I go here 2x a week for groups. I love the staff and the atmosphere. They really can and do meet most of your needs. If you ask and make an appointment you can get hygiene, they do std testing, they have snacks for most groups. I told them I just got an apartment and one of the ladies bought me a comforter set, an air mattress, and a pillow set.

I like attending classes here and I win gift cards just for attending and winning a raffle at the end of class they also have hygiene assistance which I loved because they have so much good body washes, tooth paste, shampoo, conditioner, pretty much everything you can think of they have it for free.

Very friendly and compassionate staff, that will and want to help you reach your goals. They also have many different resources that you can utilize, like housing, employment, bus passes, clothing, etc.

This place is nice if you live in a shelter, or already have some type of housing. But if you are truly homeless, living on the streets, there is no help for you. If you are trying to not relapse, have a mental condition, on probation, recovering drug addict, they dont care. They just want you to attend their classes so they can continue to get big grant money to pad their pockets. Like most places in Denver that advertise help its just for money and show. Im giving 2 stars because the people are kind.

DO NOT RENT to anyone on this program!!! Empowerment does not care about how the tenants take care of the property. I begged them to come out and look at the house after it was tagged in the bedrooms. After the tenant moved out I called the director Julie, seven times to no avail. Now am left with thousands of dollars in damages and no where to turn. Hope no one is ever in this situation.

I used to live on 17th Street with my ex I would go to the Empowerment Program to get some help. My case worker was Joycee Kennedy. She was an awesome person who at that time during 2004 was in charge of the women group in the afternoon for women domestic violence abuse. It was a pleasure for her to work on my case to help me to get through my situation with my ex. I love all the women in the group. They were so nice and so caring. Each of their stories were sad, but I know I wasn’t alone and I enjoy to hear what they have to say about their situation. I’m no longer live in Denver, Colorado.I always come back to visit. When I do I will stop by to hug each of these ladies because they had helped my family so much in the past. Thank you! I am doing well.I haven’t give up on my kids. Still fighting against my abuser and my kids? Got a degree in Criminal Law currently working four jobs to support my family. I encourage new members and old members not to give up. There is always a way in your life to get though this darkness. Be smart and be wise. Life is too short to cry.

Empowerment has truly been a blessing for me! They helped me in SO MANY WAYS. They got me off the streets in less than a year, I have my own apartment in cap hill. The landlord is great there building is clean, secured, theres cameras and they dont slack on making sure there tenants needs are taking care of in every possible way. Im very proud to say that empowerment has saved my life there amazing people and I recommend it to any one whos in need of help..

Do not move into Empowerment housing! They do nothing to protect their tenants from drug & violence related traffic on their properties! I was just assaulted trying to keep someone out of our building. There are no lights, cameras or security! Drugs & thugs run rampant in this Empowerment building. Tgey are aware of the situation & do nothing to protect or help us!
