I highly recommend this practice - I had a great experience throughout my pregnancy. I saw Dr Cleberg, Dr Zhang and Dr Iyer, and all were great about answering all my questions. The practice was well organized. It was easy to schedule appointments and they were great about returning my calls.

The doctors are great but absolutely some of the worst receptionist staff. They scheduled me at one location, called a week later to say oh wait I think you need to go to this location, and then sent a confirmation back for the first location. Given the conformation (and the most recent communication sent just a few days before the appointment) referring to the first location (the one Ive gone to for years) I went to the first location and was berated for being at the wrong place. Again doctors are great but reception staff is very hard to deal with.Edit--The response below is incorrect. This is the location I went to down to the suite number (250). The review represents the experience I had with this location.

New patients beware. My wife had a general check up at the beginning of March. She called on March 29th, a Friday morning, and left a voicemail wanting to speak with her doctor. The automated system said a return call would happen within 24-48 business hours. They never returned the call. The following Wednesday (more than 48 hrs later) she called and was only notified when she called that they received her voicemail and opted to not call her back, and that her doctor had retired the previous week. This is incredibly unprofessional and poor patient care. A provider should not take new patients if they are going to be retiring the same month. Or at the very least the patient should be informed that the provider is retiring so they can choose a different one. Also, it is not enough to document that the voicemail is received and not call the patient back. If the voicemail says responses within 24-48 hrs, the patient should not have to follow up after the 48 hour mark to speak to their provider or just anyone in the office. It would be more professionally courteous to tell patients up front if there is going to be a delay in responses especially if it is because their doctor will no longer be at the practice. The office also did not try to right this wrong. My wife was told she would need to make and pay for a new appointment with a different doctor to address her concerns, even though the lapse in care is the fault of the office. We will not be returning. And before their response is “Oh, you probably went to the other CWC in this office,” no. This was the second floor suite and if any of you liked Kim Severn, she retired last week.

The physicians = 5 stars but the administration = 0. Have had a wonderful experience with and great care from the doctors, but otherwise engaging with CWC has been a terrible experience. Their billing dept has billed us erroneously more than once, and calling them is an exercise in limitless patience because any actual critical thinking about addressing their mistakes can only be done by supervisors. Even then, the supervisors do not want to be helpful and will only reluctantly update/correct their errors in writing after being asked to do so a few times. The local staff in the office cant help, which is perfectly fine, but since there is a customer service aspect to any business, even clinics, one would think theyd have a better process for helping patients who are not being helped by the company to which they have outsourced their billing. Dealing with CWCs administrative nonsense has been extremely frustrating.

UPDATE: I was able to get into Capital Womens Care of Bethesda and had a positive experience with all of the doctors and Kim Severn, their Midwife. Once you are in, the care is very good, the issue is on the administrative side. The receptionists just dont care about patients in the way that the clinical staff does. On multiple occasions the clinical staff intervened to make sure the receptionists were scheduling me correctly for the OB appointments I needed. That intervention meant I was able to be well taken care of. However, there were a number of very rude and negative interactions with the front desk staff that had me on the verge of tears from frustration and a feeling of disrespect and had those interventions not occured I could see my health being put at risk due to the receptionists not providing me with the appointments I needed. For clarification, I do recommend Capital Womens care. I had a healthy baby delivered by Dr. Cleberg, and felt well taken care of throughout. However, I recommend that patients leverage the medical staff to provide the admin staff direction on their behalf. The admins do not care about patients, and will put your health at risk without a second thought.ORIGINAL POST:It’s been a really painful to even get an appointment in the first place. Their process requires you to fax all your records in advance of any scheduling. But when I had my doctor fax records they claimed to not receive them. On top of that the receptionist was not very helpful at all on resolving the issue. She offered no alternatives and refused to double check she had not missed any faxes that came in. She just told me to have them faxed again as if I have all day to just re-do things repeatedly to fit into their broken processes. I’ve now called 4 times today alone (called yesterday too) and am nowhere closer to making an appointment.

