Powers Family Medicine - Dr William J Powers DO

I tried to become a new patient at this practice last year. They warned me ahead of time that arriving late could mean being rescheduled. Because of a car accident that held up traffic, I arrived 1 minute past the cut-off time (according to their clock; mine indicated I was on time) and was told I had to reschedule. No one asked what happened or tried to accommodate. When I asked whether I could still be seen, I was told that the doctor was too busy. The doctor was literally standing ten feet behind the person talking to me and throwing a ball to a cat. It was an utterly absurd thing to have happening in the background of this conversation.I’m sure Dr. Powers will respond to my review, as with other 1-star reviews. Still, I think it’s worth leaving my review. I understand that rescheduling is an office policy, but the approach feels like it lacks empathy—and it’s really bizarre to have scenes like this playing out during these conversations.EDIT: What an incredibly wild and quick response to my review, from the hyperbole to the ad hominem. I literally just posted and Dr. Powers has already written back. Perhaps the doctor uses the spare appointment time after turning away patients to respond to Google reviews.I have never had an experience like this. Talk about narcissism

Dr. Powers is one of the best doctors around. I followed him from another office! I travel 2 freeways and 45 mins from my home in Clinton Twp to his office in Farmington Hills bc I want to be treated by him he is respectful, he actually listens when you speak to him and hell go out of his way to help in a crisis! During the pandemic in 2020 he took on all of my care and found a pharmacy that would deliver bc everyone just stopped working! Ill say this about Dr. Powers hes more than just a doctor to me hes a friend! Thank you Will for all you do for me!

Dr. Powers has literally massively changed my life for the positive more than once. He actually listens. He picked up on a quirk in my bloodwork, had me order an over the counter vitamin (that he isn’t compensated for) that gave me almost double the energy I had before. The additional energy most importantly allowed me to be more present for my wife and children. I will always be thankful that I found him.

Ive followed the work of Dr. Powers for almost 5 years, since early in medical transition, and using it as a guideline with other Drs until eventually becoming an out-of-state patient. Id call mine a success, easily. I also have been aware of his reputation for weeding out rare disorders, and he managed to do that for me on the first go, which was life changing for me. Ive dealt with worsening chronic pain that nearly disabled me completely for 8+ years, Ive been to countless specialists, appointments, procedures, just to have nothing ever be discovered other than some vitamin deficiencies. This isnt to mention the tens of thousands of dollars in lost income, supplements, out-of-pocket costs, etc that dealing with my condition has caused. Im experiencing pain-free days on occasion now, and drastically reduced most days after 2 weeks of treatment.Ive had some Drs be iffy of his work before, but I believe it was simply biased based on his specialties/degrees and his eccentric character; this man knows what hes doing and WILL take the time to get to the root of any problem; hes a great example of how medical care should be.Dr. Niewolak is fantastic as well and has been an absolute pleasure to work with. Im thankful every day for all these folks here do, especially with the current political climate over transgender health care.

Dr. Powers solved the riddle that is my energy issues. After a lifetime of trying to get answers, he listened and had so many ideas to help. The office environment is fun and positive as well. Im glad I moved to this practice for my primary care!

Positives- Extremely smart doctor who knows a ton. If you have a special need he might be the doctor for you.- Friendly office environment.Negatives- Getting ahold of staff for appointments or questions was a nightmare. Would send messages through the portal and no one would respond for a week. I would also try calling and the phone was either down or left a message which was never responded to.- The office policy changes are shared through Facebook. I don’t have Facebook but significant other does so he would tell me the changes. I feel if policy changes should be done through email as we all don’t have social media.- I was given three referrals for back pain and two of them were hand specialists and nothing to do with the back. I would expect my doctor to give me a good referral for the issue I was having.- The billing was a nightmare. I had a physical done which is covered 100% by my insurance but twice they sent me a bill for $200 for this physical. Both times they waived it realizing it was a mistake but it took tons of effort to get this done with multiple phones calls and messages through the portal.- Doctor Powers inability to take criticism. It seems every negative review he rants and raves and argues with the person which in my opinion is unprofessional. He should realize he will never have all 5 stars because no practice is perfect. He should also try to learn and maybe change based on criticism received.These are just my experiences with Powers family medicine. His practice is not for me but might be for other people.

Not sure how much visibility this will get but just fyi Dr. Powers does not take Blue Care Network insurance even though the BCN website shows the office as in-network. I called to verify this and the staff was very friendly about it and was apologetic and explained theyve been trying to get it resolved. I guess I will have to search for another highly reviewed PCP in my area :(

I love Dr. Powers because he’s knowledgeable and finds out WHY/ THE ROOT OF the problem (if he can’t, he might know someone that does). His mind is unique, he’s hilarious, and makes you feel comfortable speaking with him about your medical concerns. He’s also transparent and I think those are very important qualities to have in someone you’re trusting with your body . Give him and his practice a chance! I’m truly glad I did. Thanks Dr. Powers!

Dr Powers and his entire staff are courteous, helpful and welcoming. It’s amazing to have a doctor that actually listens to the patient and explains things if you don’t understand. So grateful especially after having been through multiple doctors, I now drive 10 hours one way for an appointment and wouldn’t ever trade out for a doctor closer!!

Dr. Powers and his staff provide incredible care. As a transgender woman, it’s very hard to find this anywhere else. Dr. Powers and his staff treat patients with a combination of exceptional expertise, kindness, empathy, and visible passion to improve the lives of those in our underserved community.During my treatment, Dr. Powers was able to make my hormone intervention much more effective by looking at more variables than other providers (and especially those who don’t specialize in trans care). I have repeatedly sent friends to his practice, all of whom have been very happy with their results.On a personal note, during my visits with Dr. Powers I was very impressed with his sincerity, and enthusiasm for his practice. He also had a tendency to ask clarifying questions and was much more interactive than other providers I’ve had in the past.I know that PFM often has a wait list, but I encourage anyone seeking care, especially transgender care, to take the time to sign up.

