I was born in this Hospital. And after 30 years I will never go back there for an emergency again. My husband and I were treated very poorly because the hospital was busy with other things. I understand delayed patient care. I understand triage. I really dont mind waiting. My surgeon was never called. The excuse was they didnt want to bother him. Even though my arm looks like hamburger from a dog bite. They were going to clean me up and send me home the only reason they kept me overnight is because of pain management is what they said. And when my husband went in the next day the ER doctor told him that they should have stitched him up the night before and they didnt. My surgeon doctor Wilson suggested that I make this. I was very disappointed. If somebody would like to call me and talk about it I will be willing to give more information because this was not the only problem with my entire stay.Edit while the ER was terrible my nurses and actual doctors were amazing and I truly appreciate them!

I just had a baby & I rarely leave reviews but I felt obligated to on this one because of how freaking amazing it was. I wish someone would’ve just told me to deliver here from the very beginning to I didn’t even have to decide. My entire experience from the time I checked in until the time we left was incredible. The nurses & staff are all SO kind, over the top caring & they all will go out of their way to make you feel like you’re the only patient they have. The food was great! (Idk why people say it’s not). The delivery was amazing & the providers & nurses took every concern I said to heart and did everything they could to make my experience top notch. I will deliver my babies here forever!

Unfortunately I’ve had a lot of experience with different emergency rooms in the last year and this was by far the best experience.Still working through some insurance billing issues, but I’m not sure it’s their fault.ER nurses and doctors were kind and not dismissive, a nice contrast to my experience in other ER’s.

Unfortunately for me on July 20th, 2024 I had to be flown from a Yellowstone clinic to EIRMC for a A-Flutter that went back into correct sinus rhythm as soon as we landed. Fortunately for me I received excellent care from Kaitlyn in the ER and when I got to my room on the fourth floor, Alan and Casey continued with this excellent care. This meant a lot to me considering my wife had to close up camp with our friends and then drive 4-5 hours to get to the hospital. These three wonderful nurses helped me feel genuine cared for in my time of need. I can never thank them enough. You guys are the best, dont every change.Sincerely,Alan

Absolutely terrible. They gave me one test, said I had a bladder infection and sent me on my way. They said my massive headache and vertigo were because of my bladder infection. They also gave me morphine without telling me they would not let me drive for 8 HOURS after. They even called a cop to make sure I didnt drive. The staff is not rude but extremely uncaring, like you are just the next part of the machine on the assembly line. The doctor was super uncaring and again, it was like NEXT, then lets quickly find something wrong and send them on their way. I literally felt worse when I left than when I got there. Go somewhere else of you can avoid this sham. I personally am going to contest the bill as I dont think they did anything to get paid for.

Review of Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center:Our experience at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center while delivering our baby boy was nothing short of amazing. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and professionalism. The staff, especially the nurses, went above and beyond to ensure that we had a memorable and comfortable stay. The nurses, in particular, deserve special recognition for their exceptional care. They not only provided excellent medical assistance but also offered emotional support, guidance, and empowerment throughout the entire process. Their dedication and expertise filled us with confidence, making the experience even more special. Moreover, we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the services provided by the cafeteria staff. The meals were delicious and well-prepared, catering to various dietary needs and preferences. This attention to detail enhanced our overall experience and made our stay even more enjoyable. In summary, Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center exceeded our expectations in every aspect. From the outstanding nursing care to the excellent food services, everything contributed to a memorable and positive experience. We are grateful for the exceptional care we received and would highly recommend this facility to anyone in need of medical services. In addition to the exceptional care and services provided, we were thrilled with the accommodations at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. The postpartum rooms featuring king-size beds were a highlight of our stay. The comfort and spaciousness of the rooms allowed us to relax and bond as a family in a cozy environment. It was a refreshing change to be able to sleep next to our partner in a comfortable bed rather than on a couch or in separate beds. The attention to detail in providing such comfortable accommodations further enhanced our overall experience and made our time at the hospital even more enjoyable.10/10 would recommend!

I wouldnt send my dog here. These people are judgmental , mindless, and about as smart as a goldfish. they wouldnt do what it took to save my life because of judgment beliefs. He told us that there were techniques that would work for him but they refused to allow them. They let him suffer when they have the resources to give him comfort. Finally, they decided to send him home to die. The night before he was to go home I asked the lead nurse if I could spend the night thinking that perhaps tonight would be the night he died. she refused telling me that hospice patients families are allowed to spend the night up here. Like I said I would send my dog here.

I absolutely loved this hospital.Everyone here was so great to work with, they were all so caring and provided such great care for me my partner and then my baby.I was scheduled for an induction, from the minute we walked in we were greeted with friendly faces. Jenasy?? Was my first nurse and she made me feel like we were long time friends,my baby was on a lazy day barely moving and constantly sleeping, she kept taking me sweet/cold snacks to make sure he’d wake up. My labor was funny. He took his sweet time, but once he decided he was coming he came fast and at one point I did freak a little thinking I was gonna have my baby without a Dr. present, but everything was great. My second nurse was DQ, and I also loved her. Jazmine was a sweetheart, and I kinda wish I had stayed longer to get to know Tiffany the last nurse I interacted with. Also all the student nurses were all so absolutely amazing. All my nurses made sure I had my medication when I needed it, and were very attentive to my needs. The food was delicious, and the fact that they went around “taking your order” made so much nicer. After my babies bath a onesie got lost and I didn’t think too much of it, I had a back up, then a few weeks ago his onesie showed up in my mail box.The king size beds were a nice change, even though I liked sleeping a little more inclined than my partner, so his sleeping experience wasn’t the best -😂The cleaning lady was also so so nice.Nurses, Dr’s, cafeteria staff, thank you for making my last baby experience so easy and memorable.

I had a terrible experience at EIRMC hospital. I went in for a fall in January and they only did a CT scan of my elbow, completely neglecting to check any other part of my arm. As a result, I ended up needing two surgeries on my elbow because the first one failed. Now, six months later, I am still in excruciating pain in my hand and wrist and it turns out I may have more fractures and ligament tears in those areas that were never detected or treated. Not even checked for that matter. I am extremely disappointed with the lack of thoroughness and care I received at this hospital and would not recommend it to anyone.

