Ive been under Dr. Monacos care for many years now and am very happy with the service I have received and the suggested approaches he has recommended, including which supplements/prescriptions to use, based on lab results and discussions. Dr. Monaco was the only professional to suggest checking for heavy metals as a culprit for elevated liver enzymes, after all other remedies didnt have the desired result - he was right, and with his suggested chelation therapy my enzymes have now been in the normal range! I love Dr. Monaco, Lisa, and the rest of the staff. Dr. Monaco takes time to listen and evaluate my health as an individual. He looks at me and what I need, not what the “average” 51 year old woman needs. It is rare today to have a physician do that. In my experience they spend less than 15 minutes with you and then they are rushing out the door while you try to ask a question. At Nashville Hormone I felt listened to and respected. Thank you! I spent decades working in healthcare administration and can say that there is no other practitioner in the greater Nashville area that has the knowledge, training, and sub-speciality expertise of Dr. Monaco. This was my first visit to Dr Monaco. The staff was very pleasant. I was seen in a timely manner. Dr Monaco was very informative and seemed to understand my issues. He also ordered a very extensive panel of labwork which I found impressive. He seemed to really want to help me get to the root cause of my health problems. I go back in a couple weeks for a follow up. I have already recommended him to a few friends and will continue to do so!!

Dr. Monaco and his staff were exceptional! They were professional and kind, and Dr. Monaco was thorough and seems to be extremely knowledgeable. In the past, endocrinologists have either put me on medicine that made me feel worse or told me that I was fine and my labs were “normal”. After my initial visit, Dr. Monaco ordered a lot of lab testing that other doctors hadn’t bothered to check, but he explained to me that adrenal fatigue, vitamin or mineral insufficiency, or low progesterone could be causing my low thyroid hormones. I am still waiting for results back, but I am so happy to have found a doctor that takes the time to really listen and explore all possible causes. I am feeling hopeful that he will be able to help me feel better and get my thyroid back within normal ranges.

This was my first visit to Dr. Monaco. Dr. Monaco is unlike any other physician I have visited. He took the time to discuss my issues, taking a very personal approach. He is very thorough and patient. I would highly recommend him. I am very excited for my follow up appointment. His approach at finding out what the actual problem is and not just treating symptoms is refreshing and I am very confident that he will be extremely helpful in addressing my health issues.

I had my first consultation with Dr. Monaco yesterday and for the first time in over ten years, I left with hope. He spent a full hour with me- actually listening to my symptoms and asking questions I have never been asked before even though I have been to countless providers trying, begging and pleading for someone to listen to me, to hear me. I can’t wait to go back after all of my tests are back and begin treatment!

I have been working with Dr. Monaco for almost 2 years now. He has been patient and very attentive to my symptoms and monitoring my hormone levels. I would definitely recommend him and his staff if you are looking for detail oriented and caring individuals!

Dr. Monaco and Lesa are absolutely awesome and very helpful. The entire staff is very friendly and professional ! If you have any issues with your thyroid or think your hormones need to be tested throughly look no further . Dont waste your time with your general PCP or OBGYN. They dont have the extra training that Dr. Monaco has. He was a regular OBGYN the first part of his career and then decided to just focus on hormone, thyroid and weight loss.😉

This review is NOT reflective of the physician because I believe his reviews that he is excellent - or I would not have contacted him. This review is of the administrative staff.I received a recording confirming an appointment I had cancelled 3 or 4 weeks ago, almost immediately after I had called to schedule it. Since I have been a director of health care services for 15+ years and know the frustrations of scheduling and cancellations, I decided to give them a courtesy call about this so they weren’t expecting me. I was told they would be charging me $50 for cancelling my appt THIS MORNING - and it is their policy to charge $100 for being a ‘no show.’ So with my background being what it is, I asked if this is your policy do you provide to people that cancel a confirmation email or text so they have evidence to avoid or dispute these fees? And do you have people to sign an authorization to charge their card based on this specific practice when they make an initial appointment? I know the answer based on my own experience but was curious what her answer would be.I was told I would have to remember the name of the person I spoke with - keep in mind that was weeks ago - or I would have to verify the cancellation was recorded in my ‘patient portal.’ I told her I’ve never been in any patient portal because I cancelled weeks ago. She said didn’t you get an email with a link to our portal? I don’t think so because I cancelled almost immediately after scheduling and I would have no reason to follow or look for a link even if I did get an email.So... for my effort to be considerate this morning, I was stuck on the phone for 6 minutes (trust me, I kept a screenshot as evidence of my call this time!) on the phone with a rude individual that not only insinuated I was lying but also ended the call by telling me to never call them again for an appointment.I got on their website after my call because I thought maybe I had missed something that had been clearly communicated to me. They do have a place where you can either print or sign online the new patient forms. This form requiring a signature does say they ‘may’ charge you $100 for missed appointments. I never filled any of those forms out or went to this link before today. I also searched my email history and can’t find any email from them although I made it so long ago I probably deleted it if sent one.If I am charged it will be reported to the better business bureau and unfortunately the licensing board. Unless they record all incoming calls, to include mine, they cannot prove informed consent. The practice of charging someone, without disclosure of policy practice and authorization to do so, falls under billing fraud.I hope no one else has been a victim of this practice and it is changed before a good physician’s reputation is impacted negatively due to no fault of his own.