The most caring, personal and thorough doctor you will ever have. You will not find a better doctor in the United States. I’ve been with him for several years and moved several times, and I will never switch doctors as long as he is in practice. His staff creates a comfortable environment and he always goes above and beyond. Thanks for doing what you do!

Really wanted to be a new pt here but the communication is awful. I contacted fhen initially on Tuesday to schedule an appointment. No one got back to me until Friday evening in an email with an appointment time I couldnt do.I tried contacting all Monday and Tuesday morning and of course, nothing. Tuesday evening I get an email saying there isnt any other times (of course!) Despite me calling and leaving messages for almost a week. I decided to go to another pcp and do my affirming care with planned parenthood.Really need you guys to reach out and CALL your patients during business hours so things can be rectified. And how come no one called to discuss the appointment date and time with me? Stressful.

This place is the worst. After being recommended by a family member that is treated here I had nothing but issues getting scheduled.Then when I was finally given appointment, weeks out, the day before I got a call that it was cancelled for some Bureaucratic reason relating to a designated pcp provider. It would take days to update said the person who cancelled on me.I called my insurance and was able to update it same day.When I called back and explained that I have some medical issues that I need addressed they were able to schedule my appointment again. Thankfully. 10 minutes later I get a call back from a rude employee there that let me know that my appointment would have to be cancelled again because the provider had to go home and they might be able to get me in next week.When I expressed my concerns for the offices reliability the employee then got rude and started yelling at me over the phone about how the provider has medical issues… so do I.All in all this place seems to prioritize an appearance of “Fun” over making sure people are taken care of. My advice is to find a practice that keeps your appointments and allows you to see the doctor you are designated to.If you want to be cancelled on and reprimanded by a stranger who is literally canceling your access medical care this is the place for you.

One of the best Doctors Ive ever had (which I know sounds like a carbon copy of everyone else here but damn if it aint true). Ive been going to this practice for 3+ years now and Dr. Powers and his team have helped me out when Ive been at the end of my rope with medical providers numerous times. Not only is the office very warm and friendly, the staff goes above and beyond to not only be proactive in their treatment plan but also explain every step of the process to you so it makes sense. When other doctors have refused to try something different despite issues persisting or tossed their hands up with no idea what to do. Powers and the team will work with you to get you the best possible outcome for you. He fixed my Hormone levels 3 years ago and now hes helping fix my surgery after my Vaginoplasty surgeons aftercare instructions caused things to take a turn for the worst. Im so lucky theyve got the experience they do because of the nature of their practice. You just dont see a lot of places with this level of attention to detail even with the small things.Thank you guys! keep up the good work.

Dr Powers is quite literally the best doctor out there. His whole staff is amazing and so willing to look outside of the obvious. My whole live I’ve had my issues written off as anxiety. And for the first time in my life I actually have doctors office that listens and doesn’t just look at my blood work and go Ope you’re fine, you just have anxiety. Dr Powers kindness and compassion even when faced with his own heartache and struggles cannot be matched, and he deserves all the recognition in the world for that and for making an office centered around that and full of like minded individuals 🖤

Ive been at the practice since ~2020 and have loved seeing Dayna every single time. Shes very thorough, sweet, and you can tell she genuinely cares about each and every patient she sees. She doesnt just go in and out, she takes her time talking to you about your problems with precise solutions and a little candid conversation about personal things! Ive recommended this office to plenty of my peers who have the same anxiety about doctors as me and I would do it all over again!

What more can you say about a doctor that lets you play Super Castlevania in a Zelda-themed exam room while you wait to see a super kind and caring doctor who explains things clearly and compassionately? Oh, and they have amazing cats roaming around the office. Best experience Ive had in medicine in my whole life and I look forward to relying on them regularly for my care.

Dr Powers knows things most of the doctors Ive seen wouldn’t take the time to think about. He has found solutions to situations previous doctors shrugged off. I am so lucky to be a patient here. The staff is kind and professional, and I feel safe around Dr Powers talking about sensitive matters with my life and body.

Dr Powers is one the best Doctors I have ever had in my life he goes over and beyond to make sure you are taken care of. He will always do his best to figure out what is causing your health problem .in the past the other doctors I have seen do the bare minimum. But him and his practice will always take care of you. I have been going here for almost over 4 years now. You wont be disappointed .

I love this office! I have seen a few different providers at other offices and have had bad experiences which is why I moved to Dr. Powers office. This man literally saved my life!!! Dr. Powers never gave up in trying to find out what was wrong with me. After 2 ER visits with full work ups and no diagnosis besides possibly a panic attack I came to Powers. In his very methodical way dr Powers deduced my condition to a possible but unlikely result and after ordering a few tests he found a mass in my kidney all the other drs and tests did not find. Thanks to his perseverance he got me to the right surgeon in a quick time frame to have it removed and gave me a new lease on life. Every other dr. I have seen since Powers asked me the same question “How was this found?” They were all truly shocked dr Powers found it. Now I am able to spend a full life with friends and family. This man is not just a Dr. but my personal hero and I would recommend Powers Family Medicine to anyone looking for a Dr. and staff that truly cares about their patients.

I’ve been with this practice for 3+ years now. The last thing you have to do is worry while dealing with this practice. They are extremely helpful and efficient. You want stuff and a doctor that actually cares? That believes you when something just doesn’t feel right but no other doctors or staff take the second to listen to you. Then you found them!! I’m thankful I did also, I no longer procrastinate calling to make an appointment, sending emails, or dreading going in for my appointment. They are all irreplaceable!

Dr. Powers himself is very smart and knowledgeable, as well as Dayna. Unfortunately, his office staff is rude and lacks proper communication and he refuses to believe this based on his comments on other reviews. Instead of calling the patient to reschedule an appointment because Dr. Powers is out ill, they email back and forth trying to reschedule. No other office I have ever been to does that. Is it really that hard to pick up a phone and make a five minute phone call? They have emailed me information based on another patients history, and have sent me references that have nothing to do with my problems. Then when I contact these references, they state they don’t even specialize in that area, so I’m made a fool by this office staff of his. The rants online about patients and what they have done at the practice is unprofessional (showing up late, behind on payments).

