My mom was a patient of Dr. Zito. He and his nurse did not have a caring manner. He was very knowledgeable and nice, but at times, he was cold and fake. His nurse was happy only at payday. My mothers care (breast cancer - ductile carcinoma) started in October of 2023, and she was better by February of 2024. The surgeon (located at St. Johns) wanted to do surgery, but the chemo doctor (Zito) pushed for more medicine. The doctors had very poor communication. My mother decided to go on and do more chemo. She became tired of going and exhausted. She died at the end of the month: February 29,2024 - of heart failure. Chemo is very drugs, but what contributed to her cause of passing was her age (she was 74), and she had kidney and heart disease. My main concern is that this facilitys only care is for money. They have a valet at the door, massage therapist, food, gifts, massage chairs, and so on. And constantly ask for money at every visit. She was sent bills weekly. Love of money extinguishes the love of people. I do NOT recommend this place at all for treatment. But some people have no choice. My mom was on fixed income, and this is the only place her insurance would pay for. If you are interested in going here for treatment, I would strongly suggest two things: 1. Do NOT choose Dr. Zito. And 2. Be your own advocate. Do not do everything that the doctor tells you. Take care of your own health - eat correctly, drink more water, stop smoking (and/or over- drinking alcohol), take vitamins, get adequate rest and exercise, control your stress, keep spiritually healthy, and keep your body and surroundings clean. May my mom rest in peace. And may your relative stay healthy and survive their battle with this horrorble disease.

The McAlester facility was amazing! So many caring, friendly faces. The transfer to the Tulsa office has been so smooth. We are welcomed by a smiling person offering a wheelchair. The check-in is easy with pleasant workers. If you ask directions, they get up and walk you there. Coffee is free and good!Cancer is a scary business but the staff gives their all to make you comfortable. One lady, Nikita, has been most helpful to us.

Have taken excellent care of my mother for 3 times shes been diagnosed (2020, 2021 and 2023). Dr. Jennings and Dr. Jones are very good to my mother. She took a fall at the facility a few months ago and they were quick to make sure she was okay and did a CT. Very grateful this place is here. Also, the valet woman (Bre, I believe) is the sweetest soul always making sure to grab a wheelchair for my momma.

I need someone from the Oklahoma cancer specialists and research institute to explain the policy of “no children under 12 in the building”. I need someone to explain why my infant wasn’t allowed to go to my wife’s dr appointment. A quiet well behaved baby was told to leave the lobby. If OCSRI responds to this please leave a name, extension and best time to call because we would really like to have answers.

Our daughter is receiving treatment here cervical cancer. We live out of town. We were in Tulsa last week, and had appointments every day to meet with the treatment team. Each of the appointments was rescheduled then eventually canceled. Today we were supposed to have a phone meeting with her patient advocate . Didnt happen. Our daughter has a life-threatening illness, and no one will talk to us. I can only hope her treatment is of higher quality than the communication.

My sister was referred here for pancreatic cancer treatment. She was told that chemotherapy would give her more “time”, but it did not do anything but make her die more quickly. Dr Zito was told she could not eat but gave her chemo anyway. This resulted in her vomiting constantly and made the nausea worse. She hardly took another bite.Get a second opinion if possible before listening to a doctor who gets paid by selling chemotherapy treatments. My sister was walking around until she took only two weeks of chemotherapy. She died 8 weeks later. The chemo did not give her “more life” as they claimed it would and made her miserable instead.Beware of all for profit doctors and cancer treatments centers as they don’t care about people’s lives just how much money they can make. Otherwise, they would tell us the truth about our situations and what is best for each individual and not encouraged to do something harmful to ourselves for their personal benefit.

Saw a lot of bad reviews for Docter Zito. They are wrong!!! He is from Australia. His wording, mannerisms and facial expressions are not American!!!He answered all my questions and my brother is the patient. He had a detailed plan of action waiting for us and took the time to explain every step of the hopeful outcome of the treatments. Including unfavorable outcomes to the treatments. If you cant understand his English-speaking, tell someone in a civilized manner and they will help! They deal with cancer patients all day. Dont expect them to be overly happy 😌

