My husband and I feel my/our care was completely mishandled and disregarded. My gut was going off with red flags from the start but continued the process with IRMS against my better judgement. There are a few very nice staff members but it does not make up for the lack of care, compassion, or communication by Dr. Stephanie Marshall Thompson. Excuses were made why we hadn’t heard from or seen Dr. Thompson at all for weeks despite being told several times we would be seen by her at the next appointment, which never happened. Throughout our confirmed pregnancy and then sadly miscarriage, we never saw Dr. Stephanie Thompson or heard from her until we complained and expressed we had a growing number of questions and concerns. When she did call (after I was told she was running an hour+ late for my appointment - it was the final straw), there was no explanation of where she had been or apology and upsettingly she started to comment incorrectly on the stage of pregnancy loss we were currently experiencing, giving us the perception she really had no idea what was happening with our pregnancy and the loss we were in the midst of experiencing. Patients should be able to have access to their doctor, especially during something as emotional and important as fertility and/or the loss of a baby. I understand emotions are high when a miscarriage occurs but the issues started prior to our pregnancy loss and the lack of care and insensitivity experienced from Dr. Stephanie Thompson made an emotional, very personal and painful journey and pregnancy loss unnecessarily more emotionally draining and difficult. Dr. Thompson clearly had her attention and time elsewhere and we suffered due to her lack of concern for my medical care and well being.I wrote this in January of 2023 and didn’t post it earlier because things were still so raw and new. Now that they have decided to try to bill us by threatening us with legal action 1.5 years later for a very small amount of money allegedly owed, it’s opened old wounds. I decided this review was very much needed as they clearly continue to show lack of compassion and poor communication. No issues with paying what we may owe but seriously haven’t heard a peep and a year and a half later plus with threats? It’s been a battle from the start with IRMS and highly recommend you look elsewhere for fertility testing / treatment / options - IRMS didn’t show us respect, concern, and treated us as a cash cow.

The staff was thorough, knowledgeable, confident in their procedures and protocols, and maintained a level of realistic optimism that made this process much easier. Every appointment (and I had many) was on time. I would highly recommend Dr. Thompson and then entire IRMS Hoboken practice!

We trusted IRMS with helping us start our family, after struggling with another REI office for years. We were given hope and compassionate care. As a physician myself, I can truly say I felt taken care of through a very difficult process. Dr. Stephanie Marshall-Thompson was absolutely amazing; taking my calls at all times, and walking me through all the options. Given my medical history, being able to carry my own child was nothing short of a miracle, and Dr. Marshall-Thompson used her evidence-based approach to make our dreams come true while ensuring the safety of me and my baby! I am thankful beyond words to Dr. Marshall-Thompson and the IRMS team. I am entering my last trimester with our first child, and doing well. My husband and I highly recommend IRMS.

Dr. Stephanie Thompson is incredible - so communicative and supportive during what can be a pretty confusing (yet exciting) process. SO glad she was my doc!!!IRMS is also very helpful - when I had some trouble getting locked out of one of their portals (I forgot my login info) Jeannette was ON IT. One email and she helped me iron it out no problem.

I felt that this institution only treats you like a number. My doctor was Dr Stephanie Johnson and it was very impersonal. The technicians give you no information at every scan literally said nothing, I had to ask them every time so how many follicles in each side, and what size are they. After my extraction Dr Johnson only asked if I wanted another round of egg freezing. Plus they charge for every visit its not a one time overall fee like Extend Fertility. I called my nurse to ask about my options for egg storage and no response 2 weeks later. Terrible customer service only automated responses on the phone shame cos the front desk receptionists seem nice even albeit didnt have much authority for anything. Had to call different people for finance, appointments or anything

Dr Thompson and the office dangerously misguided us in anticipation of a sensitive medical procedure. After we confirmed and made arrangements according to their instructions several times, the day before the procedure they retracted what they said and told us we would not be able to proceed as scheduled.Their mistake could have had detrimental consequences, but you wouldn’t know that from their flippant and casual attitude in response to the error. The portal and apps for communicating are of the cheapest caliber and are horrendous for keeping an open line of communication. Nobody has the information available to help, so the conversation ends with them saying they’ll send you a text— in such a sensitive business, texting should be your last resort of contact. In the 11th hour, we were waiting for a text to deliver us crucial time-sensitive information.