I’ve had a really difficult time with Capital Women’s care. I went to the emergency room early in my pregnancy due to hyper emesis and Capital Women’s Care refused to see me any sooner than two months out even though I NEEDED nausea medication. The ER thought this was ridiculous and even referred me, but Capital Women’s would not budge and told me to go to urgent care, because I was not already under their care so it was no liability to them. The day before I had my son I was in the hospital with pain and fluid coming out because baby was lowering. They offered to induce me, I said yes, and then they said “actually we are booked today and sending you home”. Unreal. I was in there the next day in active labor and agony and they tried sending me home again. When I finally gave birth, I was improperly stitched up and had to go back to the office for repairs multiple times. I was supposed to be prioritized for surgery in December but lo and behold they are too booked for me again. At every single step of this horrible process I have been let down due to their volume. Please go elsewhere for better care.*EDIT: The day after I posted this review I received a confrontational call from Capital Womens care saying that I broke doctor patient trust and they will not be conducting my surgery for me, that I should go elsewhere.

I loved my OB experience at this practice. Scheduling appointments was easy and the billing manager was accessible. The doctors are responsive when pregnant patients call at any time of day. Also, everyone (from the front desk to the OBs) was professional and followed modern protocols. I didn’t feel any pressure when I declined multiple cervical exams and one blood test, although I do think they could do a better job of informing you about what to expect at each appointment. I think the practice also benefits from having a midwife and a PA because they were able to spend more time answering some of my questions as a first time mom.

My experience at the office was fine. They told me to come in early but when I tried to it was their lunch break and I was treated like I was putting everyone out for arriving at the time I was told to arrive; However in the aftermath, it was worse - my insurance repeatedly tried to contact them to get more information on the services they were billing. They gave the clinic 45 days to provide more information and the clinic did not do so so my insurance charged me hundreds of dollars. CWC sent me a bill for hundreds of dollars without questioning the insurance denying the claim or calling me. It should be the basic work of a health care clinic to ensure patients are slapped with unnecessary charges and to manage the insurance negotiation. Instead, they ignored the insurance company and put the labor and stress on their patients to manage. I had a poor experience at a CWC in foggy bottom in the past and now have had a bad experience here, and particularly with OBGYN when women are often under very high stress, cannot recommend.

Let me start by saying that I have had to wait 2 weeks before posting this review, as I wanted to be sure that I collected every single one of my thoughts regarding my experience from start to finish. I had a medical situation that I needed to be checked urgently, as it was causing me extreme discomfort. I tried to schedule an appointment at the Rockville location (or any, for that matter), but I was told that I needed to wait 3 months in order to schedule an appt., and that it would not even be with a Doctor. I was also asked what my race and religion were over the phone before being allowed to schedule. Long after my situation had been resolved, I decided to keep the appt. The day before my scheduled appointment, I wondered why I hadnt received a confirmation, or a link to fill out new patient paperwork, etc., so I called the Rockville office, and they let me know that my appointment had to be canceled (this was my first time hearing of this!). After much finagling of MY schedule, they were able to schedule another appointment, but for two weeks later. I was also told that this appointment was to be at the Bethesda location. I confirmed the address, and saved it in my planner. A couple of days before my 2nd scheduled appointment, I received both an email confirmation and a text confirmation, for my appointment at the Bethesda location (address was included in the email confirmation). I also received a link to fill out paperwork on the patient portal, prior to my appointment; which I did promptly. When I arrived at my appointment at the Bethesda location, I was not greeted. I saw a kiosk to complete online check-in. I scanned my ID and insurance card, and then was asked to complete the same forms that I had already completed on the website before my appt. After this was done, the extremely rude, and customer service-lacking person at the front desk, gave me many forms to fill out (including the forms I filled out prior to my appointment, and then AGAIN at the kiosk), and asked for my ID and insurance cards again. I let her know that I already scanned them in, to which she replied that they needed them anyway. I asked her why I needed to complete these forms for a third time. She said that since I checked in at the kiosk, all record of me filling out the forms online had been deleted. **Let me just clarify that in the confirmation email, they state that you are REQUIRED to check in at the kiosk when you arrive.** When I asked why I needed to complete the forms for a third time, she said sometimes the kiosk doesnt function properly, so you still need to fill out the paper forms no matter which option you choose. I went to sit down and fill out my paperwork for the 3rd time, and then I was called to the reception window. The person told me that my appointment was actually at the ROCKVILLE location. I showed her my appointment confirmation WITH THE ADDRESS of the Bethesda location--where I currently was. She said that Yes, while it says you are scheduled at the Bethesda location (as well as everywhere else that she saw in their system), it does not say that in OUR system. I asked if I would be seen today, and she said Probably not; our schedule is completely full. (YES... INCLUDING MY APPOINTMENT!!!) She said she was going to call the Rockville location to see if they could see me. I sat down again and began filling out my paperwork. She never picked up the phone. I got up, realizing that I did not trust this place, these people, or this system to handle my gynecological care, and that I did not HAVE TO! I told her never mind, tore up my forms, and retrieved my ID and insurance card. This place does not care about patient comfort, let alone, people in general. Save yourself the stress, time taken off from work, high blood pressure, and headaches that you will surely suffer from because of Capital Womens Care, and its agents. I am still receiving text messages, saying that I missed my appointment at the BETHESDA CWC location, and to contact them to schedule.