I hate this hospital. There are areas that are frustrating as an in going patient needing to see doctors or have X-rays. Not sure if people who answer the phone know their job. This is a repeat issue when I call to schedule something for my immune compromised child who has lots of needs medically. I will continue to drive to Boise till there is a better program for children. I’m not sure how it is with adults but over the years I’ve not heard great things about the hospital, and thought I would see it for myself and see how things are done. Hoping it was better than I’ve heard This is the third time Ive called in about a week about an order sent to Ermic. I’m sure there are good people who work here , I’m not sure the issue with communicating pleasantly with people to schedule things, maybe there should be people who know how to pleasantly talk to people. You at the hospital may know what’s happening but the outside doesn’t so there is no need to treat people disrespectfully, like we’re dumb. Im not sure what the issue is with getting orders from st Luke’s in Boise to this hospital . I really need to be on top of what’s going with my daughter. this is not the first time this has happened . It’s happen four out of six times. Weve seen lots of docs in 14 years and this is the worst place most people who work at facilities are understanding and considerate of others. I’m sure there are great docs and great things with this hospital but my few times have been a bit frustrating.

We went in on march because my husband fell off a ladder. He dislocated his shoulder. It was a Saturday morning the nurses and Drs were quick and very caring. We had concerns with his shoulder again in May after surgery (not done at EIRMC) and ended up back at the ER. Again very understanding and most of all listened to our concerns. I just can’t say enough good things about EIRMC. My first choice in a heart beat. Dr Nick and Rebekah are just wonderful. I never did catch the nurse who took care of us while in the ER but he gave outstanding care as well.

Ive been in here twice now for a spontaneous pneumothorax and the first stay was nothing short of rocky to say the least. It was quite a fight to get any form of pain treatment that actually helped and it didnt come without a bit of a struggle and multiple times mentioning how nothing was working. After the first stay ending things didnt get better, they got much, much worse. And after coming back in its been an even worse experience. Ive been asked to do multiple painful exercises, had the only pain medication that worked taken from me, and now its 3 in the morning and I feel like this place could care less about my pain. My new nurse Joe has to be the worst yet with almost zero social skills or communication to help me through this process. If making me miserable is the goal here then they are 100% doing it well because Ive never been more upset in my life. Im hoping to file an official complaint not just through a Google review but through a manager or official form as well. If -5 stars was possible I would be putting -6 just to drive it in as to how bad things have been. This entire process has done nothing but scare me and my family and doesnt seem to be getting any better. If I were to recommend anything. Go to one of the other hospitals here in Idaho falls. Ive been to hospitals across the country do to constantly moving because my family being in the military. And this may just be one of the worst Ive ever been to.

My dad stayed there after a knee replacement by Dr. Redd, and my brother in law died there last year. My granddaughters were born there, also. (Their new womens center is BEAUTIFUL.) I think this hospital has the same issues that all hospitals have. The healthcare system in the US is messy. I think we all know that. Overall, theyre good though.

I went to the ER for fluids as I have a condition that causes hypovolemia (low blood volume) but does not present with typical markers of dehydration in blood work. Rather than giving me the usual amount of fluids my body requires to literally not pass out when I stand, the attending doctor, Jason, instead told me my blood work was pristine and therefore it was impossible that I was dehydrated. He has no expertise in my condition and told me I would have to clear getting saline with a supervisor. I did. Took three hours to get two bags of saline but I am very grateful to the other nurses for actually listening to my needs and explanation. Jason, go read some journal articles before you gaslight another patient. -3 stars for Jason, 5 stars for the other staff.

As soon as he saw my EKG and was to his standard not in any immediate danger, I never saw him again! NEVER!! The nurse told me the were thinking my Pancreas, ummm well okay Ill bite! I was in the ER over 3.5 hours and them admitted to the cardiac floor! I was NEVER told how my tests turned out, never told I was being admitted, NOTHING!!! Just tucked away so they didnt have to deal with me any longer. I was discharged from the hospital the next day with NO ANSWERS!! It was drilled into my head tho that if I was having chest pain to immediately return to the ER. So....was I just supposed to walk out the front door and back into the ER? You discharged me still having chest pain!!! I know that not everything is diagnosed at the time you are there, buy how do release someone who is telling you they arent feeling well?? Who has chest pain.... Cardiac history of 4 stents and a double bypass....This is wrong!!!

They say theyre working on it and theyve had to redo everything multiple times telling me it will take another month every time and we had the procedure done in NOVEMBER. I paid upfront to save the $300 and now theyve been sending me more bills and our insurance should have been billed a different way so that I didnt even owe the $1300 I paid upfront and I cant get it back from them because they keep telling me they have to refill it all EVERY FREAKING MONTH!!!!!!!!

Update,,, received my bill,,almost $9000,, ( 2 hours in ER, 1 chest exray, a nasal swab, and an IV with medication), my cut after insurance was $2100. Phoned EIRMC to speak with billing department to request a discount and pay in full. Was transferred to billing and experienced a bunch of clicks. Noone ever answered. Called back, transferred again and same thing happened. Was unable to speak with anyone or leave a message. I then phoned billing company. Again,, unable to speak with anyone or leave a message. Lowest payment option through automated system was 217.First and foremost. EVERYONE was kind and compassionate. Quick care. I am not a whimp so I feel like i was knocking on deaths door to consider going to an ER. I was concerned about Meningitis, which can be fatal, and I had suffered from 4 months prior. MDlive would not treat me due to symptoms. Same issue at community care. I could not get into my primary who also sends labs out so a delayed diagnosis. I was originally going to try Community Hospital ER but was not interested in learning a new process. I truly felt like I was going to die. When nasal swab showed nothing ( they definitely seemed worried about every form of Corona though,,,,still must be a kick back for that) They did take one chest xray and as soon as something/anything appeared (pneumonia lower right lung, even though DO said left lung) they were done. Could not get me out of there fast enough!!! Did not consider anything else. They did no testing for meningitis even though thats what I was concerned about. Gave me an antibiotic. I asked for an antiviral drug along with the antibiotics, Could not hurt cuz they sure didnt test for much. I was told no because a virus would have shown as a high WBC,,,which they never tested. But they did reference as not high. ????? I found out later they did not run any blood tests even though they pulled viles of blood. So there was not a WBC to reference. I was even worse 2 days later and had to seek additional treatment elsewhere. I had also experienced a significant loss of hearing.at this point,,,another sign of meningitis . The MD that treated me at second facility was confused as to why no bloodwork was run. He did,, however,, prescribe 3 medications. After reading the results of the nasal swab I noticed I was not treated by an MD but a DO. Would have never consented to treatment from a DO. I have had nothing but horrible, life threatening experiences with DOs but I was so sick and did not monitor the staff. Shouldnt have too.No quality care here...mahbe if the taxpayers were covering the bill additional testing would have been provided.

