I had been struggling with a wicked case of sciatica for more than 10 years. It took over the entire left side of my back, hip and legs and despite many different medical procedures, remedies, etc., I found no relief. A friend recommended that I try acupuncture and I began seeing Dr. Rozenn. After several visits - I found both pain relief and restabilization of my lower back and left side. The outcome was far more than I could have hoped for. I especially appreciated that Dr. Rozenn worked with me on whole body health along with the structural issues. My recovery was so successful that I was able to return to my lifelong passion of ocean sailing and just finished an off-shore trip from Panama to French Polynesia. I am forever thankful to Dr. Rozenn and I highly recommend her for your medical and pain relief needs.

Dr.Rozen is different from other acupuncturists. She uses a different methodology that gives powerful, effective results that you may not be getting with tradition Chinese acupuncture. Her office is also gorgeous, newly remodeled, welcoming and kind staff. When I first met with her I felt like she was very through and attentive with my history and concerns. She answered all my questions in a simple straight-froward manner and did her best to explain the entire process and what her objectives were.Personally, I had been dealing with horrible cramps for all my post-puberty years, long having thrown in the towel, I was in her office for another issue and was greatly amazed when my cramps were gone with one session! This was after having tried several other acupuncturist, conventional and alternative medicine. I have sent several other people to her who have always gotten amazing results, she is a gem! I have been both a patient and intern with Dr. Rozenn and have thoroughly enjoyed both experiences. As a patient, Dr. Rozenn used her extensive knowledge of Kiiko Matsumoto style acupuncture alone with other evidence based protocols blended along with her own personally developed methods to both help me have a successful IVF transfer as well as keep me in tip top shape my entire pregnancy. Whether it was nausea, muscle aches or a breast cyst, she always had me feeling better immediately. As an intern, I am pleased to have taken on more and more responsibility over time and to play an integral role in both office operations and client interactions. Before I started my journey of acupuncture with Dr. Rozenn, I had been battling symptoms of extreme indigestion due to my GERD. I wasnt able to eat a meal without feeling serious discomfort in my upper chest area and/or would have trouble keeping meals down. I had to follow a super strict diet to limit the pain which was awful. During this time, I lost all my body fat causing me to feel weak and constantly fatigued because the diet didnt have any nutritional value. Unfortunately, the diet was the only way I could eat if I didnt want to feel any discomfort. I was underweight, tired, and miserable.After I started my journey of acupuncture with Dr. Rozenn, my quality of life has improved tremendously. After a few months of weekly sessions with her, I am now able to eat how I want and am gaining my weight back. She really takes the time to talk to you every session so that she can get to the source of whats causing the problem. You can tell she really cares about her patients because of the time she spends with you. Dr. Rozenn was able to connect the dots and find the root of what was causing my GERD like symptoms and I cant thank her enough for it. Im forever grateful!

We are so so fortunate to have Dr. Rozenn here in Santa Cruz. She is an expert maybe THE expert in womens health and fertility acupuncture. I cannot recommend her highly enough. Period issues, hormonal issues, fertility issues, pain, pregnancy support post partum support- she is amazing for all of it. I came to Dr. Rozenn three years ago as my final attempt to get my PCOS under control without defaulting back to hormonal birth control. Within a few months my wildly irregular cycles stabilized and as we continued to work together with me following her advise on diet and lifestyle changes I finally got my PCOS under control for the first time in 10 years (acne, irregular cycles, painful periods, hirsutism, the whole thing). Then when I wanted to prepare for pregnancy which my primary care doc had told me would require medication and be extremely difficult due to my PCOS, Dr rozeen helped me again and when I was ready to start trying, I got pregnant in 2 cycles ! She supported me throughout my pregnancy providing relief during my difficult first trimester and relief from pain and other discomforts during the rest of my pregnancy. I even went in just the day before my birth! We also prepared for my postpartum and I set só supported. From the extensive and thorough first intake appointment to my last appointment postpartum to help with my back aches (I just recently moved), Dr. rozenn always listened and asked questions and tailored her treatments to my body specifically. I am so deeply grateful and send everyone I know to her. For me she was my primary doctor - the person who knew me, my physiology, and my life best. Her office also provides superbills for insurance, so I didn’t have to pay totally out of pocket. There is just no one better.

