Planned Parenthood - Wilmington Health Center

This was my first time going to any planned parenthood so i won’t try to claim they are all this way. But this was genuinely the best experience I’ve had at any medical facility/doctors office. They made sure I felt comfortable every step of the way and offered different services outside of what I went for. When they found out I didn’t have insurance and was paying out of pocket, they offered them free of charge. I am so grateful that this was where I went for my first wellness exam lol. They were truly amazing.

Never have I felt so humiliated and unheard leaving an office. I am on medicaid and Planned Parenthood is one of the only ones in the area that accepts Medicaid. Made an appointment almost a month ago for an annual. I showed up to my appointment this week and I have a few health conditions and concerns and needed to be seen. When I arrived, they asked me what I was there for front desk’s attendance were very kind and helpful. I told them and was then take back to the exam room, where the nurse right off the bat was rude and annoyed. Didn’t introduce herself or ask me any questions about myself. She told me very assertively that I didn’t need the exam and there is no reason I should have gotten one at the age I did and there I express the situation in full detail about my health concerns and needed the help she went to go ask a supervisor and I could hear them very RUDELY saying no absolutely not we can’t help her without even listing to my concerns. I then said okay if you can’t help me can you give me a referral and she said no. I then left and asked for my copay back and they asked if I would like to donate it or why I wasn’t able to be helped. Absolutely rude staff with no helpful answers or direction. Wouldn’t go here again if I had to. Felt unheard unseen and extremely uncomfortable at the fact they had the audacity to ask if would like to donate my money after being treated the way I was.

Theyve been consistently fast, incredibly respectful, and nice every single time Ive been. Ive never been super uncomfortable in medical settings but Ive never felt more welcome than when I come here for appointments or to pick up extra supplies when I run out. Every time Ive had an issue with appointments or medications its always been resolved super quick, (and to the best of their ability when certain legislation was passed and certain treatments werent available for a time). 10/10 would recommend, will be returning.

Lovely staff. From front reception through to the doc. Its not easy in this country to work there but no one made me feel uncomfortable. I needed bc to help control my endo and thats exactly what happened.Unfortunately the facility is in need of some love but that might just be par for the course having to be hidden away.No shaming so thank you.

I’d like to say thank you to everyone who works at this location. It can’t be easy, and yet they’re still the most welcoming place I’ve ever been to. The reception, nurses, and doctors are always friendly and compassionate. It means so much to me that they take the time to make sure that I am as comfortable as possible during my appointments. I struggle with all OBGYN care, so keeping me occupied with conversation and wiping away my tears goes a long way, even during routine paps. Thank you all for being so wonderful! It does not go unnoticed.

These are the kindest, most welcoming medical office staff I have ever been in contact with as a patient. Thanks to these kind souls, I started my testosterone treatment tonight, and I sobbed with joy. They answered my questions thoroughly and the practice run for the injection was very simple and easy to understand and I had no trouble doing it on my own for real. Very colorful waiting room, I love it there, this is the only medical facility where Im 100% looking forward to it -- due in part to the reason of course, but the environment is unlike any other medical office Ive been in and I just love it, very friendly and informative and supportive of trans people! 💚

Yeesh went to take my daughter here for birth control and what a ghetto dump. Staff are rude, not helpful and good lord late as heck. When I went to get up they were rude and told me I couldnt go with her. She was nervous as she should be all these people who work here have 0 people skills. Definitely my worst planned parenthood experience. Dont come the the ghetto for treatment/help they are unprofessional.

Amazing staff and a very safe environment! I had to go on a mini road trip to get here but it was absolutely worth it. I felt safe and comfortable the entire time. I saw Bree who was so sweet and had me laughing in situations I have felt uncomfortable in before. Their wait room has adult coloring books that helped with anxiety for me and an overall calm atmosphere. The protesters were no where near the building either - when I went they were out by the street.

I was nervous because it was my first time seeing a reproduction health doctor. But they made me feel safe and comfortable and all around great staff, wonderful atmosphere. Never once felt scared or like they did not care. Very welcoming, sweet, and patient staff from the receptionist to the nurse to the doctor.

Very compassionate care. They made me feel very comfortable. I felt like Brianna was super easy to talk to and took a lot of time. She was also very gentle!! Highly recommend!

These women are by far the most compassionate healthcare professionals that I have ever encountered. Current legislation does not make it easy to be a human, let alone one with a uterus. Even with being asked some of the most personal questions I have ever been asked, I felt cared for in a way that you can’t even really describe; no judgement, no guilt. Just above and beyond stellar care. You can tell when you enter the center that they care for their patients like they care for each other which is incredible. Would not go anywhere else for reproductive healthcare services.

I had an amazing experience with this location for my annual visit and honestly all other PP locations Ive used. From booking my appointment, to the intake with the front desk, my exam with the MA Kelly, and the visit with the NP Briana, I felt welcomed, heard, and treated with respect! The entire office was polite, had great personalities, and was running on schedule, I didnt wait for more than a few minutes for anything. Well done!!!