For my first birth, labor and delivery was awesome. The nurses in labor and delivery were wonderful and supportive in walking me through the preeclampsia and the induction and eventual C-section. They were great about explaining my options, risks, and benefits and letting me choose what I wanted to do. It made a very scary situation better. However, after the C-section, is where things went very wrong and awful. When I was moved to postpartum care, the nurses were not as helpful or supportive. They were behind on giving me pain medication for my incision and so I was often in pain. They infiltrated my IV leaving my arm swollen and painful and I asked several times for them to help with that and was ignored each time. I was only given 5 minutes to hold my baby before he was taken out of my arms and whisked away, with the nurse saying that he was grunting and that was an indicator that he needed oxygen. I was not told that he was being taken to the NICU, nor did I give my consent to that. He was born only a few hours short of being considered full term, he was a healthy size and weight, and he had a great APGAR score. I wasn’t able to see him until a few days after. The NICU was the worst part of my whole experience. I was never told any diagnosis of why he was being kept there. When I got to see him, he was on oxygen but stopped needing it after a couple of days. Then he was put on a nasal feeding tube, again no explanation or consent. The day after I was discharged, I came to see him in the NICU and deliver more breast milk and found him laying in a puddle of his own vomit and a soiled diaper and his nurse was nowhere to be found. The vomit on his face had crusted over, so it had been a while since he had been checked. Then I was told that he was being held for “feeding issues” saying that he was not eating enough and not keeping it down. They were expecting him to eat more than 2 ounces every 3 hours in 15 minutes and he was less than a week old. Then rather than looking at the amount they were feeding him which was based on a calculation rather than his actual needs and feeding cues, or the formula they were feeding him, they were wanting to withhold food for 6 hours to do an ultrasound, then surgery and possibly a swallow test with radioactive material. It was a fight to stop them from doing those things to my baby unnecessarily and look at simpler issues, like decreasing the volume and changing the formula. We had to bring in an independent pediatrician to help us stop them and come up with a concrete plan for getting him released. I was not supported to breastfeed or do skin to skin in the NICU and no real privacy was given for pumping. I was yelled at by a nurse for not knowing rules of the NICU, but no rules were ever shared with me. Then they kept moving the goalposts of what was required to allow for my baby’s release. All while I was still trying to recover from the birth. There was no sort of empathy from the NICU, except from 2 of his nurses. They were the only ones I could trust to truly care for my son. Getting him discharged was a nightmare and a huge fight with hospital staff threatening calling CPS and hitting us with the full NICU bill if we tried to take him AMA. Despite how wonderful labor and delivery was, the rest of the experience was completely awful.

Very frustrating dealing with the billing department. My husband had to have an er visit here on our way home and because it was part of another recent incident in another state our insurance advised us not to begin paying any bills stemming from the incident until all billing has completed. I called in and left a message for someone to call me to discuss this bill and also stated on the message what our insurance company advised. No one ever returned the call. We were never provided with a estimated cost of the visit before hand so receiving the bill was surprising to begin with as honestly the bare minimum of care was provided to begin with. No sense of true concern or urgency was relayed from the er staff as it was. And we were there for hours. So since no one could return a message to discuss the bill it just was turned into collections? Absolutely ridiculous. Calls should be returned especially when the message left stated there was an issue occurring.

My son, who is 3 months old with Down Syndrome, got admitted on Monday night, 1/1/24 for Covid Pneumonia. He spent the first night in the PICU and was then transferred to the pediatric floor. Our experience in the pediatric unit was beyond negligent. I understand the regular unit flooded, but that doesnt mean the patient care should suffer. From the time he was moved up, we were all but ignored. We had to ask a nurse for toilet paper, since there was none in the bathroom, there were no towels to shower. And our baby son was ignored. His monitor was going off all night, all day, and no one came to check on him, not once. They came to do his vitals at the prescribed times, and that was it. Luckily we have home oxygen so we are familiar with the equipment, but if we had been uninformed, can you imagine the panic we would have been feeling every time it went off? We couldnt leave his room or else he would have been completely alone. A three month old with pneumonia. At one point his monitor was going off for a solid two minutes and still no one came to check. I had to go into the hallway and ask who the hell is supposed to be monitoring my child, and was then told that the surgical desk was monitoring him, not the pediatric nurses. I ended up turning the monitor off completely. It was off for over 20 minutes, meaning it was showing offline out at the surgical desk, and no one came to check! At this point I went out and demanded to be discharged since I could do everything, and more, for him at home than what was being done for him at the hospital. He was on oral antibiotics, and receiving oxygen, which we the parents had to monitor. We had to feed him, change him, weigh his diapers since they wanted to know his output but couldnt be bothered to actually check in on him. The nurse who was discharging us, when we voiced our complaints and told her the monitor had been completely shut off, informed us that our son had been downgraded to spot check only. Meaning no one was monitoring my baby. NO ONE. Overall just astounding how truly awful our experience was. Mountain View is on another planet compared to this hospital in the patient care and treatment. If my son ever needs to be admitted to PICU or pediatric unit and cant be seen at Mountain View, we will be taking him to Primary Childrens. I would rather travel out of state than allow this hospital to care for my baby again. The cherry on top was that our prescription was never called in so we had to hunt that down this morning. I honestly dont think our experience could have been worse.

