OVERALL: The receptionists rude behavior made me take my business elsewhere.After seeing several other reviews mentioning problems with the receptionist, its clear the organization either isn’t addressing the issue or isn’t paying attention to feedback, which is a major concern.I called to schedule an initial appointment after receiving a referral from my doctor at Ponce Primary Care (which I highly recommend). The receptionist informed me that I needed to send over all my records before scheduling. I said okay and got the information, but then asked why I couldn’t schedule a pap. Her response was, verbatim, “because you’re a new patient with problems,” when I explained my history. I told her that was a really odd and rude way to phrase it, and she replied, “yeah, it might be, but it’s true.”Absolutely not. I deserve better treatment, and the fact that this is how the relationship started is a huge red flag.I cant speak on the doctors in the practice, because I didnt get that far.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Carmichael for years and love her as a physician but I think this office is an example of how terrible staff can make or break a place. There’s one receptionist in particular that has always rubbed me the wrong way. Her attitude is terrible and she lacks adequate communication skills. Due to being a long term patient of Dr. Carmichael I’ve tried to overlook my issues with this receptionist but I’ve reached my final straw.More recently, I called to schedule an appointment and was offered a 8:30 time slot for June 19th. It never crossed my mind at the time that the office may be closed this day and I assumed later on since the receptionist offered this time slot and day she must have knew something I didn’t and that they would be open.To make a long story short I drove all the way to the office for a 8:30 appointment just to learn my appointment had been canceled. I was never notified of the cancellation and never offered a day and time to reschedule. Mistakes happen which I get, but communication is essential. This was a complete inconvenience for me as I live 30 mins away from the office and got up early for this visit. This is unacceptable and undesirable behavior and I’ll be moving on to a new clinic.

I don’t know if it’s just the receptionist or what but I this place has a very unwelcoming and rude vibe. I had an appointment scheduled tomorrow which was hard enough to schedule because they would not see me because I had a miscarriage over a month ago. So I pushed the appointment out and was cleared by the ER multiple times. I told the young lady that I had the reports, she kept asking me to fax them and they wouldn’t see me until I had proof that I was no longer pregnant because they don’t do anything OB related. I kept stating that I don’t have a fax machine and I was definitely cleared by the ER and could show them tomorrow after waiting weeks for this appointment. the irritation in her voice grew and grew so I said you know what, never mind, I don’t like the vibe I’m getting. She said “yup, okay” and hung up abruptly. Definitely won’t be recommending this place to anyone. Like sorry I had a miscarriage weeks ago

I don’t know if it’s just the receptionist has a very, rude, rude and rude person . I am new patient. I tried to called and make appointment with the doctor. The receptionist she asked me what’s going on and I told that what I am feeling and I wanna see a doctor, but she keep asking me and then …and then …… I asked her are you a doctor or receptionist? She said girl bye and she hung up. I’m shocked. I don’t like the way she asked me.

The staff was friendly and attentive. Dr. Carmichael was very easy to talk to and I felt that she really understood what I was concerned about and what I wanted from my visit. The exam was easy and not NEARLY as uncomfortable as other offices have been in the past. The only thing I did not like is that I had to pay for parking for my visit. Other than that I plan to go back.

Honestly the worst experience ive had at a doctors being told not to even worry about have a baby because im not even 25 was the worst thing you can tell someone whos going through fertility issues. Horrible experience personal opinion about a patient’s decision should stay to yourself. I should have read the previous reviews about this specific doctor being REALLY INSENSITIVE!!! And trying to constantly push birth control

The office staff is very professional. Dr. Carmichael is the Beat . She keeps you updated on your wellness, explains every step of procedure and she’s the only provider that still washes her hands before and after any care performed. I do not see that too often. She’s the best! I love this office and staff involved in my care.

I can truly say Dr. Johnson is the WORST Dr I have ever encountered. I tried to see a woman of color thinking she would be sensitive to my concerns as a black woman. She is unprofessional and unkind. Its sad to say that she is like some many other doctors, simply lining her pockets with copays and unnecessary test and procedure requests. She is old and past her prime and unwilling to listen to the needs of her patients and simply unable to meet her patients where they are and listen with a compassionate ear and heart . Shame on her, especially as an African American physician. I could have been spoken down to and mistreated and disrespected by any Dr, never expected it from a woman of color. On the other hand, the office staff is professional and kind, and nurses are very kind. I wish them much success, but I will never return, nor would I recommend Dr. Johnson.

Review Updated 7/30/2021: I highly recommend this medical practice. The staff and Dr. Carmichael was very friendly, patient, and understanding. No long wait times in the office and the office was very clean. Dr. Carmichael took the time to listen to my concerns, answer all of my questions, and she made sure that the continuity of care was in place (screening orders, next appointment scheduled, etc). You will not be disappointed with this medical practice.Dr. Carmichael is awesome! You will not go wrong selecting her as a Physician. I have recently encountered some issues accessing healthcare via another provider. Dr. Carmichael provided a very detailed and professional opinion on the problem. Not only did she explain the problem well, she also made sure that I had an appointment set to get the care that I needed before I left her office. I was quite shocked at the expedience of her work after months of dealing with the run around elsewhere. Thank you Dr. Carmichael for all that you do.

