This place is wonderful! I was so scared and nervous before coming here but they exceeded my expectations and made my experience a breeze. The nurses are all so nice and helpful and I was talked through the whole process by my bedside. First visit took 1 hour and 15 minutes and second visit was 1 hour and 30 minutes even with me showing up late. They are quick and efficient! This was the hardest decision I’ve ever made in life but the staff here made it easy for me. They are pricey but they do offer assistance. Thank you for the wonderful service!!

The staff were very friendly and informative. They made me feel 110% safe and welcomed and comfortable. They truly do care for their patients and their health and wellness. Would STRONGLY recommend if you are thinking for having an abortion. The process can be tough and emotional, but the staff and doctors and team make everything super welcome and they do not judge. On the form they even ask for your preferred pronouns! They make sure you are comfortable through the whole process.wish I could give it more than 5 stars!!!

I compared other reviews to other clinics and give it a chance. I couldnt be more pleased with how gentle friendly and professional staff was and how quickly everything transpired and how clean the facility was. As it turned out whenever everything was said and done in my unavoidable grief, I discovered that some family and friends of mine have use the same clinic and were glad to hear that I had such a traumatic experience in such a reputable place. The only thing I hated is the audacious protesters which I was able to hear in the procedure room thank goodness for the anti-anxiety medication but I was still left mentally and emotionally vulnerable. once the protesters volumes could be heard from inside the nurses called the police and hopes to have them escorted away from their property but as it was explained to me is they were not on the technical property but yelling loud enough to be heard from the inside. I suggest bringing earplugs with you if youre going to use this clinic because you can close your eyes but you cant close your ears otherwise. But if I had to get another one I would go back for sure

The best place to go!Amazing staff everyone here is so warm & nice they don’t pressure you with any intense questions they have calming music. The protesters are just on the corner but it’s very easy to ignore them. The whole process is lengthy but worth it when it comes to how much they care & help you. They do have funding but make sure you call and ask about all that like a week or two before you plan on an appointment.

I cant say enough good things about this clinic. Im 19 and unable to have a child so I came here feeling scared, guilty, and alone. The staff is incredible. My nurse, Rachel, and my counselor, Amanda, were amazing. I was crying and felt at my absolute lowest, but they held my hand throughout everything and comforted me like I was a family member. They were sweet and provided me with the encouragement and strength to go forward in my procedure. Doctor Abel is an absolute gem. He calmed my nerves and promised me every thing would turn out alright. I am so grateful for this clinic and the services they provide. I opted for the surgical abortion. If you have any questions, you can email me and I can share my experience to help out.

I can’t say how much I appreciate all of the staff. Everybody was incredibly sweet and welcoming. My counselor during the procedure joked and talked with me which really helped take my mind off of it. My nurse held my hand the whole time. I didn’t have any pain, just discomfort, during my procedure. Both of my counselors talked to me about birth control options and provided me with information on places to get it. I’m extremely grateful for all the staff that made this experience so much less stressful for me.

I’d give this place 100 stars if I could. Everyone is so nice and reassuring. Abortion is not an easy decision to make and these women offer constant guidance and reassurance. My nurse Faith was one of the nicest most understanding people I’ve ever met. The procedure while uncomfortable was quick and they work hard to manage your pain and make sure you’re okay before discharge. If you’re considering abortion I HIGHLY recommend this place.

I can not express how amazing this clinic staff was. The staff, nurses, counselors, and doctor were all so nice, non-judgmental, informative, and overall just very calming. The price is a bit expensive, $800 in total(done less than 10 weeks LMP) for either the surgical or medical procedure. The initial visit you fill out and sign all your paperwork and get a sonogram where they’ll go over the risks of both procedures and decide which method you want. You’ll then schedule your second appointment and be asked to wait to see a counselor which for me was the longest part, I was done with all the other stuff in less than an hour but had to wait about two more hours to see the counselor. With the counselor you’ll go a little more in depth about your procedure and how you’re feeling. I really felt like they cared about their patients and weren’t just trying to make money, they are very reassuring and brought me a lot of peace during a very stressful time. I had anticipated the second appointment to take a long time but I was very surprised with how quickly I was in and out. I never once felt like they rushed anything though, I still felt very safe and calm during all of it, they are just very efficient. For your second appointment you have to have a driver if you’re doing the surgical procedure, you’ll fill out their information and then pay. Then you get taken into the back where they do your IV and give you some medication. From there you go into the prep/recovery area. Here you get prepared for your procedure and given more medicine and the anesthesia (if you want that). Then you get wheeled into the procedure room and talk to a counselor and a nurse for a little bit while they check your vitals, and then you have the actual procedure which was all over in less than 5 minutes. When you’re done you go into the recovery area where you just rest for a little bit while they make sure everything went good and you’re not bleeding too much or cramping too bad and they’ll call your driver to make sure they’re outside or on the way. They also do help with birth control methods so they’ll talk to you about that.I didn’t get a chance to thank the counselor that was in there with me, so Rach if you read this thank you so much for the peace you brought me. Also I’m sorry for misgendering you, I shouldn’t have assumed your pronouns. Robin and Dr. Gilbert thank you too for being so sweet. Really the whole staff here is so great.