Never go to this hospital!! Medical staff is great, but the financial department is horrible. My daughter, who is a full time student and working part-time had been married for only two weeks. She has a chronic illness and needed emergency attention. Her husband drove her from Rexburg to Idaho Falls to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center to get help. After insurance her bill was over $2000.00. She received bills in the mail, and also phone calls from the financial dept. of the medical hospital. She was unable to answer the calls because she was in class. She tried to call the financial office back many, MANY times, leaving messages each time. Months later she was finally able to get in touch with a woman in the financial office who told her she could fill out an application to have the remainder of her bill taken care of non-profit. The woman sent the application. My daughter filled it out and the next day she drove an hour to the hospital and hand delivered the application. TWO MONTHS later my daughter received a letter saying that the hospital had never received her application for financial help. My daughter began calling the hospital and leaving messages again. WEEKLY! A debt collector called my daughter and said that her bill had gone to collections. My daughter began calling the financial office AND the social workers offices daily. She asked the hospital operator if she could talk to an administrator. The operator called several numbers (financial office, social workers office, administrators office) apologizing all the while to my daughter saying that she was too getting answering machines. Finally the operator was able to connect her to a man who told my daughter that this was her fault for waiting too long to take care of her bill. He also told her that because she has insurance she would likely not qualify for financial help for OVER TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS. She and her sweet husband are working so hard, both in school full-time and working part-time for minimum wages. They are good citizens giving all they can to their community. They are on a government pale grant. Insurance paid 80 percent of the bill and the hospital cant help them!?! This man continued to tell her that he was a busy student once but he still took care of his financial responsibilities. This man and his team cant even answer their phone or return a phone message, and he thinks my daughter should be more responsible!?!

My wife spent an eventful 60 days at EIRMC due to pregnancy complications, and our journey had its ups and downs. The labor and delivery nurses were nothing short of amazing – their care and support made a challenging situation much more bearable. From the moment we arrived, they exhibited unmatched professionalism, empathy, and dedication. Their ability to navigate difficult moments with grace and reassurance was truly commendable. These nurses became more than healthcare providers; they became a source of strength during a vulnerable time.On the flip side, the food service was a major letdown. Its hard to put into words just how disappointing the meals were. Quality aside, the variety and taste left much to be desired, making an already stressful time even more challenging.Currently, our baby is in the NICU, and the love and care provided by the staff there have been outstanding. The NICU teams expertise and compassion shine through, giving us confidence during this critical period. In summary, EIRMC is a mixed bag – exceptional labor and delivery nurses and NICU staff, but a significant letdown in the food department. Grateful for the positive aspects, but improvements in certain areas would undoubtedly enhance the overall experience. The labor and delivery nurses, in particular, deserve a standing ovation for their unwavering support and exceptional care.

Everything from checking in to being discharged was smooth. The nurses and staff were caring, kind and wonderful in every way. I stayed in the Womens Wing which was calm and very comfortable! This was the first time Ive needed to spend the night in a hospital and it was as good of an experience as possible for being in a hospital. Courtney (day nurse) and Jenny (night nurse) were absolutely wonderful!!!

My son is currently in the hospital and potentially will be there for several more weeks. Hes been there almost a month already. The care has been excellent by the Drs and nurses. But the food is ridiculous. I cant post a picture unfortunately but the food he got this evening no person should have to eat. I do have the pictures saved. Ive taken him breakfast several times and try to make sure hes stocked up on things he can reheat so he gets at least one decent meal a day. The number of people I see carry food in just so their family members can have a decent meal is crazy. I visit almost daily and I normally see at least one or more familys carrying food in. I 2 in sliver of chicken does not a meal make. I think the meals should be taken off the medical bills. Ive walked by rooms and heard people calling to have someone bring them food after seeing their meal. That to me is very sad considering the amount of money a hospital stay costs

Top notch care at the ER! I was admitted quickly, triaged quickly and seen by a doctor quickly - which is what everyone hopes for when you must be seen at the ER. My nurse, Juanita, was the best! She was compassionate and efficient, and I felt as if I were her only patient. Nick, the MRI technician, was careful and concerned about my comfort. Dr. Cook was the only one who seemed a bit hurried, however, he listened very carefully about what happened, and narrowed the diagnosis to two possibilities. He ordered an MRI to rule out a more serious problem and he seemed genuinely happy when he told me he had great news when the MRI results came in. Overall, I had great care at EIRMC! The team that cared for me was the best! Thank you!!

My daughter (40 yrs. Old) and I were traveling. Idaho was one of our stops. She was having trouble with her asthma, we came in to get her a breathing treatment. The check in and treatment were great. The doctor however kept harping about smoking. I had already told him I smoked and was not smoking in the car. We had camped at or previous stop so my coat smelt like a camp fire. I told him that also, even offered to let him smell it. My daughter was being a bit snappy so I told her that and that it was best I wait outside in the lobby. She told me they came in to ask if she was in danger!!! I would NEVER put my daughter in any form of danger. I maybe spanked her 5 times in her whole life. I was appalled at such an accusation!!! If we had not already left the state before she told me I would have definitely gone back and complained.