As someone who gets incredibly anxious going to doctors offices whether it be because I know Ill be misgendered, dead named, or even just the atmosphere, all of my tensions eased the second I got up to the waiting room. With games including a pachinko machine and incredibly friendly staff to greet me it all felt so welcoming.Now getting down to business was even better! They were quick, reliable, and honest the entire time I was there. I had all my questions answered regarding my transition at this point in the most straightforward way which blew any other provider I had away in one fell swoop. I even learned things about what I was already taking medication wise that places like Planned Parenthood failed to mention.I highly recommend this place whether it be for transition reasons or even just primary care. Everyone is incredibly accommodating no matter the issue and I finally feel comfortable at a doctors office for once. Oh and shout out to Sommer for being AMAZING!

I have a very severe genetic condition of extremely elevated lipoprotein -a ( LP) a thats puts me at a very high risk for premature cardiovascular disease and stroke. There are not enough words to express my gratitude for Dr William Powers and his staff for safely and fully helping me transition to be my most authentic self. My previous HRT regimen left me extremely dysphoric and half transitioned. I feel much safer and blend ( pass) completely now. He has also gone above and beyond to assist me and my other Drs in my unfortunate circumstance regarding my LP(a) and other genetic factors that I am predisposed to. I have been through hell and back with misdiagnose, over diagnosis and under diagnosis. I also practice medicine and have zero tolerance for Drs who treat you like a number, only practice for financial reasons, or ones that half shot your care. He takes my well being as serious as I do. I am very lucky to have found him. If you are part of the community or medical community and have any question regarding his care feel free to reach out to me.

This place has been everything my husband has hoped for. Im not the patient, but I attend many of my husbands appointments. His HRT is progressing amazingly and hes finally feeling more comfortable in his skin. Best part, its not just an HRT doctor. They also just do family practice. My husband has been fighting his previous doctor for even basic care, and Powers office has done everything, including addressing the chronic migraines that his doc has ignored at the other practice.I dont get the negative reviews. The office is clean, staff is friendly, and the themed rooms are epic. There is a switch to okay in the room while waiting, and Fenrir is the coolest cat on the planet. We met him the first day there and eased the nerves of starting this adventure so much. Yes, it may be hard to get an appointment, but the practice is also treating many many other people. They are a popular place for the community to turn to, so of course they are going to be a little busy.

Dayna is an absolute gem, never have I had a PCP (or anyone in a medical profession, for that matter) be so willing to tailor treatment to me, so open to hearing my concerns, and so friendly.She almost literally bends over backwards to make a treatment more bearable in any capacity. I am absolutely a patient for life.Thank you for everything Dayna, and I look forward to continuing to be your patient! ^.^

I love Dayna but trying to get anybody in the front office to do anything is a horrendous disaster. I have been trying to get one prescription filled since February 6th. I finally had to go to the office and pick up a paper copy of the prescription and take it over to the pharmacy on March 12th. Quite a frustrating experience, not my first one here and Im sure it wont be my last.

My eleven year-old son started seeing Dr. Powers at Powers Family Medicine five months ago and we’ve been absolutely blown away by the quality of care he has received. He’s been a bit of an enigma up until this point in regards to treatment and has developed a distrust of medical providers due to past experiences. That has quickly changed thanks to Dr. Powers, his wonderful staff and their unique practice! He’s beginning to flourish now thanks to the spot-on treatment and quite honestly considers Dr. Powers a mentor for reasons I won’t go into here. If you’re looking for a team that truly cares for and respects their patients, PFM will not disappoint! As mentioned, we’re still new to the office, but for once I look forward to scheduling appointments/reaching out for advice vs. it being a chore/drama-filled endeavor. I look forward to many more years of care at this office and am excited to see it and the Powers Family grow!

The office manager here is absolutely unprofessional and was extremely rude. Completely appalled at how she handles speaking to others, especially toward other doctor office staff. Called the office to have the correct referral sent to another office after receiving the incorrect one prior to a patient visit. She had been evading our numerous attempts since last April when all we needed was her to correct a referral that was already previously sent. I hope Dr. Powell knows how awful she treats others. Will not be recommending others to this doctor office.

I’m providing a 4 star review but ONLY because of the email/phone situation. Otherwise, it would be a solid 5! It pains me to not be able to pick up the phone and connect with a human being. It pains me to write emails using their system and waiting for a response (yes, I fully understand my need for immediate gratification is on me…but it goes beyond a 48hr period at times too). I’ve received responses that sometimes address the issues I wrote about or responses that have nothing to do with my actual question (one response was several weeks delayed and was conflicting info from the sufficient response I received weeks prior). It just appears, from this patients perspective, to be disorganized at times and that can be frustrating. I am still trying to get clarification on some scripts from a while back and I’ve wasted time emailing/ waiting for a response/ and waiting again. I genuinely like the care I receive here, but wish this particular process could improve.EDIT/UPDATE: Thank you Dr. Powers for personally reaching out and validating my concerns. Since writing this review the portal/office communication has improved 10-fold. It pained me to even knock off one star originally because I KNOW HOW HARD YOU/YOUR STAFF WORKS FOR THE PATIENTS! I hope you realize the acts of kindness you show the world don’t go unnoticed…although it may feel that way more times than not. Coming back into your practice/ care was the best thing for me personally. I don’t think any previous PCP has ever made me feel as welcomed and comfortable as you and your team has. I love your raw honesty and that you are an open book! Infinite thank you’s, Dr. Powers!

Dr Powers stands out among all other doctors! all the other 5 star reviews say it all and more! ive talked to people from around, and Dr Powers is truly unique!i love the emulators in the waiting rooms. i love the bedside manner and care for his patients that Dr Powers has. he is super amazing about responding to his patients needs directly, and he is engaging and receptive to the greater community.

By far the best doctor I’ve ever had. He actually addresses my medical issues instead of just ignoring them like many other doctors in my past. I’ve been through the wringer in health care, and I would trust Dr. Powers with all of my health issues. Very intelligent, very honest & direct (which I greatly appreciate), and always willing to try different approaches to difficult medical issues. As far as hormone therapy goes, he’s been a life saver. His staff is also great. Highly recommend.

