I love Pillar Physio so much we drive over an hour for my weekly appointment. Anna is so kind/patient and willing to explain things in multiple ways so that I understand fully. I can truly say that this investment in my pelvic floor health is an obvious winner and I’m not even finished with my program. I’m already seeing improvement in how I feel internally and move about throughout my day. The exercises at home are simple/effective. While the topic of pelvic floor health can be a vulnerable space, because everyone I’ve encountered at Pillar has a loving spirit/ friendly disposition - this experience has been a healing experience for my body and my heart/soul. I started this journey after the unexpected death of my brother & 3 mos later while under Pillar care, the sudden death of my father. Sometimes I shed a tear during my session when a mind-body connect hits just right. I’m grateful to feel safe here in all ways.
This is my first time participating in pelvic floor therapy, and I cant say enough good things about Pillar Physio! I came in with lower back pain and a clicking sound in my pelvic area following the birth of my third baby. Both issues were resolved during my treatment. I feel better about my postpartum healing and getting back into an active lifestyle without the fear of pain. The entire team at Pillar Physio has been amazing to work with from receptionist to the therapists on my treatment team. I highly recommend Pillar Physio!
I really appreciate the care I have received at Pillar. The treatment plan I have from my PT has been amazing and helpful with reducing my pain in my hip and pelvic floor. She always answers my questions and gives me examples on things I can do to further help my body. She also has helped me understand my body more in general and I feel comfortable with her. The office has a lovely atmosphere and Olivia is amazing at answering my questions regarding payments, scheduling, moving appointments etc. I am very happy with this office and couldnt recommend it more.
Finally relief! I woke up this morning with no lower back pain for the first time since before pregnancy my son is 5 for reference. The stretches and breathing techniques both taught to me by Amber and Anna have helped me tremendously and made me more aware of how to move and position my body during both rest periods and during exercise. My pelvic floor thanks you both! 😁
I have had an amazing experience with my PT Anna! She has created a treatment plan that has helped with my pelvic floor symptoms giving me back a quality of life I have been missing for a long time. Also the front desk staff are very organized and have been timely with my insurance super bills, which is a big stress relief when figuring out anything with insurance companies. The office is itself has a calming atmosphere and I do not dread coming in like I usually do for Doctors visits. If there were more stars they deserve them! 5 stars just doesn’t cut it!
Anna and the staff at Pillar Physio are great! From my very first session, I was met with patience and support during what was a very stressful time for me. They are good listeners and full of knowledge. As someone that had had prolapse surgery four years ago (in 2020) , I had recently begun to feel some symptoms resurface. I was very anxious and fearful to get out and go for hikes, bike rides and even walking the dog around the block due to my sudden symptoms. I am very glad I found Pillar Physio ! Anna provided education, emotional reassurance , physical support, and provided me with tools that I can now use at home to help with the continuing reduction of symptoms. It amazed me how every session I felt so much better! I highly recommend giving this a chance as I learned about not only prolapse but several other symptoms I was having are related to the pelvic floor including my back and hip pain. I now feel more confident, comfortable and have gained strength to move forward in my day to day and outdoor physical activities that I enjoy!