I spent 20 days in the hospital, here is my review broken into sections:RoomThe rooms I stayed in were very small, could barely maneuver anything around in them. The recliner chairs are not a substitute for a bed. My wife was barely able to sleep in them and woke up with a sore back. With how much the hospital charges, the hospital should be able to afford something better. In my first room, the air vent was positioned right under the bed which created a draft that either froze my feet or made them very hot. The climate control was horrible. And the beds, not comfortable at all. Get better mattresses please.MealsOne of the worst parts of my stays. They started me on the liquid only diet. The oatmeal was rancid. The only thing I could handle was the burn shakes. Those were ok and were the only thing keeping me alive since everything else tasted so bad. All the doctors and nurses agreed with me. They all know the food is horrible an no one is doing anything about it. My second stay, when took me off the liquid only diet, the food became tolerable. Around 50% of it tasted ok enough to eat it where the rest of it was too gross to consume. The nasty food contributed to the fact that I lost 20-25 pounds while in the hospital.NursesOverall, the nurses were amazing, caring, helpful, and everything a nurse should be. We ended up nominating one of the nurses for the award they can get because she fixed a huge problem that I will talk about in the doctor’s section. I think her name was Sarah Potter? Amazing lady.DoctorsThis is a mixed bag because some of the doctors were amazing, others, not so much. I saw a lot of doctors in my almost 20 days in the hospital. My surgeon, Dr. Garcia, I think is responsible for all of the things I’ve had to go through during these past 2 months. He took out the gall stone but also perforated my bowel which then turned into a huge infection in my stomach. Dr. Olaveson, who took my gall bladder out, doesn’t have the best bedside manners. It’s probably his personality, but it doesn’t really seem like he cares that much about you and just wants to leave the room the minute he’s in there. All I know is a gall bladder removal is supposed to be a 3-4 day recovery type operation and this has turned into a 2 month nightmare of infections and blood clots.Another issue we had is they put a drain in the side of my stomach. The first day I had it I was in bed, had to go to the bathroom, and couldn’t hold it. The drugs were still wearing off so my brain was a little hazy, I didn’t even realize I had the drain in so when I got out of bed, the drain was tugged on, it tore and started a small leak. They didn’t want to remove the drain so they just let it leak which required us to put bandages on it and replace them every few hours. Because of this, my skin was became raw because of the tape they had to keep taking on and off. I would complain about the pain to the nurses and doctors and no one really seemed to care. My skin was being torn off every few hours, the drain would leak onto the bed, it hurt whenever the drain moved, it was a horrible situation. Finally, I told them about how painful the drain was and how it was crazy no one cared or was doing anything. Then, Sarah, I call her my angel nurse, stood up for me, took control, and basically told the doctors that this needed to be fixed. The doctors still didn’t really care but they gave our nurse permission to go to another floor where they had different types of supplies and told her if she could figure something out then great, but they weren’t going to do anything. All of those medical degrees, all in one room, and not one of them could, or wanted to figure out how to fix this problem. So Sarah left for about 30 minutes, found a colostomy bag, attached it to my drain and made it so nothing was being placed and ripped from my skin anymore. From that moment on, my stay in the hospital improved immensely. If you got to the end, thank you for reading and I hope your stay is better than mine was.

Also when being discharged I didnt good instructions on what I needed to do to take care of myself. Social worker they had was going to come see me and never showed up. I was initially impressed with the pediatric ER due to how fast they got my son back to triage and in a room, but that’s where it ends. I took him in for burns and his pain was through the roof, screaming it hurt so bad. Not only didn’t they use lidocaine but after asking for more ice multiple times because the pack we brought from home melted, I had to go find it myself. I expected so much more from a pediatric ER, I never thought taking him there for treatment would end up traumatizing him more than he already was and prevent us from actually receiving the treatment he needed. I had a hysterectomy last week and the care I received post operation was atrocious. The only thing they cared about was getting me out of the bed so it could be turned over. I was out of surgery by 10:25 and it took about an hour and a half for me to be coherent enough for them to take me to my room. They had me eat 3 crackers right away so I could take a pain pill. As soon as that was done they told me husband to get me up, dressed, and to the bathroom to see if I was able to go. At this point my pain was still fluctuating between a 6 and a 9, I was extremely nauseous, and my oxygen levels were dropping into the 80s. Oh and I was still out of it from the anesthesia. By 12:30, so 30 minutes after getting to the recovery room and even though my doctor told us 4 to 5 hours, they had me loaded up in my husbands car and going home. I will never go back to this hospital again for as long as I live and neither will any member of my family. Going forward all of my services will be through Mountain View and the IF Community Hospital.****Update: After going in after this review and receiving a comment, I went into to EIRMC and showed them the paperwork. Then, on May 28th, memorial weekend, I came in with another Urinary Tract Infection. It seemed to me the more experienced staff were off that weekend. The people I had helping me were very inexperienced. One CNA. The first thing they did was to put a catheter in. The wrong catheter. She tried to force it and then pulled it out when she realized it couldnt be forced. Of course, I had blood spurting from my urethra every time my heartbeat. It was bad. So, then they went and brought back a second catheter; the right one, very late and shoved that in place to stop the bleeding. Talk about painful. They had said its this or you can go elsewhere. Right. The second catheter kept clogging, blood clotting from whatever they tore. So, they went and brought back an even bigger one. Makes a good plug? I ended up in another hospitals emergency room roughly an hour later because of pain and discomfort, the catheter was still not right. I filed a complaint with EIRMC soon after. A Raymee Marlin, patient advocate wrote me back June 14th. Said it would be looked into. Another letter from Raymee Marlin, was sent on June 20th, they found nothing was done wrong. To this day I find Urologists hesitant to help me further due to possible scar tissue and whatever was torn.

I came in for a medically necessary induction. I explained to the nursing staff my birth plan, and was sorely disappointed. My labor was high risk and they did not care at all about me or my comfort. For example, when I went to use the shower to help with contractions, it broke and flooded the room. It seemed like a fairly simple fix, but they insisted their maintenance guy would not fix it. I requested to go to another room and they ignored me. (Even though all the other rooms on the l&d floor were empty at the time except for maybe one other person). I had back labor and it became really horrid with the pitocin contractions. I was trying to go natural but without being able to use the shower or even a heat pad (because the electricity went out in the hospital 🤦‍♀️), I requested an epidural. The guy who did my epidural was not my favorite, I had blood running down my back and pooling onto my bed from the epidural site. It also began to wear off after a few hours and I felt just about everything when I gave birth to my baby. The nurses would argue with me when I did not consent to certain medical procedures. One nurse even did something completely against my will and even when I told her I did not consent. Absolutely disgusted with my care. You could tell the nurses hated being there and just treated me like garbage. I did have one nurse who was okay, but I could tell she didnt like being there, but at least she listened to my concerns and treated me like a human being. The nurses arent paying attention to anything when youre in labor. For example, I pressed the nurse call button when I felt like the baby was coming quickly ( I went from 4-9 cm in about an hour). I told them baby was coming, and they never came into the room. My husband went out 10 minutes later to find all the nurses laughing and chatting at the nurses station. I ended up having the baby 45 minutes later. Also Ill add that I told the resident Dr to not pull on the cord/placenta. He did anyways, and I hemorraged a TON. Seems to be a trend of never listening to the patient and what they do or do not consent to. 🙃The things Ive mentioned in this review are just the tip of the iceberg. I would rather have a homebirth, bleed out and risk dying than going back to EIRMC. This place is not conducive to natural labor, the nurses will kill you from not paying attention and if they dont, they wont listen to you when you say NO.The thought of going back sends shudders down my spine. AVOID like the plague.

