My family has used Dr. Friedell for years. His practice delivered both of my children. What I appreciate so much about this practice is that their team keeps me informed / up-to-date on everything going on. Dr. Friedell has personally met me in the waiting room before and after my wifes procedures to tell me what to expect, how it went, and to ease my mind. The staff has made me feel like they care about my wifes health on a personal level.

Dr. Friedell is exceptional! He made me feel comfortable and at ease throughout the entire visit. What stood out to me the most was that he spent over an hour listening to my concerns and answering all my questions. I felt comfortable moving forward with my procedure which went well with no complications! I highly recommend Dr. Friedell!

I have been a patient of Dr. Stanley Friedell at Northwestern Womens Health Associates., S.C: 680 N. Lakeshore Drive, Suite 1200 Chicago, IL. 60611-8702 since 2022. He was recommended to me by my oncologist at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.Thus far the care I’ve received has been fine. It has mostly been annual checkups. My last annual appointment on Aug. 23, 2023. The checkup lasted about 30 minutes and mainly consisted of a discussion with Dr. Friedell. A month later, I got the bill from Dr. Friedell’s office for a charge described as “preventive visit ages 65 & over and the bill indicated that It would be $250 out of my pocket as it was denied by my Medicare & BCBS insurance. (Medicare paid for few other charges on the bill.) This is the first time I experienced this kind of charge, just because I am over 65 years old (I am 79 years old).I got a phone call from Dr. Friedell’s office on Jan. 30, 2024 at 3:28 pm CST demanding the $250 payment. It was a woman on the other end of the line, I asked her for an explanation of the charge and why I was being charged the amount based on my age as it felt discriminatory. All she said was NO!” I asked whether Dr. Friedell knew about this, and all she said was “Yes. I asked her again whether a patient aged 65 & older should have been told up front about this kind of charge. She said no answer. We exchanged more words for over 10 minutes to no end. Finally, she demanded that I pay $50 in cash to resolve this matter. I begrudgingly agreed to this simply to end this unpleasant experience.Dr. Stanley is nice and friendly but this will be my last time seeing him because of his staff’s rude and unprofessional conduct.

I highly recommend Dr. Friedell and his office. I moved to Chicago from out state in the middle of my pregnancy, and Dr. Friedell took me on as a new patient and did a thorough work-up to ensure he had a full picture of my health. He didnt just rely on another doctors notes. His office staff are friendly and very responsive, and any time I had a question or concern, I was seen the same day or got a quick call back. Dr. Friedell consistently called me personally to talk through results or answer any messages (even if someone else already called) to ensure I felt comfortable and got answers to all my questions. I quickly came to appreciate his direct approach as I always got very clear answers and he made sure I understood his thought process/the whys behind things. This was my first delivery (after multiple rounds of IVF) and my induction and delivery went very smoothly. Im so grateful he was able to move his schedule around to be there to deliver our child. He also made sure Id met the other doctors in the office in the event he wouldnt be there.Dr. Friedell never made me feel badly for asking questions and I never felt rushed. His personal attention as a care giver really builds trust and Im grateful he was our doctor for the delivery of our son.

Dr Friedell was my Dr for both of my deliveries and one of my pregnancies (the first time around I had a different Dr for the pregnancy but Dr Friedell happened to be the Dr on call during my delivery). Honestly- I am so so grateful for Dr Friedell. I had complications during both deliveries and he was amazing. He was competent, patient, reassuring, and listened to me through all of it. The staff respect him and work hard for him. My husband even enjoyed working with him which is not always the case. I can’t say enough about Dr Friedell!

I felt supported throughout my whole pregnancy and Dr. Friedell and his team have always been very responsive. He performed a C-section on me 6 months ago and I couldn’t be happier with my delivery! All went very smoothly. He is very professional and knowledgeable and I never doubted of my choice. Thank you so much! His Nurse Practitioners are also the best! They are very caring.