You could tell how irritated she was when I asked questions. It made me feel very uncomfortable and emotionally unsafe. This practice has gone awry for sure. It used to be great and had very very good doctors who have all since retired. The front office staff is horrible - how in the world can you have this environment for women who are hyper sensitive, hormonal, scared, possibly overwhlemed- its a cruel place. They act as though you are bothering them as they point to a new kiosk for check in . The kiosk is awful as well. Most decent medical practices will hand you a tablet for digital check in- here you must stand for 10-15 minutes to check in at a low cost, unattractive kiosk I overheard women making frustrating noises as I did at that kiosk. Its a cheap way and if you are pregnant you dont want to stand and do this!to go and the front desk act as if you neednt bother them at all-no smiles. WORST PART- big bright LED stadium lighting in waiting area- whatever happened to low lamp lighting and soft low music- they now have loud rock or pop music blasting in waiting area and the entire clinic- truly awful - cant imagine who came up with this- truly agitating and increasing already anxious feelings. Like you are in Target! Outrageous and disrespectful and insensitive of ladies pregnant or nervous- whoever came up with this should be fired. When I asked the doctor was told we want to make sure no one can hear anyone in next room????Hello??? Ever heard of a white noise machine about the size of your palm????-also in 20 years here I have never ever heard anyone next door while in a a room. SO sad....... this is owned by a group of doctors who are interested in heavy turnout...... avoid this place and I am sad because been going here for years and its now over....one bright light here Kim Severn but not a doctor- she is very kindAVOID and hey cap womens care Bethesda- we DO read google reviews so get it together!!!!

I couldn’t be more disappointed with Capitol Womens Care Bethesda. I didn’t even have a chance to be seen by a doctor. When I first called to schedule an appointment as a new patient, the wait time to get through to someone was almost 20 minutes long. I couldn’t get an appointment for weeks and no doctor was available-I had to schedule my 10 week 5 day sonogram with a nurse practitioner. In the weeks leading up to my appointment I received several texts and emails confirming my appointment, and telling me to not be late. At 2:30pm the day before my scheduled appointment, I got an automated text message saying my appointment was canceled due to an emergency flood and someone would reach out shortly to reschedule. I received a call 3.5 hours later with an automated message saying my appointment was canceled and to call the office to reschedule. I called immediately and there was no one to take my call-just an automated message. This is simply unacceptable and so unprofessional. As a high risk pregnancy patient, and someone who went through 2+ years of IVF; this is the last thing I need in my life. I will not be rescheduling, I have already found a different practice who was way more accommodating and helpful. I will certainly not recommend your practice to anyone. You need to do better

Ive been a patient of CWC Bethesda for 10+ years. I cant recommend Dr. Cleberg or this practice highly enough. My longtime OBGYN retired in 2018 and I hadnt found someone else in the practice to see regularly.... then last year I got pregnant. My first appointment was randomly with Dr. Cleberg, and she told me how that on the day I delivered I could end up with any doctor from CWC call (who would be very well rested!) but it might not be her. I didnt think much of it, given that we had just met.Fast forward 8 months and the thought of Dr. Cleberg NOT being at my delivery was unimaginable. I even told her at one appointment if she ended up being on call and walked into my room, Id probably burst into tears. Over the course of my pregnancy, we developed a rapport I rarely have with medical professionals. Dr. Clebergs empathy, ability to relate (she has a young daughter), and advice exceeded my expectations. Due to COVID, my husband couldnt attend appointments for the second half of my pregnancy. Dr. Cleberg always made sure he was on the phone and part of the experience. She is kind, thoughtful, understanding and incredibly smart. This is a small practice but the doctors go above and beyond. The day I went into labor Dr. Cleberg came in, although she wasnt on call, to deliver my daughter. I am forever grateful for her care and support. From my first appointment to my daughters birth, she gave me the best experience I could have hoped for. Its something Ill never forget. The biggest thank you to CWC Bethesda and Dr. Cleberg -- for everything.