Thankfully the reviews are 100% accurate. Dr. Carmichael is everything the reviews claim her to be. This being my first visit I was relieved to find that all the 5 star reviews aligned with the experience and service I received. I was instantly put at ease with the natural and relaxed conversation we had. She was extremely thorough and made me feel extremely comfortable. I highly recommend Dr. Carmichael.

Dr. Carmichael provided an excellent experience. She was very communicative about the entire exam experience, and answered all the questions I had. She didn’t make me feel rushed and listened to all of my concerns, which is really the first time I’ve had a doctor do that. I highly recommend her and am grateful for the level of care her office provided.

Best OBGYN experience Ive ever had! Staff was very accommodating during a busy weekday at the start of holiday season. I could not find childcare for my 3-year-old daughter and they were very kind and understanding to her and I. Even offered to sit her upfront with the receptionist.Dr. Carmichael made me feel comfortable during the pap smear. Talked to me through the whole exam; constantly setting my expectations for what would happen next. She was also very thorough. Highly recommended.

I was a new patient and really liked Dr. Carmichael. She was sunny and easy to talk to and asked me caring questions. Exam was careful/thorough. The rest of the office seemed to work efficiently, too. I like that this is a small practice -- doesnt feel like a mill. Even the parking was convenient and easy. Very positive experience.

During my visit, Dr. Carmichael was very attentive, personable and kind. She listened to me and my needs. During our discussion, she provided additional options for contraception that I didnt know was available to me for consideration. She came highly recommended to me by one of my colleagues.Being a first-time patient, I was a little nervous but her calming nature put me immediately at ease.Dr. Carmichael was very thorough in her examination and she patiently listened and responded to my questions and concerns. I went to this practice for a few years, UNTIL...I was in for my annual exam and wanted to know more about tubal ligation (getting your tubes tied.) I was told Id have to make a separate appt for that consult. I figured Great--its an important discussion that merits a separate appt. Fine, so I make another appt, pay the $50 copay and $10 parking fee, only to have the doctor COMPLETELY DISMISS me and my concerns.She didnt even have the door shut behind her before she launched into Lets talk about your birth control options and ran through the exact same spiel she gave me in my annual exam. When I asked about tubal ligation, she told me I was too young to make that decision. I was 38. Id had 38 freaking years to decide whether I wanted kids, and was trying to be proactive about my decision. Ive tried different hormonal birth controls and they always made me feel incredibly depressed.She also did not ask if I had a partner, yet had the audacity to ask What does HE think about this? (AS THOUGH I NEEDED PERMISSION FROM SOME MAN TO MAKE THIS DECISION ABOUT MY OWN BODY) and Well what if you meet someone who DOES want kids? (Uhhh then that is not the man for me because I absolutely do not want to birth any!) She basically refused to actually talk to me about the procedure, except to warn me of all the possible complications (rare as they may be) and emphasized that there is a chance of death.Pretty quickly into the conversation, I just shut down. I felt dismissed and unheard, and completely lost confidence and trust in her. She didnt ask a single question about why I was interested in this procedure. Her tone and demeanor made me feel like a child being scolded for asking about something I shouldnt. The worst $60 I ever spent.Adding insult to injury, a short time later I went back for a colposcopy that had been scheduled prior to that garbage consultation. Colposcopies are not comfortable. Id had one before. But this one took much longer and was FARRRR more painful. I was literally crying on the table and asking if it was almost over, and both the doctor and the nurse LITERALLY IGNORED me.These experiences traumatized me. I havent seen an OB/GYN since. Every time I think of the way she dismissed my questions and kept telling me I was too young to make this decision, I feel rage and sadness.TLDR: Dont go to this practice if you want a doctor who actually listens and has empathy, and definitely not if you want a tubal ligation.

After my appointment, I originally gave this visit a very good rating. It was based on the friendliness of the staff. However, the problem I had continued to exist and I was told that nothing was wrong. I went to my oncologist who took additional lab work and found out I had several infections. He immediately prescribed the correct antibiotic. If I was diagnosed earlier, my medical condition would not have been as bad when I saw him. I question what happened and I am very concerned and disappointed that a simple UTI was not caught at the initial appointment. Thus caused me to suffer and had to seek other medical attention. Very disappointed!!!!

When I first walked into Dr Carmichaels office, I felt welcomed. The woman at the front desk kindly greeted me immediately and checked me in. Everyone in the office was wearing a mask and hand sanitizer was readily available as per the guidelines during this Covid 19 pandemic. The ultrasound nurse (Beverly) introduced herself by name and immediately washed her hands upon entering the room. Beverly is personable, kind and explained the ultrasound procedure ahead of time. She was professional and made me feel comfortable. Next, I met with Dr Carmichael to discuss results and address any questions. Dr. Carmichael is kind, professional, knowledgeable and explained things in a way I easily understood. She offered me information on my ultrasound and options for treatment. I had several questions and she sat and listened offering feedback in a holistic manner. She is easy to talk with, like talking with a friend she is genuinely interested in my concerns. I never felt rushed as I have with other Drs. During exam, she explained things ahead of time and I felt calm and relaxed through this visit.