I have maybe written an handrail of reviews because it’s hard to impress me :) I am beyond impressed. I can tell you that this is the first physician I can ever remember having that “listens to his patients” and genuinely cares. He has been a godsend for my daughters care and as a result I was like- hey I want a doctor like that and transferred to his care. He is intelligent yet humble and goes out of his way as well as his staff that work with him. I am very fortunate to have found him- the needle in the haystack of physicians. Doctor Powers is a super hero. I cannot recommend this office enough. He has completely transformed my life. Personally, Im very mistrustful of doctors. But I feel like I can tell Dr. Powers anything. Hes up front, blunt, honest, but also compassionate. He tells you the truth, whether its what you want to hear or not. He doesnt sugar coat anything. But I feel so safe, so accepted, from the first day that I walked into that office, nearly three years ago. Because Powers Family Medicine sees me as a human being. And they want not only the best for my health, but also, my happiness, my safety, they want me to thrive. Even when my mental health falters, or I feel like Im facing the impossible, its easy to feel like things will get better, because whatever challenges I face, I have the most amazing doctor on my side to help me overcome it. I seriously cannot express my gratitude enough.

Ive been seeing Doctor Sommer Shefferly here for a few months and shes been good to me. I also like the gaming theme in the office being a gamer myself. +1 for each. Unfortunately I had to find another PCP because the communication with this office is very difficult. They dont have an office phone as all phone calls go to a recorded voicemail. The only choice you have is to send a message through their portal and they take 2 business days to reply back but the issue still not resolved so you have to go back and forth with them for 2 weeks to have something achieved. I tried to get 2 different references for outside specialists because Doctor Sommer could not help me. But no success after texting back and forth for weeks. I had no choice but to go see a specialist without referral from this office because my health condition was worsening and worrisome and needed immediate help. So I had to pay so much more money out of pocket to see a specialist because Im unable use my insurance without referral from my PCP. All this couldve been resolved with 1, JUST ONE phone call !!! 5 mins max instead of wasting weeks and putting my health at risk

Dr. Powers is a fantastic physician. He has done more for me in 8 months than all other doctors I have seen put together. Dr. Powers takes the time to listen and didn’t just hear my previous diagnosis and decide there was nothing he could do. He patiently answers all my questions and has worked tirelessly toward improving my quality of life. I highly recommend Dr. Powers and Powers Family Medicine. His team is also exceptional. Laura, Stacy and Andrea are a joy to work with and I greatly appreciate them all.

There are no words to properly express how phenomenal and caring of a doctor Dr Powers is. He genuinely cares about his patients well-being and will do everything in his power to make sure that you are healthy, physically and mentally. Even if you don’t have a scheduled appointment with him, he is very quick to respond to personal messages and is still giving you the best care and help that he can even without seeing him in person. I’ve never had a doctor that cared as much as him. Even his office staff is super helpful and caring. I feel safe there and I think that’s one of the most important things when being in the care of a doctor. The office cats are pretty dang cute too :)

When I first moved to Michigan, I quickly searched for a physician that provided care for my particular medical needs. I found an article featuring Dr. Powers and his work with providing quality care for LGBT patients. After my first appointment with him, I left with a new sense of being a proactive health consumer. Not only had I scheduled important and life-saving annual screens that I had put off for several years (we all do that), he also made me feel as though I was worth it. In other clinics, Ive seen the looks of judgment, the quick clinical interview, and the lack of relevant focus. Dr. Powers has gone above and beyond, and clearly continues to do so (just take a look around the patient-centered decor and pet the therapy cat) in order to provide the best health care for his patients. He has extensive medical knowledge, as a board-certified physician, and the qualities that make one feel valued. Thank you for what you do. YOU are worth excellent care and that you will have with Dr. Powers.

Dr. Powers is truly an incredible doctor and human being! He truly cares about all his patients and that shows in the way he treats us all. He doesnt sugar coat anything and will tell you just how it is followed by exactly what he will do to help you with it together. He literally will tell you exactly how it is, so he is blunt and honest. One of the most honest doctors Ive ever met by far. He really listens and puts in the time with his patients. He is the best doctor Ive ever seen probably in the world. He is extremely knowledgeable and is involved with the LGBTQ community. The staff is also extremely friendly and helpful. Trust me once you step into his office you will feel like home. I could not recommend any doctor more than him. I could keep going on about all the things I love about him but just see for yourself. When I moved to Michigan I needed to find a new doctor. After searching, I came across Powers Family Medicine. Reading his power-points on the Powers Method and all of the glowing patient reviews, I knew I needed to schedule an appointment -- I felt like my current care wasnt good enough.Fast forward to a month after my first appointment with Dr. Powers and Ive had more results from the Powers Method of HRT than I have had in the eight months prior. I feel amazing, like everything is falling into place.Dr. Powers is an amazing human being that genuinely cares for his patients success and well being -- you wont feel like a statistic. He is the first doctor I would recommend for anyone that seeks to transition.

I personally love this whole office and staff! They are so welcoming to any belief and situation life throws at you and accommodates well within a timely manor! This office and staff has helped me through my darkest days and I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel! Dr Powers is a treasure to the local and global trans community. His knowledge and dedication are second to none. He has treated me for over two years, on a variety of issues ranging from anemia to mental health to osteopathic manipulative therapy. He takes all the time you need to answer any questions you have, and is genuinely passionate about helping others. His staff are also professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. The therapy cats are always friendly and happy to be pet and meet new people as well.The only doctor I will see.

Dr Powers has restored my faith in the medical process. I feel confident with him as my primary care, so much so that my whole family is now under his care. After 4 and a half years of misdiagnosis and thousands of dollars wasted with no diagnosis, I have found answers. Dr Powers is the reason. His attention to detail and willingness to actually listen to his patients and apply his knowledge, I can now have peace of mind knowing that I am in the care of someone who fights with me and not against me. He is by far what every physician should aspire to be if they are truly looking out for the best interest of their patient’s health and well being.

