Planned Parenthood - Anchorage Health Center

I went in for a basic screening appointment and was charged for it fully because the doctor didnt want to code it properly and my insurance covers this type of work 100%. Not to mention how rude the staff were to me when I was trying to get my problem solved. I value my peace and Im not broke, so I paid, but I feel bad for those that need to see the doctor and are not as fortunate as I am. This country treats people horribly when it comes to health care and sadly, Planned Parenthood is part of the problem, not the solution. I will not be going to Planned Parenthood in the future.

The 4 ladies who helped me with my procedure were awesome! Very kind and thorough the whole time. I felt very comfortable and cared for. I highly recommend this place (the only clinic in anchorage anyways).

Amazing people! Ada, Denise, Jen and the two ladies who did my procedure were all so so amazing and made me feel beyond comfortable. Helped me through EVERYTHING and were the most comforting and caring people ever. I was so anxious at the beginning of my visit and I left smiling and without ANY anxiety. Love love love this facility and the people.

I HAD AN AWESOME EXPERIENCE HERE!!! I met JaNice, MO, and Nioa they were all so welcoming and made me feel super comfortable. I most definitely recommend them for your sexual health needs.

After years of trusting Planned Parenthood clinics in various states, and having great experiences, this office by far let me down. The provider seemed knowledgeable but after her telling me that women over 40 need an annual Pap smear done every 5 years-basically discouraging me from doing what I knew was right and having my “annual” done. After talking to a REAL doctor, it’s actually every 3 years. 5 years between tests could easily cost someone their LIFE. She did have me perform the self swab for the 3 major STI’s prevalent in this area, to which I never received the results for. I logged into the patient portal, which did not show the results, nor that the test had even been performed. I requested a response through the portal, which I’d be surprised if I got an answer back since it looks like the test was never ordered.Where did my sample go is my question?I Will NEVER go back as it’s obvious they don’t give a hoot about the public’s safety or my health. Extremely DISAPPOINTED with this office.

I had my first appointment with them yesterday and cant say enough good things about this place. The clinic was nice and clean, staff were friendly, care was thorough and prompt, and I felt I had all of my needs met and questions answered. Perhaps my only complaint is that they are stretched very thin with appointment times due to a lack of providers in the area, as Ive had to schedule my appointments about 2 weeks out, but thats to be expected here. I will be going back to them for continuous care.

I usually love this place but I want to offer a warning.Im a stay at home mother with a 3yr old and went in to my scheduled appointment today. They refused to see me because he was with me citing COVID protocols. Then had the nerve to ask me if I could reschedule to when he wasnt with me. No, I cant, I am his primary caretaker and anyone that could watch him works during their operating hours.They tried to offer a list of alternative providers, which I called and none of them provide the services I need AND none of them took my insurance..Ive taken him in with me to appointments here before COVID and it wasnt an issue. Ive taken him to multiple (30+) hospital appointment the past 3 months for my MIL who has cancer and he has NEVER been an issue.I found the perfect place to go where I could keep up with my reproductive health and now I am back to square one.I dont feel its right to deny someone medical care because they have a young child with them, it felt extremely wrong.

First: Nobody could keep the purpose of my visit straight. It took a ton of extra time just to sort that out because someone in Washington mixed up my visit purpose. Techs were rude, wait times long, and the only thing offered was extensive blood testing.Second, I was charged $800 for this bloodwork and told Id be able to go over the results in a Telehealth visit. Ive been calling and messaging via the patient portal for over two months now trying to get that follow-up. Nobody can make a simple appointment apparently.So I got robbed for nearly a thousand dollars because its impossible to just call the Anchorage office and talk to someone, and the patient portal is a farce where nobody responds.

I came in today for a medical abortion, all staff were so friendly, kind and overall in a great mood. Made my experience in this weird time a 10/10.

I have have all but given up hope in having people listen to me about my period pain. Most providers I have went to treated me like I was over dramatic when I told them about the pain. And would just tell me to lose weight. But when I came into the room and talked with the tech I felt like they actually cared. It made me feel so happy.

I scheduled an appointment a week in advance that was extremely urgent and important and go to my appointment and they say they have NO provider for me. I didn’t get notified about not being able to be seen and the next available appointment is months out. What kind of establishment for womens health doesn’t bother to let people know when things have changed? I was told I could go through direct care for birth control but no body has the type of money for that that’s about 350$ out of pocket. Ridiculous. I feel as a women so dissimissed and disrespected when I need care ans that’s not right. Just goes to show how much health care people actually care.

Im surprised at the negative review. Ive been to this office twice recently. Once in January and once in February 2018. My wait time was less than 8 minutes each time. I was weighed, had my blood pressure taken, given the cloth to cover myself, and within a few minutes, a nurse came in and went over things with me about my health. Both times I had great nurses, knowledgeable, helpful, morale builders. I will go back as I do for my annual exam. They send over the form for me to get a mammogram, and those people call me the next day. Im very impressed.

