Dr. Alexander is the best of the best! She is professional all around with a great medical office that is clean and comfortable. Her bedside manner is unmatched. She is so warm and her gentle demeanor instantly puts you at ease when you are with her, knowing you are in good hands. Because of her, I am doing better. I have and will continue to recommend her. Dr. Margaret Alexander is one of the BEST Physicians in the DMV! Her knowledge, skills, expertise, compassion, listening skills, follow-up, etc. are unmatched. She has been my Physician for the past 15 years. I have had surgeries and procedures with her and everything went perfect before, during and after surgery. If you’re looking for a doctor, look no further, you’ve found the right one.

Dr. Alexander is a skilled, thoughtful, thorough doctor. She guides me through my breast cancer diagnosis and provided care before, during, and after. It was a disappointment when my job changed insurance and I could no longer go to her. Strongly recommended!

Dr. Margaret N. Alexander, the founder of Oncology for Women, is an amazingly phenomenal Gynecological Oncologist. When I came to her my diagnosis was not very good. I was a very sick individual. She didnt hesitate to begin the most excellent care I have ever experienced. I knew I was in the best hands and had such great peace as she spent time reassuring me and walking with me through one of the toughest times in my personal life. Now, I am a vision of health - a walking, living, breathing testimony. THANK YOU, JESUS!!! Her care of me was second to none and I AM FOREVER GRATEFUL!!! She is genuinely passionate about what she does and truly has a heart for the patients she serves. Like her, her office staff are both pleasant and professional. The atmosphere in the office is warm and inviting. Clearly, her patients hold her in the highest regard, as there are myriads of thank you cards and expressions of gratitude sprinkled throughout.Dr. Margaret Alexander is an exceptional doctor; because she is an exceptional human being....!

Its telling that most reviews are either five stars or one. Hmm. Dr. Alexander appears very competent, but her office is not run well or organized. It took 3 phone calls to schedule my first appointment - that should have been a sign. After a 3 day hospital stay following a surgery she performed, my hospital release paperwork told me to see her within one week of the surgery. I called the office and was told repeatedly that there were no appointments for 5 weeks. Only after I mentioned the AMA guidelines that require surgery follow-up, was I squeezed in. I went back 3 weeks later (less than 30 days from my surgery date) and Dr. Alexander refused to see me until what she thought was the balance of the bill (over $7K) was paid in full. I contacted my insurance company and was assured, as she is a participating provider, I only owed my deductible, which I paid. I have not been back. Provider Representatives from my insurance company have called her office multiple times and have been unable to speak with her directly. I was told they sent a letter advising her that my responsibility has been met, but - other than cashing my deductible check - I have heard nothing from her or her office. Life is too short for this unnecessary stress. Good luck.

Dr.Alexander is an excellent listener, compassionate and professional. She is meticulous and follows through with every item. Her peers in the area also respect and give her the highest compliments. I would refer anyone to her practice.

Excellent doctor! Shes very patient and thorough! I didnt have a long wait time and didnt feel as if she was rushing me like a lot of physicians do. I will definitely continuing receiving care from her and refer her to others. Thank you Dr. Alexander!

I cannot believe that this place gets 4.5 stars. If I could give it 0 stars I would. I have been to a lot of doctors in my life, having had numerous health issues, and this is up there with one of the worst experiences Ive ever had. To start with, I was made to wait almost 2 hours from my appointment time to actually see the doctor, with no concern or a sorry for the wait from the staff. When I was finally called into the appointment, the nurse didnt even take the time to read my chart and called me in by the wrong name!Dr Alexander has probably the worst bedside manner I have ever encountered. She has a very cold demeanor, and does not take into account anything that the patient has to say. I tried to discuss my options for birth control with her. I have very limited options, since many do not work for me or cause side effects. I wanted to get an honest opinion on one, if it was good for me. I was told it was probably not an option, which I accepted. I would have happily moved on from that, except she started recommending all these specialists to get other opinions. I have been down the rabbit hole many times of seeing different doctors, which can get complicated very quickly. For a small issue such as birth control, seeing that many doctors is not worth the stress for me. But when I told her I didnt want to go that route, she basically said that since I didnt want to take any of her suggestions she did not think she could be my doctor. That is honestly fine by me, since up to that point my experience had already been terrible and I will under no circumstances be going back.Be very careful with this doctor. Apparently, if she decides she doesnt like you, she will not try to be gentle during the physical exam. The exam was way more painful than a normal annual exam. Almost 2 hours after my appointment I am still very sore.

Dr. Alexander cares about the health and wellness of her patients. She is a professional and very knowledgeable regarding health issues. She is a fantastic doctor and I respect her opinions.

