We started and ended our infertility journey within a month span with this practice. I had high hopes as I wasn’t feeling heard from my OB that we were struggling to conceive and when meeting with Dr Shamma over FaceTime, he expressed understanding of wanting children back to back (we are experiencing secondary infertility). We went to the office to have the SIS procedure and he was unable to thread the catheter into the uterus due to scar tissue. He was able to do an ultra sound which did show a large endometrioma on one of the ovaries that we were completely unaware of. Dr. Shamma told use that our only chance of reproduction is ivf. After receiving the $28k bill, I made an appt with CNY fertility. After talking with the nurse practitioner for initial consult, she said that if you can’t thread a catheter for SIS, you can’t thread a Cather for egg retrieval or IVF. She said that even if they forced it, the scar tissue on the uterine lining would make for an unsafe pregnancy. She recommended hysteroscopy with d&c to clean up the uterus along with laparotomy to drain the endometrioma for better ovary function (can’t remove due to risk of eliminating function). I am now scheduled for all the above with CNY Fertility who treated me as a human and wants to get down to the root cause of infertility and then start conservative treatment before resorting to IVF (our preference due to cost of IVF).Long story short: IVF Michigan is about the money of a single cycle. They don’t care about the quality of the home for the embryo, safety of the pregnancy or conservative measures.

I think this is maybe the second time Ive ever written a Google review for anything, but I thought it was important to share my harmful experience with IVF Michigan so others might not have to go through something similar. I also want to acknowledge that there are a wide variety of reasons folks pursue IVF, and my story/reasons are not going to be shared by everyone. We began seeing receiving services at IVF Michigan in the spring of 2022. My first appointment was completed over FaceTime while the doctor was in his car, driving to Chicago with his family. We were initially told that we might be good candidates for IUI and completed requested testing. When we asked about the possibility of vericocele in my husband, we were told not to worry about it. During my water sonogram, the doctor made comments about how my anatomy looked good, unlike the patient he had just seen before and then proceeded to tell me about this other patients concerns. In October, we were told that we had a 1-2% chance of conceiving naturally, a 3-4% chance if we tried IUI and a 60% chance if we did IVF. IVF was not covered by our insurance at the time and the out of pocket cost of $17,000+ per round was not realistic for us. I changed jobs and got insurance that covered fertility treatment, including IVF, if we went through U of M. We requested records from IVF Michigan on 2 separate occasions well before our first appointment with U of M, but our records were not faxed over until just today, when my husband called for the third time and asked for confirmation that a fax had been sent. Our first appointment with U of M was last week. The doctor looked confused when we told her our chances of conceiving with IUI and said that the chances were more likely 15-20%. She asked if my husband had seen a urologist to see if vericocele might be the issue, which he had not as IVF Michigan told us that was not a cause for concern. My husband resubmitted a semen sample on Wednesday last week and had an appointment with a urologist today. He does indeed have vericocele, which can be addressed with a fairly simple outpatient procedure that is covered by our insurance. If my husband had not had this procedure and we moved forward with IVF, the urologist informed my husband that the risk of miscarriage in the first trimester could be 60-70%. This was shocking to us, as this was totally new information. Our experience with IVF Michigan feels predatory, as though we were being steered towards the most expensive route for conception, even though there were other safer, less invasive measures that would be covered by our insurance. I am truly saddened and enraged by this experience. We spent a year of our lives trusting this agency and feel like we were misinformed and led astray. I dont want anyone else to experience this, as infertility on its own is challenging enough to deal with.

I could not be more thankful for this office and their staff of AMAZING people. After years and years of battling infertility behind closed doors, month after month of ovulation inducing medication, surgeries and an unfortunate etopic pregnancy that almost resulted in the loss of my right fallopian tube, my husband and I decided to take the next step and leaped into the world of IVF. We scheduled a consultation with Dr. Cottrell and immediately felt the passion she possesses for what she does and the compassionate care she pours into her patients. Living in the U.P of MI options for infertility care are limited, we opted for the Ann Arbor office as my husband and I both have family there, Dr. Cottrell and her nurses worked with the distance; creating calanders of dates to go to my local OB and local hospital for lab draws, ultrasounds, etc and it worked seamlessly. Now after spending most of my adulthood wondering if and when, I have been gifted with the most beautiful set of twins, I will forever be greatful for. ❤️

I cant say enough good things about Dr. Shamma, the nurses, and the clerks at IVF Michigan Ann Arbor. Theyve been there for me through my miscarriage, and helped me with medication and close monitoring and ultrasounds to conceive again! Dr. Shamma is very nice, understanding, and involved, providing options and oversight for my PCOS and infertility. The nurses are so sweet, supportive, and so hardworking. The front desk staff are so easy to reach and schedule with. We have just graduated our treatment and are happily 12 weeks pregnant with our rainbow baby with help of Dr. Shamma and his team. I highly recommend.

