soon as I checked in that said no. Also, your appointment time means nothing as they take people back based on when the arrive not their appointment time. Appointments are also only 10 mins per the schedule. No wonder they are backed and not on time. No one here can knows how to manage. I also believe because I am a traditional white female they were less inclined to care about me. Each person I spoke with was non-caring as on the outside I must not be someone they claim they want to help. As someone who has gone to several PP as a way to support their mission of human rights, Im take taken a back at the lack of care at this location. I guess I wont be supporting them any longer. No wonder we are losing the fight. If the side you are trying to help wont help you, there is no need for them.

After 35 years of being a patient with PP I will be removing myself from this fiasco!!! NEVER ,in the years of my personal wellness , have I been treated with such disrespect . These people answering the phone dont know how to run their own clinic and have tons of condescending remarks to make while wasting your time.It disgusts me that Ive literally lived in 4 different states with no issues from other PP, but wow I moved here and got a real slap in the face ...unprofessional and insensitive every single time. No more. Im done !!!

Had such a great experience here! Very grateful for this place and the services and support they provide. Lane made me feel very comfortable because I was so nervous for my appointment, she is an angel in the medical field and honestly probably the best service from a medical provider I have ever received. Was quick and easy procedure.

When you arrive early in the morning, you may see 4 or 5 protesters outside.. so I suggest pulling in through the back parking lot if you don’t want to make eye contact with them. Even if you do, don’t worry because Planned Parenthood not only has police security, but they also have volunteers who also walk you safely from your car into the doors. Upon arriving I felt super welcomed- The staff made me feel more like a friend and less like a patient.. If you aren’t financially stable, then they will work out a payment plan with you. If you live out of the state, then they will even help you find transportation. No extra guests are aloud to come inside, (unless they are helping with a payment.. )Which is understandable because they are protecting our anonymity. They have 2 waiting rooms, one out front and one in the back. The waiting room in the back has snacks and refreshments along with therapeutic adult coloring books (my favorite hobby) Plus colored pencils .. The staff really treated me like a friend and even shared a lot of personal things about their self, ultimately gaining my trust in them and the services they provide.. Plus you can volunteer there in your free time to show your support..So thank you to all of you at planned parenthood!!I would give you 10 stars if I possibly could!!

Top quality care, super friendly staff, relaxing atmosphere, great music and very clean! I went for an abortion appointment. First off wonderful staff helped me to the doors. Where more kind people helped get me checked in, tested, and get seen by the doctor. Everything was explained so clearly all options covered. The staff helped me feel calm and listened to during my visit! There was great music and noises machines to help maintain the mood. The nurse who stayed with me was wonderful and helped me feel safe and in control. The recovery and waiting rooms are very nice with lovely amenities to use. I would highly suggest using this clinic to anyone and everyone! It felt like a very safe space!10/10 careThank you to all the staff who helped me today! This was one of the most helpful visits I’ve ever had at a planned parenthood. Immediately I was asked my name and pronouns, the person who’d been training under Holly, Avery was super helpful and reassured me that my needs would be met and my care was the most important thing we talked about. They made me feel human and everyone had been so kind and helpful. I got the care I needed and thanks to Avery and Holly, I felt comfortable, safe, cared for, understood, and really felt like they answered every question I had and made my nervous day less nervous. They gave me great information and tools fit for my life. 100/100 would go back and would send anyone else here!

Supporting local PP is important to me, but after having an important appointment rescheduled on me 4 times over the coarse of a month drove me to post this review. I understand that staffing and patient safety are important, but the process of having an appointment booked and completed at this location is a joke - all at the patients expense.

The staff here is absolutely incredible! I felt more comfortable here than I ever have at my OBGYN, everyone from the volunteers outside to the doctors are so compassionate and you can tell they really care about you and your health. The wait wasnt any longer than I expected it to be considering how busy they stay, I would definitely recommend them to anyone. They will help you in whatever way they can. I cant say enough good things about this place!

I just wanna say that during one of the hardest days of my life, the staff here made me feel so comfortable and accepted. i fell in love with avery and i honestly don’t think i could’ve gotten thru it without them. such an amazing human.