Dr. Carmichael is an amazing doctor and so is her staff! I am a new patient and she made me feel very comfortable, was thorough, and made recommendations my previous OB/GYN didnt make. I had a wonderful experience.

Dr. Carmichael is a phenomenal physician. She is very thorough and detailed in her approach while also providing a very patient and supportive “bedside manner”. You’ll never feel rushed or “unheard” regarding any questions/concerns. I recommend Dr. Carmichael 100%.

My experience at the Wellness Center was wonderful. The nurse (I cant remember her name) was the only one working at the time was great. She was able to draw my blood with only one stick (being that I have rolling veins).Dr. Johnson made me feel comfortable and listened to me of my concerns even with things that wasnt health related. She was attentive and took her time explaining something I asked in detail without rushing. Thank you Dr. Johnson and staff for making my visit pleasant and worth while.

My first time here and everyone was friendly and welcoming. Dr CarMichael is amazing! You can tell she loves her job! I had a ton of questions, but she listened and gave an answer to every question! Definitely recommend!

I came to the practice 3 years ago after a terrible experience at another practice and I haven’t changed my gynecologist office since! I have been to places where I have been judged for answering health questions honestly, places where I was incorrectly diagnosed and more! Here the process is always comfortable and timed very well. The doctors are very nice! And patient. They are always able to answer all my questions which helps to ease my worries. They take great care of their facilities and while at an appointment I’ve never felt uncomfortable or judged.

I absolutely love Dr CarMichael!! I have been a patient for years. She makes me feel like family when ever I come in for a check up or screening. She is very thorough and explains everything well! The entire staff is very nice and professional!

OMG! Waiting in the waiting room was longer than my consultation! Why make an appointment if you have to wait 45 minutes more? Love Dr. Johnson and Dr. Carmichael! They are two very smart doctors with wonderful, disarming bedside manners.

My initial visit with Dr. Carmichael was actually very pleasant and I was pleased with her service and knowledge.My issue is with the Office Coordinator (Gloria). I was due to have an ultrasound done and was aware of the ULTRASOUND fee. I was not informed of the additional $95 dollar charge for the office visit. I explained to the Office Coordinator that I should have been aware of this when my appointment was made, not the day before I am schedule. I cancelled the appointment. After calming down, I decided to call back to reschedule the appointment because I really liked the doctor. While making the appointment I told the Office Coordinator to make sure she informs me of ALL fees moving forward. She states, I dont have any control on what your insurance pays. I told her, but she didnt inform me of the additional charge for the office visit. She dismisses me and proceeds to talk about the appointment. I told her she shouldnt treat people that way and I asked to speak to the office manager. She states that she is not in and that shes the office coordinator. I told her I need to speak with someone higher than her. She proceeds to state either she can make the appointment or have her call me back. I told her someone better call me back because you do not treat people this way. She states are you threatening me?! You were rude when you came in the office. You can talk to Dr. Carmichael this way. She place me on hold for twenty minutes before I hung up.Janet, the office manager calls back and stated that it is the patients responsibility to know their benefits and that we inform of fees as a courtesy. I told her I was not aware of the additional $94 that was my only issue. She proceeded to state that she is sorry if I felt like this wasnt done. She told me to go be serviced somewhere else because no one has complained about Gloria in 10 years. Shes is not a rude person, and she doesnt want any tension in the office when I come in to visit and that she would send me a release for my records personally.This was a hurtful situation because I found a doctor who finally listens and Im told to go elsewhere. I was a new patient, I wasnt even close to being rude, but I was labeled as such. I barely said five words when I came in the office to sign in. Now I have to spend money and start all over. SMH

I love and appreciate Dr Carmichael and all her staff. Dr. Carmichael listens to me, isnt rushed and is a very good physician. She is extremely knowledgeable, and is gentle and caring. My daughter and I are grateful to have found Dr Carmichael.

Im not sure how this place can have such good reviews on Google. I see that most of the good reviews commented on Dr. Carmichael. I didnt have her as my doctor when I visited, so maybe that is the reason for my bad experience? Not sure, but I wouldnt bother with this place if I were you.I did not like this practice at all. I got my IUD here because my primary physician didnt perform insertions. As another reviewer mentioned, they make you wait a long time even if youve made an appointment. When you finally see the doctor, she speaks to you for 5 mins and the visit is over. Boom, there goes your ~$150 payment. Also, they make you pay in advance BEFORE seeing the doctor. Ive never been to a practice that does that.Trust me when I say most of the time you spend in this office will be sitting and waiting. I had many questions because it was my first time getting an IUD, but the doctor didnt seem like she cared to explain unless I asked her specific questions. She didnt even seem interested. I didnt feel like she advised me at all. Will not be going back in the future.