I am so grateful for Pillar Physiotherapy, and give them my highest recommendation. After the birth of my first child, things didnt feel normal down there, but I didnt have your typical symptoms of a prolapse, and with finances being tight I ignored it for months. I also had very mild diastasis recti (ab separation) which I made much worse by not being careful when I resumed exercising postpartum. I tried to research and find exercises on my own that I could do, to strengthen my core (resolve my diastasis recti) and my pelvic floor, and I did find some and do them, but it only helped a little bit. Then, I got pregnant again, only 11 months after my first was born. My prolapse symptoms started getting worse, and were starting to greatly affect my daily life, so I finally called around to some pelvic floor physical therapy places. There was a significant difference just in talking on the phone with Pillar Physiotherapy compared to other rehab places I called, and while Pillar was more expensive and further away, they seemed so much more competent that I decided to try them. I AM SO GLAD I DID!! I saw Dr. Anna, and from the beginning she was so professional, knowledgeable, and compassionate. She took her time in her exam and history, discussing everything and explaining things to me and answering all my many questions, and was so gentle but thorough. I didnt realize until I left my first appointment that I had gone 15 minutes past my allotted hour appointment time, but she never brought it up or made me feel rushed, but just kept answering all my questions and concerns (I believe I was the last appointment for the day, so she must have stayed late for me). I saw her 3 more times and learned many breathing and exercise techniques to engage and strengthen my pelvic floor, my core, and to learn how to deal with abdominal/pelvic pressure. I had never been taught to use my pelvic floor muscles, so I didnt even know how to use them! I only had really known about Kegel exercises, and was quite good at those and those muscles were decently strong, but there are other pelvic floor muscles that arent used in a Kegel that are part of a strong pelvic floor. Many of the exercises you see online are the correct exercises to strengthen your pelvic floor, but if you dont actually use/engage your pelvic floor muscles when you do the exercise, they dont strengthen your pelvic floor! And Dr. Anna showed me how to do this. After about 3 weeks of doing the exercises, I started to see marked improvement in my symptoms!! This was SO encouraging to me, and made my daily life SO MUCH BETTER! I also found the exercises started making my back hurt less! I will continue to see Dr. Anna, as this pregnancy progresses, and will see her postpartum. I was feeling very defeated and scared about being pregnant again and my prolapse and ab separation and things being even worse after my second baby. But now I just feel confident and capable! Thank you so much to Pillar Physiotherapy and Dr. Anna, they have made such a difference in my life, are more than worth the cost, and would recommend every postpartum woman to see them!
I am so glad I found Dr. Sarah and this practice. It is absolutely worth the investment - I am 5 months postpartum and in just 2 visits I am feeling SO much better, at almost 100% mobility. They also allow you to bring in your babies and help with taking care of them. I highly recommend this practice. Olivia at the front desk is awesome also.
Dr Emily is the best and her treatment method is so effective! I came to her postpartum after delivering and sustaining a 2nd-3rd degree tear. She helped to improve my diastasis recti, ease my low back pain and muscle strain from giving birth and breastfeeding and made me and my newborn feel so welcome when going to appointments seemed overwhelming. I would recommend her and her colleagues to anyone looking for relief from persistent symptoms, especially mamas. Im so glad I found her!
I can’t tell you how pleased I am with Pillar physiotherapy. I have IC and had not ever connected relief of my symptoms with Pelvic floor therapy. I have been amazed at the relief and difference it has made to me. I worked with Anna, she really listened to my concerns as they were multiple. Since digestion and colon are part of what I deal with she had therapy that I can do even at home to enhance my healing as well. When I had seen a urologist to help with my bladder symptoms, she had also recommended pelvic floor therapy, but I was put on a 5 month waitlist, I knew I could get help prior to that. When Pillar Physiotherapy was recommended to me, I called immediately. I could get in the next week. I also learned that working with out of network healthcare ensures that you are getting high levels of personalized care one on one treatments that are not under the insurance company’s constraints. I am pleased to tell you that I learned so much and have had great results!- Phyllis L
Im so glad I found pillar Physio!! Dr.sarah Shoun is amazing! she came up with A treatment plan that helps me with my problem after giving birth. Dr.Sarah is patient, kind and really listen to your concerns!
Can’t rave enough!!! I went from a 4 finger width separation to being able to run again. My back had gone out a few months after having my son and did sessions here to regain my core. Can’t rave enough about Pillar💞🫶🏼 Dr Emily is the absolute best!!
Huge thanks to Dr. Anna and Dr. Emily at Pillar PT—theyre pretty amazing. After trying out a few different physical therapy practices and chasing pain relief, Ive finally found the dream team. Dealing with chronic back and hip pain, Im thrilled with the progress Ive made under their care. What makes them stand out? Theyve crafted a treatment plan thats tailored specifically to me, not just a one-size-fits-all approach. Plus, theyve introduced me to a whole range of treatment options like cupping, dry needling, medical massage, and even personal training. Its been a game-changer!I really appreciate how they balance personalized care with their structured approach to setting a strong foundation. Its effective to be sure. Thanks to Dr. Anna and Dr. Emily, Im finally seeing some real improvement in not just managing my pain, but truly eliminating pain. If youre on the hunt for providers who are highly knowledgeable, invested in your care, and deliver results, check them out at Pillar PT. Theyve made a world of difference for me, and Im sure they can for you too.
I cant say enough about Pillar Physiotherapy! Very welcoming environment and so attentive to you and your needs. I have been working with Dr.Sarah and would recommend her to everyone needing help!