This facility is incredible. I cannot say enough good things about the staff. From the moment I arrived, there were volunteers outside to usher me and ensure my safety. The facility is very clean and as cozy as a medical office can be. Every person I met was so patient and knowledgeable. I felt like I could ask any question without judgement. During a scary time in my life, they offered me love, kindness, and an abundance of knowledge. There’s not a single lady in there who doesn’t have your best interest at heart. I truly cannot say enough good things about Planned Parenthood.

This so the best experience I’ve ever had when having to be seen for reproductive health. I was nervous going in but the staff made me feel extremely comfortable and welcomed. I was impressed with their commitment to care without judgement and with all respect and kindness. The staff was professional and kind; discussed prices with me before appointment started and informed me of what was happening along the way. Highly recommend

The most safe Ive ever felt at any doctors office. The staff was welcoming and respectful. They asked my pronouns right away and ive never been asked that, even as a cis woman it was very nice and refreshing! They were super informative and thorough. The midwife I saw for my wellness visit was extremely kind, and helped turn a usually uncomfy procedure as positive as possible. I will never go to a different gynos office again.

I cannot offer enough praise for this place.In 25 years I have never received such care and attentiveness from a medical facility. I have been here twice now for STI testing and birth control options and each time Ive been treated with compassion and respect. 10/10 lovely staff, clean facility, great medical care.Its also great to see that this facility stands proudly with Black Lives.

In general, the staff was very welcoming, supportive, and kind. Im sure for other services they are more than adequate. But for transgender services, I would not recommend this clinic. I began treatment through them at the end of july/beginning of august. I was given one months worth of medication, zero refills, and told to come back in three months. Not a word was mentioned about what I should do for medicine for the other two months. The doctor forgot (I use quotes because Im no longer willing to give them the benefit of the doubt) to send my refills to the pharmacy.It took over a week and a half of calling, giving them an alternative pharmacy, and begging every day for help. Every day, I was told it would be taken care of. And the next day, Id get a text from the pharmacy saying I still had no refills, or from the other that my prescription had not been sent to them, or the doctor had not responded to their calls either. And when I called PP back, Id be told theyd take care of it. The next day, same thing all over again, with the same promise that theyd sort it out. It took 8 days to finally get a prescription that a pharmacy could fill. When I finally spoke to the doctor, she was unconcerned, told me Id be fine without my medication for a little while, and also lied to me and said she had sent the refills at beginning of the August. I have proof from the first pharmacy that I never had any refills. More proof that they contacted her for over a week and she never responded. I also tried speaking to the health center manager about this mess, and she was dismissive and uninterested my problems. She was less interested in hearing what I had to say and more interested in getting me off the phone.I have been ignored, handwaved away, and lied to, repeatedly. I have no confidence in this clinic and dont feel safe getting my treatment from them. At every step of trying to get my medication straightened out, it felt like everyone I spoke to was more interested in getting me to shut up and go away than actually helping me. So I will oblige them of this. I am never coming back to this clinic again. I regret ever going.UPDATE: I couldnt make this up if I tried. They called me today, two months after making the mess above, finally following up on my pharmacists messages. Over 2 months after I begged them every day for over a week for help, they finally get around to answering the messages from the pharmacies. Of course, Id have to go back for lab work first. The last time I went in for lab work, they did the bare minimum almost a month after they were supposed to, dragging their feet the whole time. I distinctly remember being told the doctor was taking an extended weekend so Id have to sit tight till tuesday. Would HIV patients be expected to wait an extra week for their treatment? They only give a damn about patients when they can make some money off of them. Unbelievable.

The kindness i experienced here is next to none! From setting an appointment from TN to NC, to pulling into the parking lot, I was immediately escorted in by employees, to check in, to intake, to education with the medical assistant, and finally the doctor and support nurse that provided me with the most efficient and gentle care ever. Thank yall for making such a difficult experience so easy. Thank you for what you do!

Everyone here was amazing, helpful, and inclusive. Especially one of the CMAs Jenni, she was just great. Highly recommend, this facility will take care of you. Also, they just started offering plan B to anyone, including people who arent patients, for just 20 dollars! This place really cares about their community.

Highly recommend. The staff takes the time to educate, comfort if needed and are some of the most caring people I have ever met. They offer a wide variety of womens health care and you can tell they care about their patients!