What is written in the paragraphs below is still true! More recently I decided to play superman when I tripped on an uneven sidewalk and went flying through the air. The landing was not kind on my right shoulder. I had torn my rotator cuff and injured my deltoid. Ive been seeing Dr. Rozenn once or twice a month, and with just a couple of extra visits my frozen shoulder was back to having full mobility. Im not saying it still wasnt sore, but four weeks of recovery compared to the six months to a year that was anticipated is a fantastic tribute to her skills.I feel very fortunate to have found Dr. Rozenn after being told by my physician to seek help elsewhere since Western medicine obviously wasnt helping me (the best advice that doctor ever gave me). I originally sought help from Dr. Rozenn for daily chronic post-operative pain, and as a bonus she also helped me with scar reduction (you can hardly see it now) among other things. I have benefited on multiple occasions from her vast knowledge of endocrine issues, as well as herbal supplement and diet recommendations. It was surprising to me (after exclusively relying on Western medicine) to find out just how many things acupuncture can help with; now I will just ask her, Is there is a needle for that? when new ailments appear. I reached out to Dr Maureen Rozenn in June of 2021 after being referred by Dr Angelica Salazar at Santa Cruz Functional Medicine. I was looking for additional ways to treat and manage my heart disease, which was about to take a turn for the worse.In April 2020, I had a third heart attack in my 21-year heart disease history. By June of 2021, I had my worse heart symptoms under control by leaning more heavily on allopathic medicine and increasing the level and kind of medications I was taking. Dr. Rozenn was part of my healing journey for 8 months. Her compassionate and specialized approach was always unique to me. I am honored to have had the opportunity to be under the care of such knowledgable and caring practitioner becaue she supported me and addressed my health holistically and empathetically. One of the most significant breakthroughs of my care was her ability to cater my treatments to my basal body temperature charts. Highly recommended! I have had severe back and pelvic pain since having my daughter over three years ago. Dr. Rozenn has been absolutely amazing. She has helped me more than I ever would have believed possible.Last November I had to go off of work on disability after being diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome following my 5th case of mono (Ebstein Barr Virus). Essentially it means that I was too tired to function on a basic level (anything beyond laying on the couch was too much for me) and they couldnt tell me why or when I would get better. Any labs that were run came back a little odd sometimes but were within the normal range, so I kept being told to just rest. I saw my doctor, a rheumatologist, and an endocrinologist who all told me nothing was wrong.After going through this for several months (my symptoms started in September), I finally decided to see Dr. Rozenn on the advice of my chiropractor. I thought she might be able to run different tests than what my traditional doctors could and might uncover something that she could help with herbs, etc. I really didnt think much of the acupuncture itself and wasnt sure I even wanted to try it.I had my first visit with Dr. Rozenn in January. We went through my entire medical history. She was the first doctor to look at my history (5 rounds of mono, 2 cases of chicken pox, etc.) and agree with me that something was not right, even if there wasnt an obvious cause to point to. We ended that session with an acupuncture treatment. Her style of acupuncture is very distinct and isnt widely practiced. She palpitated my stomach to find the areas that were upset and then used pressure points to figure out what was causing the distress and how to balance it back out. It was fascinating to watch. I was a mess of different issues.Almost immediately after this first appointment, I had an uptick in my energy for the first time in months. It was shocking.I continued seeing Dr. Rozenn on a weekly basis as she continued to treat my issues. On my 3rd appointment she was able to tell me that she believed my main issue was an inflamed liver that wasnt functioning well. The doctors later confirmed that I had a fatty liver about 2 months later!I returned to work part time in February, and have continued seeing Dr. Rozenn. She continued treating me with acupuncture, eventually adding in herbs and gentle lifestyle changes that would assist the process. She even treated some longtime sinus and migraine issues at the same time.In mid-May I was able to return to work full time and weve begun spreading out my appointments. Jan-May might seem like a long time to some people, but my diagnosis from my traditional doctor was that I might get better after a few weeks, or a few months, or a few years. Or I might not. And they really couldnt tell me why or what to do about it. To say I have been looking for Dr. Rozenn for eight years is not an exaggeration. In 2011, I was diagnosed with Leukemia. The healthcare I received at Stanford was second to none, I love my doctors, nurses, and supportive staff and I am grateful for all they have done to literally save my life.In 2013, I had a Bone Marrow Transplant and in 2014 I developed Graft vs. Host Disease in the form of Eosinophillic Fasciitis. My Bone Marrow Doctor did everything he could, drugs to treat the symptoms, physical therapy, he said this was a “crap shoot,” to figure out how to treat what was now impacting my ability to move, causing severe pain, and changing the way I looked. So many times I look in the mirror and what I expect to see is not what I do see.Anyways, on this twisty, turney road of well being I kept searching, searching basically until my hope was beginning to fade and the heaviness of accepting this is “now me,” was sinking in, this is what I am going to have to live with, and considering all things it’s a good life. I moved my body as much as possible, stretched, Physical Therapy, Myofascial Massage, cupping, you name I was doing all I could and was seeking help from multiple practitioners.I was speaking with my PT and she recommended Dr. Rozenn and that is when hope was restored and major progress in my body began. I have been under care with Dr. Rozenn for 7 months now dealing with the repercussions of endometriosis. She has made enumerable shifts and changes in my health taking me from daily pain and immobility to pain-free through acupuncture, herbs and diet changes. Words cannot describe how grateful I am to have found Dr. Rozenn! I was at my wits end after almost 5 months of extreme pain in my back and leg that was worst when I tried to lay down to rest or sleep. I was exhausted, stiff, and limping with frequent painful muscle spasms. I turned to Western medicine first. Doctors prescribed Norco, which is hydrocodone (an opiate) mixed with high doses of acetaminophen (aka tylenol). I was really concerned about opiate addiction, and the medication seemed to be affecting my memory. Eventually the high acetaminophen content started giving me stomach issues like heartburn, which I had never had before. I was written off as a chronic pain case and told to just take Tums. (I am a 29 year old working mom with an energetic 3y/o, so this was unacceptable!) I started taking the pills only every few days and just dealing with the pain. Meanwhile, Dr. Rozenns acupuncture treatments got me out of emergency-mode every time the pain seriously flared. I started seeing her weekly and she figured out, after recommending an MRI, that my problem was a heightened inflammatory response (causing nerve compression) stemming from an immune response to foods I was eating! I was already gluten and sugar free, so I was surprised, but she was right! I modified my diet while following her Liver Detox Program and now Im almost COMPLETELY PAIN FREE! AFTER 5 MONTHS OF AGONY! Dr. Rozenn and her associate, Hayley Jackson, LAC created a custom herbal formula for me and within a few days of taking it I literally went from dragging my foot to walking with a spring in my step! It works so much better than the Norco for pain relief. Dr. Rozenn is a miracle worker. I went from a health crisis to feeling better than I have in YEARS!