Overall, Dr. Carmichael was very pleasant. It was my 1st time visiting, so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but Dr. Carmichael was highly recommended. Upon meeting her, I didn’t feel rushed and I felt that she was very attentive and seeked to understand and get to actually know me, which I haven’t experienced in awhile. I will say, I was very appreciative of the text alerts leading up to my appointment; I did get a little lost, so I did have to call for a little guidance, the website and google wasn’t as Quick and helpful at that very moment. The call operator wasn’t so pleasant, left me on hold for 6mins, which I had to hang up and call back, when we spoke, she was snappy and rude; I felt rushed. I asked questions and she spoke to me like I was supposed to know the answers, which I wouldn’t because it was my 1st visit. Lastly, I got to the office, you’d think the lady at the front desk would be more welcoming, the young lady just seemed annoyed. I may give this location another visit, only because Dr. Carmichael was really nice and knowledgeable.

I had a great experience with Dr. Johnson and the staff at Total Womens Health. Due to the pandemic, I was temporarily located in GA when I started to experience heavy bleeding. I contacted Total Womens Health and they accepted my out-of-state insurance and were able to see me within a few days.After the initial visit and bloodwork, I had to come back for more testing, which showed the root cause of my issue. Dr. Johnson and the staff explained everything thoroughly and worked with me when I began to panic. It turned out that I needed a procedure but was returning to my home state in a few weeks. There was no way I would allow an unknown Dr. to perform my procedure, and Dr. Johnson completely understood. I was scheduled immediately for the procedure before I was to leave town.It took a while for me to be cleared for surgery by another physician, but Total Womens Health held my appointment and put up with my daily phone calls. I was anxious, and every staff member that I spoke with was kind and patient. In the end, I was cleared for my procedure which went smoothly and the anesthesiology team was great as well.Overall, I give Total Womens Health, Dr. Johnson, and the entire staff 5 stars. I blew up their phone, asked every question, and rushed the process, but they remained professional and provided me with excellent healthcare.

I had a great experience for my first visit. Dr. Carmichael was very thorough and she listen to what i had to say. I see five really cares for her patients. That is what i like in a doctor.

I enjoy going to visit Dr.Carmichael, I drive 2 hours to my dr visits. Dr Carmichael make me feel comfortable I trust that she has me at her best interest. She listens with interest and communicate with eagerness. She has been my dr for six years and don’t mind the drive.

I visited Total Womens Health and Wellness Center for the first time this week. While there was an initial scheduling error, Pam at the front desk was very kind and accommodating, and helped squeeze me in for an exam. My second interaction was with the nurse Saeeda, who took my vitals. She was exceptionally gentle and considerate, and although she was quiet at first, she opened up with a lovely sense of humor after we began talking about our lives - and our shared love of dogs. Dr. Johnson was an absolute professional, and she made me feel comfortable and well-cared for throughout the exam. In my many, many years of seeing an OBGYN, this was by far my most positive experience. (Note: Be sure to get clear parking and office directions when you book an appointment, and plan on arriving early - the entrance to the building is attached to the parking lot)

Dr. Carmichael was great! She answered all of my questions and listened to my concerns. She was very welcoming and made me feel comfortable during my visit. Her office even fit me in after I drove to the wrong location!

Dr Carmichael was great. She took the time to talk to you and explain what she is doing during the procedure. The woman who did the ultrasound was rude and the woman who took my blood work for labs was rough and not gentle with the needle.

Ive had the absolute most positive experience with the physicians here. Ive been seeing Dr. Carmichael for three years and I so appreciate her medical expertise, bedside manner, compassion, and professionalism. I highly recommend her.

Great facility. I visit both locations but I started at the Decatur location. Fantastic doctors and great customer service. I have been going to Dr Johnson for 10 years. I hate Pap smears still at age 36 but she always makes you feel comfortable. I would recommend this office to any woman.

Dr. Johnson is the first doctor I’ve been to who has actually listened instead of thrown up her hands. The staff was warm and welcoming and I’m really happy I was able to get an appointment with her and feel hopeful again. I really recommend her and this practice.

I loved going to Total Womens Health and Wellness for my yearly pap. Dr. Johnson was so friendly and made me feel as comfortable as possible. I really liked how she took me back into her office after and talked to me one on one about my health. She made me feel as if I was her only patient for the day. I will definitely be going back next year.

Hello, I have gone here twice. The first visit was great. The second visit wasn’t too well. The doctor and the receptionist were lovely! The nurse didn’t even say hello to me or greet me. I thought nurses were supposed to be friendly and sympathetic. When she was going to draw my blood, she didn’t even say anything to keep me calm. I have gotten my blood drawn before and I have never bruised this badly. :( Lowkey upset .... Lowkey will go somewhere else next time.

Office was very welcoming. The rooms were a little dated, but overall very nice. The office staff were very pleasant, helpful and patient. Dr. Johnson was warm and down to earth. She did not rush the visit at all. Let me know what was the plan going forward.

I wish their Billing office would be more helpful towards their patients. I asked them to send a claim to my second insurance as well, so I could get a refund from my insurance, but they never did. Next time, I would rather choose a place that helps their patients so their finances would not be a barrier to healthcare. Sad, cause the medical staff is great.Update: they helped me fix this problem, and send the clam to my other insurance. Thank you

Total Womens Health & Wellness Center are easy and pleasant to communicate with. Dr. Johnson is a lovely, friendly doctor who engaged me in conversation and put me at ease throughout my procedure.Itd be helpful to provide some signs from the parking lot to direct patients to the office, though. I couldnt see any and had to call the office to ask for directions.