Ive had lower back (SI joint) issues for 7 or 8 years. After seeing two primary care doctors and three physical therapists (not to mention doing hours and hours of prescribed PT exercises), I had resigned myself to having lower back pain for the rest of my life. But after ONE treatment at Pillar with Dr. Anna Powell, Ive seen the light at the end of the tunnel. And the treatment was not even on my back but on my abdomen! In the past, Ive felt like each of my symptoms was handled like it was happening in a vacuum, while Pillar took the time to connect the dots and get to the root of the symptoms.
Very clean and friendly office! Dr. Sarah was extremely knowledgeable, kind, and helpful! I left with a detailed treatment plan and feeling optimistic about it my care. I am excited to move forward with Dr. Sarah and even more excited for results! Highly recommend!
Incredible practice! Highly highly recommend if you are looking for personalized care from providers that truly care. I also really appreciated that they followed up with me regarding my questions and interest in their services. As a busy mom it can be easy not to prioritize yourself and your care but their follow ups helped me to stay on track, get scheduled and be accountable to myself. If you’re looking for your sign to put yourself first and work with the best around… THIS IS THAT SIGN!
My experience at Pillar has been exceptional. Im a 55 year old mom of 6 and grandmother of 7 & came to Pillar for help with prolapse after a previous experience elsewhere that left me feeling *very* discouraged. Im so thankful to have come to Pillar! Anna is professional, thorough and supportive. She answers any and all of my questions and thoroughly explains everything she does. I felt a difference after my very first session - I am so happy!! So grateful for the exceptional care at Pillar and I highly recommend them for women of all ages & stages!
I have been LOVING my appointments. I instantly feel better after spending the morning with Anna. If I had to choose between chiropractic care, massages, or physical therapy at Pillar, I would choose Pillar every time! Anna is encouraging, warm, and gentle. She has come up with a plan that helps me live life pain free.
Emily and her team are top notch! I definitely recommend them and trust their expertise regarding all things pelvic health. They truly care for their patients and treat the whole person, not just the symptoms. A place like this is a rare find these days! Automatic 5 stars!
Emily is amazing. She is knowledgeable, personable, and caring. I have seen significant improvement in my leg and back as a result of dry needling. Emily has healing hands!!Office staff (Olivia) is also great! Great communication and super sweet.I highly recommend!!!

I came here for my diastasis recti and pelvic floor and it has been an amazing experience! Dr Anna Powell is fantastic and is very knowledgeable about everything shes doing! Would definitely recommend to all moms who just had a baby and need extra support!
Dr. Emily is so knowledgeable! She’s been able to help my body heal after pregnancy and birth and has helped me heal both physically and emotionally. She’s very understanding and caring and has done wonders for my back and tailbone pain. I would recommend her highly to anyone and everyone!
10/10 recommend this place to anyone looking for amazing postpartum recovery care! Dr. Anna is so thorough and kind. She was able to help me with my diastases recti in only one visit and continues to help me feel my best after birthing my second baby. She has also explained everything she is helping me with in detail to help educate me on what’s going on within my own body. It is well worth it to invest in yourself with Pillar Physio!
Dr. Emily is a miracle worker! I wish I had seen her after baby 2 when I had SPD and had my hip issues addressed then. She has helped immensely in the last 5 months I’ve worked with her and I’m now back to running without pain.
I’ve been in a couple of colleague groupings with pillar physiotherapy. I know these reviews are typically reserved for patients, but seeing the backside/inside of the business and how much they care about giving the best care to their patients is worth shouting from the rooftops. There aren’t a ton of PT clinics that take the time to do 1:1 care, that are evidenced based, continue training to be better. This place is a gem, even from the inside out perspective. Georgetown is lucky to have them!!
Everyone at Pillar Physiotherapy is absolutely phenomenal! I initially started with Dr. Emily during my 3rd trimester of pregnancy. She not only improved my symptoms and pain but also provide a vast amount of knowledge, support and resources. I was able to have a beautiful VBAC with her help and the doula she recommended. I continue to receive treatment for post partum care and am feeling almost completely back to my old self. All the ladies at Pillar are the truly the sweetest. Olivia greets every patient with the best attitude and makes the clinic feel warm and inviting from the moment you walk in the door. Each therapist is specialized in women’s health and are very supportive. I highly recommend Pilar Physiotherapy to any woman looking for outstanding care!!
Emily and the team at Pillar Physio are the best! They care about you as a whole person and seriously know their stuff. Come here if you want great care.
