Planned Parenthood - Kalamazoo Health Center

Showed up for my first HRT appointment I booked online. I booked it 6 days in advance and when I get there the doors were locked with the lights on and when I called to ask what was happening they told me the location was closed. Ruined my day I was so excited.

Kalamazoo Planned Parenthood has been the worst experience I’ve ever had with any sort of health care. The first day I walk in the nurse is taking my hemoglobin and I’m explaining that I’ve gotten HRT from a PP in Wisconsin and she looks at me with a blank face and says, “What’s HRT?” Also it took me three trips to the clinic just to get my blood tested because they were either closed or confused by the queer specimen that was sitting before them. It’s now been 2 weeks since my first appointment and I’m completely out of my hormones. 0/10 experience.

I went to have a procedure done today and everyone was so nice even though I was extremely scared. Benny is the best nurse I’ve ever had and is an angel. I will never forget the level of care I had. They will take care of you.

I am so grateful for my staff and the team I had when I went! They were all so absolutely WONDERFUL in the process. Especially Benny! I was bawlingggggg and Benny and other staff just gave me such high level care. Like the absolute best 💛💕 Thank you all so much for making that experience so smooth memorable for me. It really meant the world. 🥹🥹🥹🥹

I just want to give a very good review for this clinic specially to the doctor she made me feel very comfortable & Benny was super nice and is truly a blessing to that clinic such a great personality and was very very helpful shout out to you your doing amazing and I hope you go very far in your nursing Journey.

Appointment was at 8:20am was in one room till 9:54am was one of the 1st patients seen today heard everybody that came in helped and out. After being in one room till 10am I was moved to another room to talk to the doctor to get done and wait 2 hours. The doctor who saw me at the start of my appointment walked in the room walked out and told the other nurses there was a black lady in the room that they put me in. Again I heard everyone that entered after me greeted and was told good luck and all. They left me in a cold freezing room. They claimed it was a medical emergency mind you walls are thin you can literally hear the nurses all just talking and laughing around and getting everyone else in and out. The nurse finally came in rude didnt apologize or nothing just gave me my medication and walked out.Worst experience ever!

Had my IUD placed here by nurse practictioner Diane and she did a great job making me feel comfortable and answering my questions. All the staff were super kind when I was dealing with a lot of pain after. Only wish there was some type of pain control offered for the insertion.

Having 5 kids and being in my 30s I decided to get a vasectomy, at Upper Peninsula urologist, I went in for an initial appointment. Upon reviewing the qh9(mental health) form, that I had filled out, they wanted documentation from my veterans affairs mental health provider. I promptly returned the paperwork, as they share the same building, and the urologist office never returned my calls or gave me another appointment. Their concern was over depression indicated on form which in no way is related to procedure and the VA had verified I was safe from self harm and being treated. Now what, I still need a vasectomy and the same company owns all the facilities near me. My wife called Planned Parenthood(kalamazoo) , 8 hours away, and scheduled me an appointment . The next month, I drove down, had the procedure on the same day, and for a very reasonable cost. My mental health was positively impacted that day, by being treated like a human and not some monster. Reflecting, 9 years later, I cant thank yall enough.

The lady on the phone was rude and snippy when I scheduled my appointment a month ago and on top of that, I finally got to my appointment and I finally walked out after not being seen and sitting in a room for damn near 2 hours waiting. I didn’t receive any updates or anything I just sat in silence waiting being ignored. Never again will I come to this place.Update: I was messaged after I left and I was apologized to. I was informed something urgent was occurring at my previous appointment and that it set a few people back and I will be giving this another shot.Update: VERY HELPFUL, my boundaries were respected, they got me in fast, kept me updated and I felt extremely safe. My reason for coming was well taken care of. Definitely recommend this place. I was here about a week ago and it was a bad experience, but they showed and proved that it really was just a bad day then. 10/10 as of today.

They took my money just to perform a incomplete abortion in 5 minutes. Still had to have surgery be in the hospital, etc. Do not recommend to anybody! Look around before you just settle for this place!

This place!!! Absolutely amazing staff and services. At an already stressful time and situation they made it so much more comfortable and just everything about them and services were just above and beyond. If I could rate them with higher stars it would be a 15 out of a 10..

I cannot put into words how amazing these people are!! Bent over backwards to get me into my appointment I was over a half hour late too!! The nurses are so sweet, so kind and so understanding. Zero judgment there!!! I just cannot compliment these staff members enough💖 10/10 would recommend this be the clinic anyone checks out!!