DO NOT GO HERE!!! I tried to do egg freezing and the nurses told me conflicting information (booked appointments for different times for me but more importantly had different medical info shared with me on the health information and process and made it extremely confusing). No one was on the same page about my situation. All through this Dr. Thompson was MIA after the first 2 meetings. I reached out in an email saying it was mentally effecting me in a bad way and I felt lost and confused on next steps and was told she would call me that night and she never did. That was 2 days ago and I still have no idea what is going on. I looked at Columbia first but came here because my insurance but I highly recommend anywhere else over this. IRMS staff is unprofessional, not on the same page and do not care about their patients when this is a really big life decision. Ive never felt more alone in the process of something I thought would be amazing. I am reconsidering and pausing and wouldnt want my eggs to be treated like they are treating me so Im likely going somewhere else

This is a long one but I urge you to read it in in full if you plan to use this practice. My experience with Dr. Perlman as a doctor was excellent; but my experience with this office was HORRIBLE and I feel compelled to warn others about the disheartening practices of the nurses and office staff. As people have said in past reviews I can confirm that they do treat you like a number throughout the entire process. There is no attempt to have a human interaction and explain anything about the medication, the ultrasound, the process, the injections, and realize that for you this is something new for you.Half way though my cycle they realized they hadnt ordered me enough medication from the start which had me scrambling to find medication with 8 hours notice - which after weeks of injections and appointments almost caused me to have to end my cycle early because their negligence. At the beginning of this process I was quoted an estimated TOTAL out of pocket cost of $1,300 (I have pretty good insurance) and this was the ONLY reason I decided to continue with the freezing process. They contacted my insurance, and got me the the final numbers in writing, and I even called the office to re-verify the numbers were correct because it seemed quite low. After speaking with them, I trusted their word and scheduled my procedure and paid the $1,300 in full. The day of my procedure I showed up to the surgery center and was shockingly told I had to pay them $800 dollars NOW or I would not be having my procedure. This being a time sensitive procedure I had no choice but to pay. This shocking discrepancy was only the beginning, as doctors office then requested ANOTHER $1,600 without any proper explanation.I immediately called them to discuss because clearly this had to be a mistake. I could never get anyone to call me back so I finally emailed the financial coordinator who called me over the phone and explained that the woman who gave me the initial quote had made a mistake and she had made that same mistake quite often and has since been fired for it - basically sorry, but too bad, cough up the money. Had it been a few hundred dollars I honestly would have probably paid it just to avoid the frustration I have gone through trying to get this resolved. In further efforts to resolve this I then had a virtual appointment with Doctor Thompson (who is my new assigned doctor since Perlman has left) who was apologetic and told me she would escalate the issue and help me out and see if she get me a credit for the amount I owe to be used for freezing or get it absolved. Two months passed with no word from her and when I finally followed up she wrote back that I should Hang in there and to email a coordinator in the finance department for an update (so much for escalating). The finance coordinator then copy and pasted a canned response saying essentially that it doesnt matter that I was mis-quoted from the start. Per my insurance I owe them another $1,600 and to again - cough up the money. At this point seeing how many other bad reviews have come in over the past few months I cannot help but suspect that this office is attempting to deceive patients and manipulate billing to extract more money. Such practices are utterly unacceptable and tantamount to scamming and defrauding unsuspecting individuals seeking medical treatment. In light of these troubling experiences, I urge everyone to be extremely cautious when dealing with this office. Please seek out alternative healthcare providers who prioritize honest and open communication.I have since gotten additional bills totaling over $4,000 - when I had been quoted $1,300. I made one final effort to have them correct this issue or I will have no choice but to have a lawyer get involved and perhaps the medical board. Please be wary.