I had the worst experience at this hospital my Father was hospitalized because he had a stroke and everything was going well I had to ask them multiple times about what I was concerned about and they would brush it off until it was serious my father lost movement on his left side they said he wouldn’t be able to move it again but he was showing them otherwise so they said with therapy he could possibly walk again he then got a blood clot on his right arm from a Iv line I kept telling them the swelling on his arm was not normal until they did a ultrasound and saw he had blood clots there and they had spoke to me about a procedure to pull them out since they knew were they were and he couldn’t be on blood thinners because of the brain bleed (stroke) they decided it wasn’t necessary to do anything that it wouldn’t affect him I then left that night came the next morning and he was unresponsive they said he may of had a seizure but they weren’t sure since no one saw they said he would wake that people are usually tired after a seizure I kept asking and asking why my father was not even talking or awake for a little they kept saying that it was normal I told them there’s no possible way it’s normal for him to be unresponsive for over 24 hours they then did a mri and said nothing had changed there was nothing on there that would make him be unresponsive another doctor then went to look at the scan and he tells me my father had gotten 3 more strokes on the other side of his brain from the blood clots he then tells me that the area were they were wouldn’t affect his ability to move his right side and he expects a recovery to how he was previously a couple days later my father started moving his right side I would ask him something he would respond with his leg or arm in a yes or no form I felt he was getting better but with all the medicine they gave him for his brain his kidneys started to fail at this time I felt the icu team was being very pushy and un compassionate asking if we wanted them to keep going or get him off everything they even went on saying if it were them etc

If I wasnt for my daughter staying with me I would have had to wait to go to the bathroom. I had to empty my own urinal hat. I was waiting to be discharged and the nurse left to go get lunch. Finally I got sick of waiting and just walked to nurses station so I could go home.

It wasn’t busy the night I went in. I went right into a room and had a great nurse who was very kind and attentive. I was there for about 3.5 hours, which unfortunately is an average visit to the ER. The ultrasound technician that was on call was also nice and kind. The doctor listened... wasn’t chatty or explained much, but he attended to the immediate concern and told me to follow up with my regular doc with a few suggestions on what to talk to her about. Overall, not too bad of an experience.

I had back surgery at EIRMC in July and was sent to 3rd floor to recover. Except for two night nurses, the nursing care there was terrible. The day nurses were too busy and were rude and telling me that I should not be in pain. I was never offered a bath in the five days I was there and had to use the call light so much. The CNAs were very sweet, both male and female but the day RNS were not kind and had no bedside manner at all.I went back to the ER and was admitted to the 4th floor for continued back pain. The nursing care there was excellent. I had mostly male RNs and they were very efficient, brought my meds on time and just generally were kind. What made the difference between the two floors is the quality of nurses that are hired and I understand there is a nursing shortage but sadly if you have surgery scheduled, I would suggest going to the other Idaho Falls Hospital. It seemed like anyone with a degree has been hired regardless of their nursing care and how they treat patients. Nurses make ALL the difference in your experience!!!

Barely gave me any pain meds ( came back 3.5 hours later after asking for more meds.). didn’t know how to treat my type 1 diabetes and my sugars were way high 300-400. 5/5 stars for fabulous care and amazing staff in labor and delivery, NICU, and Same day surgery. However, -10/5 stars for billing office and communication with patients. after my experiences with billing I would NOT recommend using this hospital, You are sure to experience billing discrepancies, outrageous bills leaving huge outstanding balances and unwilling staff to help you navigate those issues. All you are to this hospital is simply a dollar sign over. They have no qualms about sending you to collections and you won’t seen anything about it until you get a call from the most unhelpful collections company on the face of the planet with the most unrealistic expectations for payment plan amounts, they dont consider family status or income. The negative experiences with billing put such a nasty taste in my mouth and caused the 1-star review. I wish I didn’t have to leave this review as I do think that EIRMC Is a quality faculty but only If you are a millionaire with that said do your research and visit a different facility.

My financial advisor did respond back with zero answers to my questions other than that it takes 45 business days to review an application, but that must not be the case considering 45 business days was almost a month ago. Again, this hospital will not help you in anyway as previously stated. They are severely unprofessional and will not follow up with you.I am very upset with the care I have received. I came in with a migraine that had been lasting several days and was in and out in less than 2 hours and ended up with 4 different bills but the main one from the hospital for over $1,100, which they charged $80 multiple times for simple medications given. I expressed not being able to afford this astronomical bill and was told to fill out an application for financial assistance. I did that almost 3 months ago now and my financial counselor will not respond to emails or offer any help. I have now received bills stating my agreement is not being met but my financial counselor told me that my account was on hold. EIRMC has been so frustrating to deal with considering I was sent home with NO answers or relief. I have seen IFCH 3 times and they helped me tremendously. I would not recommend this hospital at all.

The nurses and phych techs were mostly great. Most were on top of things and made the stay easier.Meds were usually handed out properly. There were a small group of nurses/techs who usually messed up the meds and had to do them over...which when fixed they were very tart at me because I saw the mistake.A couple of the nurses/techs made undo/unfair assumptions about the patients, me, so they just ignored me the first 5 minutes of standing at the counter for meds, worst of all waiting for my nicotine lozenge. I felt as if I were an inconvence for them that I was even standing there. The room I was in was so cold I had 6 blankets to just keep warm. They shower head is imbedded in the ceiling, at 7 or so feet high. It was plugged with hard water and only spittled out water, never got the soap out my hair. The Dr who saw me helped to get my medications straightened out and was kind and caring. Thankful for him! After all this, prior to me leaving I had a great talk with Penny about her story and how she has to use different techniques to keep her in the present. That really hit a cord with me, I learned more in that short time chatting with her that I was grateful to have been there. Thankful for her!All in all it was uncomfortable and irritating at times but it was what I needed to get back on track.