As a first time Mom, I had extensive questions and concerns. Throughout my entire pregnancy, Dr. Friedell took time at every visit to listen to and address every question I had. He treated me and my husband with respect and compassion as he guided us every step of the way.Thankfully, Dr. Friedell also has a great sense of humor! He even had me laughing during my c section! The surgery was quick and painless and I recovered very quickly!I believe Dr. Friedell took my health as seriously as he would take the health of his own wife or daughter. I knew I was in good hands and couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Hands down, the greatest doctor I’ve ever had. He delivered my first baby via c section and one year later, my scar looks great, I am in great health after having had preeclampsia, and I consider myself so lucky to have found Dr Friedell after moving to Chicago. I recently had my annual exam with Dr Friedell and he called me on a weekend to let me know that he had a last minute conflict during our scheduled time that Monday and he found me a new time that worked for both of us on Monday. During my visit, he was kind, thorough, and explained everything well (as always!) I recommend Dr Friedell to everyone and will continue to do so.

I came to this office looking for a new o.b. to deliver my second baby. I had a great experience with Dr. Friedell. I felt like his level of care was consistently top notch from the beginning of my pregnancy to postpartum. He takes his time listening to you, and is very thorough with labs. He has a ton of experience, and I never felt anxious about anything. Its nice having a Dr. that takes his time with his patients as it is becoming less common these days. I would totally recommend Dr. Friedell!

My birth experience was the exact opposite of what I was hoping for - I imagined going into spontaneous labor and delivering my first child pain medication and intervention free. My baby had another plan - she was 10 days late and I had to be induced. Dr. Friedell and the amazing labor and delivery staff at Prentice had to use nearly every trick in the book to get her out - ending with forceps. Even though things went the opposite of what I hoped for, it was an incredibly powerful and positive experience. Dr. Friedell encouraged me and coached me through the whole process, providing expert counsel and ultimately delivering my baby safely (and without a c-section!). I was so impressed and grateful for the care provided on delivery day. I will say Dr. Friedell persona during office visits vs in the labor and delivery room are very different - during our monthly/weekly appointments he was very to the point, matter of fact but I realize now that’s because he’s in back to back appointments while also delivering babies. I would absolutely recommend him to any new mom.

Dr. Friedell is wonderful. For my general care and throughout my pregnancy, I felt like I was in the best hands. He listens and takes the time to answer questions, and I trust his judgment. Really a wonderful doctor. I recommend him and this practice highly!!

Dr Friedell delivered my first baby. I am glad I chose him to be my doctor. He is very professional and knowledgeable. During the whole pregnancy I felt safe and taken care of. The delivery was just a breeze, which was a big surprise for me. He made sure everything was OK with me and the baby by following up in person the next day. I want to thank Dr Friedell and his stuff for great pregnancy experience!

I am so thankful that I chose Dr. Friedell as my Dr. for my first pregnancy. First off, I had searched online to read reviews on different sites to find a delivering OB Dr. about a year ago and I can say I made the best decision to pick Northwestern Womens Health. Not only was Dr. Friedell personable, the guy has been doing this a long time and knows his stuff. He went above and beyond to be the Dr. to deliver my baby boy when he was going out of the country the next day. The baby came earlier then expected and even though I was super scared, I felt comfortable that it was Dr. Friedell as my OB bc he always made sure to keep myself and our baby boy healthy. We also had an experience with Dr. Dunn (another Dr. in the practice) the rest of the week in Prentice and she was also awesome.

During my initial consultation, Dr. Friedell had already reviewed my medical history and spent considerable time speaking with me. I found him to be thorough, caring and extremely competent.. I was impressed with his follow up calls on the weekend and after business hours. I required a surgical procedure which was clearly explained to me and was successfully completed. I appreciated Dr. Friedells high level of care and involvement. Highly recommend!

Doctor Friedell is the best gynecologist I have ever had. He is very knowledgeable, thorough, and truly cares about his patients. On several occasions he personally called me back with test results on a weekend or during his vacation. Last month, Dr Friedell helped me to avoid a surgery (D&C) when my IVF doctor was insisting on it, due to a non-viable pregnancy. He is truly wonderful.

Initially there was a scheduling mixup but the staff (Paulina) was so helpful. She quickly tried to rectify the mistake and get me an appointment with Dr. Friedell ASAP!!!! Dr. Friedell even knew about the incident when i went in for my consult! He is very involved and knows what is happening. He is an amazing doctor!!!! He was patient and kind. He answered all my questions ( there were a lot!!!). He answered all my husbands questions as well. In terms of diagnosis he was very precise. He made me feel confident and at ease. I highly recommend this doctor!!! Couldn’t be happier.