If you want to feel pressured and disrespected during your pregnancy - this is the place for you. Womens healthcare in this day and age should focus on empowerment and informed consent, unfortunately that is not the experience at this Capital “Womens Care”. Went in for an appointment and after getting my vitals the nurse or assistant (not sure what her position is) without as much as asking me any questions or inquiring if I’d like the procedure done, hands me the paper cover and tells me to get undressed. I obviously ask “for what?” and she says it’s for the exam - the exam no one bothered to even ask me if I wanted and one that has risks for the baby that they don’t care to walk you through. Not to mention that at a previous appt I had clearly stated I would not be doing these exams and was told that’s fine and it can wait till Labor starts. When I politely say I’m not interested in that she says something under her breath and goes to storm out looking visibly annoyed, so I just say “ok?” She hears me on her way out and says in an aggravated tone that the doctor will be in shortly. When the doctor walks in, she doesn’t address the situation at all and when I bring it up and relay what had happened she doesn’t offer any apology or admit the importance of informed consent, she just basically says that they advise everyone to get this exam. This response was beyond dismissive - what does that have to do with the disrespectful assistant, not informing your patients of the risks of procedures, or respecting your clients wishes as it pertains to their body and healthcare? Just a gross experience that left me very upset and uncomfortable. No mother-to-be should feel pressured or belittled at a doctors office, and everyone deserves to make their own informed healthcare choices.UPDATE:1) Tried contacting “Matt”, like the response to this review suggested, multiple times, no response - no accountability. Seems like they are just commenting for show so potential clients think they are responsive.2) I would highly suggest that if you have any issues you immediately seek a second opinion elsewhere if you do go with this practice.UPDATE 2:1) Since they replied implying that we were calling at some odd hours and that’s why “Matt” never responded here is a clarification:We called during regular business hours multiple times and “Matt” is never at the location, we were then assured by the front desk that the front desk will pass along the message and this “Matt” will contact us - and it never happens. Responding to a review in the hopes of appearing helpful and responsive only works if you follow through which they never do.2) Since the original review I have regretted sticking with this practice a million times as the horrifying quality of service continued and included some serious medical issues. Always listen to your instincts!Finding good doctors is hard, hope this helps your search!

I was expecting something along the lines of Our protocol is we require you to wear a mask, we are cleaning our waiting area every 30 minutes to assure that we are keeping our patients safe as well as screening by requiring temperature checks before you enter our suite and our waiting area is not crowded with people to keep everyone healthy and safe. not most patients already know. She takes the time to know you and chats for a few minutes before examining you, which creates an atmosphere of trust and comfort. Well, at least as comfortable as you can be with someones hand inside of you, ha ha! Also, and definitely not least, the office is well run and administratively responsive to patient needs, which makes a huge difference. She is very relatable with great bedside manner, which was very important to me particularly being a first time mom. She showed genuine care and concern throughout pregnancy and the recovery period.

The receptionist Jennifer was awfully rude to me when I tried to contact the nurse and hung up on me. I tried to call back to talk to the office manager and she would not direct me. I had to wait until the office closed and leave a message. Then she the rude receptionist called me and told me that she had listened to the message that I had left and she would make sure that I would be dropped off the practice. She said that one of the other receptionist will back her up. I was so shocked for the unprofessionalism and rudeness of this person. I never got to talk to my doctor not the nurse. Left the practice. Awful.

Love Dr. Severn but i have never seen such an incompetent staff in any doctors office. Both times Ive been there, my nurse/PA abandoned me in the middle of my appointment so I had to go to the nurses desk. This time, they lost my appointment entirely. Time to find another doctor.

You have lazy front desk employees that doesnt want to take the initiative to check if your office accept my insurance. If I dont know exactly what plan I am in under my insurance then you should have the capability to find out. I say this because other medical office took the step to find out. This is how this medical office will loose prospective clients/patients. I am so glad I recieved this service because it tells me how the entire office and the clinic is. Presentation and initial service says a lot of the company.