I am so thankful that I found Dr. Emily! Iam a mom of a 7yr. Old and a 20 month old. I had been struggling with lower back pain for months after the birth of my second son. I had been to the chiropractor quite a few times for treatment and it only made my pain worse! I decided to give Dr. Emily a try and she did a small painless adjustment and my back pain was gone within 2 visits!!!! She also resolved my symptoms of bladder leaking after years of trying to find exercises to resolve it. I can do as many jumping Jacks as I want with zero issues. I highly recommend Dr. Emily to every mom! She will make sure your body gets back in excellent condition!
Sarah is the BEST!! After resolving my rib flare and diastasis recti, I was confident enough in my body to get pregnant again. Her massage technique worked wonders to pull my core together again after carrying a 9.5 lb. baby who wreaked havoc on my body. We have since moved to telehealth where I can confidently say she is just as helpful as before but in a different scope. You can tell she REALLY knows what shes talking about and is super knowledgeable in all things PFT! THANK YOU SARAH
What a wonderful team. Everyone is knowledgeable and kind. I can struggle to feel safe and comfortable in a Dr’s office, but I am perfectly happy here. I have been receiving effective and excellent care. Highly recommend.
The ladies at Pillar are so welcoming and make you feel comfortable in the environment. Anna has been great to work with and is knowledgeable!
Scheduling with Dr. Emily was the first step to learning so much about my body and how pregnancy and just life in general can cause changes that over time you just get used. And guess what! You dont have to live that way. She is so knowledgeable and has the best bedside manner. Not only did my issues get resolved but I also learned exercises and different ways to keep those changes in my daily life. You will be surprised and amazed at how your body stores tension and stress and even more amazed at how Dr. Emily can help you return your body to a more relaxed and functional state. She is awesome!
Emily is THE absolute BEST! I cant say enough about my experience so far! Emily has magic hands I swear! I have had coccyx pain for 3 1/2 years since having my son and incontinence issues, along with diastasis recti after my daughters birth a year ago! I am no longer peeing myself, fully emptying my bladder, fixed my diastasis recti, and NO more tailbone pain! I thought I would be dealing with this for the rest of my life! Thank you soooo much! Emily and her team are the sweetest and will go above and beyond to help you! She takes a full body approach to really address the issues and knows her stuff! I came in with a headache one day and Emily went above and beyond to turn thr lights down, grabbed her salt lamp to light the room and worked my neck and shoulders! I walked out headache and pain free! I promise this is not awkward like a typical pelvic exam, you feel like youre at your friends house hanging out while getting treated on! I will NEVER regret the money spent! If you have been dealing with these issues or others, GO now & thank me later!
Just finished up my 10 session care plan with Dr. Emily. You get a full devoted hands-on 1 hour with her. She’s amazing. It was hard to commit knowing I could have gone somewhere else that took my insurance, but I could just tell her therapy methods were calling my name. There’s no way I would have gotten this level of care anywhere else. My primary reason for care was for my Diastases Recti (abdominal gap). It is now 90% closed!! She educates you well along the way, so if you “relapse” in any way post-treatment, you have the knowledge of exactly how to address it at home. Already have my next follow-up scheduled :)
Dr. Emily is a great therapist! She takes her time with you and provides comprehensive care. The exercises she provides make a huge difference. The atmosphere is calming, healing and comforting.
One of the best things I could do to get my body back on track. After just two visits I could feel the difference. Anna is the best and really walks you through the process!
I made the mistake of responding to a clickbait ad for Pillar Physio online. I was sorry because they started hounding me for days and would not stop. I told them to leave me alone, and they kept on texting and calling. I would not do business with this office.
I love this place, they treat you with a lot of respect and I appreciate that! Also they respond to all your questions very nicely!
I’ve struggled with pain in my back, headaches, and pain with intimacy for years. After only a few visits with Dr. Sarah my pain has already subsided dramatically. The building is clean and welcoming!
Dr. Emily was so kind and calming! Really helped me get rid of annoying butt pain. Highly recommend!
My wife received care from Pillar Physio and she had a great experience! Would recommend to anyone looking for exceptional care!
Wonderful establishment that really knows how to get to the heart of the problem you may be facing. They offer professional and tailored guidance to resolve your issues and I would 10/10 recommend
Got me in and evaluated so quickly. Made a game plan and scheduled so easily.