As a doc myself, I can not give Dr. Friedell (and Dr. Feldstein, plus the rest of the group) enough high praise. Dr. Friedell is thorough, extremely knowledgeable, responsive and thoughtful. Do not be mistaken by his quiet and prompt bedside manner; he is diligent and on top of things. He always leaves room for questions and never fails to follow up. When it came time to deliver, he was so attentive and kind. My delivery had unexpected circumstances, and he was beside me throughout the process, including for unforeseen surgery which he had to cancel his morning clinic to perform. He was clear that the safety of my child and I were his top priority and it was palpable. I will forever be thankful to him. He is an outstanding physician! I can not say enough terrific things about him and how he handled my pregnancy, my delivery and everything that came up along the way.

If you value your time and not having to take a whole day off to receive an annual exam go elsewhere. Ive been a patient of Dr. Friedells for a few years and every single appointment he was always behind, like over an hour behind, on appointments. Hes never adjusted his intake questions to accommodate for appointments that have more concerns its always the same song and dance. You might arrive on time but have to wait over an hour to see him and its not communicated? Unacceptable. I left my appointment and he called to follow up with me, but that call was a barrage of excuses and him talking over me. Do you want to be talked over by your doctor? Probably not.

After spending the winter in Florida and me being pregnant, my husband and I decided that it was best to move back to Chicago. Prior to our return, I received a referral of two doctors from a close friend of mine, and after some online research I decided to go with a very capable man named Dr. Friedell. After making initial contact with him, I faxed him my medical records and I was pleasantly surprised how quickly we were contacted by Dr. Friedell to let us know that we would now be under his care upon my return to Chicago. As I was already at thirty-one weeks in my pregnancy, one can imagine my relief at receiving this phone call. From this moment we knew that we were in good hands. It was very reassuring indeed.From the beginning my pregnancy went very smoothly. And then at 36 weeks we discovered that our baby was breech. I had hoped all along to avoid giving birth by Caesarean Section unless of course it was completely necessary. Luckily Dr. Friedell was on hand to explain and walk us through all the options that were available to us.Through careful consideration and from examination of Dr. Friedell’s previous success rate in dealing with similar situations to ours we decided to go with his recommendation, a procedure called an External Cephalic Version. I’m glad we did.It was a complete success. I will be forever grateful to Dr. Friedell for his sound advice.Even on the night of my daughter’s delivery, and when my labor progressed very quickly indeed, there was no guarantee that Dr. Friedell would be there in attendance but he made it with plenty of time to spare to deliver her safely.Hands down this was a wonderful experience with a very capable competent and caring doctor. Due to the diligence and professionalism displayed by Dr. Friedell I highly recommend him.

Probably the best gyno in this state.... I had a pretty rare condition that called for surgery. Dr. Friedell knows his facts and then some. I have never been in the best care any time Ive been to the doctor. Some people complain about his bedside manner but hes not there to coddle you, hes there to give you the most outstanding care and make sure everything is functioning right down there. Hes super knowledgeable as well as his friendly staff. It doesnt bother me to wait either because I know hes making sure to do his job right with every patient! I would never even consider going anywhere else unless he reccommended it!

Dr Friedell is involved in each patients pregnancy as if it were his own. The attention, the time he spends answering questions and guidance throughout the pregnancy was unmatched. He also helped a ton to make a challenging delivery as smooth as possible.

