I could not recommend The Midwives more to anyone who is having a baby in Sonoma County, Napa, or surrounding areas! The benefits of experiencing a natural birth with women you love and trust are endless for both you, your birthing partner, and your baby. These women are so knowledgeable, kind, and professional. They know what to expect and give you all the tools you need to birth your way. My husband appreciated the emotional support he received throughout the process too. 5 stars all the way!!They provide everything that a hospital would provide in an environment that made me feel safe and in control. Like many women, I never felt comfortable or excited about the prospect of birthing in a hospital, but I also wanted to ensure I was providing the proper level of care to myself and my baby. The Midwives ended up being everything I could have hoped for and so much more!Paula and Jamie are two very, very special women who I am eternally grateful for. I couldnt be happier with the level of care we received and we are definitely recommending them to anyone we know who’s expecting and will be back if/when we’re expecting another(:

The Santa Rosa Birth Center is a very special place. Everyone who works there has the biggest heart. I have had two pregnancies and labor experiences with the birth center and one miscarriage. They have all made me feel super comfortable and well cared for. The fact they take medical and offer a birth center experience is a very unique and a wonderful thing.

The Santa Rosa Birth Center allowed me to have the unmedicated, empowering and beautiful birth I aspired to. The entire staff is wonderful, driven by mission rather than profit. They are very generous with their time and quite knowledgeable. So refreshing. Thank you to this incredible team for all the hard work and heart they put into the center.

Highly recommend. Like a home birth with complete medical backup- the best of both worlds! This was my ideal experience for the birth of my first child. The expert midwives & staff offer comprehensive prenatal care, delivery, and postpartum checkups (plus well-women visits, classes, a community... and more.) I felt completely supported and educated throughout my pregnancy, labor, and as a new mom.On birth-day, with their guidance I labored at home until we felt it was time to go to the Birth Center, and my son was born a mere two hours after I arrived. My delivery midwife, Renee, knew exactly how to position and coach me so the baby was in the most ideal orientation, and he came right out with no complications. The delivery cottage is cute and homey- it was comfortable for me and spacious for my attending family, who even had a little party while I recovered! I never felt like a patient; I felt like Superwoman! We went home the same day, empowered and elated. The optimism and care leading up to and throughout my labor surely lended itself to such an easygoing, natural childbirth. I am forever grateful to the women of the Birth Center and the wisdom they provide.

The Santa Rosa birth center and the amazing midwifes helped me to have the birth I had dreamed of. They took the time with my husband and myself at every single visit. They answered every question we asked with compassion. When the big day came they were a huge help in getting me through what was a challenging labor in the beginning. My little boy was in a funny position and I was in a lot of pain. With help from the midwives my husband and I were able to do what we needed to help our boy into a better position. I was able to deliver in their amazing tub of warm water with my husband by my side. After that we were beyond surprised at how much support they still offered. From the home visit to all of the lactation consultations I felt empowered as a new mom. I felt like I could do anything knowing I could reach out to the birth center for advice.I recommend that anyone interested in pursuing a natural birth look into this amazing place. They have a great team and will help navigate the chaos of the insurance world to best serve their new moms. The birth center gave my husband and I an amazing gift of having a great start for our little family.

I had my son Jericho at the birth center. It was absolutely the best experience Ive ever had. It was calm, relaxing, and everything youd want for a birthing experience. Hilary delivered my baby boy and she was just incredible. It was really perfect and I couldnt have asked for a better experience. Thank you to my birthing team and all the SRBC staff that took part in my prenatal care!

I was so incredibly blessed to have had my son with the amazing midwives at srbc. I drove two hours one way to make this a reality and am so grateful I had this opportunity in my life. I had the birth of my dreams with them, but in the safe space of the birth center with freedom to move how I wanted during labor. Ill never forget my experience and the support I had from the women there, who really held such sacred space during the tougher parts of labor. All women deserve this kind of care and birth.

I had my baby here 2 years ago best birth experience I could have asked for I have accompanied some of my family members at there hospital births and none have ever compared to the amazing experience I was so lucky to have.I am now pregnant with my second and really really just want the same experience but apparently they no longer do water birth at the birth center anymore. Debating having a birth out of this county due to the fact I can’t have my next baby here and I want a similar experience.