Dr. Andrea Johnson has by far been the best GYN that I have experienced; I recommend her and this office to ever female. Dr. Johnson was informative , attentive, and damn honest, she is my primary from this moment forward; I wish she did OB as well.

Ive been going to Dr. Carmichael for a few years now and she is always very professional and thorough. She explains every thing she is doing and looking for. Some days the wait is longer then others so I schedule for that and bring something to read to keep me occupied.

I have been a patient of Doctor Carmichael for twenty years. I had to take a hiatus from seeing her in my twenties (boy, do I regret that) and gladly came back in my late twenties because of a health issue. Ever since then, I make it a priority to see Doctor Carmichael and she is still as warm, open, funny, knowledgeable, and patient as everyone else here attest to. Ladies, if youre looking for a doctor who will listen to your concerns, please make a visit to Total Womens Health and ask for Doctor Stephanie Carmichael. You will not regret it.

Ive been seeing Dr. Carmichael for nearly 18 years. She cared for me after the birth of my daughter and she has been phenomenal ever since. I trust her completely with my medical care.

My issue is that when I scheduled my appointment online there was a section for the future patient to make notes. So I asked if they accepted Medicaid, pregnancy Medicaid. A couple days later they accepted my appointment. I get to my appointment today, fill out all the paperwork and handed her my card and ID. She says oh Im sorry we dont accept Medicaid. I told her well why did you guys accept my appointment when I asked if it was accepted. She said its on their website that they dont accept it. I went through the entire site and saw a section of what was accepted which I saw Medicare so thats why I proceed to ask about Medicaid. I did my part by asking if my insurance was accepted but they didnt do their part by actually reading the notes section that they ask you to fill in when scheduling appointments. Took me two weeks to find a place I liked to help me through this pregnancy, then two weeks for the appointment and now Im back on the hunt again. Such a waste of time.

Dr Andrea Johnson, She is very professional & kind, I found her empathetic . She discussed my problem with patience. I feel very comfort when I visited her. Team members of Total Womens Health & Wellness Center Inc. are also very helpful & polite.

Dr. Carmichael is one of the best women’s health physicians in Georgia. Attentive, caring, exceptional service. All the wonderful things one can expect from a doctor, she has to offer.

Short version - Long wait times, I felt like Dr. Carmichael was knowledgable but not the most comforting, felt like they were juggling too many clients at once, generally unpleasant experience.I was a little fainty after she told me about the blood I was experiencing during the exam, she said I should get an ultrasound, listed off a lot of things it could be and then offhandedly mentioned not having to worry about taking off too much work for chemo yet which totally took me by surprise and freaked me out. She got me a water and then never returned to check in, I had to walk out to see if it was cool for me to leave or if she was planning on coming back. I have found a different obgyn because this was just a really unpleasant experience and Im hoping to find a place that has more sensitive communication. The lady at the front desk was nice though (sorry for bursting out crying in front of you)!

Dr Carmichael is very knowledgeable about the healthcare needs of her patients. She discusses and explains the process beforehand. She makes me feel comfortable and will alway trust her expertise.

Im new to the area, and scheduled my first visit over the phone, and they were able to schedule me last minute at the Lithonia location.I was seen by Dr. Johnson, who was nice and helpful, and had me in and out quickly. There is also a patient portal that you are able to ask post-visit questions on, and I received speedy responses regarding my prescriptions there as well.My only complaint is that the receptionist was a bit aloof and monotone in demeanor. She was also the person who took BP, weight, and blood, but she didnt introduce herself as such, and she wore business casual attire. Im not sure if this is common practice either, but she was also in the examination room with myself and the Dr., and I felt a bit uncomfortable with her there. Id say if she would have changed into scrubs, and maybe had a name badge with her title on it, I would have felt more comfortable.

Great atmosphere each time I come. I love seeing Dr. CarMichael because she answers all of the questions I have to the best of her knowledge And she makes sure I am an informed consumer.

I truly appreciate Dr. J, Dr. C and their staff for having this practice. Ive been going to them for years. I have always gotten prompt service and educational materials to help me make the best choices for my health.

Dr Carmichael was very thorough and professional. However, I keep receiving spam calls and emails from the office about liposuction and weight loss seminars. It seems very unprofessional to me. I don’t like feeling like my doctor is trying to sell me something. I’m there for a medical reason, not to be upsold on weight loss remedies!

Saw me same day! There was a scheduling hiccup in the beginning but the scheduling receptionist rectified it and still got me in same day. Saw Dr Andrea and she was great and is doing the most to figure out whats going on with me. Very kind, nice and explained the process to me every step of the way.

First visit. Staff was pleasant and informative. Dr. Johnson was a breath of fresh air. She listened, asked relevant questions and really listened to my answers. No judgement, no rushing, just solid medical recommendations and advice. She was patient, thorough and had a sense of humor.

Unfortunately my experience with Dr Johnson left much to be desired. Basically she lacks bedside manner and has poor communication skills. My concerns didn’t seem to be taken seriously, she even laughed at one point, and she rushes through her contact with me both in person and on the phone. I’m not sure how this office has such great reviews.