I went to planned parenthood and had a great experience with every staff member. They made me feel safe and educated and I left feeling confident about the decisions I had made for myself. My medical assistant was truly the kindest human being as well as my doctor. Planned parenthood gets talked about so much in such a negative light and I really think people underestimate what they do for people of all incomes! Without planned parenthood I wouldn’t be able to afford the medical care I needed this past month and they’ve been nothing short of wonderful. Every question I had was answered in an educational and professional way. They used terms I could understand and didn’t mind reassuring me or re-educating me. I appreciate every single staff member I met in that building and the kindness I received. Planned parenthood is where I will be going for my health services, thank you again.

Every single nurse and doctor I interacted with was so kind and made me feel comfortable. Bonnie was the best nurse I’ve ever had! I have never been cared for so well at any hospital or clinic.

Took a long time with a simple procedure as a pill I understand there are steps but it shouldn’t take an hour in between every step of my appointment very disappointing.

So many many things were wrong with my visit.I scheduled online for a procedure to Kalamazoo even though I’m not from here. I live multiple hours north. I did this because my local PPH didn’t do the procedure I wanted.When I showed up for my appointment, they told me they are currently unable because of Covid. Their website said nothing of it and let me schedule this procedure even though they were currently not doing them.So I rescheduled at Kalamazoo for another procedure which they were allowed to do. Since I had already taken this expensive trip 4 hours downstate. I figured I’m already here. Multiple days later I finally get in. Keep in mind I have been off of work for 3 weeks now because of delays in this whole process.So when you schedule an appointment they have you fill out several pages with personal information on it. Then when I’m checking in for my 2 pm appointment. They make you say all of your personal information OUT LOUD IN FRONT OF EVERYONE IN THE WAITING ROOM. It seems pointless to make you fill out the paperwork if they will make you say it all again.Some of the information they will make you say out loud in front of multiple people includes but not limited to:First and last nameDate of birthYour addressYour phone number (which I had to say nearly a dozen times because he couldn’t get it correct)Emergency contact name & phone numberHOW MUCH INCOME YOU BRING HOMEIt is extremely inappropriate to make everyone say this kind of information with strangers mere feet away in a silent waiting room. It is in violation of HIPPA laws and regulations.Then, they make you redo your paperwork during your procedure anyway. Making it all the more pointless to make you sign and read aloud.Also, I had an appointment booked for 2 pm. I actually go in to see them at almost 6 pm. Making it, again, pointless to have you make an appointment if they won’t even keep it.On top of that they let multiple people be served ahead of me even though I got there earlier than most of the others. Making me the last person they served.The nurses were nice, yes, but still gave me the wrong information. Such as how long it will take, why certain things happened to me, and she didn’t seem to know all the steps involved. They will make you wait multiple hours in multiple rooms.My procedure cost almost 3 times what it should have and I’ll never see a dime of it back. Simply because of their incompetence and unprofessionalism.Frankly, if you’re considering services at this PPH, just drive a few hours to a better location. I have NEVER had such a sketchy experience at any type of medical facility. Nor will I be surprised about my identity getting stolen from all the info you must rattle off in front of everyone.Good luck. Pick another facility.

Gratitude. This office provides essential healthcare services for not only the local surrounding community, but also anyone who comes in from out of state due to recent policy changes. I’ve never had anything but positive experiences with this office. And any reviews that discredit the function of this facility regarding phone interactions clearly come from those who don’t seem to take the recent/current policies in regards to reproductive health and rights into consideration.Please support this office and all of the people who are working hard to field calls there.

I was very hesitant to come here after reading some of these reviews but I am glad that I decided to find out for myself how it really is at this Planned Parenthood location. I needed my IUD birth control out and this is the only place I could find that would do that for me. The staff was extremely friendly, welcoming and clean. Nothing bad to say about it. xo

Amazing staff and customer service! They really work with you when you dont have insurance. They charged me according to my income and that helped so much! Sometimes you have to wait longer than you would like but its worth it when you are able to get quality care for an affordable price. When I was there I did see a guy that was VERY upset because the people at the front window wouldnt tell him what was going on with his girlfriend/wife. He was yelling and cussing. The lady at the window was so professional in telling him that she couldnt tell him anything because of patient confidentiality and privacy. Although he was being very rude, I was happy to know that MY information was private also and that they would also refuse to tell anyone, no matter who it is, anything about me or my care. It was good to see that they were obeying the law in that circumstance! I wouldnt hesitate to tell any of my friends or family to go to this clinic!