I hate to write this review but I wish someone else did before I chose this center. After looking on yelp, I see I’m not alone. We did not have a good experience here and ended up being over charged in a weird way. The center has repeatedly ignored or dismissed us when we asked about it. We didn’t end up having our baby here and the center billed our insurance as if we did. Even if we did have our baby here, according to our insurance provider, the copay would be $400. We prepaid over $1600 and they kept it all. So on top of being over charged, they reported the wrong services to our insurance and refuse to talk to my insurance to fix the discrepancies. The financial lady, Sasha, has been dismissive and rude when I asked for an itemized bill saying, “you don’t owe anything.”Eventually she sent one after I called and asked multiple times. Which is where we see the billing mistakes that they refuse to fix. There are some nice midwives and a couple of nice staff members, but for the most part people were not nice and very quick to try and shame or scare you into different things. We moved here when I was 6 mo pregnant and I ultimately chose this place because it was covered by my insurance. We should have gone elsewhere. Several locals have recommended other centers to us since.

I gave birth to my first baby 3 weeks ago, and cannot say enough good things about the team at the Santa Rosa Birth Center. I feel incredibly lucky to have been able to receive such personal, comprehensive and compassionate care during the end of my pregnancy, my labor/delivery and postpartum.I transferred my care to the SRBC at 27 weeks pregnant. Up until then I had been seen by OBs with Sutter Santa Rosa; while the doctors I saw were well-regarded, I felt like a number and that some of my questions or concerns were brushed off. I felt like something was missing, so decided to look into alternatives. I booked a tour at SRBC and a midwife spent 45 minutes with me discussing the practice, my pregnancy, and answering all the questions I had. I immediately felt at ease and decided to make the switch. Best decision ever!My appointments with the midwives were never rushed, and I felt genuinely cared about as a person. My questions and concerns were always taken seriously. The entire team there is wonderful and I will miss seeing them regularly. I hadnt previously thought that I could have a drug-free birth, but under the care of midwives I felt more empowered in my pregnancy and I decided to go for a water birth at the birth center. My baby had other plans, though, and I ended up in the hospital for an induction 2 weeks past my due date. The midwives are able to deliver at both Sutter Santa Rosa and Santa Rosa Memorial, which is amazing as you can still have the personalized care of the midwife team while in the hospital environment if you want or need that (as I did). The midwives oversaw all my care in the hospital, including my discharge, and then continued to check in with me daily for several days after I went home. Three days after delivery I was still having challenges getting my baby to feed and a midwife ended up doing my 3 day postpartum visit at my home....on Christmas Day!! She spent almost 2 hours with us that day, and I will never forget it because she provided so much reassurance and support at a time when I felt so vulnerable as a brand new parent. That kind of care is nearly impossible to find these days, and just goes to show you how much the SRBC team cares for their patients. Since then, Ive had a few more office visits and I have just one more scheduled before my postpartum care will be completed....but I will 100% be continuing my womens health care with them and will be working with them again when it comes time to further grow our family.P.S. Dont be fooled by the location -- its tucked away in a big commercial parking lot and I was a little skeptical when I first drove up to it since it wasnt what I expected for a medical office building, but the minute you walk inside it is so warm and cozy!

I delivered my sweet baby girl under the care of the Santa Rosa Birth Center just 5 days ago and am so grateful for the exceptional care they provided. Everyone from the front desk staff to medical assistants, nurses, and of course midwives exude warmth and kidness. There is a level of personalization that I dont think I could have found any where else. Even when my work changed my insurance in my third trimester, their insurance coordinator called me unprompted and walked me through every step of the process of getting my coverage sorted out, and made it so easy.My labor was not the smooth, fast, natural labor of my dreams- as a first time mom i was caught off guard by sheer force of it- and did transfer from the cottage like environment of the birth center to the hospital for an epidural. The team did everything they could to help make me comfortable without medications and at the same time fully respected and empowered me to make the right choice for myself in that moment.I had thought before that if I was in the hospital with an epidural, what is the point of having midwives care for you? How wrong I was! There were a few things that came up where being under care of an experienced midwife allowed me to take the less invasive route and have a peaceful, low stress, non traumatic, fully empowering, beautiful wonderful vaginal birth. And I also credit the good hands of my midwife with a delivery that resulted in almost no discomfort postpartum.Loved the care I recieved, easy 5 stars⭐️
