Planned Parenthood - Sarasota Health Center

I was referred to Planned Parenthood by my insurance.Firstly, be aware there are pro-life protesters hanging around outside harassing patients or anyone who goes in/out of the building. These people are annoying & ignorant, definitely NOT Christians. Something needs to be done to stop their harassment!I was there for a much-needed biopsy, which went very well. At my request, I was medicated since from experience its very painful (something an idiot primary care doctor did on me crudely without medication - he clearly had no business doing this. I left him due to his neglect & reported him). The nurses & assistants were wonderful while I waited & even waited outside with me for my ride for my safety.However, I honestly didnt like that they didnt call nor explain to me any lab results. Eventually, I was instructed to go to a gynecologist elsewhere. The nurse who did my pap smear was incompetent.My experience was a mix of good & bad. Id go back if I have nowhere else to go to. BUT THOSE PROTESTERS NEED TO BE BANNED. I even explained to one I was there for a biopsy. She gave me a sermon assuming I was there for an abortion. When I had to go in, she was shocked.I have only Medicaid & Im diagnosed with various conditions. Im not on disability but cant work. Its places like Planned Parenthood that allows me to get the much needed help I wouldnt get otherwise.

I’ve seen reviews about the protestors on here. They are way worse at the fort myers location and it’s their right to protest (sorry to say), so put your big girl/boy pants on and walk past them.Besides that, my experience was great. Keeanna was very helpful when I began to become overwhelmed and nearly passed out. Staff was faster than the fort myers location and were all very respectful, even the male doctor, Dr. Slackman. Mia did my follow up appointment. She was amazing and very kind.

I had a visit earlier this week and the staff were very nice and very professional.There was a little mix up with payment to no fault of the staff (card readers suck) and they did what they could to rectify the situation. I very much appreciate the two ladies working up front at the desk on 1/23 and I felt very bad about the situation and was ultimately just stressed out as a whole, but they very much tried to help.In such a stressful time for me all the staff were very reassuring, supportive, and answered all of my questions.I also appreciate the level of security throughout the building considering there is usually protesters outside but they didnt bother me as I didnt even look in their direction and ignored them.Theyre very thorough and make you feel comfortable. 🙂

Now this place is amazing when it comes to protection and confidentiality and the services I think its because of gov only made it 6 weeks if ur 6 weeks they cannot help you with abortion options even though its up to 6 weeks. Order them online instead the pill

Grateful to have reproductive healthcare that I can afford! I couldn’t be more thankful for this facility & its staff at this location! Appointments are easy to set online or by phone (BE PATIENT & don’t forget to confirm the appointment). The staff are caring & comforting —providing an atmosphere that makes one feel safe & free of judgement. Facility is clean & currently following proper covid-19 protocols for the respect of others & the protection of their employees.

Absolutely recommend! From the moment I arrived until it was time to leave … very nice friendly professional staff loved the way they treated me and made me feel very comfortable! Thank you soooo very much to each and every staff for all your hard work!!!

My appointment was at 2:45 and I was running late and called and they said we give you a 15 minute grace period. They did an amazing job. Desiree was my nurse and she did an excellent job. She even remembered me from my previous appointment from last year. She is so nice and sweet and caring. I love to see they have most of the same people working there including the lady that did my pap. I was so grateful and blessed that someone made a big donation and there was no charge 🙏 I have been using this clinic for years. Great place! Great people. Totally recommend them.

I had a really great experience here ! Allie at the front desk went above and beyond to help me since my insurance is outrageous . I really appreciate when I receive good customer service and Allie made you feel scene and heard . She’s great at her job, give her a raise 😊

I was having a missed miscarriage and no one in this town would help me so I called Planned Parenthood. Let me tell you I am so thankful for these people. I had been suffering for five weeks and these people got me in quickly and gave me the procedure I needed that day which my nerves were a wreck and they made me feel safe and taken care of. Everyone here went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and took such good care of me which I didnt receive from my own doctors office and the several others that just turned me away because of insurance or they just didnt want to help. Even when Covid hit and I couldnt get in to get a lump in my breast checked out because everything was shut down, the nurse called me several times of the next few weeks to try whatever she could to make sure I was taken care of.

They do not care. Extremely unprofessional. From repeatedly collecting my blood incorrectly and making me come in for a new draw 3 times in a row for the same lab(thus preventing me from receiving my medication), to trying to deny my visit because THEY entered my insurance wrong even though Ive been a repeat patient for a while, to ignoring phone calls and voicemails every single time without fail(looking at Maika Toussaint), to directly talking down on me and ignoring my needs. They make getting healthcare borderline inaccessible, and they make it clear they dont want to deal with their patients. Especially those seeking gender affirming care.

Very nice facility and very clean! I was a little nervous going in with this location being in the center of Downtown Sarasota, but I was very pleasantly surprised. Very safe environment from my experience. Very inclusive of all genders and non-binaries. Came in for a Nexplanon removal and it was such a fast and easy process, definitely will be coming back in the future for my birth control needs.

Ive been getting my birth control prescription from PP for the past couple of years. The doctors, nurses, and other employees are always SO kind and I really appreciate all of the work they do. Stand with and support your local Planned Parenthood!

