Anna Hoekstra, MD MPH

Dr. Hoekstra is the ultimate professional. She was clear in her assessment of my situation as well as in responding to the questions I had. She was genuine and sincere in her approach while navigating my care plan. I feel fortunate to have her in charge. Every person at the facility was kind and efficient in their job too. Overall, my experience was positive.

If I could make Dr. Hoekstra my family doctor, I would 100 times over. She was very friendly and explained everything in ways that were understandable. The facility was emasculate and very inviting. All the staff we encountered during our visit greeted us with a smile and were willing to assist with any questions we had. All in all, hands down, the best medical facility I have been to.

The most thoughtful and helpful doctor I have ever met. I feel incredibly blessed to have found Dr. Hoekstra. I would recommend her to anyone and insist on people close to me seeing her. I feel confident in her hands.

Dr Hoekstra is my favorite oncologist. She listens, she’s knowledgeable, if she doesn’t know the answer she will find out in a reasonable time. She cares about you as a whole instead of a cancer patient. I’ve been with Dr. Hoekstra ever since I moved back home from Tennessee in 2016. I’ve had several reoccurrences and she’s been there every step of the way. She is always up for another set of eyes on my case. I’ve had several second opinions and she has welcomed them with open arms and even sends the referral no questions asked.

The care I have received from Dr. Hoekstra has been and continues to be first class! She is a top notch physician and a compassionate care giver. Kalamazoo is extremely fortunate to have WMCC and Dr. Hoekstra!

I cannot recommend Dr. Hoekstra and her team more highly!! I have close friends that work at both Bronson and Borgess who also speak very highly of her as well, so I knew I was in good hands. You can really tell that they care about each and every patient that comes in their doors. She also helped bring me a tremendous amount of comfort and expertise at a very difficult point in my life. Dr. Hoekstra is wonderful. I was stage 4 cancer and during treatment there were a lot of ups and downs. She never gave up and was very caring all through my treatment and follow ups. I have now been cancer free for 7 years and am very appreciative for the care and treatment I received.

Dr Hoekstra and staff at WMCC were wonderful. I never once felt like my questions weren’t answered, Dr Hoekstra took her time with me making sure I understood everything we discussed. As a patient at West Michigan Cancer Center since 2019, I am so impressed with the level of care I’ve received. The compassion and skills that Dr. Hoekstra has shown is unmatched. Every visit I’ve had , I have her full attention and dedication. I have never felt rushed. All my questions are throughly answered. Her calm confidence is always assuring. We are fortunate to have a physician of such high caliber in our area.The staff is extremely organized with any detail I’ve had to face. They are on it! I’ve had the pleasure of being seen by Julie as well. Her positivity has carried me through many storms. The skill level at this hospital is top notch.I am a stage 4b cancer patient who has had completely clear scans since 2021.

I was ready to hate it due to the situation I find myself in. However, from start to finish I was made comfortable and spoken to like a friend would. Very encouraging and hopeful for a good outcome.

Dr Hoekstra has been fantastic helping me figure out what has been going on with my body for the last 5 years. Constant hospital visits and surgeries and she is the first one that is finally looking deeper as to why these things keep happening. Other doctors have just dealt with the problem at hand instead of helping me figure out the why.

Had a hysterectomy recently and Dr. Hoekstra was my surgeon. I was a high risk patient and she was amazing during our first visit, she wanted to know my history which included a lot. The outcome was great. It is no joke, it’s uncomfortable but Bronson hospital was also amazing!!!

Knows whats up!! Had endometrial cancer...was transplanted with kidney years before . No other doctor would even consider operating. Dr Hoekstra took the wheel . She was very confident, was not afraid to remove the cancer. Even called transplant surgeons to get the record so she could operate safely. I highly recommend her. Her education and experience obviously worked in my case..perhaps is yours?