I have been a patient at this facility since 2021 and I honestly have not had the best experiences at this facility, particularly with some of the nurses. But with that said, both my new hematologist Dr. Scheckel, and their social worker Jason are phenomenal. I truly feel like these guys are in my corner and they are ultimately why I have chosen to stay.Edited 10/11/23: Nichole Sinko is one of the worst nurses that I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. In July, I requested a referral to a pain management doctor due to my condition, and I was told that they would not give me a referral despite reporting bone and joint pain, as well as erethyma in my hands, feet, and my face to their office for over two years now. My hematologist didnt refuse, the nurses did. Now Ive requested to have them send a refill for a medication that I have been taking for the treatment of pain related to my condition for over two years. Previously another one of my specialists was prescribing this medication to me but that provider has moved to another hospital in another state and I have not been able to establish care at their new facility yet. Nichole wrote me to let me know that they will not be able to refill the medication because it is a controlled medication. A Schedule 5 controlled substance... the lowest for abuse potential. Im not an addict, I have a hematological disease that causes me to live in pain every single day of my life. They didnt want to refer me out, but they also dont want to help me with the pain. Nurses like Nichole are the reason why patients who live their lives in pain ultimately decide to end their lives just to stop the pain.Edited 9/12/24: Since being reassigned to Dr. Scheckel after my previous hematologist retired, I’ve experienced a level of care that has truly made a difference in my life. I have a lot of medical trauma and often feel dismissed and unheard in healthcare settings, but Dr. Scheckel has consistently made me feel listened to and cared for. Earlier this year, when I expressed my concerns about how symptomatic I was still after getting to 4th-line therapies and told him something needed to change, he suggested a newly rolled-out medication, which has been life-changing for me. After suffering from daily symptoms for over three years, I finally have relief and feel like I’ve regained a sense of quality of life. I cant thank him enough for the compassion and expertise he’s shown me. He truly is a wonderful provider.I still have some frustrations around the nursing staff, but the nurse who has most recently been assisting Dr. Scheckel has been a joy to work with. She is really down to earth and quite hilarious if you ask me. My apologies for not remembering her name, its been a couple of weeks since I was there last. Also want to shout out Jason Davis again. He is one of the nicest people ever. He has helped me on a couple of occasions when I needed an advocate and also when I just needed a shoulder to cry on metaphorically speaking. He has such a calm, cool energy about him, and he absolutely listens and empathizes with my feelings, and sometimes thats all I need.Anyways Ive changed my star rating simply because of the people I mentioned in this review.

I am not impressed. My father in law had to do radiation. My husband and I had to come sit with my mother in law who is in the last stages of dementia. We come so she doesnt get up and wander off while hes in the back causing a bigger issue. But the lady at the front desk is rude and hateful and says theres only 1 visitor in the back. We have literally all 3 gone back every time for weeks now and the first and second to last time is the only time she chooses to say anything. Having worked at CTCA I am deeply disappointed in how we were treated. I tried to explain out situation but she had no desire to hear it. I will never recommend anyone coming here even though I have several friends working here. Every patient is different and needs different accommodations. At least take the time to hear them out and be polite.

We havent had a ton of issues however they do have a little bit of a hard time with the harsh truth and the reality of why we are asking for some of these things mark Olsen is by far my favorite staff. He does have a nurse however that has given some of these patients including my self a hard time with medication. I was able to get the matter resolved and Tammi was amazing in helping with it . My husband was, WAS a patient here. We have gone somewhere else. No one cares here about the patients, they only care about $$. These people speak to you like you are stupid. I took my husband to the ER, I followed THEIR directions and called to let the oncologist know. I asked to speak to the nurse, I gave names, of course they asked why I wanted to talk to the nurse and when I told her, the lady told me to push the red button on the bed. I explained 3 times why I needed to speak to the oncologist or his nurse. Again I was told to push the red button on the bed... wow! These people have no compassion. When asking the doctor for explanation he plays with his ring, on the computer ignoring you. His explanation makes no sense and he speaks down to you or just ignores you asked a question at all. We went to MD Anderson for a second opinion, found out the type of cancer my husband has is terminal after 3 years of care but, with the right treatment he can live for years. OCSRI doctor did not follow the treatment recommendations from MD ANDERSON, not even the immunotherapy. No explanation just a nurse telling my husband sign the new treatment plan or dont get treatment today while he is sitting in the treatment chair. I CAN GO ON AND ON. Bottom line if you want to be treated less than human this is your place, if you want to just be their paycheck, this is your place. IF YOU WANT TREATMENT AS A HUMAN THIS IS NOT, I REPEAT NOT YOUR PLACE. Dr.Zito is rude, self absorbed and has a God/ego complex. I want my husband to live and if you are like me take your loved one SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!! OH, if I call you I probably will be told to push the red button. So dont ask! This place lied to my father and our family. He was put through treatments and was told he had a chance. When the harsh reality was that he had 6-8 months to live. No one would tell us that. They just kept pretending he would be ok and get through the cancer. To top off the situation they let him ring the bell which signifies that he finished treatments and he was better. Very soon after he went downhill and passed away. I lost my father to this place who just wanted money. All they care about is the money in their paychecks. Please dont seek this poison treatment. Try natural remedies and try to enjoy the life you have left. The treatments made my dad basically non-human for the last months of his life. He believed they would help. Unfortunately he was wrong and I strongly believe people need to wake up and see the horrible reality of our healthcare system.

