I went to Jose for about a year while struggling with infertility & doing fertility treatments. I really cannot recommend him enough. To be honest, ever since the initial phone call with Jose, I felt that he was more thorough & informative than most of my doctors were. Jose is very friendly, genuine, knowledgeable, & great at what he does.As I sit here with my 3 mo old baby, I can confidently say that acupuncture played a huge role in the success of my pregnancy. I truly believe this was due to acupuncture calming my nervous system & preparing my body to successfully carry my baby. I 100% recommend Jose and cannot thank him enough!!

I got acupuncture with Jose to supplement my IVF treatment in April 2023. I started the treatment in early April and had my egg retrieval by the end of May. I started to see Jose after 4 failed IVF cycles from which we had zero PGT normal embryos. After the treatment with him, I had 24 eggs retrieved and we ended up with 2 PGT normal embryos from that cycle. In my previous cycles, I used to have around 18-20 eggs on the day of the stimulation. But never many of them made it to the retrieval day. In the previous 4 cycles, they retrieved 11, 4, 16, and 9 eggs respectively and we never had a normal embryo from those cycles. From those 4 cycles, we sent 4 embryos in total for PGT (1 embryo per cycle) and none of them were normal. After the acupuncture treatment with Jose, 24 eggs made it to the retrieval day, we got 4 embryos, and 2 of them were PGT normal. Jose’s treatment did wonders for me. We were shocked about this result. We are so grateful to him! His holistic approach kept me relaxed, positive, and excited for good results, and obviously helped the eggs to develop evenly at a similar pace, which is very important. We can’t thank him enough! Initially, my husband was very skeptical about acupuncture and generally about non-Western treatment options. But he is now so grateful that I insisted that we invest in acupuncture too. Your doctor too might be skeptical about acupuncture. However, a standard IVF treatment alone works rarely for many women.Also, before Jose, I tried two acupuncturists for a few sessions. Because I didn’t feel much difference, I dropped it. However, after one session with Jose, I saw a big difference physically and mentally.

I went to Jose for acupuncture for both my pregnancies. Both times he was so great to work with... very positive, explained the whole process, was encouraging while also managed expectations about the outcomes as a result of treatment. Both times, I got pregnant within months of seeing him (after multiple rounds of IVF without acupuncture). He is amazing and I will be forever grateful to him for optimizing my eggs and body for fertilization and pregnancy. He is just the best!

I came to see Jose after two failed IVF cycles from another clinic. I was at the point where I thought I would never be pregnant again but here I am today holding my baby boy in my arms due to Jose’s acupuncture and his recommendation to seek a second opinion with CCRM. I had multiple failed transfers before seeing Jose but he worked with me for several months prior to my transfer cycle and this last embryo finally stuck. He has exceptional knowledge about the whole process woman’s fertility. Very easy to talk to and helpful person. If it wasn’t part due to him I don’t think this cycle would have worked. Jose is amazing! Thanks to a referral from a friend, I went to Jose for help with fertility struggles. I had been going to a fertility clinic, was diagnosed with PCOS, and was told that IVF was my best option. I can honestly say that Jose spent so much more time explaining things to me than my doctor did. He is incredibly knowledgeable on the subject, as well as supportive. I am thrilled to say that after 3.5 months of regular visits to Jose twice a week, I am expecting my first child, due in May, without IVF! I joke with my husband that he is the father, but Jose got me pregnant :-). If you are experiencing infertility and feeling frustrated, make acupuncture with Jose your next step.

This was my first experience and acupuncture and will definitely not be my last. I have nothing but praises for Jose and his professionalism, intelligence and kindness during this process. I sought out acupuncture a few months into trying to conceive to help with the stress of trying and fertility. TTC truly felt so isolating and the forgotten part of health care; no one really cares unless you have been trying for over a year, or are already pregnant. Jose was different. He really cares and is supportive, compassionate, and so knowledgeable in his field. On some of my tougher days (after starting my cycle) he was always there with reassurance and hope.I have always been terrified of needles, and the acupuncture really didnt bother me at all. Jose was so good at explaining where he would be placing the needles, what it would feel like and was always very gentle. I spent about two months in acupuncture and always felt immense stress relief after leaving. We are now pregnant with our first child and are so thankful to Jose for all he has done!

I started seeing Jose in April 2019 after 2 miscarriages (1 natural, 1 IVF genetically normal embryo transfer.) At my consultation with Jose I explained everything Id been going through and he was very knowledgeable in fertility treatment. During my treatments Jose was friendly, the office and treatments were very relaxing. After about 2 months of seeing Jose I got a positive pregnancy test! I had a wonderful experience with José and would highly recommend his care. He was informative and talked me through what was going on and why IVF treatments had been unsuccessful. Two different doctors had told me I was at the end of the road, but after a few months of treatment with Jose, I am thrilled to be in my 2nd trimester!