They do not know how to schedule appointments here. Be ready to have your whole day taken up if you come here. But they sure do take your money right when you get here. Then you wait for hours. Not just one or two. Weve been sitting here for 4 hours and still they have no time frame of when my girl is going to be seen. People that came in a hour after us has already left a hour ago. Very unfair to the customers that had earlier appointments to have to see that. This place should be shut down from the incompetent staffing.

I visited today to get an IUD inserted and I was so insanely nervous. Doctors visits are never my idea of fun. Violet was incredibly awesome and calmed my nerves 100% and assured me that I was in a safe place to discuss anything related to my past trauma if I felt comfortable. I have never been to Planned Parenthood before and all I can say is - we need to support them! They are incredible and really just want to help their patients. I will definitely be going there for future visits.

I went for my first appointment yesterday and I usually dont write reviews or take the time. However I just HAD too. From the moment I walked in I felt welcome and that at home feeling. All of the ladies from the front desk to my service were absolutely amazing. I would 10/10 recommend this place.

I missed a call from pph regarding my scheduled appt days before the appt I called back and they said that everything looks good with it so I can still go to my appt. Come the day of my appt close to the time I went to the office and they told me the provider wasn’t there. I just wish the staff would have told me ahead of time that the provider wasn’t there before I drove there. Usually I have a good experience with them but that inconvenience was unprofessional.

I needed to see someone urgently and they worked me in. The wait was long, but the lobby is comfortable, and the staff was amazing. I was treated well, and felt genuine concern from everyone, even the woman I spoke with at the call center. I have always been a supporter of the important work provided by Planned Parenthood, but never needed them before now. Im extremely grateful for their help.

Absolutely the best experience Ive had at an OB visit! The staff are so thoughtful and kind. I didnt feel rushed as they got to know my medical history, and every single woman who worked there made eye contact with me and addressed me by my name. Truly the most pleasant experience one could ever expect from a wellness check!

Came for a very important appt. My appt was supposed to start at 11:50, and it is currently 2:40. They were more than happy to take my payment of 500 dollars, and send me back out to the parking lot to wait for hours on end. You also can “bring a support person” however they must also stay in the parking lot for the entire duration of your appt.I came into the waiting room and sat down, see that if they are going to take my money and disregard my time, i will not show respect for their rules or closing time. Currently there is one other person in the waiting room, and they have been here for hours as well.Lady at the front counter was nice.

I just had my first visit here today. Everyone was so amazing and kind and helpful. I really like how secure the facility is. I felt like my concerns were heard and understood. I will definitely be coming back here if I need further care.

Had to wait an additional 40 mins after my appointment time, With an empty lobby. But, the tech and nurse were AMAZING. very kind and friendly. Kelly, made me feel very comfortable and relaxed and greatly reduced my fear of womens health.

The office is very clean and the employees at the front desk were very kind and helpful! I did wait at least an hour after my appointment time because they are short staffed, so be patient if you go. The nurse who took care of me was excellent and so friendly. But it was pretty pricy for birth control. I enjoyed the office and employees, but I will most likely not come back because of the price :/

I have been to this office twice and both times were the worst experience I have ever had in a health office. I have been to planned parenthood in the past in a different state and trusted them so went back when I moved to wilmington. They prescribed me a medication that the top symptom is heart issues when I have heart issues that run in the family. Day 1 taking the medication I thought I was going to have a heart attack not realizing it was from a medication they gave me for an infection until i researched the medications side effects. I had abnormal pap results and tried getting a hold of the office for 3 days and no one called me back for 5 days. The office is extremely hard to get a hold of. They do not do well with communicating with patients and dont seem to truly care about the patients well being. I got a hold of the office and even after I stated I was extremely scared about my results and really would like to speak to a nurse so I could understand them better they decided to call back days later. I went in to get a record release signed after being referred to a specialist that they never sent my records too. After signing I asked if they could also put on file my medication reaction so Im not prescribed that again and they argued with me stating it was probably covid not my medication they prescribed. I basically had to argue to get a note on my chart which didnt seem right to me. Anyone whos thinking of going to pph do yourself a favor and get a real doctor who will stay on top of your medical health.

I’ll never understand why PP gets such a horrible reputation. I’ve always been a huge supporter of Planned Parenthood but had never needed to go to one until today. I have 3 part time jobs and no insurance so I figured PP was my best option. I’ve never felt more comfortable and accepted and cared for. I was only there for maybe a half hour and they were beyond wonderful. I’m grateful.. to say the least.

IUD insertion was performed cruelly without numbing. Excruciatingly painful. Horrible experience. I recommend a real doctors office to receive humane treatment.

This was by far the worst experience I have ever had with a doctor, I went to get a general pelvic examination and screenings because I had been dealing with several issues lately that I just wanted to make sure weren’t signs of any major problems and wanted to see if any of them were treatable. When the appointment rolled around I showed up and after I wanted a while then got called back they asked me what I was there for. I explained that I needed a general examination and told them the issues I had been having. The woman asking me these questions began arguing with me saying that she didn’t see a reason for me to be here and that she couldn’t give me an examination unless I told her what she needed to be looking for. I once again explained my reoccurring issues and she just kept saying I needed to tell her exactly what she needed to look for insisting that I was hiding something by saying that I don’t know exactly what is wrong with me and that’s why I was there.. this argument went on for about 5-10minutes and ended with be having a panic attack and walking out on the appointment because she refused me a general checkup and acted as if I was stupid for asking for one. I will never be going back here ever again.