The best doctor I have ever been to by far. I gave a 5 star rating because there wasnt an option for more stars. Dr. Powers and his staff make privacy a priority from the moment you walk in the door. You only have to give your initials, never your full name. He takes the time to listen to his patients, answer their questions and educate them, all while being on schedule for appointments. Hes a doctor who works hard to provide the best possible care for his patients, in a welcoming and judgement free environment. I drive over 2 hours to see Dr. Powers. This should speak for itself, that with so many doctors closer to me, I choose Dr. Powers.

Dr. Powers is the most kind and understanding doctor Ive ever met. Hes made me feel like I actually matter as a patient and am not just another source of money. His office staff are so kind. The waiting room is always entertaining. If you love cats, video games, and being cared for, go see Dr. Powers.

Dr. Powers has a big heart for his patients and takes good care of them. I have been seeing him for over a year and no complaints. I was apprehensive about going to a new doctor at first because of bad experiences in the past with them not investing my problems, or just wanting to cover them up with pills and not actually help me. Dr. Powers always goes through all possible options and makes sure you are comfortable with them. I appreciate his care and would highly recommend him to anyone.

He is the best doctor that I have ever gone to. He is extremely nice and caring. This goes for the staff as well. I never worry about being judged or treated poorly while in for a visit. The cats are a plus and help with nervousness. I could not ask for a better doctor. He is definitely the person to go see. Dr. Powers is trans inclusive too by the way!!

The practice is a mess, Melisa, the front desk dropped the ball 2 years in a row, submitting bad codes to the insurance company and making me pay for preventive work. When I called they said that my bill is not high and I should pay it!!! LOL what kind of service is that, I guess I m not the only one that is complaining about the front desks lack of respect and professionalism.Dr Dayna is great and I recommend her, but the practice lost a customer because of the front desk...Furthermore, they work with Quest diagnostics for their blood test and they are as bad as well.Issues with codes and bills and rude staff ...Good Luck with the front desk to anyone that goes there!Response to the owner: I am truly sorry that the doctors in your practice are associated with this review, but the fact is that the front of the house has a rotten apple that is ruining your good reputation. The woman that answered the call, when my insurance representative called your practice, presented herself as Mellissa, she was rude and she said that $173 is not too much for me to pay and I should pay it and be happy... how does she know if I can or can not afford to pay that... ? Careless beyond comprehension, and as long as you do nothing against this behavior, your business will suffer, I am not the only one to report the same behavior, good luck!

Dr.Powers is amazing! Not only did he figure out whats been going on with me for years that other doctors had misdiagnosed, but he went above and beyond in helping order tests along with finding me a specialist. I will always recommend Dr.Powers. His staff are friendly, his office is relaxing. The phlebotomist there is nothing short of awesome! I have small veins and she was able to hit it with the first shot to draw labs. The office is worth the hour drive for me.

Finding local trans care has been a nightmare since my GP left IHA. I was finally directed towards PFM and they responded immediately. Not only was the response timely, but on a weekend. They have already made my life so much easier. Dr.Sommer was incredibly kind and talked me through everything. As it has being a while since I have gone to see a doctor for a full physical. From the moment I walked in to his office he made feel comfortable and at home. All my fears went away. He is caring, compassionate, friendly, kind, thorough and of course very intelligent. He listened to my long list of “aches and pains” and explained, studied, confirmed, tested and found solutions for them. I have never being to a doctor who has being as thorough as Dr. Powers. Powers is great, Damien is great, Summer is great, but the scheduling issues and the online system are driving me crazy. It’s almost always impossible to get a hold of anyone on the phone to schedule an appointment and the new system the practice switched to is so horrible. Everyone is kind and other than the frustration in getting things scheduled I really love the office. Powers is blunt and that can sting, but is always helpful. Damien and Summer are both awesome and I’ve only seen them virtually, but always easy to talk to and efficient.

Going to see Dr Powers has turned around my life. I thought my Beaumont doctor was doing a good job but I had no idea. He treats you like an actual human being and not another patient. He is a total science nerd and will not stop until he finds a way to help you, even if nobody else has the answers. Has many medical connections in the local area and is not afraid to reach out for a second opinion. Highly recommended as a primary care physician. Give him a visit and I promise you will not be disappointed.

I have delayed writing a review in order to base it on multiple experiences at this office. Dr. Powers excels at his practice and is a thorough and fact based doctor. He has identified issues long overlooked by other physicians and is actively working to mediate them. I cannot recommend this office high enough. While the cats have been asleep on the job while I am there, knowing that he provides them for client interaction and support is wonderful.

Absolutely the best doctor and office Ive ever had. They truly listen to whats going on, are willing to run extra blood tests to check things. No other office came close to figuring out a unique issue I had and getting my test results back into a normal range. Ive never felt better or been healthier. If you can manage to get into this place, do it!

Amazing Doctor! Doctor Powers is rare among doctors in the high level of care and concern he provides to his patients. I never feel like he is rushing me. In fact, quite the opposite. He isnt afraid to spend time with me asking questions and always provides detailed information in response to mine. He is never arrogant or dismissive. He is open minded and welcoming, and I am never afraid to tell him the truth. I am 52 years old and have never had a better doctor or felt like my medical care was in the hands of such a competent doctor.Dr. Powers has an exceptionally broad range of knowledge and has always been able to help with the variety of issues I have brought to him. I have never felt like he was just guessing with my medical care.

I had the same PCP my whole life before moving to the area. While my former doctor was a nice man, it wasnt until I began seeing Dr. Powers that I realized how much of my concerns and issues had been ignored. After two visits, Dr. Powers and his staff have done more for me than any doctor or Nurse Practitioner Ive seen. Will is a frank person, but its never mean spirited or rude, just honest and coming from a place of concern. He praises your progress and is understanding of your set backs. Dr. Powers is not just an excellent physician, he’s also the first doctor I’ve ever felt safe being completely honest with. He listens, really listens, and speaks without judgment or criticism. I feel very lucky to have him as my doctor.