Dr Monaco has been instrumental in changing the way I feel. I have more energy because of his guidance. He didnt jump on the Lets just give you Test to make it better. bandwagon either. He was able look at blood work and determine a plausible course of action and in my case, without Test. Ive been going to him for over a year and thus far have had much more energy and clarity of thought. He is also helping me with a thinning hair issue. Keep in mind, the results happen over a period of time. We review blood work and change supplements/meds as needed.

Saw this doctor at St. Thomas for crippling familial insomnia (as another doctor finally gave me the correct diagnosis). His recommendation was to take very expensive supplements that I had to order and pay for myself (no health insurance). Also told me to never, ever take anything for sleep only as it was highly addictive. Took these supplements faithfully for six months and they did absolutely nothing. I understand hes in the anti-aging rejuvenation field now.

As I have been fighting back from a rare auto-immune disorder that almost killed me, Dr. Monaco has been the doc that has helped me the most. As an integrative doctor, he combines the big pharma stuff the usual MDs prescribe with diet, supplements, etc.Be prepared for lots of testing (blood, urine, stool) ... but it just might reveal imbalances and/or deficiencies that, when corrected, can really improve your health!Our insurance (Aetna) covers Dr. Monaco, with standard co-pays. Regular prescriptions are similarly covered, as they would be from any M.D. However, the non-pharmaceuticals he ALSO recommends like Garlic, fish-oil. vitamins ... of course are not.I highly recommend Dr. Monaco to anyone who has a difficult condition that more conventional medicine seams incapable of properly addressing.

Yesterday was the first time I met Dr Monaco, and Ive had a very good impression. The fact that hes interested in the whole body and not just in the organ that seems to have a problem is the reason why I choose him. I hope this is a beginning of a long relationship.

I am hopeful that Dr. Monaco will be able to help me with my 15+ years of menopausal symptoms. After not finding doctors who will do more than give me a pill, it seems after doing my own research, he is testing all of me before prescribing a fix.

I filled out all the paperwork online. And SPECIFICALLY told them I couldn’t do mornings! My appt was set up for 10:45 am. I HAVE MAJOR THYROID ISSUES AND WAITED FOR 4 months for this appointment!! 2 days prior to the appointment I get a reminder message saying 8 am! I called and told them that was incorrect and they finally offer me an appointment In April! SERIOUSLY 5 months to get in?? It should be ILLEGAL to leave a patient hanging this long ESPECIALLY When they have a medical condition that needs specialized care!!! DR MONACO AND HIS OFFICE STAFF SHOULD BE ASHAMED!!! They have called me a number of times since December offering early appts that had been cancelled! I TOLD THEM EVERY TIME I COULD NOT COME EARLY!!! Now this?!!! What PATHETIC TREATMENT!!! THEY SHOULD BE ASHAMED!!! Dr Monaco SHOULD BE ASHAMED AS WELL!!!

150 charge for a canceled appt. I have two toddlers, work full time and we’re in a pandemic. Stay away, trust me. You’ll be waiting months for an appt, only to take tests for saliva and urine which you’ll pay out of pocket 300+ only to have him tell you to buy vitamins for your decencies and not change your thyroid medicine at all. VITAMINS. Switched to endocrinologist and couldn’t be happier. Only reason I gave them three stars was because his nurses were nice. But he’s a scam artist, a primary doctor can do a blood panel and tell you to take vitamins for a 20 co pay. Also 150 for a canceled appt, what a jerk.

Dr. Monacos knowledge of medicine, pharmacology and functional medicine is un-paralleled. To wit, he tailors the management of an indivduals systemic health and monitiors the need for incremental change to maintain homeostasis. At 69, I have never felt better. Thanks, Dr. Jack

Dr. Monaco is one of those doctors that actually explains things to you. If I have a question he may not have addressed, he takes the time to do so. Hope he stays around for a long time!!!

I waited two months to get in. When I called had a new patient appt and was told to call back to get more information. No one told me they’d cancel my appt if I didn’t call back In a certain time frame. Since when do people cancel your doctors appointments for you without letting you know. Calling today they told me they cancelled and can’t get me back in until September. No phone call. Nothing. Very disappointed.in the staff and how they handled me over the phone as if it were all my fault There was no remedy of let us put you back on the schedule or on a waiting list. They only made sure to keep saying over and over it was my fault. I’m sure this staff needs training on how to handle upset clients more appropriately. A follow up phone call with an apology and fixing the situation would of been appreciated. They need to work on customer service.

Be warned- this *doctor* will require the following before your initial visit $500, a copy of your drivers license, copies of your insurance card AND your CREDIT card to keep on file. Dont fall into that trap. There are plenty of well-established and reputable physicians in the Nashville area to choose from- this clearly isnt one of them.

Highly recommend Dr Monaco. He is an expert in his field and an overall great guy. His team is also wonderful . Great experience !