Great people that work there. They explain all the answers they give you to every question you have. Theyre super sweet and make you feel comfortable. Never have I ever had any rude doctors or nurses, they are sweet. I go to them for anything rather on base cause navel base doesnt know what theyre talking about.

First off, the staff was incredible. They made sure that I was comfortable throughout my entire experience, holding my hand and helping me through the process. The nurse midwife was a little stressed out, someone didnt show up for their shift and so the process took a very long time. So prepare yourselves with something to do and maybe even a blanket because it gets cold. I was happy that there were no protestors outside but Im sure this isnt always the case. I was honestly terrified of what this experience would be to me, Ive read and heard a lot of women say that their experiences were inhumane and staff treats you like garbage but this was NOT the case. I highly recommend this clinic, when the abortion process was over they provided some ginger ale and a heating pad. There are books where people have written words of encouragement and their experiences with the process which is very helpful to your support process. If you are making this same choice, I believe that you are in good hands at Wilmington Planned Parenthood

I went in for an STI test and I waited two hours. The clinic was almost empty during the entire time I waited. When I finally got called back, the lady forgot to draw my blood and then made me wait ANOTHER two hours in the lobby IN THE MIDDLE OF MY APPOINTMENT just so she could take care of other patients. They are very disorganized and very unhelpful. If you need to get an STI test done, go somewhere else. This is not the place for you.

Extremely disappointed in their staff when it comes to scheduling . Please make sure if you are calling to cancel someone’s appointment that they made a WEEK ago that you do the right thing and at LEASt leave them a voicemail. I left work early and now wasted my gas to get to this appointment. Unprofessional

I had an incredibly unfortunate experience with the planned parenthood in wilmington, NC. I would not recommend anyone go to this facility as the PAs & midwife clearly do not value their patients safety or well being. I have always been a huge planned parenthood supporter and advocate, however after my recent experience I am beginning to understand the negative media surrounding them. I made a scheduled appointment after work for both my required annual examination AND birth control visitation and waited nearly an hour after My schedule appointment slot to be called back. At this time the PA took an additional 20 minutes to come and see me then told me that he only had time to complete 1/2 items I was schedule for. In other words I could either have my birth control implant completed OR my examination. This was after I reported right abdominal discomfort in my medical history. I was not seen for my examination on this date because the PA ran behind his schedule and wanted to leave on time despite his daily work duties not having bee satisfied. It is absolutely horrendous quality of care and I hope that no one else will have to go through this demeaning type of situation. Not sure why someone would go into healthcare if they dont value other peoples health or want to actually make a positive impact. Do not go to this location.

I love it here. I left my original obgyn office because of how uncomfortable they made me feel but I can say the love here is genuine. Everyone made me feel comfortable and respected. The staff are amazing!

I went here with my girlfriend for a relatively simple and quick procedure. We had a 5:40 pm appointment and waited 2 hours just to see a doctor while waiting in a nearly empty waiting room. Friendly staff yet such a ridiculous wait time. Dont come here unless the rest of your day is absolutely free.

Wait is super long. Even when you have an appointment. Always wait for an hour and a half after your appointment time. HOWEVER staff is very friendly and the doctors are experienced and gentle. Just wish when you make an appointment they could get you in at that time. Been here many times, will return.

The staff are amazing, such sweethearts and do everything they can to make you comfortable. my only complaint is that whenever I call I never get an answer and sometimes a call back. but in person, all of the staff do what they can to make sure youre safe and comfortable.

The best PP I’ve ever been to. The staff is absolutely wonderful and so helpful. They really make you feel awesome and like it’s a judgment-free zone. Can’t say enough great things about them :)

Why have people schedule appointments if you won’t be seen until 2 hours later. I had to drive here from SC already a 3 hr drive and to wait another 2 hrs is crazy.

Stop sending people to our house and to our neighborhood, both of which have clear “No Soliciting” signs.

Planned parenthood doesn’t take planned parenthood medicaid insurance for males. This place seems to be kind of sexist, I did not feel welcomed.

I got an IUD there and they made me feel very welcomed and relaxed.

Drove a friend here with my 2y/o. Been here since 10 am and now it’s 2:22. Thank God I packed drinks, snacks and extra diapers. Seen people leave who CAME after her. They are lucky it wasn’t me in there because I would raise hell. And going home while she was in there wasn’t an option since we live an hour and a half away

The whole staff made me feel welcomed and comfortable. It was easy to schedule a appointment online.

You have to make an appointment and don’t get seen at the time of the appointment or shortly after . I waited 2hrs and did not receive any type of service . Yes the place is very clean but the service I rate a 1