I have a sibling that has recently been a patient here.I cant say shes been treated, because it took 4 months from the first abnormal MRI image to introduction of a drug to control the cancer. The oncologist NEVER gave us a true assessment and prognosis, just how long some people have lived on this specific drug. At one appointment it was obvious she had not even read the chart. The day before, the home health nurse had said one of the patients lungs was not functioning well. The next day the oncologist only puts the stethoscope by the shoulder blade of one side...no lower..not mulitple locations..one spot, and says, the lungs sound good. Two or three times pain meds have not been called in to the pharmacy timely so my sibling has run out of med on a weekend. One time the call nurse said the on call doctor wouldnt do meds on the weekend. OMG! Really! Who is the one in pain?We have another oncologist now, a straight shooter that communicates very clearly what the path ahead is like.It seems as if they run too many cattle thru the chutes and just dont care.

The only satisfying thing about this place is the friendliness of the Valley Parking staff. I watch my mother ask the nurse to please be careful when introducing the quemo medication through her port they had no care, no love or passion for what they were doing, was much more like they were there for the check. If you don’t have the money to pay for the service or insurance delays you will not receive any service you are left to basically die. You tell them how you feel and literally they are not listening to you is more like “my job requires me to ask but I generally and genuinely don’t care” you are just another number, another statistic. She told us that she was going to do lab results that day and would see us in a week to give us the results. As she discussed our primary care doctor’s lab results, she wrote down the things she was telling us so we could see it and take it home with us. She told us to ask questions as we needed! When we came back the next week, she discussed her lab results and wrote it down for us again. Her lab results were what she had told us the week before that she thought they would be! OCSRI does not feel like you’re at a doctor’s office. It is very impersonal. The waiting rooms are all too crowded, I’ve been there when there was nowhere to sit. I saw the PA more than I saw my doctor. Once I saw them bring a women out to the lobby and say to her caregiver, “We are finished so you can water and feed her now.” That really bothered me. Another time they told a man his test results right in the middle of the lobby in front of everyone. The doctors I had were both smart, but the facility felt way too crowded and it was impersonal as a result. I would go somewhere that feels like you are at a real doctor’s office, where you actually see the doctor every time.

Please do your research when looking for a cancer specialist. My Dad was put through so many unnecessary procedures and we his family were given so many false hopes in his treatment. We could never get straight answers from Dr. Cole. We also could NEVER and I mean NEVER get a nurse or doctor to return our calls when we had questions. My Dad had stage 4 liver cancer with Cirrhosis. He needed his stomach to be drained of fluids many times, as it makes a person VERY uncomfortable. Near the end of his life, I called numerous times to get him an appointment for this procedure. I could NOT get anyone to call me back. The left hand (appointments) has no communication with the right hand (doctors and nurses). When your loved one is in complete pain and suffering, and after being frantic, explaining this to 3 -5 people at OCSR, we still couldnt manage to get him an appointment booked. We ended up calling 911 and taking him to a hospital for this. After the doctor FINALLY told us to take my Dad home to live his life with hospice, we were still getting phone calls for OCSR for unnecessary appointments for therapy he was no longer having. If you want great care for your loved one please dont go here.