Get Dr. Able if you can...hes an absolute saint and will make you feel comfortable. Plus, its cheaper than PP and I was able to get in with them a week before PP could even see me for a sonogram. I called planned parenthood first, the lady who answered was very short with me when I asked prices and said thank you for calling and hung up right away. When I called here, I spoke to Melinda and she was so nice to me and answered all my questions and more. She was caring and apologized for the last lady making me feel the way she did. It was exactly what I needed to hear. I only called as a back up plan and I needed some answers, she was more than helpful. I am happy there are still good places like this one, most places dont care about you at all. Or they judge you right off the back. This place welcomes you with open arms.

Ive been here twice and each time went so smoothly. The staff do an amazing job of making you comfortable throughout the whole process 🙂 both times I was surprised at how fast and painless the procedure/aftercare were. The whole process up til then does take some time, so expect to be in the clinic for 3ish hours the first day (when you do paperwork, urine test, 2 ultrasounds- one abdominal & one vaginal- and counseling) and 3 hours the second day when theyll do another ultrasound to ensure youre still eligible for the procedure with Texas new law, and prep you for the procedure by setting up your catheter, then you may have to wait in line for the procedure (I had 4 women in line ahead of me so that wait took 30ish minutes). Once its your turn you get a little room to undress and put a hospital gown & hair net on and sit in a wheelchair. They give you a warm blanket if youre cold and wheel you into the procedure room. I was hunger-cramping really bad because you cant eat/drink for hours before the surgery, so they gave me a heating pad which I appreciated. Once you lay down they give you a painkiller (fentanol), an anti anxiety medicine, and an anti nausea medicine (because usually in early pregnancy youre nauseous). Then the Dr comes in and uses a suction tool to do the procedure. It feels like uncomfortable period cramps for 5 minutes, and the nurse held my hand and rubbed my shoulder while comforting me throughout those 5 minutes. Then the nurses help you put on your underwear (with a pad already on it), and wheel you to the recovery area where you sit and have a snack while they monitor you. (Id say time in the recovery chair is about 30 minutes. I only had some light spotting and cramping afterwards, but its normal if you do bleed a bit. I called the clinic several times to ask questions and they give you a bunch of information about the whole process, so they make it really easy to be informed about any questions you may have. It was also really fast to set up an appointment- I called on Tuesday. Had my first appt on Thursday, and the procedure on Friday. My husband asked if I wanted to find another clinic that could see me even sooner (compared to a day wait) and I said no because I trust and love this clinic so much

It was a very disturbing and unpleasant experience how ever the staff was okay. The workers that do the job are really nice. One heald my hand and rubbed my shoulder.. It was very quick. . the wait was like 2 hours. 2 hours of watching sad girls sit around waiting.. Then watching one by one walk through the door normally, to get their procedure done... Every single girl that walked back out was like a sad... Zombie.. With the exact same kind of walk over to the doors to leave. I too was the zombie..leaving. Doctors were good though! :)

The staff was wonderful, and so helpful, but I did experience a bit of a problem with scheduling my second appointment because when I went to my first one and when we were finishing up they told me I would come back in the next day then I show up to my appointment and I was told it was the day after, after driving about an hour and 30 minutes to get there. On the other hand the next day when I came in for the procedure it was an all day thing and I think that helped with the pain because I felt little to none when they did it. It was a bit costly but definitely worth it I feel.