Dr Friedell delivered my first baby. I am glad I chose him to be my doctor. He is very professional and knowledgeable. During the whole pregnancy I felt safe and taken care of. Everything went well for first 20 weeks of my pregnancy, but during 20th week ultra sound checkup, the results showed early cervical dilation.The doctors provided me the details of my situation and asked me to immediately get admit into the hospital for an emergency cerclage. Though Dr. Friedell was not available that day, he followed up with the staff to make sure that the emergency cerclage went fine.He called up around 10 PM after we were back to our recovery room and made sure that I was fine. He came to the hospital early morning around 7.30 AM next day and made sure everything was fine and procedure was holding up well. He provided the support and confidence, that everything is fine and we have to try and make it till 32 weeks for a healthy baby.He did weekly appointments and made sure that me and my baby girl are doing fine.Thankfully, I made it till 38 weeks and he was very happy that the emergency cerclage worked and the baby is in position for delivery. On the delivery day, I had water break in the morning and admitted to the hospital. Everything was going fine till there was a sudden fall in my babys heartbeat. With in no time, his staff moved me to OR for an emergency C-section. I don’t have any idea of whats going on in the OR and was worried as my husband was still getting dressed to get into OR.But Dr. Friedell dashed into the OR and appeared from no-where and said Hey Lakshmi, I am here. don’t worry, we are doing an emergency c-section”. In the next 10 mins, one of the nurse told me, you have a little baby girl and she is doing perfectly fine.The doctor is stitching you up and you are perfectly fine.Oh!that moment, I felt like I took a rebirth.He followed up in person every day for next 4 days, after my delivery and made sure that me and my baby are fine. Thank you so much Dr. Friedell and his staff for taking such an excellent care of me and my baby through out my pregnancy.I am going to him for my next pregnancy as well. I would strongly recommend him as an excellent gynaec.

I recently had to have a minor girly surgery, and my longtime OB/GYN referred me to Dr. Friedell, as he no longer did this type of surgery. From the first moment I met Dr. Friedell, I was very impressed with how seriously he took my case, even though I am sure he does typically much more complicated procedures. He took the time to read my entire chart, and researched all my past operations so he would have as much information about my medical history as possible - I really felt like a rock star. He explained the procedure in detail and answered all my questions. A great deal of care went into planning the operation and explaining how to prepare. The day of the operation everything went as smoothly as possible and everyone on the entire surgical team was wonderful. I came out of the operation without any complications and everything went exactly as he had explained. If I were having a baby or needed care in the future I wouldnt hesitate to go to Dr. Friedell again. He takes great pride in his work, and I was really touched when he thanked me for allowing him to care for me and handle my operation. You can put your faith in him!

Dr. Friedell delivered both of our children and we had such a smooth and pleasant experience both times. Dr. Friedell and all of the other doctors and nurses at his office were extremely kind, professional and flexible during the pregnancies and deliveries. I would recommend Dr. Friedell hands down.

I put time and effort into looking for a Doctor because of the struggle of going through IVF. My primary Dr was Dr. Friedell. I looked at his experience and the years he had been in the field. Being my first pregnancy I didn’t know what to expect. He was very direct and took his time with me. The wait was a little long but the best usually is. He was very straight forward and that could be scary but when it was time for me to deliver my explanation comes short to any words or review I could write or say. It was his ship and he sure knows how to sail it. He was calling the nurses as I waited for his arrival. The nurses listened to his instructions making me feel more at ease. I realized this Doctor is all about his patient and the baby. He really pushes for the nurses and staff to give you the best of care. I couldn’t believe how much attention he was giving my delivery because everyone one I spoke with said their Dr only came into deliver and left. Not him he was on the phone while on his way and while I was in delivery he assured me no matter how long I took he would be there every step of the way. He made me feel safe, secure, and confident like I knew what I was doing. Thanks to him I didn’t even realize I had no clue on what I was doing because he instructed me every step of the way to where I really thought I had done this before. I can honestly say I made the best of choice for me and my son by making him our doctor. For me he is and forever will be the best! Thank you 🙏