My husband and I were diagnosed with unexplained infertility and conceived our son through IVF in 2009. We decided to try for our second without the help of reproductive technology, but after two and a half years of unsuccessful attempts, we knew we needed help. A friend recommended I see Jose for a consult and I began working with him in January 2014. I saw Jose for acupuncture twice a week and took herbs daily to support my menstrual cycle. My cycles had already been pretty regular so I didn’t experience much change in this area, but I found the acupuncture to be very relaxing and overall felt really good during the 6 months I saw Jose. After 6 months, my husband and I returned to our fertility doctor for updated testing. Once again our tests came back normal and our infertility remained unexplained. Our doctor said that we would be excellent candidates for another cycle of IVF, but we decided against it and went back to Jose with our test results. After reviewing my husband’s testing, Jose immediately recognized low morphology as an area of concern. What was considered “normal” by our doctor was not normal after all. Jose began treating my husband with herbs and after only 2 months, we conceived naturally! I started seeing Jose after I hadnt experienced any success from treating fertility with an acupuncturist with a general practice. I was amazed at the difference in seeing someone who has trained specifically in fertility from an acupuncture standpoint (Jose is one of very few people that is board certified in fertility). Not only did his eastern medicine explanations make a lot of sense in explaining my issues, but he has a strong understanding of western medicine and the tests and procedures my fertility clinic was performing. I ended up needing a lot more western medical intervention than I had hoped to eventually get pregnant, but I have no doubt that Jose helped a lot during that process, in stress reduction, sleep, regulation of cycle, and supporting my fertility. I think if I had started seeing him years ago when I started this process, he could have made an even greater impact in feeding my fertility in a way my body had not been for years. I came to Family Acupuncture prior to starting IVF treatment. Jose worked with me twice a week through two cycles of IVF. He is very knowledgeable and skilled with patients who are experiencing fertility issues. The process really reduced my stress and helped balance my system. Thankfully, the second round of IVF worked, and Im sure its due in part to this acupuncture treatment!

My husband and I had been trying to conceive for a little over a year when we first met with Jose. We had been meeting with a fertility specialist, but after the suggestion of a colleague decided to add another more holistic approach. Please make an appointment! I started seeing Jose when I was having many issues (stomach problems, anxiety, trouble sleeping) that were all explained by doctors as normal. When western medicine was failing, my husband suggested I try acupuncture. After my first appointment with Jose I instantly felt a sense of relief and support. He took the time to really listen and was excited to help, which is so uncommon with health professionals these days. After my first session, I felt an immediate difference. And I feel this way every time I go. Now, months later, my husband & I are TTC and we can confidently say we know Jose will be helping us on this journey!

Jose is an actual miracle worker. When I was diagnosed with PCOS, I was told to try acupuncture and I am so thankful I found Jose! I came to Family Acupuncture wanting to increase my chances of getting pregnant when I was using donor sperm (an expensive and sometimes grueling process). Though there wasnt anything clinically wrong with me, I found Joses friendly and knowledgable demeanor to immediately put me at ease. I have seen Jose over the past few years for various reasons and have always left his office feeling informed, very well cared for and excited for a positive outcome. This place is really good. I was trying to become pregnant for around 2 years and my IVF doctor(Dr styer from CCRM) referred this place. I started going for acupuncture for fertility and doctor Jose Ruiz helped me in getting pregnant through acupuncture treatment and I am finally three months pregnant now. I will recommend this place for anyone who are trying to become pregnant. Also Jose Ruiz is very kind and friendly and he will ask all questions related to your health before he starts his treatment and every time I go for treatment he asks if we have any changes in our health. Jose Ruiz also treats stress, anxiety and other things. Its worth going to this place.

