Planned Parenthood - Van Nuys Health Center

So grateful! I was able to get a service I urgently needed and was able to avoid hospitalization. The staff is so friendly and kind. Great service!

I had a scheduled appointment on 07/20 at 2:50pm and was told that they were available for a pap smear appointment. The girl at the front desk (Caucasian, tattoos, Medical assistant) was not professional. She also stated that if I had a pap done in the last couple yrs , I didnt need one and it was every 5 yrs. Additionally, I asked if I can get an STI screening done and she stated that I would have to wait an hour to get that done. This was just a waste of a drive and time. Wont be back anytime soon.

Was told I was good to do a walk in for emergency contraception and testing. Was turned away at the door despite me arriving at 2:25, when the person on the phone said all I had to do was be here before 330.Cool.

I am only writing this review as the medical assistant (Brittany P.) who was conducting my background questionnaire in a care room was extremely rude, unprofessional, aggressive, and abrasive. As soon as she left room, I burst into tears and directly gave my feedback to the nurse practitioner who treated me, who shared that this would be provided to the facility manager.Brittany definitely needs additional training in trauma-informed care and her interpersonal skills. I also observe her rolling her eyes when needed to assist holding a door for a disabled patient who was wheelchair bound. If you don’t want to work in a helping career assisting people - find a job where your attitude will match.I am only giving 2 stars because all the other staff members were kind, informative, and caring.

God I love this place, I always breathe a sigh of relief after every visit. The assistants and doctors there are so patient and kind. I appreciate and respect their service.

When I had my first appointment, it was good. I didnt really have a problem, and I always got an early appointment, so I wouldnt have to deal with waiting. I do feel like a lot of people end up having to wait, and most times, theyre understaffed, so a little patience, and you probably wouldnt walk into any problems. Also, consider that its in the van nuys area and its closest to most people.

February 2024: I got here at 12:47pm for my 1pm annual appointment. There was a line of people inside and a line of people outside, who all also had appointments. It was cold and wet, and I didnt bring a proper jacket because I didnt think Id have to WAIT OUTSIDE. Planned Parenthood in NY state was never, ever like this all the times I went. This facilitys website also did not advise to arrive extra early to account for the paperwork and the lines. Everyone at the facility seems fantastic, but I wish there was a proper notification of what to expect when you get here. Because of the lines on top of the paperwork, my 1pm appointment quickly turned into a 2pm appointment.Additionally, I originally set up this appointment as my annual exam, but developed other symptoms in the days between and noted that on my intake paperwork. The front desk told me I couldnt proceed with my annual exam because they cant do a problem with a preventative service. Part of me understands that for insurance billing and testing purposes, but Im upset because I now have to block off time from work to come again for probably yet another long wait very delayed appointment.

Went here during COVID. Walk in was until 2 pm or so, got there earlier and was still denied. The woman working the front desk was so rude about it. She was so mad talking to me that her eyes were bulging out. Her behavior was ghetto. Ridiculous, unprofessional, and will never return even as a referral from Kaiser

I had an appointment today and it was a comfortable experience. I was so nervous to show because I’m the type to look at the reviews before going somewhere lol but to be honest all the ladies were so sweet and kind and had so much patience and not just for me but for everyone that was there. Ashley was the one who got me my appointment literally the next day and was so nice on the phone. Fatima was a sweet heart gave me advice and talked me through everything made me feel safe. Thank you Fatima! The doctor there was amazing, super kind and funny too she made the entire experience very comfortable. I will definitely recommend Van Nuys location to my fam and friends. Thank you all so much!

I was treated with respect and all my concerns were addressed with care/compassion. Love this place!

Employees mocked my S.O. and continuously made comments especially cause she has difficulties swallowing pills. Comments such as youre wasting my time and laughing at us not being subtle whatsoever wth their rude demeanors I really think after shelling out money for their services we would be treated with at least an ounce of respect. The employees would be better off working at the mcdonalds down the street.

Planned Parenthood did an amazing job of taking care of my situation! This was one out of four clinics that I had called to get immediate care and this was the only one doing walkins thank God! I don’t know any other clinic that has prepared the way this one is, so glad that things worked out the way they did! The service was fast and everything was really easy to fill out there was nothing difficult or frustrating about getting help.

Came 1 minute late because I was looking for mask in car. I was a walk in. Nobody is inside and she says she wont take anymore walk ins because they stop taking walk ins at 3. I understand I was 1 minute late but nobody was in the waiting room. And if I didnt need a mask I would of been on time. Feel like thats kinda ridiculous.

I had an appointment here before noon today but didnt get seen. I was told while there that the wait time would be about 1 hour to an hour and a half. The staff is nice, but they are understaffed. I waited almost an hour before I ended up leaving.Dont go here. Only go if you dont have any other options for care, can get there early in the morning, and be sure to have an hour or two to spare to wait.

I am writing on behalf of my Fiancee. I only gave this clinic one star because the nurse was helpful to her. She spoke with the doctor on speaker phone, and he was dismissive of her situation while I listened to the conversation over a video call. She was crying as he told her she had high blood pressure and he would not be able to continue with the treatment she was in for. She was very nervous about her procedure, and this doctor did not try to understand my condiction. Instead, he went on about a condition I do not even have. My blood pressure was high due to me being nervous in a doctors office and not being in an environment where I felt comfortable, and the doctor did not try to understand this when I explained it to him. Moreover, he was so rude and was not even letting her complete the full sentence or let her complete her full question. He was treating her like she is a beggar coming for chairity. He had no compassion or will to try understanding her. He does not have patient management skills. She was taken care of the condition in another location with same blood pressure the very next day. Shows how incompetent and non considerate he is. I dont want to take the name of racist doc publicly being a dentist myself.

