After losing my insurance I decided to come here. I’ve been here once before which was fine but after the second time, I don’t think I’ll be coming back. No hard feelings I just feel like I can’t get the proper care I need from here. The good is the staff is friendly but as for the bad…..there just seems to me a lack of communication between the staff and the pharmacy.1.) after speaking to someone about getting on prep for free (since I didn’t have insurance) I was told I was gonna get a normal capsule 30 day refill since they “ran out” of the samples to hold me up for about a month till my meeting to get approved for free prep. I was told by the pharmacy that if I didn’t have insurance I was gonna have to pay full price out of pocket despite being told this was the alternative since they were out of the samples.2.) during the same time, I was called back in to receive treatment for a health issue and was told by the gentlemen who talked to me that I needed a shot, and medication which I was to get at the pharmacy. I got the shot but when I went to the pharmacy (remind you it’s literally in the same building) they didn’t receive the order for the prescription. I waited 45 min for them to figure out what was going on but I had to leave and told them I would be back tomorrow to pick it up. Came back the next day and they told me the medication was denied by the same guy who told me I needed to pick it up at the pharmacy (I believe his name is long). The pharmacy told me I needed to go back and talk to the front desk which all they told me was “I only see you got the shot but there was nothing for prescription”. I had enough being pulled in different directions so I left. Hopefully the shot is enough to do the trick I guess.Thankfully I just got insurance again and I’ll be able to see my dr next month. Again, the staff is friendly but because of the lack of communication, I just feel like it’s not right place for me.

This pharmacy is a Joke . They do not follow instructions. Never check with me when a new prescription is order . I wanted to try a new pharmacy but this one is a disappointment. Going back to my old pharmacy.

Amazing free testing service! Give yourself a couple hours incase theres a wait but last time I was in and out within 45 minutes and got my results in less than 48 hours. The staff are so helpful and kind and I will always recommend AHF to my un/under insured friends.

Dont waste your time here. Unless your desperate. They are really horrible. They will playcate you.. force you to change your insurance then say they will take care of your primary care needs. They are clueless. They will send you on a 3 month spin while trying to say their mistakes are accidental. If you have serious health issues aside from HIV go Anywhere Else! You wont regret it! Referrals... Forget about it! The dont know how to make a referral, they will mess you up and delay important vital procedures. The really should just stick to HIV and STDs. And stop pretending to be a Health Center. Pick a pill for your HIV there is no science to that! 🐻‍❄️

I recently called AHF (my primary health clinic) to schedule an urgent walk in appointment for the same day, due to some concerning health issues ( nausea, blood in stool, upset stomach, etc ). I called the first time to speak with my doctor, the front desk had said “ we will notify him and send him a message, he should call you within the hour”, however, after two hours of waiting I still haven’t received a call back. After being in excruciating pain I called back a second time to talk to the clinic team, they unfortunately, said “ your doctor is actually out of office today” a nurse will contact you within twenty minutes to talk about your symptoms. After more hours of waiting I still have not received any call back once again. Given the severity of my symptoms, I anticipated a prompt response from the clinic. I was told to expect a call within two hours, but I ended up waiting for more than six hours without any communication. During those hours of waiting, my anxiety skyrocketed, and I felt helpless and neglected. Despite multiple attempts to reach out to the clinic for an update, I received no response or acknowledgment of my concerns. This incident has shattered my trust in the clinic, and I will be looking for alternative healthcare providers who prioritize their patients well-being. I recommend that the clinic establish a more efficient communication system and provide realistic timeframes for callbacks to avoid causing unnecessary distress to patients. In conclusion, my experience at AHF was great in the beginning as I did make them my primary health clinic, after being a patient with them for more than two years , however, after today It was extremely disappointing, and I urge others to think twice before seeking medical assistance from them.

From overpriced medications to a disaster of a billing department, this place should be avoided at all costs. The employees are friendly, and they’ll lure you in thinking that things are cheap/free, but you’ll quickly find out that’s not the case when you go to pay for medication, start receiving bills in the mail from third parties, etc.Do yourself a favor: avoid AHf

Excellent pharmacy, staff. Building, furniture.Unfortunately even non profits are subject to Medical system beurocracy.I try Thailand or Mexico for a referral to a surgeon.Beurocracy makes the Medical system go round and round like a revolving door. Only the lucky get the help the need. I am not that kind of lucky.Yet.Someone needs to tell him to try another deodorant, 🙏🙏🙏🙏 that smell is nauseous. Thanks for trying your best, I am too. AHF corporate or HQ, nothing personal but try better. Actually better than better, better than before would be preferable at this point. ☝️ You deserve that and so does the community. Keep your heads high. To error is human .#freehealthcare is NOT FREE 🆓 #ACTUP

Rude staff at the welcome desk. Extremely limited # of tests per day. Called and they told me to walk in and I arrive at 2 entire hours before closing and they just send me back for “no space” on a week day. MONDAY.This place deserves 0 stars if Google would allow for it.Their response of the welcome desk will probably be: Unfortunately we have reached capacity and are not taking any more tests today.