I have been meaning to write this review for almost a year. I couldnt in good faith not write a review for the best doctor under the sun. He quite literally is the reason my baby is alive and thriving and turning a year old in April! I moved to Chicago in February and met Dr. Friedell for the first time at my 20 week anatomy scan. Something was wrong--my baby was far too tiny (measuring 4-5 weeks behind)...we did not know the cause of the IUGR. Dr. Friedell did everything he could for me, referring me to MFM specialists etc., even calling me late in the night to make sure I was ok after the bad news. The MFMs we saw were very knowledgeable but thought that there was something wrong with my baby and had little faith he would make it. Dr. Friedell made time to call me after every appointment I had with the MFMs and we discussed the plan. Usually, in cases like these, the patient should transfer to a specialist. Dr. Friedell was very straight with me and revealed that he is not an expert in this area but that he would continue to be my primary and consult the MFMs if he felt uncomfortable managing us at any time if thats what we wanted. He was the only one of all the doctors we saw that said in a nutshell I dont know if your baby will make it, but if you want to try, we will try together to get him as far as we can and save him. He also suggested this might be a placental issue not a my baby issue, which the MFM specialists were adimant about. So we chose him over the experts. When the time came to deliver me based on my babys poor heart rate (decelerations), the MFMs were COMFORTABLE SENDING ME HOME for outpatient monitoring. Dr. Friedell had a 6th sense and hospitalized me. My babys heart rate dropped over night and we almost lost him. We got my 2 lb little tart out right in the nick of time. Had Dr. Friedell not been managing us, my son would have died that night under the care of 5 specialists. Dr. Friedell is bold, gives it to you straight, is thorough and doesnt miss a beat. Additionally, it says a lot about his character that he will advocate for his patient and take a stand against the recommendations of the consulted specialists (even when he is outnumbered). If I ever have another baby, I will be moving back to chicago to see him. Thank you Dr. Friedell for giving us hope and for saving our son.

De. Friedell is the best OB-GYN and we are extremely happy with his guidance and the reassurance of his deep knowledge and experience! With his help the whole pregnancy and delivery was a breeze. Could not have asked for anyone better. Also thanking the entire staff and RNs and other OB GYNs at NW womens health who helped and supported us along the way.

I do need to say it again, dr. Friedell is just amazing! Words are not enough to express my gratitude! He is amazing as a professional, amazing as a person as well! He is everything a doctor should be! Thank you for your patience, for your care, for everything you have done and everything you are doing! Dr. Friedell just delivered my fourth child and I could not be happier with all the care he and his staff have given me throughout these 4 pregnancies in the last 5 and a half years. I got the impression when my husband and I first met with him that he was incredibly competent and professional, and that definitely proved to be the case throughout all of our many appointments. I first moved to Chicago 20 weeks into my first pregnancy. Dr. Friedell was recommended to me by a friend. He was very thorough in getting caught up on the history of the pregnancy and everything went smoothly. I moved to the suburbs 8 months after our daughter was born and when pregnant again I tried to find a doc in the burbs. I went to THREE different ob/gyns and couldnt believe the bad ones (and their staff) I kept running into. So - I decided to go back to Dr F 18 weeks into my 2nd pregnancy. Again, great treatment by him and his nurses the whole time - this pregnancy had a slight issue that LeAnn (the BEST ultrasound tech ever!) caught. Easy wonderful delivery again! We moved way up north (Libertyville) to settle down and when becoming pregnant with #3 I didnt mess around with finding a local doctor. I happily made the trek downtown for that pregnancy, and #4 (and last!) child as well. I cant count the miles I drove for all those appts or the hours spent in traffic, but it was all so, so so worth it to have a doctor so competent, thorough, professional, and genuine. Yes there were times I had to wait, but there were also times that I was late due to traffic, and they were always very accommodating. I would definitely recommend Dr. Friedell to anyone!

I saw Dr. Freidell yesterday for an annual checkup and to renew prescriptions. I found him to be patronizing and dismissive, and he refused to answer any of my concerns. I got the distinct impression that he felt that I was wasting his time because I am over 50 and past menopause.His attitude was ageist, to say the least. He told me what I wanted and acted as if I was too ignorant to understand what I was talking about. I do not recommend him for anyone who is menopausal or post menopausal.

Dr. Friedell is just amazing! Polite, educated, patient... He is everything a doctor should be! He listens to you, pays attention to you, talks to you. He is just there for you. His assistants are great, too - always ready to help when you need them. Thank you, Dr. Friedell!

I highly recommend Dr. Morton. She was so kind and took her time to understand my needs and listen to me. Throughout my entire pregnancy I trusted her and appreciated her expertise all the way thru my delivery. I had a c section and she was with me the whole time. Shw did an excellent job from my incsion all the way to and most importantly my baby coming into this world safely! Without her experience I dont know how it would have worked out.

Dr. Friedell performed a surgery on me a couple months ago. The surgery went really well. Dr. Friedell was very patient and knowledgeable which calmed my nerves thru the process. I highly recommend Dr. Friedell. Outstanding service!