Dr. Carmichael is wonderful, but my experience with Dr. Johnson delivering my baby was absolutely horrifying. From her putting in the cervidil to induce labor (I had two, a nurse inserted the first with no pain to me, but Dr. Johnson inserted it and I was crying hysterically in pain) to her giving me an episiotomy without numbing me first, and then doing the stitches as I was in excruciating pain without numbing me after, I have never had a worse experience in my life. I screamed violently when she made the first cut and she made a second one without even asking if I was okay. She was cold, unfeeling, unsympathetic, and even seemed like she was punishing me. When I was crying in hysterics she didnt apologize, ask if I was in pain or even speak to me or make eye contact. Like she was pissed off that she had to be there delivering my baby. I cant even believe the way i was treated. I have had horrible flashbacks from the experience, and when I called 6 days after delivery to the after hours line with a fever of 103 to the after hours on call line, (I called every two hours from 6pm when the fever came on until the office opened the next day at 9 am and Dr. Johnson never called back).I would sue if I didnt want to relive the experience over and over again.She took what should have been the most wonderful day of my life, meeting my son, and made it a day that I cant think about without pain and trauma. If I could give 0 stars I would.I saw Dr Carmichael for almost all of my appointments and didnt meet Dr Johnson until it was too late to change doctors. At the regular checkups I thought she was just maybe not good at bedside manner, but I did notice she was always rougher with the pelvic exams and cold.I am so horrified by the practice that I had to find a different OB to do my checkup, even though Ive already paid (it comes as a package with the birth when they file insurance). I would rather pay out of pocket than let her touch me ever again.

Dr. Carmichael was really wonderful in helping me with multiple issues I brought to our initial appointment. I especially appreciated how much she listened to my concerns and worked with me to address them.

Terrible experience for my wife, went in and was mistreated - 0 customer serivce and directly rude staff. Im shocked and question how a business that treats its customers like this stays in business.Dr. Johnson is a cold, unfeeling medical practitioner and to say she lacks bedside manner would be to minimize the trauma and emotional scarring she inflicts on her patients. We went here because it was recommended on United Healthcares website and I am appalled that this is the case. Anyone expecting to be treated like a human being is in for a rude awakening.

I came into the office with mysterious lower abdominal pains I have experienced on and off my cycle for years and she was very upfront and transparent about how frustrating gynecology can be sometimes which was refreshing! I was given multiple pain treatment options and the cost of everything was very considered! Thank you!

I typically only go to Total Womens Health for wellness visits only. However due to weight gain I wanted to discuss appetite suppressants and possibly get some advice. Although as a patient we can have our own thoughts on health its the job of the physican to offer suggestions and analyze our charts. None of this was done and my appt was cut short due to Dr.Carmichael having to deliver a baby. So being that I received a half appointment I called the office to the request a half or whole refund for my copay. They dont have a office manager but a office coordinator which I think is made up. She tells me oh well since you received a prescription and met with the dr the copay wouldnt be refunded ummmm the pills in the office and the perception were the SAME amount so it wasnt like you all were doing me a favor. She then said well I can have Dr.Carmichael call you to finish your appointment via phone. I was so pissed off that I have now decided to NEVER return to this office! When you try to support black owned business and then the service is lack luster it is very hurtful. I will never refer anyone to this office and I hope to never experience money hungry OBGYN office again in the future.

My issue was in Nov of 2019. My initial appointment as a new patient with Dr. Johnson went well. My second appointment was different. I am on BC (pill) I have always been regular with my cycle. However, I had two months of abnormal bleeding in the middle of my cycle; two weeks after my period. When I called the office did make a quick appointment. When I went they gave me a pee pregnancy test; ineffective if your on BC unless timed precisely (I researched.) My appointment was rushed and my questions werent much answered. She asked me questions pertaining to my sexual partner. I have been with the same individual for 6 years. She still proceeded to have me tested for STDs. So I was tested for was being pregnant, STDs, and standard blood work. Nothing as far as cyst, or miscarriage, or a any internal tears. did standard test and then sent me on my way. It only got worse from here. Dr. Johnson left a message herself and said I had abnormal lab results to return the call. When I called back I was put on long holds, transferred back and forth between the different locations, then a receptionist told me I had high hormone levels...but the doctor would call me . Finally when Dr. Johnson called me back she proceeded to tell me everything is fine. I asked her if she was triple sure because her voicemail said differently. She said yes Im sure all your test came back normal. So needless to say after no help with knowing why I was bleeding randomly and putting me in an unnecessary panic I will not return to this practice..Also all of the office staff: receptionist, nurse, and phlebotomist dont have much of personalities and act as if they did not care to be there.

Regretfully referred my daughter here, I was a patient of MD Johnson 3 yrs ago and did not have any issues but what a difference time makes. My daughter is a young adult that saw the aforementioned MD, whom was given information that was not relayed in a manner in which a non medical person would understand.When the MD was asked to speak with me ( a healthcare professional). My child was told she couldnt because of HIPPA and that she is an adult and can handle her own affairs. Being in the medical field for several years, I speak with family members daily about their loved ones with the patients consent.My child had a procedure done and after ibuprofen given in office was still in pain. When I asked the MD about pain medication it was stated that surgery was not done and ibuprofen should be sufficient. From what I learned in school, practice in the field and any sensible medical professional would ascertain that pain is subjective. I had to request more than once for stronger pain relief for my child all the while being over talked incessantly by the MD.