I just want to say, some people can try to control their pain better than others but is no less in bad condition as someone screaming. I know alot of sickness is always going around but its not always a viral cold. Please be more aware of other possibilities and listen to your patient so you can properly treat them. Otherwise, I am genuinely worried if I was to ever have a real emergency and went to eirmc.. When I called the cardiologist they advised me that they cant schedule that without an order written from that doctor. I called the emergency room and was advised that the ER doctors cannot do that and was referred back to my primary care physician. Needless to say it took me an hour and a 1/2 to get an answer of what I needed to do. I feel like instructions should be a little more clear when it comes to the follow up piece. Then the very next day I was sent a text with a question of whether or not I did my follow up and to call if I needed help getting that scheduled. That seems a little misleading when no one there can help schedule a follow up.

It is understandable that an emergency stay can be more difficult over a holiday weekend like Labor Day. My husbands operation to mend a broken hip went well and those taking care of him did OK, but communication seems to always be a big problem. I was able to speak with the surgeon for 10 minutes after the hip repair, but no additional information was forthcoming. My husbands general physician was not apparently allowed in EIRMC so we had to be served by an unexperienced intern who had no previous contact or information about my husband. It would seem that any physician should be able to care for a patient who is admitted through the emergency room services.Caretakers meant well, but there are just so many who are young and inexperienced. It is fortunate that I was able to be with my husband much of the time as I felt I had to inform each new crew that came on duty. The very first night after the operation,, my husband developed a bed sore due to a wrinkled pad. Attending to all those kind of details come with experience. We finally had an informative conversation with a social worker in regards to the transfer to a rehab facility. I am sorry I dont remember her name or title. The problem of staffing is most likely true most everywhere. And communication is always in need of improving.

I honestly was blown away by the love and care I received at this hospital. The nurses truly care about their jobs and their patients. Had to take our daughter for dental surgery and everything was excellent as far as surgery went.We did all get extremely sick immediately after the visit but with covid running rampant Im not surprised. We were told that our insurance would not cover any part of their expenses and could pay immediately. We decided to wait and go through insurance anyway just in case, and it turns out that insurance is actually paying a part of it. Not sure why they told us differently.

The staff were friendly and well organized even at 5 in the morning when I went in for my hysterectomy. After my surgery though, I informed them I was in pain and passed their criteria for it. They didnt give me enough and I started wailing in pain. They attempted to give me another small dose of it, but I was in too much pain for it to be effective. It took over an hour of extreme pain for them to give effective meds. Throughout they were very professional, but they werent listening to my sister who had the same issues when she had the surgery at IRMC.

I scheduled an HSG through the phone with Eirmc and then follow up the registration steps through their app. When I get there they say Im not showing on the system and that the appointment was done for a different day even though the app is showing the correct day for me. Today was the last day I could have this ultrasound done and their scheduling issues both through the phone and the app have completely messed up my testing schedules and now need to wait an entire month! Extremely disappointed of their lack of data ownership and customer service.

If I could give this hospital a zero I would. I had two emergency surgeries here last spring and the care from the nursing staff was unprofessional and downright egregious. The Drs were sharp but a serious overhaul of the aftercare should be conducted. There was one nurse, Kate, on the 4th Floor, who was fantastic.

Last week I went to the emergency room for abdominal pain which was quite severe. The doctors in the ER ordered a CAT scan, which then took nearly four hours to get results from. Upon receiving the results, a doctor proceeded to tell me they found a mass in my stomach and it was most likely cancer. What he neglected to tell me was that the gastroenterologist who read my results indicated he did not believe this was cancer at all. So, I was sent to the oncology floor. The next dat my wife had to go to the nurses station to find out who my doctor and nurse were. She was told they didnt know, I hadnt been assigned to anyone. The next night my nurse neglected to read what had been written in the notes. These notes indicated that I was not to be woken to take vital signs. Unfortunately, she did wake me several times. In conjunction with ivs, blood draws, and other visits it was a sleepness night that did not need to be. With that being said, once I was assigned a day nurse, she turned out to be the only good thing the hospital did for me. Nicole on the fifth floor was the only reason my stay at EIRMC was bearable. She was compassionate, legitimately seemed concerned about my well-being, and most importantly took the time to explain everything to my wife so she knew exactly what was occurring. Another example of her just being a good person: She found out my wife and I were formerly in the Marine Corps. The next morning when she came in, she brought my wife a Marine Corps coffee mug and brought me a Marine Corps t-shirt as well as a stress ball. She went above and beyond what we could have ever asked of a nurse and I wish there was more I could do so that she is recognized.

NEVER GO HERE!!! I experienced a reaction to some medication that sent pain throughout my body. It was late evening and ended up going to EIRMC. They lamely treated me and seriously left me screaming for help for three hours before my muscles totally cramped and my husband asked if they could give me something. They finally gave me a shot of valium which helped. THREE HOURS in severe pain! I requested an investigation. Their response was the care I was provided was appropriate. I still get emotional talking about the 3 hours I was left with intense pain. I ended up going to my personal doctor the following day as I was still experiencing a significant amount of pain. Multiple physicians at his facility were uphauled at the treatment I received from EIRMC. Due to concerns from my physician, I have had three follow-up visits and now need physical therapy for muscles damaged by contraction for so many hours. I despise EIRMC. If you have a choice, NEVER GO HERE!

Nate in the ER, Katie in ICU, and Nathan in Physical Therapy are the best workers. They were so caring of my husband, Patrick ODaniels, when he had to have emergency surgery to remove his spleen. Nate was very caring and talked to both of us when we were in the ER. He explained everything that was going on and needed to be done. Katie was his nurse in ICU,and we couldnt have asked for a more caring, loving nurse, and Nathan in Physical therapy was very helpful and caring. With these 3 people my husbands stay was easier. Thank you all for taking care of him, and making me a feel better about him staying there. Also Dr. McCann, thank you for saving Patrick ODaniels life.