My experience at Planned Parenthood was better than I expected! Everyone was very kind, caring and were able to answer all my questions. The waiting rooms and exam rooms were comfortable. I was there to get a general womens wellness exam and it was the most comfortable (as well as they can be) exam I have ever had done.

Had a vasectomy done at a much better price than any other provider would quote. The employees were all super nice and took very good care of me during what could be a nerve racking procedure.

I moved to Alaska almost 6 years ago and have gone to the Anchorage location almost every year for various health concerns and treatment. They have always treated me with respect and made sure I was safe. Ive gotten referrals to get additional care from PPH and they have followed up with me each time. The nurses and Doctors were caring and attentive to me needs and concerns. Yes, waits were long once in a while, but they apologized and continued to give me the care I needed. I do want to say to the veteran nurses and Doctors there; thank you for your service and continuing to care for your country!

Ive been to this clinic several times, and theyve always been great about listening to me and hearing me. I have never been treated with anything but kindness and respect by the doctors and staff here. After experiencing a number of rash, unfriendly and bully docs around town, I make PP my go to for any gyno work needed.

Friendly and professional, but was told STD test results may take more than one week. I’m used to getting results in two days max.

My main complaint is about the nurse practitioner who I ended up seeing. Granted, I did come in as a walk in and was told to come back 3 different times, the front staff was friendly but each time I had to retell them the purpose of my being there. When I did get into the exam room, I once again was asked/told what I was there for incorrectly. I went through why I was actually there with the nurse in detail. The waiting I was fine with, but when the actual nurse practitioner came in she again incorrectly told/asked me why I was there. She had no notes from the previous nurse and even turned the monitor around to show me there was nothing on it and was extremely inattentive. She wrote me a presciption for ibuprofen, didnt give me the prescription paper or ask what pharmacy I needed it sent to or relay the information to the front desk. If you dont have time to actually give a patient the time they need, be honest about the time or ask if they would like to make an appointment.

I made an appointment here when I was considering switching birth controls. I feel like the counseling I got was fair and balanced and I felt informed and supported in my decisions. I got a Mirena IUD placed by a nurse practitioner and I was surprised by the fact that it didnt hurt in the least bit! Very good experience.

I was a little hesitant after reading the one review but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. My visit went extremely well. I arrived about 15 min early, which was good so I had time to do the paperwork and then I was taken back about ten minutes after my appointment time. The staff were all very friendly and knew their stuff! I have no complaints whatsoever about this place and would recommend it to anyone in need of the services they offer.

I was properly diagnosed here, after seeing many clueless Doctors elsewhere. Friendly (yet over worked) Staff was beyond helpful. I felt comfortable and in good hands here not to mention I was able to pay out of pocket and afford it. I am very grateful and defunding them would be terrible for those of us they help. Its not just about abortions people its about health and they took care of mine.

I made appointment with my wife there. They told us to come around 6:30pm. On the date of the appointment we showed up checked in and done the naccery paper work. After they called my wife. I was waiting around like 20mins. When they called me in. I got a bad vibe plus I didnt like the way they treated me and my wife. They act vindictive to me and treated my wife like a victim she even didnt like the how the whole thing went they tryed have us fill in paperwork we didnt need to do.

I was denied all forms of birthcontrol due to genetic conditions. However they did not inform me of this until AFTER I drove 300 miles to see them. The staff (besides Michael) seemed confused about everything going on, and was not willing to help me beyond telling me no. After spending hours on the phone with the Anchorage office and the actual P.P offices, I am going home with no answers, and no forms of birth control.Side note: I have been taking Depo for years and was never once declined than. Im not sure whats going on but they completely dropped the ball on this one. I wish this was the first time P.P had been incapable of communicating.

I will never debate the important access and resources that Planned Parenthood offers to women. Indispensable. This review is not over that.Planned Parenthood Anchorage are intentionally deceptive in the way they bill and take money from people who seek out their assistance. They are capable of slyly reducing the cost of services up front only to bill the individual months later for random fees and services.Planned Parenthood, I am certain you would have been sued by now if the people you have exploited could afford to defend their own liberties in court.

I went here and I got a very judgemental vibe. Yes I understand its a womens and men health clinic. But I felt like there was some staff that DID NOT stand behind the core values and confidentiality.

Always feel in good hands when Im there. Everyone is helpful and friendly. They took great care of me. I will always go to then for my health care needs.

Staff was nice but I do not recommend coming here if you do not have insurance because they will call for months and years asking you to pay when you do not have the money. Try Alaska health department, they’re irk with you if you do not have health insurance.

Very helpful. A great place for birth control and STD/STI screenings. They have a sliding scale so anyone can enjoy good sexual health.

The staff are so kind and knowledgeable.I was nervous, and they understood and treated me with the utmost respect and care.Great experience.

Everyone was so nice and helpful. They made me feel very comfortable and helped me calm down when I had a freak out moment.

Super friendly staff, I saw a nurse within minutes, the doctor was very informative and easy to talk to!