I highly recommend IRMS - namely Dr. Thompson! I sought out IVF treatment at IRMS after being treated at another well-known clinic in NYC. I experienced many inefficiencies at that clinic and very much felt like a number vs. a patient. IRMS came highly recommended through a friend who had much success with Dr. Thompson.I was paired with Dr. Thompson at the IRMS Hoboken location and immediately felt comfortable with her. She was professional, incredibly knowledgeable, and very kind. She handled my case with thoroughness and care; walking me through every step of the way.Throughout my time at IRMS I met several of the doctors, and even had procedures with some of them. I cannot speak highly enough about each of them. And this extended to the wonderful nurses - namely Kim and Paulina, who answered every single call and email with care and patience (and I had a lot of questions!) - and the whole staff.Important to mention that I started at IRMS during the height of the pandemic in 2020, and the clinic quickly adapted to ensure the safety of both its patients and staff. I always felt comfortable and safe visiting any of the IRMS locations. My infertility journey wasnt linear, and it took a lot of tweaking and a lot of patience. Even when I was feeling discouraged, Dr. Thompson never waivered in terms of her confidence that we would find the right plan for me. And we did!I now have a healthy, happy 4-month old baby girl thanks to the amazing Dr. T!Infertility can be such an emotional and difficult journey, and seeking treatment for it can be overwhelming and scary. I felt all of those things. I encourage anyone who is struggling to conceive to call IRMS and set up an appointment with Dr. Thompson, or any of the incredible doctors at the practice. You will find yourself in the best of hands.Good luck!

My experience at this clinic doing three rounds of failed IVF was terrible, and I regret not switching to a better clinic sooner due to sheer convenience. Among other things, the wrong medications were ordered for me, the instructions for taking medications were on one occasion incorrect, the clinic’s after-hours answering service didn’t work more than once, I was improperly billed for services I couldn’t have possibly consumed, and important test results weren’t timely communicated to me. Unlike my current clinic, the doctors at IRMS were barely involved, and I never saw Dr. Thompson beyond the initial consultation appointments. Dr. Thompson overlooked at least two major potential causes of our infertility which our new clinic immediately picked up on through routine testing. Moreover, Dr. Thompson provided at best vague, incomplete information compared to our current doctor. Test results and instructions were almost always released after my assigned nurse left for the day which meant getting any questions answered was an ordeal. When I could actually reach my assigned nurse, she seemed rushed and as if she didn’t want to be bothered with me. The daily testing times were exceedingly narrow, unlike at my current clinic, and the wait times were almost always unreasonably long, especially on the weekends. The Hoboken office is shared with an OBGYN practice, so you will frequently see babies and pregnant women, whom other clinics actually prohibit in waiting rooms for physical and emotional health reasons. Overall, IRMS exhibited a troubling lack of attention to detail, was poorly organized, and treated me and my husband like numbers at best.To update this post, IRMS overlooked a bunch of causes of our infertility. Thankfully, we found a competent doctor and clinic, and we now have a healthy baby of our own.

I came in for an initial consultation with Dr. Barry Perlman after struggling for a year to get pregnant and losing my first pregnancy to a miscarriage. Dr. Barry was very knowledgeable and offered so much compassion/top-notch beside manner! To my surprise, I was actually pregnant and he immediately understood my worry and followed my pregnancy until I passed my previous miscarriage week. His staff was responsive and always available to answer questions. As a first time pregnant person, it was re-assuring to call his staff and receive immediate same day attention. I highly recommend IRMS and Dr. Barry! Hopefully I dont have to come back :)

Amazing amazing experience. The group of women in Hoboken are phenomenal and as soon as you enter the office you can tell they love what they do. Seeing the relationship and communication between the staff made me much more confident in this process. I knew they would communicate well with each other since there are so many different aspects to Fertility and I previously had a bad experience in NYU because of this. Dr. Thompson was super informative and hopeful for a positive outcome.I was assigned to a Nurse Kim and she was Wonderful and always on time with providing me results and next steps. This was an issue i had at a previous clinic. THIS IS IMPORTANT! You’re entire cycle can be jeopardized if there is no communication. Vicmarie in Finance was amazinggg super super knowledgeable and clear, she even explained the medical aspect of it numerous times because honestly its a lot to take in and she never made me seem like i was bugging her. she truly made it much easier for me. Overall couldnt be happier with switching to this practice after 2 failed IVF cycles in NYU. Not only did I have a positive experience i had a positive outcome with Irms. :) bittersweet not seeing them anymore!

I went there for consultation last year and though the doctor was great, nurse that was assigned to me was terrible. She would never respond to my emails on time and was never reachable on phone. After seeing how she was, I decided not to pursue my treatment with IRMS any further and moved on to RMA.