I had an amazing experience with the clinic (after trying 2 others) and with the medicated abortion process and would love to share with anyone and everyone considering going here vs somewhere else and with anyone considering having a medicated abortion instead of a surgical abortion.First I’ll touch on the clinic. Staff is friendly, informative and welcoming. Went to another clinic first that was a disaster and while in the parking lot waiting for my ultrasound I went ahead and called Southwest Women’s center and boy am I glad I did! They are much more organized. The office is much larger and warm and inviting. It is all around much more professional accompanied with friendly staff that made the experience so much better. Now onto the medicated abortion.I read too many horror stories online and was full of fear thinking I may regret my decision to go this route. But the logical side of my brain took over and said I’ve had a child and went through active labor, it can’t be worse than that right? I’ve also experienced a miscarriage before so I expected it to be similar pain wise and bleeding wise. I was wrong. IT WAS SO MUCH BETTER!!!! Seriously. I let my anxiety get the best of me expecting the worst but it was such an easy process and so quick for me.I took the first pill that stops the hormones so the fetus stops growing. I experienced zero symptoms from this although they say you can experience many. I felt nothing. No pain. No nausea. No bleeding. Nothing. I even left there to run errands and was fine. The next day I started the medication to actually expel the fetus. I was full of so much fear. I was almost 10 weeks so they gave me 2 doses to take. The first you take 24-48 hours after the first pill to stop the hormones. The 2nd dose you take 4 hours after. Take my first dose and hang out expecting the worse. A couple hours of nothing really and then the cramps start. They’re similar to early early labor contractions. (Think 1-3 cm dilation) I had a heating pad and took the pain meds. Nothing bad. A couple hours of light cramping and then they got more severe. Similarly to labor contractions, they come and go. It isn’t constant pain. I had a heating pad and it helped a lot. I wish I had 2 so I could use one on my back and one on my tummy but I made due. The heavy cramps lasted about an hour. They started a little before my 2nd dose was supposed to be taken and stopped 15-30 minutes after I took my 2nd dose. 1 hour max total. I went to the restroom and passed a single clot about the size of a small plum. Went back to the living room with my heating pad waiting for the contractions to come back and they never did. Kept going to the restroom expecting to pass more clots and I never did. I freaked out thinking this is way too easy, it couldn’t have worked. I called the 24 hour nursing line at about 1 in the morning and spoke to a nurse that informed me some women just have an easy experience and that doesn’t mean it didn’t work. Just left my follow up appointment and sure enough, it worked! I cannot believe how easily the process was and how much I freaked myself out before doing it. The pain was much less than labor & much less than my miscarriage and overall a better experience than the surgical abortion I received while younger, although that experience wasn’t bad per se, I just much preferred to be at home with my boyfriends love and support by my side instead of him waiting outside a clinic for me.10/10 would recommend this clinic to anyone and everyone. And 10/10 would recommend the medicated abortion process for anyone that is leaning in that direction. Both have their pros and cons but do not be scared of the process as it was not bad at all for me. I was far enough along that I almost couldn’t do it and it did not make my experience harder and overall I would do it again easy.

This is a hard review to write but the staff made this experience a very safe, and calming one for me. Since I stay over the 100 mile radius I was able to do my consultation over the phone, and get all my questions answered. The day of my actual procedure I was terrified, but thankfully my boyfriend was right by side during this tough decision. Everyone from the ladies at the front desk to the sonographer, counselor, nurses, and my doctor were very sweet and patient with me. They talked me through every step of the way till I walked out the door. There was protestors outside the morning of my procedure, but they didn’t harass us or anything thankfully. Start to finish my entire appt lasted about 3 and a half hrs even though I did show up a little late, because of weather conditions. The actual procedure maybe lasted 5 mins in total I felt lots of pressure, but that was about it, my nurse, and counselor talked to me the entire time so that calmed me. As far as cramping or bleeding it’s only been a day, but everything has been mild to non existent so far which they did tell me was a possibility thankfully. Also, I was worried that I’d feel like a complete zombie after, but I was fine! I was drowsy maybe 10-15 mins after and did get a lil nauseous but it went away too. I say all this to say this is a safe space, and I would highly recommend for anyone that has to make that tough decision, you’ll be taken care of every step of the way.