The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. The assistant to the doctor was very through and attentive.Doctor Carmichael is thorough and confident in her profession.

Dr. Carmichael was just lovely. In 43 years, I have NEVER had a Dr. make me feel so comfortable. Highly recommend.

I started with Total Womens Health when we found out we were pregnant with our first baby. I had never seen them before but was satisfied with the office at first. That satisfaction quickly waned with scheduling conflict after scheduling conflict, miscommunication, and general bare minimum standard of care. We had ONE ultrasound of our baby at this office. For our 20 week anatomy scan, we were told not once or twice, but THREE times that the scan would be at the next appointment. My husband took off work for three uneventful, non ultrasound appointments, despite being told the scan would be next time. We ended up having to schedule with an outside office and pay out of pocket for it. At times, I was kept waiting an hour and a half or more without any update from the staff regarding the delay (I had to chase someone down to figure out why I hadnt been seen for a routine, 5 minute appointment yet.) Ultimately, we ended up switching doctors (to Atlanta GYN and OB) at 35 weeks (!) and boy, were we glad. The care we received in the final 5 weeks of our pregnancy was far superior to any of the preceding care. This office is rife with communication and scheduling errors, and in my opinion, a subpar standard of care. NOTE: On Yelp, this office deletes any review that is less than 5 stars. PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS OFFICE, they misrepresent themselves and the standard of care they provide!!!

As a new patient, I found Dr. Carmichael to be extremely caring, informative, and concerned about my overall health and wellness. Very professional, non-judgmental, and helpful.

My First visit with Dr. Johnson. I have been dealing with the same issues for many years. She listened, was non-judgmental and laid out a concise plan. We will see how it progresses but so far very good.

2nd Visit at the Lithonia Office. From the front office staff to the one on one time spent with the physician - all was positive. I walked away feeling heard and well cared for. Dr. Carmichael is professional, personable and very knowledgeable.

Respectful and kind doctor made the visit less of a dreadful experience. I’d recommend Dr. Johnson to any ladies in need of a Gynecologist in the Decatur square area. The location is also walking distance from many of the apartment/condo buildings within the Decatur square community so very convenient for those who live in the area.

I had a positive experience- Dr Carmichael and her staff were professional, patient, and kind. I was seen right away. The exam was not uncomfortable in any way.

Ill give them 2 stars bc the doctors are good but the office policies are ridiculous. Youre charged a $75 fee for cancelling an appt less than 24 hrs that to me is insane. When life happens or things happen thats out of your control and you have to reschedule less than 24 hrs that is held against you and you will be CHARGED 75 dollars. No one knows what may happen from day to day. However I work in healthcare myself and understand that the physicians time is valued and their should be a fee but $75 is a bit much!

Love this place, have been going for years and trust Dr. Carmichael with my health. The same staff are steady, consistent, and kind. Plus their staff are international and get women and women’s issues and I just appreciate that.

Dr. Johnson was extremely professional and very efficient while asking questions and completing my assessment. I was very comfortable with her as my doctor. Would definitely recommend!

My second visit here was not as well as my first visit. To say the least, Dr. Johnson seems to not listen to her patients and is a bit insensitive. She needs to work on her interpersonal skills.

I visited this doctor twice in the past two weeks. The first time I saw Dr. Carmichael and she was very kind and patient. She had a student with her who was quite rough and so my exam by the student was very uncomfortable. I have been having cervical pain since my IUD insertion a year ago but was unable to see a doctor until now because of insurance reasons. I noticed the IUD strings seemed longer which is why I went in when I did. They did the exam and said everything looked normal but because of the pain I should come in and do an ultrasound.So I came in early the next week for the ultrasound and the ultra-sonographer was also very kind and I felt did a good exam.Then I met with Dr. Johnson and it all went downhill from there. I walked into her office and she told me The IUD is still in there so you are good to go. Any other questions?I knew the IUD was in there because I had felt the strings, so this was surprising that this is what she told me since I wasnt questioning that the IUD was there, merely the position. I relayed that information to her and reminded her that I had come in her to get the position of my IUD checked because of the pain and the change in string length.She seemed surprised by that and only THEN decided to actually look at the ultrasounds I had just paid for. If I hadnt spoken up (which is hard for me because of a great anxiety about doctors) she would have let me walk out of there with my IUD misplaced and at risk for injury or pregnancy! That is when she saw the note by the ultrasonographer that something was not right. She said Oh, it looks like there is a note here that says it may be in your lower uterus, let me go talk with the doctorWhen she came back into the office she confirmed my suspicions that the IUD was in my cervix and thus ineffective. I was very distraught at this point because I was late on my period and in a good deal of pain AND mainly because I almost walked out of there without knowing. She did NOT offer any counseling on my options or any information on why this happened, if it could happen again if i got another IUD or if there were other birth control options I could use.She asked me if I wanted another IUD inserted and I said I dont know, because getting it in was very painful and this one did not work, my body rejected it. If I did get another one it would likely be a paragard since I have not responded well to hormones. She then left the office to get me an order form for paragard to fill out. I was alarmed by this because I was not at all sure that I wanted one, when I told her this she became cross and told me just to sign the form anyways so I wouldnt have to come back in to sign it if I decided I wanted one.I was very overwhelmed at this point because I was still so confused as to what happened to my IUD and why and because I really needed to talk to her to understand my options. I was getting emotional and having difficulty filling out the form. Instead of talking with me and answering my questions she told me to leave her office and fill out the paperwork in the waiting room and to tell the receptionist not to fax it since I wasnt sure if I wanted it ordered or not.I was so taken aback by this. It all happened in a span of about five minutes. I filled out the form as I was told and asked the receptionist not to fax it as per Dr. Johnsons suggestion. She got cross with me as well because I asked to know the price of it to aid in my decision. She snapped at me and said that we cant know the price unless we fax it so what did she want me to do? I dont work here so obviously i didnt know that I was just following what the Dr. had told me. I was about in tears at this point and so I told her just to fax it and ran out of there crying.Its a week later and I have no idea what to do. I have an IUD in my cervix causing me a great deal of pain with no appointment to get it out and no idea what my best option would be.I may try and meet with Dr. Carmichael or go to a new practice entirely. I will never go back to Dr. Johnson.