Great place with friendly staff!! Ive been a patient here for about 10 years and Im always pleased with their services. Ive found the wait time comparable to other doctors offices (though Im sure it can vary depending on what youre being seen for). Its also worth mentioning that I do not have insurance, and PP has been very affordable. I highly recommend this location!

I was nervous about my first annual exam and the PP staff made me feel so comfortable. They are very kind, respectful, and supportive. I would recommend the asheville planned parenthood to anyone!! The only slightly negative aspect of my visit was a long wait time, but I understand that since they care for so many people.

Very friendly staff but they take forever to even give me my birthcontrol shot and you can never talk to them on the phone unless you want to wait for an hour before somebody picks up. I couldn’t even cancel my appointment. I had to just make another online. They need to get their wait times down, not everybody has all day to sit around and wait two hours to get a 30 second shot. One time I had been waiting in the room for so long for no reason I don’t understand why they didn’t dismiss me that I just walked out and told them I had to go back to work and was leaving and for me to pay them

Decent clinic, mostly friendly staff, and it was a quick and easy in and out.Results came back from blood testing very quickly, only took a couple of days.Only problems were that a nurse interrupted me several times when I would try to speak and that you have to specifically request to be tested for HSV instead of it being included in the general testing panel, they seem to have a very immoral ignorance is bliss mentality when it comes to diseases.

I gave them 4 stars only because that was the longest wait of my life. But all the staff are very caring. Its a clean facility and provide their patients with plenty of snacks and beverages. They make sure your comfortable. I do wish they had more options with pain medication but I would recommend this place for sure

They were really wonderful and understanding, and treated me when (several) other doctors had failed to do so. The only issue is I didnt have insurance and asked them multiple times to give me an idea of how much each test was going to cost. They gave me a pregnancy test, and didnt even tell me. It was $26 and it would have had to be a total miracle conception. (It takes 2... lol. And my tubes are tied.) They also ran other test without telling me, after I said many times I couldnt afford it. My price going in was $200. I brought $300 in case but ended up being charged over $400 because of unnecessary test. The staff is great and they are thorough. Ill be going back but still irritated at lack of communication on testing.

I have no idea why anyone would give this place less than five stars. The staff is lovely and kind and understanding. Ive been coming here for a year and a half now consistently for hrt (my partner and I had been before that too) and have always been treated with respect and compassion. I wish I could see these people for all of my medical needs.

I was a guest to a friend who recently visited here, so I can only speak as someone who did not receive any services. The volunteers outside were wonderful and welcoming. The front desk staff was very very friendly and respectful of both my friend and myself. The facility was clean and comforting. I highly recommend this location.

This place is horrible. I received a NEXPLANON implant and I started experiencing symptoms of PTC (psuedotumor cerebri) which can make you go blind if not treated and many cases are associated with nex. This center refused to work me into the schedule because they do not do emergency removals. They instead wanted me to go online and book an appointment which wasnt for another week. I then tried to go to the ER and was also denied removal. What kind of health care company is this where they dont believe in emergency removals of contraceptives they put in OUR bodies, this should not be okay with women especially when we are the ones taking the risks!!!!

I was very cautious, anxious, and unsure before I arrived and everyone was very kind, welcoming, positive, compassionate, supportive, knowledgeable, etc. It was a very uplifting and comfortable experience.

Sitting here now. Appointment was at 9. TheTime is now 11:43. I had to come back to google to give 5 stars. Besides the longgggg wait, and no meds, these people are great! The doc is a later and i was very scared because of a bad experience at another place but the process here only took 2 to 3 mins of pain and the numb u so u get a little comfort. These people are great! Oh im in recovery and the time is now 1:20

Planned Parenthood has not only saved my sanity on multiple occasions but theyve also saved my life at least twice. This time around they saw me, diagnosed an infection and sent me home with the treatment for no charge because of my income. If I had gone to my normal OBGYN, I would have had to wait a month and pay hundreds of dollars, and by then I would have developed Pelvic Inflammatory Disease. Thanks to Planned Parenthood I was seen soon enough that infection didnt spread. For free, people. FREE.

They really do respect sexual orientation and gender identity. I recommend it for anyone going for sexual/reproductive health or HRT. Theyre very considerate and keep everything confidential. The HRT is is informed consent as well.