I used to love this place for how well they were taking care of my mother when she first got diagnosed with stage IV melanoma cancer. Dr. Barman is an angel who spent days looking for my mother in the hospital as they couldnt find her because she was assigned to the wrong floor. His kindness and motivation to help my mom saved her life. He was able to get her on a treatment plan that was doing what it needed to be doing, however, their time was cut short as he moved out of state. We were so scared to think she wouldnt be receiving the same treatment and we were right. When he left, my mother was not being taken care of the way she needed. It felt like because of the advanced diagnosis, that they just saw my mom as a terminal patient. When the issues surrounding covid had heightened, it felt as though they were putting my mothers concerns and worries on the backburner, which is somewhat understandable, but at the same time, she deserved proper care and answers nonetheless. Because she was not getting the attention she needed, she sought out a second opinion and from there, everything went downhill. The doctors she was working with in Tulsa reprimanded her like a child. I am infuriated because they are being petty when this is a life we are talking about. They recently told her they wouldnt be able to do anything to help her because she sought out a referral to MD Anderson. There, the doctors are much more caring and attentive to my mothers needs. They arent making her feel like she has to choose who she sees for her treatment. Another thing that infuriates me is that OCSRI claims to have some connections to MD Anderson when that is not really the case. There is no communication between the physicians from either facility. I am thankful for the nurses who have helped my mother along with Dr. Barman, but the behavior displayed towards my mother from the doctors is inappropriate. Again, being petty about someones decision to seek a second opinion when they are not getting the adequate care is highly inappropriate, especially when it comes down to saving their life. For that, I will never recommend this place unless it is the only option someone has.

I then called and asked who could I talk to about this and the lady who took my call called up to Dr Golds office and asked them and they said that i needed to talk to my pcp or my counselor. Unfortunately that is where the good experience ended. My moms oncologist and radiologist had no bedside manner and it seemed like my mom was nothing but a number to them.Since they have merged with Saint Johns the scheduling and response times had become horrible. At one point my mom had to miss a whole week of radiation appointments because the machine was broken.I cant say for sure but I think part of the reason for the lack of quality of care for my mom was because she was using Indian healthcare. Honestly we were lucky she even got approval to get any treatment at all. Needless to say with Indian healthcare we didnt get a choice of where to get treatment.OCS allowed my mom to loose 60 pounds without ever offering to see a nutritionist or provide any help. She had gotten to the point to where she was needing a feeding tube. Unfortunately my mom passed away three months ago and I cant help but wonder if she would still be around if she had more attentive care from OCS.

My wife got her records after arguing with these idiots for about 3 hrs of waiting. People do your research on these Doctors and pay close attention to the reviews. Dont think these people care about you, its all about the more people the more insurance claims can be filed. Cancer institute are nurse practitioners and the main doctor is home at 10:00 am. Snotty nosed kids are who they are.

So far my son was told that I am over income to get any help with the centers services, so that it would be easier to afford it. That sucks but my main problem is although I am going to pay cash for his visits they will not call us back to set him up as a new patient. We have been trying for over a month, but scheduling does not bother to call us back when we call for appointments. He needs his port flushed, but all we keep getting is excuses for why they dont call us back. I am giving them one last chance.

Honestly not sure what to think. I seen Dr jenkins month and half ago and never have heard from them since. They are setting me up in McAlester to do treatments so I wouldnt have to drive back and forth to tulsa but McAlester is dragging their feet. These people are going to let me die before anything happens. Just stay on top if them is all I can say. Im not happy with my care right now.

I had dr. Buck. He is the most uncaring dr. Ive ever had. I didnt have insurance at the time and smoked a couple cigarettes a day. He asked me if i still smoked. i said yes. He threw his hands up and said why are you here? You dont even pay me so why should i help you if you arent even trying to help yourself. I got a full lobby of people that pay me and want my help. Then he walked out. Great facility but he sucks.

My doctor I see is very thorough, he takes time out to listen, very great doctor. The scheduling service is not a good service very hard to get through, The scheduling services doesnt even introduce themselves, I feel like Im being rushed off the phone when Im trying to ask a simple scheduling question, not a good experience with them. I would give my doctor a five star but the scheduling service is not good.

I am the grateful mother of an adult cancer patient. He has received phenomenal care during his diagnosis and treatment. Everyone treated him...and his family and friends...with great kindness and exuded professionalism. He is now through with chemo and is in the monitoring stage. I would recommend OCSRI to any of my friends and family who unfortunately receive a cancer diagnosis.

Doctors and nurses are awesome, unfortunately the calling in to cancel or schedule appointments is awful! I being a caregiver for a cancer patient feel this is a slap in the face for cancer patients to have to sit and wait sometimes ALL DAY for SOMEONE from scheduling to call patient back to address their scheduling needs. Unacceptable 😡

And when I left that day, the new sign was up - Oklahoma Cancer Specials and Research Institute!!! Thank you to the wonder group of Professionals. A good omen - Yes!!!