Never have I come across endocrinologists or reproductive specialists who schedule semen analysis without seeing the patient even once. I never had any faith in endos and urologists because I feel they are all entrenched in the old medieval ways of thinking about hormones. This further reinforces it. Also they dont accept samples after 9 am. Does the clinic close after 9? And why do we have to collect samples at home? Really really strange. Endocrinologists and urologists are mostly quacks, and here it is more evident. Its all about money more than treating people. One star is one too many.

I really wanted to love this place because it was so convenient because I live in Hoboken and I think for that reason I wound up staying wayyyyy too long!!First and foremost the nurse Kim is terrible!!!! I don’t know how they could have her there to be the front line for women who are going through such a touch time in their lives!! She does not give you any information to make sure your prepared for what could and what could not happen. When she found out I was a nurse the first thing she said to me was to remember she was the nurse in this situation however she didn’t guide me at all!! When I told her I was on Facebook support groups she told me that it was nonsense and not to follow them however if it was not for those sites I would have know nothing!! She is short with her patients and has an attitude and is totally non sympathetic!! She does not education on side effects, procedures, or what to expect whether it be good or bad, as is one of the main jobs of a nurse and I felt just leaves you alone guessing and gets aggravated when you ask a lot of questions (would not have to ask so many questions if she did her job).My doctor was very very sweet however there were some obvious problems I had, like ovulating too early, that could have been managed easily (and was at my new clinic) but were never addressed and I was kept on their regular standard protocol. Our insurance was amazing and covered everything however there were a few issues I needed addressed and I can see what the the other reviews were talking about regarding their billing, they didn’t make it easy. Also, their clinic is first come first serve and you don’t have any personal attention there, you see whoever is available, I saw my doctor 3 or 4 times the 8 months and 7 IVF attempts we made. You really only speak to the nurse (for me it was Kim) who by the way tried to keep me from speaking to the doctor a few times so I had to call the Doc at her other clinic ASAP so I could reach her before the nurse would. There were so many times I was the 3rd or 4th person there and would have to wait AN HOUR before being seen making me late for work with no apologies or explanations (being the 3rd or 4th persons there I should have been there no more than 20 mins tops!!). The clinic is also closed on the weekends so your forced to go their other clinic which is about an hour away.I advise you to find another clinic even if this one is more convenient you will regret it!!Also, this is definitely not the reason why I left the clinic but I feel it needs to be mentioned. So this may not bother you but it bothered me and I feel anyone who goes there should be aware it is very very common for women to bring their children there. It’s not once in a while it’s very common, so if you were in a terrible place and still digesting what’s going and find it at the very least odd and insensitive to have children running around in a fertility clinic that’s just another reason you may want to stay clear.

After going to see Dr. Stephanie Thompson and going through the whole process of all the testing that was directed by her I decided to find another practice.1. It took a month for her to communicate any test results2. After going through all of the tests, etc. that were to be done and making an appointment for next steps, my appointment was canceled. It was canceled by a TEXT MESSAGE! When I had to call them to reschedule they were not able to accomodate anything but a monday at 2:30. I found their scheduling and monitoring to be very, very hard to fit in with anyone that has a normal working schedule.3. She was very quick and I felt pressured to jump into IVF treatment without any discussion of other options.4. Overall, I felt this was a very terrible experience when you are going through such an emotional and difficult time. I would not recommend this to anyone!

Dr. Thompson was exceptional. She actually read my file prior to my consultation and was able to provide a personalized treatment plan - that worked! We did IVF, only needed ONE retrieval cycle here (had done 3 at prior clinics) and then one FET (because needed to do genetic testing). We got more viable embryos from the one cycle at IRMS than we did from the other 3 cycles combined. So we have a few in the freezer for down the road, too.Kim, the nurse on-site in Hoboken is wonderful - knowledgeable, approachable, responsive. Never had an issue with my meds. Also kudos to the practice for making the strategic decision to use nurses to coordinate cycles rather than an admin, goes much smoother.Scheduling here is way easier than the other fertility clinics I have been to. AND, monitoring goes quite fast here. Doors open at 6:30 and they open at 7, but they will start seeing patients as soon as they are setup - ie, before 7. They dont stand around talking and then artificially wait until 7 as a power play like other clinics. Finance team was also great. Pricing was transparent and they went above and beyond to get my insurance to cover some pieces, Even though we had already committed to self-pay.Fertility treatments are really taxing emotionally, time-wise, financially. IRMS absolutely realizes that and is run efficiently to help you reach your girls.