I couldnt be happier with my experience here! Jose helped my husband and I get pregnant not once but twice. We had tried for almost two years with my first daughter to get pregnant. I had a number of tests done and the results were unexplained infertility. I am young and healthy and couldnt believe that I would have to do fertility treatments quite yet. I did three rounds of Clomid, but didnt have any luck. After being frustrated and emotional I wanted to try alternative measures. I had irregular periods so I thought that might be what was causing my issues. Jose treated me with herbs and acupuncture and on the third month we were pregnant! It was awesome!!When we thought about having our next child we didnt want to go through the emotional roller coaster of trying for a long time so when my daughter was about 15 months we went back to Jose. I first started seeing Jose about five months ago right after I was diagnosed with Diminished Ovarian Reserve. The doctor I was seeing at the time told me IVF was my best option and to try it right away. He also said I had only a 1-2% chance of ever conceiving on my own. I was devastated to say the least. I did not want to go down the IVF road. I did my research and found Family Acupuncture & Herbs of Reading and upon my first meeting with Jose I knew I was in the right hands. He was so knowledgeable, very kind and made me feel at ease instantly. I began to see him for acupuncture treatments twice a week while taking daily herbs. He also took the time to give me suggestions on diet changes which I thought was very helpful and always spent as much time answering my questions as I needed. Every time I saw Jose I felt so calm and my stress levels were greatly reduced. He even helped me out with some horrible neck pain one day. I walked out that day feeling like a new person! About four months into my acupuncture treatment I decided to go to a different Fertility clinic for a second opinion. They reran my tests and the two things that had led to the DOR diagnosis back in March had completely normalized, I was thrilled! They did discover a thyroid issue though and I started to take medication immediately. That doctor said to try for a few more months naturally without any fertility treatments at this time and see what happens. A few weeks later I found out I was pregnant! I consider Jose to be a big part of this happening and I would highly recommend his practice to anyone. I genuinely looked forward to every one of my sessions and I will continue to visit his practice in the future.

I have been a client of Joses since 2011 when I was treated for infertility. He helped me through my second IVF cycle which was a success! Most recently, I have been receiving treatment for a bulging disc in my lower back. After just a few treatments, I have had significant pain relief. I highly recommend Jose and his practice!

I first saw Jose when I was sick, stressed, and desperate for help. I have chronic GI problems and at this time in my life I was in a terrible flare-up caused by extreme stress and poor dietary choices. I called Jose and told him how miserable I was, and he fit me in that day. He gave me herbs which I took daily for about 4-5 weeks, and did double-sided acupuncture treatments two times per week to start. After just two doses of herbs I noticed an improvement, and with continued acupuncture, I had great relief from my symptoms. The stress and anxiety just disappeared, and the GI symptoms improved so much that I was able to work regularly and go out with friends again. I now see Jose once every two weeks for maintenance. Jose is patient, kind, and empathetic. He will spend a lot of time with you if you need it. I highly recommend his practice!

I have worked with many acupuncturists but Jose provides a very unique and modern approach to the work that I have never experienced before. When I first came to Jose, I was mentally & physically depleted due to various life stresses. Despite feeling so down and out, I immediately felt comfortable with Jose. I was hoping that the two together would help my chances. My doctors while ok with the acupuncture advised me against taking any herbal medicines. Well, after 2 years and 5 cycles of IVF treatments I still hadn’t been able to carry a viable pregnancy. I 100% believe that it wasn’t until I stopped IVF and began taking the herbal medicine along with acupuncture that helped me to become pregnant. As I am writing this I am 20 weeks pregnant. Jose really knows about the physiology of the female reproductive cycle and about fertility. For my particular case, he was very confidant telling me that I needed to see him twice a week and prescribed me Chinese herbs. I got pregnant 2 months after I started this regimen.I do believe that the acupuncture + herbs along with the changes I made to my diet helped me to get pregnant. I highly recommend Jose.

Upon recommendation from a friend I decided to try to find some relief for my migraine headaches from Jose at Family Acupuncture & Herbs of Reading. I had previously been to a chiropractor, tried medication and was still suffering. I started seeing Jose 16 weeks into my second pregnancy when my morning sickness continued on relentlessly. After 4 appointments, I felt like a human again! I was literally crying from lower back pain this morning. I called family acupuncture and herbs of reading and they where able to fit me in for an appointment. I was a bit skeptical as I had been seeing a chiropractor every other day plus receiving massage therapy Every other week with no results - in fact my pain had increased this morning.Jose, the acupuncturist that treated me was very professional and friendly which made me feel totally at ease. Immediately after the treatment I felt a significant amount of relief. Amazingly as the day went on I felt even better! I am profoundly thankful- and any doubts I may have had about acupuncture and its effectiveness have been completely debunked!!I have canceled my future appointments with my chiropractor as I plan to continue acupuncture treatments instead.((Im keeping the massage appointments! )) :)

Very satisfied with the result. My mom had a chronic pain in the shoulders, lower back. Even After 2 procedures she was skeptic about acupuncture. I have been suffering from migraine/ tension headaches for at least 8+ days out of the month. I have never had a day where I didnt have a headache. It was ruining my life. I lived on prescription pills, triptans, and excedrin but that didnt even work, plus it made me nauseous. Acupuncture with Jose has been the best decision I have ever made. He really cares about taking your pain away and Im happy to say Ive been migraine free for almost three weeks now and it has absolutely changed my life.
