If I could give zero stars, I would. This charity is supposed to be supplementing tenant rents, but over the last 12 months have sent out 4 checks that have bounced due to insufficient funds. Our November rent check bounced, its been two weeks and no one in finance has gotten back to us and we still havent received December rent due on the first of the month (its the 16th). This organization is a scam and they are flat out crooks.

I’m glad they’re providing services but they act like you’re a burden or bother for coming in. I called ahead twice and the guy seemed like he was bothered I was calling in, told me walk in laundry and pantry was on Thursday.I come in Thursday and they call someone up to see me. The 1st lady is really nice but the second one also seems surprised I’m there and kind of short with me? She asked where i found out about them and I think said you can’t access community services unless you’re already a patient of theirs?, and they only serve HIV+ folks.I ended up just leaving embarassed and ashamed. The site made it look like you could do walk in laundry easy and that the space was welcoming to everyone. It has a picture of shelves of canned food for a pantry but when i got there they started throwing food in a bag without asking if I had any dietary needs and then the 2nd lady seemed mad when I said i couldn’t eat most of it. Like. I appreciate that they’re offering services but what’s the point of offering if you’re going to act like it’s an inconvenience?I need to do laundry and they were like well how long are you willing to wait / take or something.I’ve just never felt that unwelcomed somewhere and I’ve been to multiple community centers across the country. This definitely seems like some kind of closed word of mouth place and if you see the flyer at a clinic like i think i did and call ahead you’ll still be treated like you somehow dropped from the sky? They did offer me a gift card, didn’t specify where? To do laundry but i declined because at that point i just needed to get out of there.I don’t know. It was so weird. I really wanted / needed to get a black work shirt but i couldn’t stand to be there any longer i just wanted to shrink into the floor. It’s cool they offer services but you can also get tested down the street at planned parenthood.I wish I didn’t have an issue but that was incredibly weird and uncomfortable for me. It’s definitely not just a walk in community center, you have to know someone or register in it seems. The website isn’t really a good representation of what this place is in my eyes, especially because i mentioned the site says laundry is drop in and the 2nd lady acted like i said drop off and leave. I never did see the community closet but yea. I wish I didn’t visit, it has me feeling all out of place now.