While I have not had my surgery yet I can tell you that this center has exceeded my expectations in every way. The surgeries and consultations are thorough. I was dreading waiting for a counselor, thinking, why would I need a counselor if I already know what I want to do? But I was wrong. Katey was my counselor. She didnt push hard to change my opinion and just answers any possible question you could throw at her- before seeing her I thought that I didnt have any questions; obviously I was wrong. Dr. Abel was as great as every reviewer says! I have spent an extensive amount of time in hospitals and volunteering at clinics and he has the best bedside manor I have EVER seen- strange in a place where he can afford to not be the sweetest. He is informative and tells you everything that the state of Texas requires. Because he is an experienced OB GYN he was able to give a lot of great insight into birth options, which I asked about out of general curiosity. As I was discussing with him I realized something- he was discussing back. He was short staffed but never rushed me out of that room- even my general physician never has more than 10 minutes to see me before collecting my co-pay! And here I was with a SURGEON who took time to inform me of every miscellaneous medical detail that I had wanted to know. I realized that this is why the wait time was sooooo long. Youre not waiting on a doctor or nurse or counselor, youre waiting on the other women. Waiting on them to become informed, have their questions and concerns addressed, waiting on them to make a decision.

So I went on 01-03-18 and had my procedure done. Highly recommend Doctor Shannon Carr. Iv done my research on the internet reading horror storys on the procedure but for those of you who are scared as I was Ill put it to you this way. Im hypochondriac lol so I wanted absolutely no pain meds she still did numb my uterus. I could still feel pressure from the instruments but still no pain. I was aware of everything going on. I asked a million questions that they were happy to answer. Doctor Carr told me the procedure would only take 5 mins. I was shocked that it did. She kept her word. I was so scared but she assured me I would be fine who ever said it takes forever was just mad they say be ready to sit 3 to 4 hours I was only there 2 hours tops. As for my after care when I went to recovery there was very very very little bleeding that hardly exist. As for my 3rd day in there is still light bleeding no odor nor sign of infection. The cramps the first few days was really bad Im in pain now it hurts but its not to bad. I was shocked because I didnt cramp none in recovery. But that night was really bad. And thats only because I dont take pain meds. I hate the feeling. The cramps for me only come at night. I would suggest to anyone out there whos scared dont be. I feel like you should be scared if you go home with the pills smh 3 or four days of pain and the procedure is only 5 mins of pressure. Good luck to you all and remember no matter what you decide God will always and I mean always love you!!!!!!! Oh ps one thing I didnt like about one of the nurses is that after I refused pain meds after she insisted 3 times is when she said ok thats fine its your life. I was like what do you mean. Is that anything you would wanna say to someone whos already scared and about to get a procedure shes never had. I wish I knew her name would have mention that the day of. But anyways still great place. I wish I could give Ms. Carr 20 stars hands down. Update 02/07/2018 So I see a lot of you guys have viewed my post. I had a surgical procedure at this center over the summer. The staff was professional and kind.I would recommend the surgical procedure over the medication because it is over more quickly and there is overall less pain associated with it. I have not personally experienced the medical (pill) abortion, but I have experienced a number of natural miscarriages (very similar to the medical/pill abortion-just without the actual pills) that were far more painful and prolonged. If you are unsure about what to say when you call, I would suggest simply requesting an appointment and they will prompt you with questions for everything they need to know. It can be very discrete if you are uncomfortable with saying certain things. When I called I simply said I need to make an appointment and (like I said before) they prompted me with questions for the rest of the information they needed. There will be at least two appointments. During the first visit they will evaluate you and perform an ultrasound, the doctor will explain the risks associated and you will have a chance to ask any questions. You will also see a counselor who can help you with your decision to either have the procedure or to not have it, and they will explain the cost.More so for the first visit, there can be quite a long wait even when you have an appointment time so be prepared to still be waiting hours after your appointment was scheduled for. There are harassers who loiter around the building and, while I do not believe their intention is to physically harm you, it can be very disconcerting. I have seen some of these delinquents stalk any woman who happens to be walking near the area, whether they are going to the center or not, in order to push their agenda. A very misogynist crew. There will likely be a lot of other women at the clinic with you. Women arent usually open about their experience because of the fear of negative feedback, but you are absolutely not alone. You may regret it or you may not, there is no correct way to feel.I have 2 young children and while I would have liked a 3rd child, my mental health was declining (partially due to hormones combined with recent trauma) and I was becoming a very mean mother to the two that presently needed my love and care. Continuing on with the pregnancy would have been detrimental to all of us. Now I am going to nursing school, which I would not have personally been able to do I were pregnant or caring for an infant.I do not regret my decision, but I do feel a bit sad that it needed to be made in the first place. I felt relief after the procedure was over - now I could go back to being a loving mother to my children. I never cried or felt depressed. Of course, I hope this not a choice I will ever need to make again, it is obviously not an ideal situation to be in.Like I said, I would have liked a 3rd child and I was a little sad about not getting to have one, but I was never upset about the choice I made.Every decision will not be black and white. Life is not black and white. Abortion is not equivalent to murdering babies. I, like numerous other women, have had multiple miscarriages in the past. I was saddened by my miscarriages but I never equated them to losing a living, breathing, conscious child that I have physically loved, held, and bonded with and I will not equate that to abortion (especially early abortion) either.Hard decisions that have both positive and negative sides are part of life. Do what you need to do for yourself and your family. Do not fear that you will be defined by this situation. I promise that everyone has gone through something similar even if they dont admit it or if they made a different decision in the end.