Whats the point of an appointment if you have to wait 2hours past your appointment time to be seen??? They wont see you if youre late but if theyre backed up its okay. Nope! Do better VAN NUYS!!!

Went in today and so happy with everyone I talked to. Fatima, my take in nurse, was so sweet and made sure any questions I had were answered.With an appointment I spent a total of 30 minutes here and got everything I needed.

The only reason I give this one star is because of Lucy. I’ll never forget how much she cared about me and made sure I was okay at all times. I suffer from Agoraphobia (severe panic attacks) and I had to muster up the courage to fly on a plane and come in for an abortion because of Texas new abortion ban. I’m extremely disappointed and disgusted by how the nurses and staff treat women there. They couldn’t find a vein so I was poked 6 times. They should have been made aware of the anxiety medication I was taking because I mentioned it when setting the appointment as well as it being all over my paperwork. The person who administered my medicine was grilling me and lecturing me about how long I’ve been on my anxiety medication and basically almost sending me into a severe panic attack as I’m on the table legs spread wide open. I told her I have a doctor at home. She had to nerve to ask if I get them prescribed and if I go to therapy. Like ma’am. This is the wrong place wrong time. I have never been more furious. The doctor was very concerned about making sure things were done right with me which I appreciate. This was however the most traumatizing experience I’ve ever had in my life. I’m still recovering. Also, get better front desk people. They were already yelling at 5:45 am right when they opened so I don’t want to hear about a long day at work. This place should be shut down.

First of all, this place is better than any other Ive been too.everyone complains about the waiting time, its like that everywhere, theyre not gonna assist u whenever u want to be assisted lmao.they have the nicest people ever, so comforting and they make u feel super comfortable. I went in today for a private reason , I felt scared of my appointment but they were nice and calm.. such good people than from my experience at other locations.quit complaining about the waiting time, i had to wait more at other places than here (cough, Canoga Park).

Any time I have to drive to the third world wasteland that is Van Nuys, it’s a bad time, but I had to book an appointment at this location to accommodate my school schedule. Got there for my specified time and was told there were still 5 people in front of me…what the hell is the point of making an appointment if I still have to wait 1-2 hours??? Ended up having to just leave cuz I would have been late for my class if I stayed. Thanks for wasting my fukkin gas! Never had this stuff happen at any other Planned Parenthoods…Do not go to this location if you value your time.

The wait time was a bit long but I understand about that because I work in the medical field. The nurses are really and as well as the doctors. Costumer service was really good and thats very important to have. I felt comfortable with everyone I talked to. I have been there two times already.

Very annoyed. The staff at the front was very nice however, I have been waiting for an hour and half past my appointment time and they were taking in later appointments after mine. I was on time and everything. I won’t be coming back to this location.

The staff are so nice and help you asap. It is always busy and appointments are definitely recommended but even without an appointment they will help you asap.

The wait was long, but I love the doctor and the nurses and the technicians. Everyone was sweet and I will definitely come back. A nurse name Brenda gave me a cute cat sticker for my phone and it was extremely sweet.

RUDE! the lady at front desk made me shocked! Front desk women with a nose ring should NOT work as a secretary anywhere. Horrible customer service.

I was denied services cause of my pre tax income. I bearly make a living and was asked to make an appointment just to be told you dont qualify now cough up $300 horrible people

The waiting time was awful, almost 5 hours till the procedure happen.

The wait was a little long,but to be fair i didnt have an appointment.The staff are okay,kinda have an attitude but there was this one staff who helped me out,literally the nicest woman.

I love coming here always recommend all my friends here. The staff is always so welcoming, specially the nurse Sandy. She is always very detailed and helpful.

Can not speak of this place in any sort of negative light. From the moment I stepped in, the time I left. I really felt like all the women there really cared for me and what I was going though. And I love a dr named rosa. She is a beautiful soul.

Having an appointment does not matter here. The average wait time is 2hrs & that’s with an appointment.

I was asked to be a chaperone and they kept denying me entry and i had to wait without any knowledge of what was going on meanwhile they were letting others back

Dont even bother. All Planned Parenthood are trash honestly! Wait time for an appointment is ridiculous. They even let you make an appointment online but good luck with hearing back from them!! Get some health insurance and go to a REAL doctor! Save yourself the trouble!!

Really nice experience. I got my HPV vaccines for free. Theres a little waiting but the nurses and doctor were super nice and helpful. Appreciate the free medical help.

Slow service. I had a appointment and was still waiting for 2 hours. Also went inside to receive results, had me waiting in line with one patient in the waiting room for over 30 min. 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼

This location takes forever. Even with an appointment.during my visit there was also a roach infestation in the main waiting area.

Go somewhere else, your appointment time means nothing. The wait is up to six hours after your registered appointment time. Insane.

The worst place you can visit is this one. I seriously dont recommend them at all. They are terrible service they provide here. I work in healthcare and I know its exhausting but we try to keep the patient happy and here its the last time I come here. My appointment was at 3 and I almost spent at 4. This place is horrible, thats why the companies are in demand for the people they put to work 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