I went for my yearly OB appt and a yearly physical at the Sarasota office. Im in between jobs and without insurance but will still continue to go here when my insurance kicks in. Heres why:#1 Their Covid protocol is fantastic. I felt safe the entire time.#2 Minimal waiting time.#3 The waiting room and individual rooms are clean and well maintained.#4 The staff is polite, sensitive, responsive, kind, and above all LISTENS. I felt that they were there for me and listened to my health concerns for both appointments. KRYSTAL IS AMAZING!! She is the sweetest, most kindest, and thorough nurse I have come across.#5 This place is a safe space for women dealing with any health issues both mental and physical. You will be treated with kindness and respect which most doctors offices do not.

Today was my first time visiting their facility. Great staff who were extremely comforting and knowledgable to the many questions I had regarding my visit. They take extra care as to providing a clean and welcoming environment for their patients. I appreciate that they turned my wristband inside out to ensure patient confidentiality. Very professional, highly recommend!

Wait times are pretty standard for any health clinic, meaning not great, but thats to be expected.The staff are very welcoming, and very helpful. They are very understanding when it comes to privacy. I have been to many health clinics and I must say this is one of the most pleasant.For those who are transgender I highly recommend this place. My previous hormone doctor was very heasitent to do anything with transgender stuff, while Planned Parenthood took care of me without any issue whatsoever.

I had an amazing experience with Planned Parenthood of Sarasota. I have always supported PP from afar because I supported their cause- now after going I support them even more and will make regular donations! Even though they werent able to help me that day (Due to my own personal reasons out of their control) they still did everything in their power to answer all my questions and guide me in the right direction. The office was secure and clean, and the staff was absolutely amazing!

I can not say enough about the amazing staff and facility in Sarasota.They are a great place to go for many things.People tend to forget that planned parenthood also has yearly exams, birth control and many other things we need.The staff is some of the most amazing people I have ever met at any office.I highly recommend them.Super clean,very professional and very friendly.

Very accommodating, 100% caring. I have severe anxiety with anything medical, especially a procedure, and they were there for me the whole time my new implant was installed. 13/5 would recommend. ESPECIALLY Michelle and Sasha(?).

Hands down the nicest Planned Parenthood I have ever been to in my life. The staff and providers were amazing, so kind, gentle and informative. I had my IUD removed and they made the entire process as easy and painless as possible. Can’t recommend this location enough. Planned Parenthood is such a life saver y’all!

Friendly staff and nice facility. Downfall, no one answers the phone after waiting for more than 30 mins, or replies to any messages using patient portal. They do have grants if you are self pay, which will help reduce the cost of your visit.

Receptionist staff was very rude and untrained. Got my birth control implant in my arm in Michigan and it was due to be taken out. When I moved down here I decided to get it out. Wrong, should of got it done in Michigan where everyone was professional and nice. All I got was short answers and being ignored by them having conversations, and faces in there cellphones. The only thing I liked was the doctor who did the removal. Fantastic lady and very nice and professional. Wish she had a better office staff because they do not represent her very well. I won’t return to this office because of the unpleasant, unprofessional, and desrespectful office ladies. Good luck to the doctor!

I’ve been going to Planned Parenthood for a few years now and I love everything about it. The staff is wonderful and friendly towards every person who walks through the main doors. Even with insurance, I drive over 30 miles to get my yearly appointment done. Everyone is so helpful with any questions I have and it’s wonderful to support any government program that is inclusive and proud.

My husband lost his job and therefore our insurance due to Covid. I needed an exam as I am high risk but was a little nervous about going to a “low cost” clinic. I could have not been more impressed with this experience, honestly it was ten times better than the doctors I have seen with full healthcare. Michelle, Allister and the rest of the staff were SO sensitive, compassionate and professional. I can’t remember all the names of the other staff who were there that day but everyone gets an A+ from me! Thankful for this organization and all you do.

As soon as I walk in Im greeted with smiles and hellos. The staff here are all so friendly and can answer many questions and concerns that I could be having. I am transgender and go by a preferred name and they have no problems with calling me by it. Its a great feeling to be accepted and fit in and Plan Parenthood makes that happen!

Awesome experience from start to finish! Ive trusted PPSWCF with my birth control needs for almost three years now. Easy to schedule appointments online or over the phone, and the Telehealth visits Ive had are user-friendly and an easier way for me to manage my healthcare. I am so glad to have this amazing resource in my area! Huge shout out to all the staff, doctors and nurses at the Sarasota office!

Planned Parenthood has always provided me with excellent healthcare - this location is no different. The staff was warm and genuine and compassionate - and always has been, for all and anything related to my reproductive health. Other healthcare providers in different types of medicine need to take a page out of their book.

The staff was awesome! Ive never had a visit like this at my primary care office. Theyre all very kind, and theyre fun to be around. The procedure I had was super painful but the staff made it worthwhile.

They are very helpful and will provide assistance no matter what you need. The only problem is that there might be protestors outside but that is not their fault. Just hold your head high and ignore them. You can also use their parking lot in the back where they wont be able to walk up to you. Just dont be fooled by people standing outside the fence with clipboards, they are NOT with Planned Parenthood.