The staff was amazing. Aftercare was difficult but that wasn’t their fault. They give you instructions on what to do Incase you’re hurting. Don’t listen to these reviews, do what you want to your body. Your life is yours not theirs, ignore the pro-life people outside the clinic. They say they care about the child but you don’t see them trying to offer great suggestions. I regret my decision but at the same time, it was the best thing I did. Only thing I didn’t like about the clinic was when I tried backing out they told me it was too late and I had to have the abortion. Which is a lie, if you have second thoughts on an abortion, you still have a shot at having the child up to 72 hours on taking the first pill. I of course was still in the time frame of backing out but the nurse who was on the phone told me a lie. Although I have hate for this person who lied, I think I still made a good decision in having an abortion and I appreciate the woman. I was lost in my own mind, the babys father was an addict (he told me he was clean but it turned out he wasn’t, so for those judging and saying it was my fault for sleeping with someone like that, you don’t know our lives). Although I was thinking mostly of just myself, I also thought about the horrible life the child would have had if it was born. Take my advice, do what you want to your body. If you want to keep it, great. If you don’t, great. I was 18 when I had my abortion, and I’m 21 now. I was pro-life and then realized things happen in life and everyone’s body is their own, and now I’m pro-choice. If you are religious and are debating on what to do, do what you want to your body. The Jesus/God you believe in loves all his children, don’t let these idiotic pro-life people get to your head. They won’t be in your life, don’t listen to strangers who don’t know what you’re going through in life. Listen to you and only you. I support you and hope you have a wonderful life regardless of what decision you make.

If you come to this clinic, be prepared to wait for hours and have receptionists who will not address your concerns. My girlfriend and I waited 3-4 hours during the initial visit for a 15 min consult with the dr and counselor. The counselor told us the follow-up surgery (abortion) would take us 2 hours from the time of our appointment. We arrived at 3pm and we did not get out till after 8 pm (that is a whole 5 hours). The gf and I asked multiple times during the wait why it was taking so long and repeatedly got deflecting answers such as I know it is hard as if we were being overly emotional about the whole situation. Insulting to say the least, esp when I recently got an MD and am well aware of how patients should be treated. We simply wanted to know so we could plan our day. Apparently that day, they decided to overbook on pts and pushed us to the end because my gf was not that advanced in her pregnancy. Basically because me and her decided earlier on this was an option for us, we got penalized and had to wait an extended time with no prior notice from the staff and absolutely no good reasons on why such a crazy delay was there. Ps. her surgery was the shortest of the day, took less than 5 minutes...very unprofessional