I have never written a negative review before, but I am shocked by the lack of respect this practice has demonstrated for patients time. After waiting 90 minutes to be seen by Dr. Alexander, I informed the receptionist and aid that I was becoming concerned about time and needed to leave within the next 20 minutes. I was told that they would inform the doctor that I was in a hurry, and I was led into the small room to change into a robe shortly after. I then sat waiting for the doctor for another 10-15 minutes. When there was no sign of her, I realized that I no longer had time for the actual visit, got dressed, and went out to let the receptionist know I had to leave. I found the doctor standing in the office talking to the receptionist and aid - she did not appear to have been in any hurry to see me.I only wish I had checked the reviews before making my appointment, because from what I can tell from looking at other reviews this was a pretty standard experience at this practice.

Seeing Dr. Alexander has been one of the worst experiences with an OBGYN that I have had. Her staff is completely unreliable and she herself was terse and somewhat rude to me, explaining very little and making me feel unwelcome. I have received multiple bills that have already been paid months after my visit even though at the time of the visit I was told everything was covered by insurance I have now been billed over $300 out of pocket. The billing agency they use is a scam, I called every day for a week to resolve these issues, never getting anyone on the phone and never getting called back. I am now receiving a bill in the mail for a sum that I paid over a month ago. I would caution anyone from going to see this doctor. I am never returning, it has been one of the most expensive, time consuming, and unpleasant experiences I have ever had with a health professional.

I always feel welcome here at the doctors office. The staff is very professional. Doctor Alexander makes me feel like a family member, she has been taking good care of me.

I have visited with this doctor at least five times and had to wait one hour beyond my scheduled time and once two hours. On my January 17th, 2014 visit was to consent and confirm my surgery date for February 18th, 2014. After waiting 45 minutes beyond my 11:30 am appointment, I realized that I forgot my wallet and couldnt pay my $15.00 co-payment. I asked a staff person, which appeared to be her unprofessional mother, if I could call in my credit card number when I reach back home which is 45 minutes away or mail a check payment back, and she asked if I could go home, get my money and come back, which was a slap in the face.Furthermore, I was told that Dr. Alexander said she would not be able to see me due to me not having my co-payment. At this point, I couldnt believe that this doctor would jeopardize the potential of earning more money to performing my partial hysterectomy surgery next month. In my opinion, Dr. Alexander is money hungry, truly broke and is allowing her judgement to jeopardize her business. Dr. Alexander had me scheduled for two procedures that I did not agree to or authorized her to do which is very scary. The hospital surgical nurse called me to do my pre-op work and ask health related questions etc. and I declined. When a doctor potentially schedule a more invasive surgery and attempt to get an insurance approval is clearly insurance fraud. On January 17, 2014 while in her office, I asked Dr. Alexander prior to leaving her office, why did she schedule me improperly for those two procedures and she stated that she wanted to reserve me a surgery spot and the procedure could be modified. I have never had a doctor to inappropriately schedule a surgery without the correct procedure. I also expressed how I felt regarding how I was treated by her staff and that I was considering looking for another doctor and her response was if I wanted to find another doctor, then go ahead.At this point, I had decided that this doctor isnt as competent as her website and experience states or compassionate. Additionally, she did an in office uterus biopsy on a prior visit and neglected to give me the results. I had to call and leave message to please get back to me with my results. I truly regret ever allowing this doctor to evaluate my current condition. I do not recommend anybody to go to this doctor, especially cancer patients.

In 2018 I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Dr. Alexander was my oncology surgeon and today, four years later, I remain healthy and cancer free. Dr Alexander was professional, kind, considerate and caring throughout.

One of the worse experiences I have had. I had an appointment at 2:30 pm, however finally I could see the doctor at 4 pm when she finished chatting with one of her patients about playing tennis and skincare products and so on in the hallway after the patients visit was over. Then, she came in and told me since I am leaving this area soon (she had read it in my file) , I would better visit a specialist and possibly start a treatment where I go. That she could have told her secretery to tell me before I waste this much time and energy and 20$ of copay.

Dr Alexander is very soft spoken, very patient and very explicit in answering my questions. I am so glad to have had her as my Doc. I can proudly say she is a life saver and I love her very very much.

I was a patient of Dr. Alexander for several years. She never diagnosed me with cancer but did a Leep procedure which is cutting out “pre-cancer” high grade cells. Then she never saw me for a follow-up. Every time (numerous times) a day before my scheduled follow up someone from her ofc. would call and tell me I needed to reschedule because she has emergency surgery. Now 5 years later, the pre-cancer is back. I can’t get my medical records from her office. Lastly prior to the surgery I asked her to just do a Hysterectomy so I don’t have to go through the problems she said that was not necessary. I’m really saddened and hurt by the what she did to me, because I trusted her. May The Most High have mercy on her Amen.

Oncology for Women, headed by Dr. Margaret N. Alexander, is the practice Ive chosen to utilize for my primary health care needs for the last 5 years. When you have found an accomplished, proficient and skillful Physician, theres no need to go anywhere else.