I went about 1wk ago for std testing it was amazing. Staff was super nice. It was pretty quick. I went on a Tuesday, if you go have to get there early. Street parking was pretty good. Definitely will recommend this place. I received my test result on Thursday could not be more satisfying with a service like this. Put my mind at ease. Keep up the great work and amazing job and service you provide. I cannot give u enough thank yous for the service I received. 🙂

BEWARE!!! Billed almost $1,000 for what should have been a routine physical/wellness checkup and HIV/STD testing. I was referred to AHF San Diego for a routine physical/wellness checkup and HIV/STD testing as part of a UCSD Prep study. Under the Affordable Care Act, the visit should have been 100% covered, but following the visit, I was billed almost $1,000 by AHF and Lab Corp because AHF refused to code the visit as a preventative physical/wellness visit. They even coded the ICD-10-CM diagnosis z-code incorrectly. Its been over a year trying to get them to correct their error without progress. Theyve been unhelpful and unresponsive to information requests by myself and by my insurance provider. The only remaining recourse may be to sue.

Ive been going to AHF for the past 6 years and Ive never had any issues with the staff or anyone else for that matter. However, since they moved to the new location on 5th ave in San Diego, it has only gotten worse! It’s been 6 months since my primary Dr. Holt left this clinic and since then I have been waiting for them to give me the referrals I need in order to see a specialist. On April 14th I was talking to the staff requesting my referrals and trying to understand why I still had not gotten them. I was asking for answers but it seemed that my tone of voice wasnt appreciated. I’m not sure why because I never raised my voice nor disrespected anyone. Two hours after I left this clinic I received a phone call from the office manager, Martin, telling me that I am not allowed to visit this clinic unless I sign a letter that he’s going to send me.I tried explaining to Martin that I never shouted, cursed or disrespected anyone but Martin chose not to listen to me. I dont understand how a patient can be treated this way? I am completely appalled by this horrible experience.Never in my life had I been to a Drs office that treated me so poorly and unprofessional. In addition to the terrible manner in which I was treated I would like to point out that referrals usually are given to the patient within 5 business days. The fact that it has been 6 months and I still don’t have them is wildly unacceptable and indicative of an office that is poorly managed and/or incompetently staffed.About 3-4 days later, I received the letter from Martin, the office manager, and it was riddled with false accusations against me. It stated that I had a “history of problems”( NEVER HAD ! ) and “ failure to agree to the provisions of the contact “ meaning they want me to agree and sign that I had history of problems with that clinic/ staff which is completely false!I then contacted the main office in Los Angeles to speak to Martin’s supervisor, Peggy. I explained the situation to her and added even more confusion to this situation by stating “that history is only for the day you visited the clinic 4/14th” - really ??? Her explanation was not only false but illogical. I feel she was trying to manipulate me into signing that letter. To make matters worse, the Dr that signed the letter, Dr. Adam Zweig, has never never spoken to me or met with me. When I asked Martin the office manager to talk to the Dr., he refused. It is illegal to add false information on a patient’s chart and these are grounds for legal action.

TLDR: Extremely limited # of tests per day. | Rude Staff | Only really a walk in clinic if you are there at 830AM, if you cant be there @ that time do not bother. This place deserves 0 stars if Google would allow for it.They advertise as a walk in STD/STI clinic, who do not take appointments. However, after having attempted to get myself tested at this location 3 seperate times at 3 different times in the day (earlier and earlier every time) after a partner tested positive for an STD/STI; I have been turned away every. single. time.Their response is Unfortunately we have reached capacity and are not taking any more tests today.I beg people reading this to avoid the headache of dealing with this location and to just make an appointment with planned parenthood or some other testing facility so that you can have peace of mind. AHF does not offer that to the community that it serves. It also does not help that their staff is aburpt, rude and curt when giving you this information. As if it wasnt enough to have the weight of a potential STD/STI weighing on your mind but then to be rudely shut down and turned away, is not a good feeling. On one occasion I even asked if they knew any other locations that were walk in, to which their response was, You can always google other locationsIf you are insistent on going to this location I recommend arriving 20 minutes before they open and would even suggest knocking until they let you in just to make sure you are within capacity. There is no reason to have reached capacity for the day, less than 2 hours after you open your doors for business. To the manager of this location, I would like to offer the following.- Be more transparent with your community about what you offer. Because it is most definitely NOT a walk in STD/STI clinic. You are rather a provider of an EXTREMELY EXTREMELY limited number of tests per day. (To the point that you are unable to offer your services 2 hours after opening your doors)- Find a way to let people know that you have reached capacity for STD/STI testing at the base of your stairs. There is no reason to make your way into the building only to deal with rude staff who just turn the community members away.- This one may be a stretch but maybe you want to consider taking appointments. Your business model seems pretty flawed to anyone who has any sort of conflicting schedule with your business hours. Your current model basically tells anyone that unless you are here at doors opening you will be turned away for help.- Readdress your advertising campaign because the massive sign on University Ave and the bus benches throughout Hillcrest mislead the community into thinking that you are actually available for help.

The pharmacy is closed from 12 to 1 for lunch. But they refuse to do service from 11.30 am to 1.20 pm. Why is that ? They says it’s because it’s too close to lunch time.I know they are busy but they are hired for a job they don’t want to do.