It is incredible how much Dr. Powers has helped me. I wasnt seeing any results with my previous medication and decided to change doctors, and I am so glad I was able to see Powers. He did more than just routine blood work and figured out what my problem was and changed my medication and now I feel great! I have energy and I am seeing results now. Plus, Dr. Powers answers all of my concerns and questions and I feel he is genuinely here for me. I look forward to seeing the clinic one day in person too!

Dr P is an outstanding doctor. I have challenged him with showing me the science behind the treatment he perscribed. Challenge met and far exceeded. IMO He is abrasive, crude at times, but he knows more about you than anyone else. I love that about him. There were several issues that I seen many doctors for over 12 year span. First time seeing him all of those issues were gone the next morning. All said and done, if he wanted to even taze my son to test something. I would trust him.

Dr. Powers is the best. Ive never had a doctor that cared so much. He is incredibly thorough, kind, and knowledgeable. He always has time for my questions, and Im living my best life under his care. Plus his office, staff, and cats are awesome!

I have always hated going to the doctor, but this place is so great, it feels like a health boutique. I always get quality care and quickly. They have a great selection of reading material in the lobby, tea and coffee and even an arcade game that looks very enticing to play, but I never end up waiting more than 3-5 minutes so I never get the chance! They even have charging cables in the patient rooms, with a gaming console in every room and a TV with Netflix (and I think Hulu?). I never end up waiting long enough to partake in these, but its nice to know theyre there! OH AND THERES CATS. AND PUPPIES ON WEDNESDAYS. But, did I mention the hypoallergenic cats?! This place is hands down the best doctors office Ive ever been to. My PA treats me very well and thoroughly explains things to me and everyone there is also so great. There is zero judgement and only helpfulness from every person there. My list of likes about this place really goes on further, but to keep it short(er), I would just recommend this place to anyone! In fact, I already have and now my friends are jealous! 😁

The worst communication skills of any doctors office Ive ever seen. They Had no qualms about wasting my time, hundreds of dollars, and letting me figure out how to rectify the litany of issues that arose on my own. Unprofessional, and generally a problematic man with no social skills and a “referral program” the better business bureau should take a look at.

Im not sure what I can say that is not already said. Dr Powers and his team are truly second to none. The care and dedication everyone in his office gives makes traveling through 3 states to be seen a no-brainer. I have never in my entire life had a dr who puts in so much effort, time, resources, patience, care and respect as Dr Powers does. He and the entire team, Ashlee, Laura, Sommer, and anyone else who I may not have had the pleasure of meeting in person, are truly a top notch, world class health care group. If i have the privilege of doing so, I will continue to go to PFM for the rest of my life, and recommend anyone else who is looking for care that is truly the best of the best to do yourself a favor and call PFM to become a patient.I cannot stress enough how much fun he and his team seem to have every time I show up. This Dr knows how to treat patients like people. I, being a trans woman, absolutely love this practice and Dr. Powers approach to transgender care. Hes spent the time learning everything he can about how to send someone threw transition. I have progressed more in one month than I did at a previous endocrinologists practice with two doctors looking over my care over the course of 3 and a half years. Also, its important to note that here youll never be misgendered or treated poorly because your trans, lgbt, a minority, webbed feet, or any other reason. This man is how all doctors should treat people. If your reading this trying to consider weather or not to go to him, I say go! Youll never know what its like to have a wonderful doctor until you go to Dr. William Powers.

Very professional office but also fun and calming. Dr Powers wants to know as much as he can to help his patients. He told me what I needed to do to lose weight and as long as I followed it I lost weight. He did not just tell me that I needed to lose weight but showed me a path to follow. I am a medical student who worked with Dr. Powers for the past month and I wanted to offer my perspective as someone who has worked about 20 different providers in the past two years as I train to be a future provider myself. There are only a few doctors I have worked with who have the brilliance and intelligence to know when to follow the standard of care but also aren’t afraid to be aggressive and go beyond the guidelines to come up with their own methods of treatment. Dr. Powers is one of these people. More importantly, day in and day out I watched him respect the hippocratic oath that we all take when we graduate medical school to help ANYONE in need, regardless of their race, gender orientation, or sexual orientation. It was truly an honor to work with him and learn how to effectively treat the LGBTQ community. I do plan to follow the Powers Method myself and I highly recommend him as a PCP and plan to establish care with him myself because that’s how much I trust him with my own health management. Dr powers is the best doctor i have ever had or known. In 8 weeks he has made a tremendous improvement in my health and my diabetes is finally under control. I love his staff as well. They are kind and friendly and his cats are amazing. I love seeing them when i go. I used to dread going to the doctors or put it off because no one ever listened to me. He listens and respects you. I love yhat he is blunt and to the point. I always know where i stand with him and he views my health and well being as his number one priority while i am with him. I dont feel intimidated i am very uncomfortable and that has never happened before. He always listens to all of my concerns and addresses every one and if i had sny concerns he showed me an article in 2 seconds to alleviate that fear. His office is wonderful and you have many things to do if you have to wait. So far the wait time has been basically non existant for me not like normal office visits. Dr. Powers is my new favorite person! Hes the first doctor that really listened carefully to my health concerns and by my second visit, he diagnosed my disorder. Hes wicked smart and his staff is friendly and professional. Id give them all 100 stars if I could!

The only doctor I trust. I suffered for two years with doctors that kept being unable to find what was wrong with me before theyd give up and blame my weight.When Dr Powers got his practice up and running, I coordinated a visit to come from Chicago,IL and see him. After running a series of tests he figured it out! Im now on medications and such that already have me improving and will hopefully drive my condition into remission!He may be several hundred miles away but hes my doc!Highly recommend him!

I have heard great things about Dr Powers as a doctor but, unfortunately, Laura, his recptionist, is very cold, dismissive, unhelpful and rude. I sent an email asking for a new patient intake and she was extremely discouraging. I no longer want to see Dr. Powers despite my friends vouching for the excellence of his care. But definitely go see him if you can stomach dealing with a mean receptionist. Im too old to be treated like a criminal when I am asking for help. I didnt even WANT medication...