As a guest today of Southwestern Womens Surgery Center, I was appalled by how they treated the Pro-life individuals outside, none of which harass the patients and/or hold up shameful signs. No, in fact, it was a group of persons who have beaded cross necklaces and brochures that encourage an alternative for the womans baby. As an individual who has been through this darkness and still lives it, I wished so badly that I would have had someone to talk to. It can be a time of shame and loneliness, where you need to simply talk to someone first. The clinic has two ladies with Pro-choice vests standing out front of their doors to make sure the Pro-life individuals do not cross their yellow line at the public sidewalk near a busy road, where people give them the middle finger and throw things at them. The Pro-choice ladies complained of me and only had one goal in mind.. to make a profit for their company at the expense of the unborn childrens lives. Now that is a real shame and real evil. If they truly cared for these women, they would allow the other side of the movement to talk to them, especially since they are warm and endearing about it. They do NOT HARASS at all. That is not the picture I saw today that they like to paint. If you are a person who is Pro-life and want to talk to any of their patients, they will call the cops on you for criminal trespass, although you have NOT even committed a crime other than they want you to leave because your beliefs do not align with their own (by the way-most cops are Pro-life duh).I encourage women who are thinking of an abortion to talk to someone first. A person who will listen and care about their needs.. not the needs of their own to fill their pockets. Talk to these people out front that are Pro-life. They may just have a better, guilt-free and uplifting alternative for you.

While I havent been to this location, Ive gone thru this issue myself. It sickens me to see the proselytizers use this moment to shame people in to doing what may very well be a dangerous decision. This isnt the time to shame anyone for their decision. This should be the time for caring support. I absolutely despise pro-lifers and anyone here that gives these courageous doctors, nurses, and staff anything less than a stellar review. The one star reviews are false reviews, and Ill make it my mission to have these untruthful comments removed. These people dont make money off of the unborn, or you. Do you see them driving Lamborghinis? Rolls? No... Because they make just enough to get by and maybe have a little extra. You pro-lifers make me sick. These Drs and staff are heros for coming to work everyday and helping women in a difficult situation despite being harassed by idiot pro-lifers.

They are awesome. Everyone is nice. Very professional. They have assistance available. Just aheads up there are sometimes those annoying protesters who have nothing else to do with their lives by the street entrance.

Dr. Wallace SAVED MY LIFE. I went in for a regular consultation and during my Sono Screening, she identified my Cesarean Ectopic Pregnancy. She wrote me a letter and immediately sent me to Presbyterian ER. When I got there, I was a nervous wreck. They did a more extensive sono and saw that my C/S scar had begun to ruptured. They told me that had I gone just another week w/ out treatment, I would have ruptured conpletely and hemorrhaged to death. I cried my heart out because I had just a sono the week before by another Dr and she didnt catch it. I had to have a partial hysterectomy immediately! My surgery was initially to be done laparoscopically, a 90 minute procedure, but half way into that procedure, the surgeon noticed that thw placenta had started growing blood vessels into my bladder. So they had to start over. Re-opening my Cesarean scar and the procedure took 6 hours.I cant THANK DR. WALLACE ENOUGH FOR SAVING MY LIFE. Ive been in tears..... Just thinking about what wouldve happened had she not taught that.

This place is pure bs ! They keep pretending that their office is closed for a deep cleaning and Ive been trying to get in contact with them for a whole week. If u are temporarily closed then just say that but dont waist peoples time with the lying voice mail. Thought u guys were better than this .

I feel safe knowing there is a clinic nearby helping women. I see everything clientele have to endure due to protestors and I respect the women who need help and seek it AND the business that works so hard to fight for these womens rights. This place takes care of anyone who needs it.

This place is NOT a pregnancy resource center. I came here with my wife for information on abortion. They misguide you and are actually an abortion clinic. They kept bringing up nothingness and nihilism even though we kept telling them we were religious. This is a criminal enterprise simply because I disagree with the mission. If I could give this place zero stars I WOULDN’T.

I have been a patient at Womens Surgery Center since 1995? Dr. Furr has taken the practice over since that time. He was trained by Dr. Liu on special surgical techniques felated to Endometriosis excision and other gynecological surgical techniques. Dr. Furr is very personable, compassionate and knowledgable about womens pelvic health problems.Neko, the new Nurse Practitioner is also very personable and she is a great addition to the practice. This is one if the best practices to go to if you have Endometriosis, Interstitial Cystitis, pelvic floor problems (PFD), incontinence issues or other gynecological problems. The medical assistant staff and the office staff are also very kind. I have had female problems for 35 years and I have been to a LOT of Gyns. Highly recommend this practice.I do wish Dr. Furr would complete the NOOK application process so he could be listed as a NOOK physician. It really helps the patients with Endometriosis find out about him.