Ive been coming here for years. The staff has been pretty consistent for about 10 years, which reflects a healthy work environment. The staff is friendly, and the service provided is good. The downside is having to jump through hoops to get sterilized.

First off, let me start with, if you have asthma, a breathing condition, or allergies, this is a spa so they use scented air fresheners and things that may trigger reactions. I had to take a benedryl in the waiting room, where I waited for a while.I saw Dr. Carmicheal when I was here. I had my yearly, we talked about my PCOS, I requested HRT for it as no birth control Ive been on for Years has worked. Dr finally agreed while I was in the office and it was like puilling teeth. Mind you, she did point out that my knowledge on PCOS is extensive, so she realized I know what I am talking about.Fast forward to the aggreement that the results would be communicated of if it worked or didnt. At this point, Dr said she didnt agree to renewing the prescription, told me If its PCOS when I had told her in the office that Ive been dealing with it for over 20 years now. Said she was okay with me only have 4 withdrawl bleeds a year, which i specifically told her I was Not okay with. Ive been diagnosed several times by doctors who refused to listen to me about my medical history. I even brought the records from my previous visit to a PCOS specialist gyno here in Atlanta. She still doubted I have the condition. Wouldnt renew the HRT script, argued with me about getting on a regular birth conrtol, with the If this doesnt work.. and mentioned something about checking with her reproductive endochrinologist friend if it is PCOS. I agreed to try the regular birth control because she had eluded to if it didnt work, wed go with my preferred method. That didnt happen. When the regular birth control didnt work, the response that I recieved, that I cant remember anything of other than it was met with the resounding realization that I wont be returning. I am not going to see a doctor of Any specialty that refuses to acknowledge a patients history and acts like if they didnt diagnose it themselves it cant possibly exist. I havent gone through all I have in my life with this condition for that nonsense. I refuse to go back to this office.

Dr. Carmichael has been my go-to for balanced OB/GYN care for 15 years. The practice has expanded, yet she has not lost that personal touch.

The receptionists here are rude and lazy. The lack of communication is remarkable.I needed to replace my IUD so I went in for a birth control consultation on August 20th. They told me a CVS pharmacy would contact me about ordering the IUD and to wait for their call. A month later I hadn’t heard from either the office or the pharmacy so I called both of them to investigate. CVS said the order for the IUD was never sent over. I got the office to fianally send CVS the order and I waited another month. Again I didn’t hear anything so I called to investigate. Apparently my insurance wouldn’t cover the IUD unless it was filed as a buy and bill and nobody called me to tell me that! The office then offered to give me the IUD I did not want (mirena) because they already had one in house and didn’t want to buy me the one I wanted (kyleena). I decided to give up on them and go to Atlanta’s Womens Specialists. I called them on Thursday and got my new IUD placed the following Tuesday! They did all the work and made sure my insurance covered all of it. They called me back when they said they would. They actually took care of me. I’m so glad I gave up on TWH because I would STILL be waiting.

I went twice they ran All the same tests as the first time even though I told them that I did not need them again they did them and charged me Again!!!! They didnt even listen to me telling them whats wrong and two visits and a whole lot of bills later I still have no answers from them but I have bills for blood work twice yall should be ashamed doing other black women this way when it is already so hard for us to get proper treatment.

I was in and out with the great service. The location requires you to pay for parking which is outside the great service I received. I will be checking out the Lithonia location which is closer to me. The doctor was patient and knowledgeable, I had concerns she answered my questions with no judgement simple great bedside manner. I enjoyed my time getting to all done and I was in and out.

I loved the careful explanations and gentleness of the clinicians. I had high hopes after reading all of the reviews of this practice and my expectations were met for my first visit.

1st appointment, Very fast , Dr.Johnson was nice & very understanding.
