They generally treated me well, but there is typically a long delay to actually sending out my prescriptions, and as of my latest appointment over a month ago I still have only gotten one out of three of my HRT prescriptions even sent to the pharmacy.Theyve also been ignoring my attempts to make appointments for bloodwork and HRT refills for about a year now.

I love it here! I’ve had nothing but wonderful experiences the staff, nurses and doctors are EXCELLENT! They are all so kind and caring individuals. I get a check up every three months for my testosterone prescription! I’ve always been well cared for and I have never had an issue! Megan E is an incredible health care professional! And I love the nurse Val! Please go here if you want gender affirming care!

Great experience from the initial phone call to schedule. Nova was such a warm and helpful person - it made me so excited to meet the rest of the team. When I arrived for my first appointment, I was overwhelmed by the affirming office decor and the personal touches. I have never felt so safe in a doctor office. Everyone Ive worked with has been so thorough; I felt heard and attended to. This is important for me, as someone who has had negative, invalidating, and confusing encounters with providers in the past. Would give 5 stars but I was frustrated that I was told there was no charge up front and then received a bill for over $1,000 with no breakdown - it would be helpful to understand what/how much I am consenting to paying for, prior to receiving services.Thank you!

I am not only a patient at the Center for Transgender Care I am also an original member of the CAB when the Center opened. It was very apparent from the first year the Center filled a much needed void in transgender and gender expansive health care on Long Island. The Center exceeded the expectations of Northwell by four times the number they were hoping for and its still growing each and every year. The Center is here, thankfully, to help identifying individuals and their families navigate a myriad of steps in order to begin their journey and progress with their transition. I think what some people may forget is the time it takes to get all the approvals from insurance companies in order to start their health care journey. When i had a transition related surgery done it took months for the insurance to finally approve the procedure. If it wasnt for the diligence and determination of the staff of both the Center and the providers office I would never had gotten my surgery approved. Wait times, delays, denials, are inherent issues of all health care systems. I can say this about the Center you are seen by providers much faster than those in NYC. I am a board member and facilitator for PFlag LI, a role model for TGNC youth both in NYC and LI schools and an advocate for health care for the TGNC community and speak yearly at Stony Brook Medical School on our behalf. I have and will continue to recommend the Center for Transgender and Gender Non Conforming Care to those in need of a health system that will help one navigate their journey.n

My experience with this center was facile. I was a patient of the NYC health system for the longest time. The commute was draining and the cost adds up eventually. When I heard this place offered trans care , especially in LI, I, like many of my other trans sisters jumped on the bandwagon. I am happy with my experience so far and all the doctors they’ve connected me with are affirming and proficient.

Im a 34 yro trans male. Ive been a patient with Northwell for 2 years now, after going to the city for over a decade in order to access basic health care. Back in 2008 I had to fly across the county to access top surgery, which at the time was not at all covered under insurances. This same surgery is now available at Northwell! Thats amazing! Last year I had another gender-affirming surgery and this time it was through Northwell-- I would not have had access to this surgery without Northwell (I actively waited 13 years for it). I had a great experience with caring providers, and I got to recover at home after leaving the hospital. The Centers Care Navigator helped me with getting my insurance coverage. Im also getting a much better level of care from Endocrinology and managing my HRT. Im really grateful for Trans care on Long Island. I participate in the Community Advisory Board which is an opportunity available for all to provide feeback and help develop services-- I encourage you to use your voice to help expand and support needed healthcare servcies for our community. Weve come such a long way over the years! Its not an easy process to go through any stage of transition, but having the Northwell Health team means you have genuinely caring providers who are experts in their respective fields.

Gatekeeper system under the guise of “expertise.” Jump through hoops while they charge you to see one doctor after the other. Staff doesn’t know how to support clients. Main doc is nice but isn’t an expert. Main psych pathologizes clients. Had two trans affirming surgeries done where they butchered their patients!!! STAY AWAY! Get your hormones from Planned Parenthood in Smithtown or Community Healthcare in Queens. Get your surgeries done at Mt Sinai. STAY AWAY!!!!

Very disappointed. Over the phone they said very different then what happened in the office. Wasted my time. Not straight forward or honest with what they say. The front desk said that I would be prescribed for hormones after I get a letter of support. Then I go in for an appointment and they say something totally different.

I was completely disappointed after I met the psychologist or psychiatrist. However Dr. Rosenthol was sweet and informative. The psych. Dr. left a BAD taste and destroyed my 3 hour appointment.

The staff was wonderful, particularly staff member Nova. Caring and respect for the patient/client seem the bedrock upon which the program rests. Fears melted away almost immediately