I appreciate the entity for offering transgender services but the fact that my Doctor changes every time i have an appointment is unsettling. In my most recent appointment my Doctor was present but absent in mind because she knew nothing about me. The only question she asked was if I had any questions. She sent my prescription to the pharmacy and it was wrong. She did a really sloppy job for this to be her career. I always saw Michelle Tarte and now i have to deal with this lousy Flo character. In what practice does your Doctor constantly change?

The staff was informative, understanding, and extremely helpful. My partner was provided a clean, professional environment during her simple procedure. The annoying protestors arent allowed in the main parking area, and an attendant was able to keep her clear from harassment. All the political vitriol about this place is BS.

Beautiful, clean and modern facility, and staff were above and beyond nice and welcoming. I went for BC since my regular doc couldn’t fit me in for over a month. Scheduling with PP was a breeze. Excellent experience!

Wonderful experience here! I came in to get an abortion & they treated me very kindly, explained everything well, made the whole thing painless, and even gave me birth control after! Oh & they gave my snacks afterwards. I felt totally comfortable here & I highly recommend them.Everyone working here is so kind & helpful!

SO thankful for the many services they provide. Overall, a great and important organization in regards to health care. A safe, inclusive place to receive medical attention and the staff is supportive and kind. Glad there is one here in Sarasota County.

Everyone here is very friendly, sometimes it can be slow to be seen by a doctor, but they are doing their best. Im really thankful I can go here even though it is far from my place because the services are way more affordable than in my area. I feel safe and secure here as well, despite the occasional anti-choicer outside the facility.

I appreciate the facility for the services it provides and is affordable, but everytime I visit to pick up a prescription, their wait times are ridiculously long. Even when Ive called ahead. Their pick up room for said prescriptions, when I hit the call button and wait 20 mins before ever being addressed. I dont visit here for appointments anymore because the wait times are an hour plus past my scheduled times.

Great, friendly service! My appointment time was 12:40 and i was in the exam room within 10 minutes. Planned parenthood makes things very easy and convenient.

Jasmine at the front desk talked me off a ledge and saved me. She went above and beyond to make sure I was seen that day and I cant thank her enough. And the rest of the staff was friendly and helpful as well. Thank you!

I drove an hour and a half to come to this location to get a new birth control implant taken out and put in. I was late for my appointment, and even though I CALLED in advance to tell them I would be late, (because of an accident on the highway) I waited almost 2 hours just for them to tell me I have to rescedule for Monday and come all the way back!!!! I watched countless patients go before me and felt as though no effort was made for me to be worked in. For a 15 MINUTE procedure!! The staff made 0 effort to work me in. They are obviously oversceduled and overworked if they are incapable to handle a minor issue like this, incompetentencey at its finest.

Much easier to make a appointment then the health clinic. Much more privacy, and the staff is great and experienced. Also it wasnt like she was just dealing with a sick person before seeing me.

I had scheduled an appointment for today October 12th at 11:20 for a nexplanon removal. They said they would call to confirm the appointment they dont do emails. I called this morning to confirm the appointment because they failed to do so they asked my birthday last name and said it was at 11:20. I show up its closed no one is there! I had to take time off of work to make it to this appointment. I called and she was like Oh! The Sarasota campus is closed today your appointment is tommarow the 13th. Im a good 6 months past the expiration date and I need this thing out of my body NOW. I requested the day off immediately when I first scheduled the appointment and noooooooo they just move it, then treat me stupid by saying itps been that way all along! Im highly displeased with the receptionist and her rude disorganized I can do no wrong bitchy attitude.

The staff here from entrance to exit made me feel very comfortable. Michelle, the NP did my IDU and explained step by step what she was doing making my experience fast and effective.

My girlfriend went in for an appointment and the doctor (Michelle Tarte) told her that she looked fine even though it was an internal issue. We drove 50 minutes there and back for nothing but a referral to another doctor.

I went in for my HRT intake appointment and the staff was super friendly and respectful of my pronouns and my situation. They were quick about everything and explained everything very well, and i left understanding everything.

Literally do not pick up the phone. They canceled my appointment that I made online claiming that they didn’t take my insurance when I have visited this office before with the same insurance. So annoying.

15 minutes before my appointment arrived. 2 hour wait after scheduled me for next Friday after thefollow up.If you have time sitting and watching tv in their office, this is a good place for it, but if You go there to take care of your problems, go to different place.

Very poorly run. Appointments out 3 weeks for a vaccine appointment. I would not recommend funding such a poorly run organization.

They literally do not answer the phone. i’ve called on multiple different occasions and sat on hold for over 20 minutes. i just want my medication and i’m not sure how to get that other than them answering!! pretty upset.

If you want to be charged the same as a regular obgyn and be treated like a number and paycheck then come here. Horrible experiences every time. Maybe if you don’t need actual help going here is fine.

The service is bad, I waited an hour after my appointment even though there was no one in the waiting room. They don’t answer their phones. There’s creepy men outside and I’m only 16 and I have to go around back alone.