My 94-year-old father, who was in fairly good health after a frontal lobe stroke, was referred to OCS after a singular diagnosis of one melanoma (no metastases), and intimidated/bullied by his dermatologist to begin immunotherapy with 6 Keytruda infusions, one every 3 weeks. OCS generously offered patient assistance to cover all but $140 of the $23,000 price of treatment, so we agreed. His health began to decline within days, as he suffered whole body joint pain, increased weakness, and significantly reduced thyroid function. He would begin to recover the week before the next infusion. After 4 infusions, a CT scan did indeed show the original tumor had shrunk and we ended the infusions. But the devastating long-term consequences continued to debilitate his health, and my once-vibrant and active father passed away less than 5 months later. Officially NOT from cancer, but from the toxic therapies that were utilized. Most of the staff were very kind and compassionate, but we were reminded this is not merely a business, its a very profitable industry. The patients we saw - and the clinic was always packed - looked like death was minutes away. I will always regret putting this poison in my beloved father and destroying his quality of life in his last months.

Huge shout out to DR. ERIC THOMAS AND TEAM!!!! I would also like to think the entire staff at OSCRI for providing the most efficient and caring workmanship. Dr. Thomas is an outstanding physician, it’s rare to be placed in the hands of someone who is passionate in what they do and do it well. Definitely recommended!

I only give 4 stars because once theyve saved your life, I kinda feel like they drop the ball and life post cancer tx is rough. While I understand some follow up is necessary and more so depending on the type of cancer youve had. Honestly A) I cannot afford to go to the doctor and be told yep youre fine when I already knew that. B) I fought for my life not to spend it running all over town to doctors for follow ups. During tx they were amazing!! And I am eternally grateful that I do get to live my life.

Let me start with the positive-i know two people who have had good results with this place but had early stage cancer. Now for my experience with my dad. He saw dr jennings july 11th and was told he probably had an acute leukemia. He was approved july 12th by medicare for the bone marrow biopsy which was scheduled 10 days later. We had told dr jennings he was weakening rapidly. Dr jennings told him he didnt look like a 73 year old who was going to die at 74. Our family discussed what was going on with two internal med doctors who we know personally and both recommended immediate treatment. One even offered to admit him at st francis and have the bone marrow biopsy done next day. My dad declined because he felt dr jennings would take care of him appropriately. 3 weeks later my dad is dead. I realize this is an agressive cancer and prognosis is poor, however, had dr jennings and this institute treated this with the urgency it required maybe he would have had a chance at treatment. You are just a number here and they do not have any personal interest in whether you live or die. My recommendation is that, if you have an aggressive cancer, run dont walk away from this place and its lack of interest in your outcome.

I highly recommend OCSRI!They are very caring and compassionate. Starting at the Front desk where Alice, Tommie and the “ALL”of the staff greet you with kind words and a smile. To Dr. Strnad that is an outstanding, compassionate doctor and his staff. To Melissa and “ALL” the schedulers that try to work with your schedule. To Linda and “CREW” that make the Chemo. To Dana, Kayla, Michelle, Jay and “ALL” the other exceptionally wonderful nurses, that go above and beyond to treat you with dignity and respect at a difficult time in life. Last but certainly not least. Harley, Judy, Bill and “ALL” the other volunteers that make things a little easier with their smiles and words of encouragement! We thank “ALL” of the OSCRI TEAM for your love and compassion!! You are a ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ facility!!

Mt 85 year father was under the care of Mark Olsen. This dr didnt have the decency to be honest and upfront about my dads cancer from the very beginning . He withheld information from scans dad had and never told him anything about his cancer except for chemotherapy. After dad did 6 chemotherapy treatments another scan was done. Olsen said the scan showed no change in the cancer. Come to find out the scan actually showed new and enlarged tumors plus the spread to another organ. Olsen started immunotherapy with the statement that the cancer could be maintained like diabetes. This man knew my father was terminally Ill and never had the backbone to tell him.

Please listen, if you or a loved one have cancer and are treated here, you need an advocate. Someone who is monitoring your overall health condition and ensuring you get the treatment you need. If you have any other underlying health issues or develop any during the course of your chemo treatments with OSCRI, get to your other physicians/specialists and have someone with you who will ask hard questions and FIGHT for your OVERALL health or be prepared to do it yourself. Do not trust the oncologists at OSCRI to do that for you or your loved one. I give OSCRI one star, because they failed us by not providing any guidance, materials, or instructions on patient advocacy. It might not have made a difference in the ultimate outcome, but it mightve helped us feel less blindsided by it.

Skin was peeling like a snake horrible experience. I will never return there ever!!!!!!