Wonderful nurses and doctors. Awful food, but they probably cant help it, and until the last day, I didnt know if you wanted butter or salt on your vegetables, you had to ask a nurse for it. Great phlebotomist doing daily draws. I have difficult veins at best, and she was a cheerful expert. Cumbersome, time-consuming charting system of questionable effectiveness. No one seemed to know what anyone else had done, or maybe doesnt always bother to look at the computer stuff. (I saw several doctors and various others, who didnt seem aware of what anyone else was doing. I had to repeat my entire history for each one.) But all of the personnel were supreme beings. A nurse named Cindy and a night nurse named Franny, originally from the Dominican Republic, she said, were particularly good, in my view.

Somehow, she turned a serious heart operation into a pleasant experience. I would also like to thank Alan, Becky and the rest of the staff at the hospital. Wasnt too impressed with my ER visit. The nurses were nice and same with the imaging techs. Im just surprised at the lack of concern or tests ran on me last Saturday. I was in a car accident and rolled 3 times going freeway speed and banged my head pretty good. They did no blood work/imaging to check for internal bleeding or even an ice pack for the huge contusion on my head. I had to almost beg to get my glass rash on my body cleaned up.Im sure they are usually amazing and more thorough, but maybe they had a bad morning or something.

The team that schedules, confirms, surgery, and provide pre op instructions was terrible. My doctors office had scheduled a surgery day and time and said EIRMC staff was going to call and confirm with me the day before the procedure. My doctors office told me to call the hospital if I havent heard from them the day before the surgery. At 4:30 the day before the surgery I had not heard from the scheduling team so I called them. They changed the time of the surgery and didnt give me any instructions prior to the surgery.I had to reschedule the surgery to a different day and time again my doctors office told me to expect a call. Im aware my doctors office called the scheduling team and told them about the problems I had with the first surgery. The team from EIRMC called me at 4:57 the day before my surgery with the day and time they did not give me any pre-op instructions like eating or drinking. It was too late to call my doctor after I got off the phone with them.Overall, the staff in pre-op was fine. Unfortunately, they kept getting confused about what the procedure was and gave me different instructions than my doctor. I was very confused on what I was supposed to do for aftercare. I didnt get to talk to my doctor for 3 days and everything that we have been told in post-op differed from what my doctor had wanted me to do. Surgery is expensive, even if you have insurance. Also it is scary, hoping your life goes back to what it was before the injury. It is not helpful when the staff dont communicate and give proper instructions.

The staff and people at the medical center were so friendly and nice which made you feel right at home. My experience overall was not a pleasant one. I could have no food or water 8 hours before the test and I had to get there early to drink something for my test. That went well. My scheduled appointment was at 3:30. At 4:15 I asked how long the delay was going to be and intake person in imaging acted surprised and if I had never checked in. Finally at 4:30 she took me back. After inserting an IV into my arm I asked the nurse what the process was and she said they would be putting iodine into the IV and did I have any issues with Iodine? (something that should have been discussed from the beginning and i did list on my intake form i was allergic to shellfish). After all of that she told me they couldnt do the test and i could come back next week. (it is a two hour drive for me to get to the medical center from where i live.) I left to go outside and call my doctor. At that point he suggested i go ahead and get the test done without the contrast. I went back in. They had to get a new order from him to do the test and waited once again. The actual test took about 5 minutes. I finally was walking out at 6pm to drink some water, eat something and go home. It was not a good experience overall but we did get the CT scan done and the information my doctor needed.

Everyone was very kind and helpful. The only problem was a receptionist was loudly complaining about how she was “so done” with working that day and wanted to leave “forever”. She had helped someone very politely but then as soon as they left she acted like their requests were ridiculous, leaving me thinking her kindness was insincere. The waiting area had patients waiting in various levels of suffering and incapacitation and to hear her acting this way in front of them made me feel so bad for patients who may already feel like a burden. I always think employees anywhere complaining about work or talking aloud about counting down the work hours are doing the customers and the company a disservice. Who wants to be helped by someone who serves you begrudgingly? I hoped my daughter who was being cared for there didn’t notice, I wouldn’t want her to feel like her needs weren’t important. If you’re an overburdened, overwhelmed worker, try to keep it to yourself at least until you are out of earshot of patients or customers!

While there I had my blood drawn and not one but two COVID tests, to which they were both negative. Ended up getting a CT while there. Several hours later I was discharged with a sinus infection. Fast forward a couple weeks, after consulting an optomologist about some vision problems, an MRI was ordered. The doctor that did my MRI was amazing, and kind. Understood my concerns and helped me through the MRI, turns out Im claustrophobic. After getting the MRI results, turns out I had a stroke when I was in the ER a couple weeks prior and I was discharged with a freaking sinus infection. Had it not been for my sudden vision problems and the optomologist, I would have never known I had a stroke. Not impressed with the ER. I never once even since the ER doctor.

I could not be more disappointed in the treatment that we received at EIRMC this evening. My husband was admitted into the hospital this morning after suffering a stroke. He also has heart disease. We have been very upset today with the news of this stroke. We were in his room around 9:00 pm this evening when Andrew Henderson came in and ordered me out. He indicated that visiting hours were over and that I had to leave. I proceeded to share with him my husbands condition, and that he has problems in the night with his breathing, and that I really wanted to stay by his side. He told me that the only way that I could stay is if he was on his death bed. He was very harsh, and had no compassion of any kind. I asked Michael McNutt if there was anything that we could do to allow me to stay with my husband. He told me that Andrew makes the rules and that I would have to leave. I left in tears, my husband called in tears. This was not what we had expected from a hospital that advertises their high quality patient care. This was anything but high quality care. We have many choices for health care options. I will be very diligent in making sure that others do not have to witness or experience what we did tonight. These men have no business being in a facility where compassion and care is so essential. I can only hope that they have to walk in my shoes someday.