If i could rate this at a zero i would. This was the worst experience i have ever had at a planned parenthood. I was there a total of 4, almost 5 hours. I waited 2 hours to be taken back and have have blood drawn and levels checked. Then they told me to go back out and wait. Another 2 hours passed before i was taken back again. They FINALLY checked my blood pressure 6 different times on both arms (both upper and lower arms) before telling me i wouldnt be able to recieve the help i came in there for. The nurse had no idea what she was doing and had to call in a second nurse to do it. Such a big waste of my time and a disappointment in every aspect. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Unfortunately, its the only place nearby Battle Creek and Kalamazoo that offer the services that i went there for. Thanks for nothing. 👎

I’m all for supporting woman’s right to choose which is why I go to PP. But over the years the service has gotten progressively worse. There is always a 45 minute wait or longer. Once called, I was sent in a room where I waited probably another 20 minutes while I heard the staff outside cursing, laughing, and talking very loudly. I expect a place like this to be much more professional than that. She gave me a shot and handed me a piece of paper saying when my next depo was. I said, I wasn’t supposed to get a depo shot, this was my IUD appointment. I remember specifically because I put the instructions and dates in my phone in case I lost the piece of paper. She said well it’s too late now, so when you go up there, you need to specifically tell them you want the IUD. I thought in my head that’s what I said I wanted the last time and they gave me all the information I needed for that type of appointment. When I go to checkout, she told me they had no availability for the rest of the YEAR and that I need to call back at around Thanksgiving just in case someone cancels or some availability opens up, but if not, I need to wait until NEXT YEAR to get the IUD. I also don’t want the depo anymore because a friend of mine took it for 6 years and can’t have children which is why this appointment was so important to me.

Never ever again will I go through planned parenthood. Booked my services over a month out. Then couldn’t do the services. Still charged my an arm and a leg for whatever they did. THEN tried to book me another month out and doubled the price. This place was no help or comfort for a scared woman.

I had my merina IUD inserted here and was never followed up with when you should be followed up with very frequently at least for the first year and I was never contacted, not even once. I called to see when the date of my insertion was so that I could get it removed and they somehow have no record of me. This is the only place Ive ever gone so it seems completely crazy that they have no idea who I am and can not even help me enough to give me a date so I can go to someone else more organized and qualified. they said all they can do is give me a fax number and which I would have to try to get a medical release form for my information but they likely would tell me there was no information found since Im not in any system what kind of place is this??? Thanks for nothing! I guess Ill have to keep my fingers crossed that I dont get pregnant since they are the ONLY people who can give me the information I need.

I had a great experience here. The staff was more than amazing. They went out of their way to answer every question I had and make sure that I was comfortable. I would recommend this place to anyone!!!!

Staff work very hard. Advice is valuable, appropriate, and potentially life saving. Facilities very clean and private. Wait times due to lack of staff (read funding) = you need to schedule accordingly. Services rendered are professional and considerate.

Had a good experience. They were friendly. I went in for the first time and got an IUD. They talked though everything and made sure I was comfortable with what they were doing each step of the way. Thank you.

This place is absolute joke they play too much when it comes to birth control and there phone center is even worse. Someone scheduled me a week early and couldnt get my medication and now Im stuck having to figure out how to get birth control since I have no days off now thank you planned parenthood for making my life harder than what it already is I appreciate it

The staff was extremely helpful and so nice, Ive been to a few other PP in town but nothing compares to how passionate this location is with their customer service. Im impressed and will recommend this location to all my firends. Thank you Planned Parenthood!

Came here for a pap smear. They never specified on phone until the day of appointment that it was they didnt do pap smears until age 25. Really outdated. I ended up leaving and getting it done elsewhere.

Made my appointment a month ago. Drove an hour to get there. Was rudely told to find childcare for my 8 month old and reschedule.Id give it 0 stars.

Through out my time going here I questioned how these doctors got their degrees. They would say on thing, and my doctor said they were completely off. They are very careless and cut corners.

Called over and over for almost 2 months and NEVER got an answer. There’s no way from the time they open till they’re closed that they have “higher than usual call volumes” then they say you can leave a voicemail and receive a call back in 2 business days and that’s a lie. 0/5

I was really hesitant to come to this location after some of the previous reviews. The entire staff was great, they made sure I was taken care off my entire visit and went above and beyond.

The Planned Parenthood in Kalamazoo keeps on canceling my appointment for a copper IUD. That is so not good business!

I really hate I had to come here and I actually sat in a room for 3 hours and counting for some medicine I highly do NOT RECOMMEND

You sit for hours and only see the doctors for 15 mins all together.