Even though I have yet to successfully produce a live child I can not say enough wonderful things about Dr. Ayers and his nursing staff and feel that it is in no way a result of the care I have received. They are very understanding when scheduling appointments, make time for you in the event of an emergency, Dr. Ayers has held my hand as I fall asleep for the surgeries I have required, and they have even worked with me financially when the expenses get to be overwhelming.Kathy reminds me of super woman the way she seems to always be one step ahead of things with anticipating your needs and making herself available after hours for questions and extended support. I hate to use the over used term compassionate care but they are the truest example of compassionate care I have seen. After a loss the office called just to make sure I was doing ok even though medically they had done all they could do for me. I have seen many doctors throughout my endeavors and I can honestly say this team has it way more right than a lot of them out there.Again, I am not filling this box with rosy sentiment because I have a bundle of joy that Dr. Ayers has helped me create, because any infertility doctor gets lucky sometimes and gets all the credit for a baby. It takes an extraordinary doctor to win over the patient so much that they take the time to fill out google reviews when they are still in the throws of infertility.I would and have recommended Dr. Ayers and his staff to everyone. I feel in my heart that if I am meant to have a baby Dr. Ayers will be the one to make it happen.Update : We have a beautiful 14 month old and are looking forward to baby #2.

Dr. Cottrell deserves a full five stars! We are very pleased with her. She clearly cares about her patients and personally reached out to both my husband and I when we had a communication issue with some test results. Mind you this was after five on a Friday before a holiday weekend. She is patient and takes the time to answer all of your questions when you meet with her and it’s very supportive. We look forward to following her recommendations which will hopefully lead to a successful pregnancy.

We cannot share enough good things about this clinic, particularly Dr. Cottrell, our nurse Jessica, and really the whole nursing staff. We just finished a year of IVF and birthed our healthy, beautiful baby a week ago. We are a queer and trans couple and Dr. Cottrell and her team were beyond respectful and supportive. We always felt so cared for in every single procedure and step of our process, even when we had some hiccups and challenges along the way. Thank you, IVF Michigan and Dr. Cottrell for playing such an integral role in our family :)

I wish I could give Dr. Shamma and the team at the Ann Arbor location 1million stars! They truly care about everyone, and their treatment. They always are there to answer questions, and concerns even on the days they are closed. Even during COVID and the unfortunate circumstances Dr. Shamma still takes an interest in spouses, even though they cant be in the office with us. I have never been more impressed and happy with a medical office. They make you want to stay in touch, and every nurse took time to say good-bye to me on my last visit and I will truly miss them all. Dr. Shamma is very compassionate, knowledgeable and dedicated to his practice. We are forever grateful for IVF Michigan.

Too many babies die because of IVF. The ones that survive are left in freezers for years. Some times freezers break down and tens of thousands of babies die. Unethical.

The first time we did this several years ago went rather smoothly. This second time has been incredibly frustrating and I am constantly on the verge of tears. The online portal and client experience has been horrible and we have been trying to get an appointment for four months and either we can’t get through to anyone or no one returns our voicemail or the login we have been given was incorrect and now they say the paperwork is not complete even though when I had logged in everything turned green. It is incredibly frustrating. All we want is another baby and the clinic seems to care less.

If you have an infertility condition and want to get pregnant, set up an appointment with Dr Shamma. This Practice is one of the best in the world. We lived within a half hour of this office when we started going to this practice and was successful with our first daughter. We have since moved to central Illinois and decided to come back in 2008. We had success again with our second daughter. We are now (2010) coming back to attempt a third.Through the years we have been treated at other practices (before finding Dr Shamma), and have met with and investigated a few other Doctors after moving to Illinois.Bottom line - I can not imagine a better Doctor, Staff, and Lab then what makes up this practice.

My husband and I were struggling to get pregnant. We live about 45 minutes from this location but it was worth the drive. We went and seen Dr. Ayers. He was a very good doctor and explained and helped us understand everything that was going on. Within 2 months of seeing him I was able to get pregnant. Definitely recommend this office.

Dr. Shamma and his staff at the Ypsilanti and Bloomfield Hills offices are excellent. Dr. Shamma always took the time to make sure we understood what was needed. All of his staff was friendly and available to answer any questions we had. Without IVF Michigan we wouldnt have our beautiful little boy. Thank you.

Went in for testing on a Friday. Was told results would in the following Wednesday at the latest. By Thursday I had my doctor call to try to get the results and my doctor was told that the results had been sitting at this clinic since Monday but none of the doctors there had time to sign them. It took my doctor screaming at them on Friday multiple times before anyone could be bothered to find a doctor at the clinic to sign off on them. Add in the my doctor was told initially on Friday that the results had been faxed. When my doctor tried to confirm the fax number, she was then told that the results still hadnt been signed. We had initially decided that if any further fertility testing/care was required that we would be using this clinic going forward. After our experience there, we have decided to look for a new clinic that takes its patients care a little more seriously.

After 5 years of struggling with unexplained” fertility issues and four failed IUI’s at a clinic in Seattle we decided to try IVF. We worked with Dr. Cottrell and I cannot say enough positives about her and the nursing team that helped us get pregnant. Doctor Cottrell went above and beyond by listening to what I needed and never making me feel like I had an insignificant question or concern. Everyone’s fertility experience is different so at the end of the day I would at least set up a consultation and see if this is the place for you. I’m so happy we did and feel fortunate that we are expecting!