This is a doctor who can’t stay in his lane and prescribe medicine. For a doctor who claims and tried to be the “messiah” of trans rights he’s shown his colors during Lia Thomas winning and one of his MAIN REASONS as he reattempted to convey his message was “I’ve paid a lot of money getting licensed in many states and this threatens that” , I mean it was in one of the first paragraphs of his attempt to explain himself. A doctor whose best interest is being what his patient needs would not:1) post publicly TWICE about such a fringe topic (in support of the minority of the minority side)2) Tone police a minority community (seriously he’s been tone policing trans people all day)Doctor powers has done a lot of great things listening to trans voices but he’s let that go to his head and wallet and thinks he now has the authority to speak for all trans people, and thinks he’s speaking in our best interests when really his opinion is swayed by the “we should be happy with what we Have” mentality. Pathetic, I would not suggest this doctor for anyone as his politics and non-minority status conflict with his best interests as a trans healthcare provider at this point in time

Dr. P is the absolute most amazing physician I have ever seen in my entire life. I have spent my whole childhood and the better part of my adult life terrified and mistrusting of doctors because I never felt like my actual wellbeing mattered, that I was just another dollar sign opportunity sitting in a waiting room. I’ve never waited more than 20 mins to see him, he is so incredibly thorough about asking all the right questions, and explaining things in a way that makes sense for you to understand. He is here to make sure your entire quality of life improves, in whatever way possible. If you’re looking for a doctor that will treat you like a human, actually care fully about how you are doing, and take care of you in the most well rounded way absolutely possible, then you have found the one. I don’t even have enough good things to say about him, I’ll never go to another practice again if I don’t have to. It’s worth the drive, and worth my health. If he can’t help you, then he will send you to someone just as amazing as him to make sure everything goes the way it should.Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU Dr. Powers. Five stars are not nearly enough. It is not hyperbole to say that Dr Powers is by far the finest primary care physician I have ever treated with. He embodies the venerable tradition of medicine and the Hippocratic Oath. Not only does he posess a brilliant medical mind, he is also a gifted listener and healer, as well as a kind human being. He works in partnership with his patients to diagnose and treat disease as well as helping guide them to be their best, healthiest self. He is a Dr that can be trusted. I have suffered from a severe chronic illness most of my adult life. It is highly unusual and complex and has unfortunately caused numerous secondary health challenges. Most Drs are overwhelmed by my situation and are unwilling to take the time to listen, research and try to treat someone who is not a cookie-cutter patient. Dr Powers is not one of those Drs. He has been more supportive and successful in diagnosing and treating my issues than the dozens of specialists and primary care physicians Ive seen in the last 15 years. I am so thankful to have found him. His staff is as committed and wonderful as he is.

There isnt a doctor like this anywhere else. Entertainment in every room. He work constantly on his education and treatment plans. He has a nice staff. He is willing to do everything for you he can within the rules of the job/ethics. He will explain everything to you in simple or advanced terms. The office staff are starting to be hostile towards patients and its difficult to book time with any of the three physicians in the clinic.

Saw Dr. Powers today. He was on time, thorough, and got me out on time. All aspects of my visit were stellar. I would highly recommend him! I have been his patient for almost five years.

Dr. Williams is one of a kind to say it mildly! He is direct, very personable & truly cares and treats each and every patient as it he were treating himself! He puts in a tremendous amount of his own unpaid time to help those that are greatly misunderstood and mistreated by society in general! His staff works in lock step to run a very efficient medical office to provide un-paralleled service to a diverse client base. Dr. Powers and his staff are a 6 out of 5!!! Finally! A doctor that isnt ignorant!! I have been trying to get a rare condition diagnosed and identified for years and now I finally have hope!! Very friendly, takes time to listen and very genuine. Doesnt ignore important symptoms, unlike many previous doctors I have had. Friendly staff, and they have the cutest cat ever!My only complaint is slight wait times......because its a small facility and he actually takes the time to listen and explain things to his patients.

Dr. Powers is the best doctor Ive ever had. Hes no-nonsense when it comes to treating his patients, and Ive never met someone so knowledgable about so many different types of medical conditions. Easily the best doctor Ive ever had. Competent, knowledgeable, easy to talk to, /crazy hot/, the last words he said to me when moving from where his practice is to the state of Washington were, Ill always be here if you need me, and I walked out trying not to cry about it so that was super cool. Dr. Powers is brilliant! I cant believe how lucky I feel to have found a doctor who is so knowledgable and caring. I had no idea why I was tired all the time and other doctors never found a reason. He immediately ran all the proper tests and diagnosed me with Hashimotos Disease. Now I am finally on the path to being able to fully live my life again.

Hey autistic fam! If you’re like me, just mentally prepare yourself for a lot to take in visually. It’s a lot of fun, but just like, FYI it was a touch overwhelming for me. There are games and posters and rainbows and TVs and colorings etc etc. Dr Powers starts off with eye contact, but over time I think he noticed I was flustered and looked at his laptop instead, and I didn’t even have to say anything! It’s really not too bad, but idk maybe when you come in it won’t make your head spin if you’re ready for it.That’s not to say that I want them to change though! I really think having a nice fun safe environment for lgbt folk is so important and it is obvious from the moment you step in that this is what it is. They don’t even use your name when calling you into your room! They give you a little toy thing and call you using that name instead.Dr Powers is awesome. I agree with every review I’ve seen on his abilities. He pointed out things that had been bothering me and told me how he could help me with it. Just... he’s really cool all right? Oh! Also, he transcribes with you in the room, so you can correct him if you are uncomfortable with certain things.Also, the ladies who took my blood were really nice and helpful. They were patient with my flustered floundering, and they treated me kindly. I really appreciated that because (drama time) I am a SENSITIVE soul~~~. No but for real, they did a good job and they didn’t even root around, which is awesome cause a lot of nurses do with my arms.All in all this place is great, if a touch overwhelming. I recommend first time patients who are overwhelmed easily to bring something to focus on and ground yourself. If you need to know, they have Netflix in their waiting rooms so that’s also nice.EDIT: I FORGOT!!!! THE CATS!!! They have the most beautiful cats that you can pet! They’re wonderful!!

Dr. Powers is an absolutely INCREDIBLE. After a false positive test from another Doctor that lead to a diagnosis that didnt align with what I was experiencing. He was able to figure out that I had a uncommon symptom that was overlooked and assumed to be lead to something more common. He changed my life after living a year thinking I had something to constantly worry about. Dr. Powers is nothing short of extremely intelligent, open minded, compassionate & personal. Powers Family Medicine is located in a small office building that is relatively unassuming off a main street. When you go into the building, you can sense how wonderful it is to be a nerd and see this doctor. The main lobby has a big screen TV with Hulu, Crunchyroll and other services, and in the other corner is an arcade machine with many games for you to play while you wait.The staff and check in process is very privacy focused. When you check in, you simply give the receptionist your initials, and you receive an Amiibo back in reply. That character (whos name is helpfully printed on the bottom) is what they will call to summon you back to the exam rooms.The exam rooms are also just as amazing as the front, with nerd art and artifacts, gaming consoles and TVs in each exam room, and an occasionally-wandering-through therapy cat.All this awesome is before you even get to sit down with Dr Powers, who is a very intelligent, very sharp young man. My initial interview with him I was impressed mostly by the fact that he didnt talk down to me at all - which might have helped if I didnt know some background information in medicine (so this may perplex some folks, and consider him a bit cold) but I enjoyed my interaction. Dr Powers comes up with an action plan and works with you to make your health a priority.

Dr. Powers Is one of the most unique dr’s. Its a pleasure having him as my dr he is a blessing he takes his time learning and reaching out and doing what I feel is a amount of research in transgender Health care and in my opinion he is the best in the states....more drs need to be using his safest most affective method....he is a god send for the entire lgbtq world....everyone in the office is so nice and respectable and hey there’s huge savannah cats out....

This is what a primary care physician should be. His office is comfortable and perfect for anyone who grew up through the 90s or more recently. Hes intelligent and talks to you in real conversation rather than at you which also means hes spending quality time with you and really working to get you good to go. I wish that there were way more Drs like him and enough practices like his to help people everywhere.

The attention to detail and ability to fill the needs of a wide variety of patients is spectacular. Ive never seen a practice put in so much effort to make their office inviting. I felt more like I was in a hotel than a doctors office.

Best medical team I have ever found! They are the best family medicine they do the common and the odd things. I have RARE chronic diseases that will never go away. In the last few years I have dealt with many garbage medical professionals, most that just throw pills and see what sticks. When I got convinced to change doctors in September I said end of the year I was 100% done with medical crud.I came in with a lunch bag full of meds I believe there was 29 pill bottles that I was taking daily for almost a year. I had cold turkey stopped ALL meds 2 weeks before and was ready to 100% give up.Doc looked at them all. Then swept them back in the bag. Said well this is ovusly not working stick with me and lets figure this out together. Go get blood work and lets start new. He had a idea what whats going on with in the 1st visit.Tried me on a few new meds being i have been on so many didnt have hope. I agreed but still was ready to quit. When the labs came in he says, this is out of my wheel house, so Im gonna go find help. The rare condition he thought I had the test came back yes I did! I had already been to all the specialist in my area and not one could figure it out. They went with the easy choice. That was wrong.Tried a few more meds few more test ran. Then he sent me to a new specialist with the proof I needed so they knew what was going on. The first specials had good reviews but dropped the ball. Dr powers personally reached out to another to get me help. Tho he told me from the start he had no clue how to fix me he would do all he could to get someone that should have the know how to help. I have been written off by every medical professional. I can 100% honestly say I am alive today because of this team. Not because of the meds but their willingness to step out and look at the whole picture. Am i fixed no will I be unknown but Im now willing to TRY again. Just him saying Yes... there is something I can prove it, but I dont know how to fix it. lets try and ask for help. Made all the difference. That alone sealed the deal on this office being the ONLY place I trust.Just remember they are people not wizards. They will help to the best of their ability.

Dr. Powers and his staff are very professional and thorough. I was there this morning and they have their Covid system down. Dr. Powers came out to my car to do my nose swab in a full suit and then I went to a secluded side entrance, into a sanitized room where my blood was drawn for the Covid antibody test.

Powers is a doc above. He doesnt pad the facts, he is here to help you with your health minus the fluff. He is the real deal, not out to sell you big pharm or answer a question he does not know the answer too. Honest, real, and highly skilled. This is the guy you want in your corner. Not to mention his practice is a cool place to be, just sit in the lobby and you understand that your in a cool place, in good hands, and not with your typical MD. Make no mistake this is one, if not the, best practices in the state

Thorough, straightforward, and always willing to answer questions and make sure that you understand what is going on and what needs to be done. I am not easily comfortable with doctors. Dr. Powers has created a welcoming atmosphere that greatly eases anxieties.

My husband and I are homeless and struggling with Rheumatoid Arthritis, and a host of other issues, weve had issues with our insurance provider, our vehicle, our motivation to go on, if not for Dr Powers we would have given up on seeking treatment. William Powers is not only precise and personable but is the most intelligent physician I have ever met. He is an ally and provider for the LGBTQ community and specializes in trans medicine.

Ive been seeing Will for almost a year at this point. In that time, hes diagnosed and effectively treated the cause of my chronic pain, (previous doctors told me I was too young to have chronic pain) he has helped me to safely and effectively transition with hormones, and he has resolved a plethora of my other medical problems. As long as Will is doing this work, Ill be seeing him.

Holy heck, a doctor who actually listens and sees patients. Hes intense but he doesnt talk down to you and he knows what hes talking about. I was on hormones for years with no luck of breast tissue growth. A few months with him and I honestly dont even want implants 😂

Worst customer service ever. After continuously calling to even get scheduled for 2 months I finally come I was late due to bad weather and I have to reschedule. If this is the best care for the trans community then we’re in trouble.
