After a long search for a gynecologist that cares and is willing to listen and care for me I chose Atlanta Gynecology & Obstetrics of Decatur. The location is easy to find and conveniently located. They have ample parking. The staff is friendly and everyone treated me with a smile. The medical team took time to listen and answer my questions, Im happy to say that this is a great place for any woman to go to for all their gynecology needs.

I’ve been waiting to tell my story about this practice for a while. As a black woman that was pregnant, when came to this practice i asked if they were familiar with the crisis of black woman dying during child birth and wanted to know what they doing to prevent this as an outcome. I was told that they had black obs on staff and that they supported black women. But nothing beyond that.Nevertheless, a week after having my baby I found myself back at the hospital with high blood pressure. The OB on call said my blood pressure was ballooning and sent me home. Said to follow up with them in a few days. I did and my pressure was now reading 200/90. I was immediately admitted to the hospital for treatment. This could have been resolved days prior, but when I confront the OB that sent me home about it, her response was “she didn’t think I wanted to be at the hospital.” I never communicated this with her. Nevertheless, this made me an emotional reck. A nurse attending to me at the time confirmed what I was feeling, I had experienced medical racism. I have been to therapy because of this trauma and have switched practices to a clinic that truly supports black women. My advice is to be cautious of this practice .

I experienced both of my pregnancies and births with this practice. (October 2021 and April 2024)The most notable interaction and relationship that I wanted to mention has been with Diana (one of the midwives). She provides such immediate comfort when you start talking to her and it is clear how much she truly cares about her patients. She mentioned wanting to treat each patient “as if they were her sister”, and I felt that shine through during our interactions and conversations. She was my midwife for my second birth and I am so grateful for her encouragement and support throughout the delivery of our daughter. I also experienced some intense PPA and PPD after birth and she approached the conversation so perfectly. She listened to me with such genuine care and worked with me to discuss options to land on an approach/resources. I would be in a much darker and lonelier place without her and I am SO grateful for her. Thank you for the thought and care you pour into your patients, Diana. It matters and truly made a difference for me and my family!Note: I recognize that not every appointment or interaction will be “perfect” (e.g. long waits, not feeling like you have enough time for questions, etc), but I have felt supported from the various midwives and staff at this practice when it has mattered most.

All of the doctors, nurses, and staff Ive met over my 9+ years going to this practice have been excellent. Dr. McDiehl especially goes above and beyond. She always spends plenty of time with me, makes sure to answer all of my questions, and delivers information (the highs and lows) in a way that somehow feels like its coming from an educated professional AND an empathetic friend. Its not just that she has good bedside manner and can act like she cares—she truly does care. Im so grateful for the care provided by Dr. Mandeville, Dr. Oates, Dr. Bonk, Kia and Jabria (midwives) as well.

I have been to both locations of this practice. I have never had a problem until I visited with a health concern. There was zero effort to try and understand the problem I was having and the only recommendation was birth control… which has nothing to do with the reason for my visit. My doctor did not take the time to explain possible side effects or hear my concerns… She gave me a website to read if I had questions. Horrible experience. Do not go here if you have health concerns and want a doctor who will help you figure out what is going on.

The doctors and nurses are great - IF you get to see them. On multiple occasions I have been left to wait in the waiting room for over an hour. Yesterday I went in for what should have been a quick follow up appointment from a procedure, and I waited an hour before finally just leaving. I never made it into the exam room. I am not writing this to be mean or even because I am angry, but because I am hoping that someone will see this and changes will be made.

Amazing experience until I met the provider. The staff at the front desk who checked me in, individual who did my triage & also individual who drew my blood were absolutely amazing. Unfortunately my visit with Lizette was one of the worst visits I’ve ever had with a medical provider. None of my questions or concerns were asked, answered, or addressed. However my decision on receiving blood products was the only thing discussed. If you desire patient centered care chose another provider or practice.

The only feedback I have is I felt a little rushed off and dismissed when contacting your nurse triage on 4/10/24 at 3:56p. This is my first pregnancy and naturally a little anxious on what to expect. I came in for my very 1st visit on 4/5/24 and one of the things mentioned in my care sheet was to contact the office FIRST if I have a fever over 100.4. Over the weekend 4/5/24-4/7/24 I had been experiencing an up and down fever along with cold/flu like symptoms, the highest getting to 100.9. I called the aftercare line on 4/7/24 at 10:04 am to get advice on treatment; I was told by the on call doctor to just treat the symptoms and if my fever lasts more than 10days to follow back up and then maybe they can prescribe some type of antibiotic if needed. Again I was just told on my visit on 4/5/24 that a fever can affect my baby, but was told from the on call doctor that if fever lasts more than 10 days to f/u. Nonetheless my fever broke but I still have been experiencing a bad cough and congestion. I sat an appt for a virtual visit with another pcp on 4/10 in which I was told they could not see me due to liability of being pregnant and to call my OB. I followed up with the nurses line at your office on 4/10/24 3:56p; felt a little rushed off when explaining my situation; she cut me off in the middle of my sentence and said I would just need to go to the hospital or urgent care because I may have bronchitis and it could effect my baby. Again this has been going on for 5 days now and this is the first time being advised to go to urgent care or hospital; even though I was told to call you all first. A little unsettling.

I am an established patient at this practice. My first visit went great and I really liked my doctor (the only reason I am giving 2 stars). However, I have repeatedly called almost daily for last 2 weeks to make an appointment, left messages, and even filled out an appointment form online - no response or contact with anyone. As a patient that will be looking for OB appointments, this is extremely concerning and unfortunately will make me go to someone else.

I was very pleased with my visit at Atlanta Gynecology and Obstetrics in Decatur. Annual gyn visits can be a lot sometimes, but the entire experience was amazing thanks to everyone involved: from the scheduler who took my first phone call to schedule a new patient appointment, to the front desk checking me in, to the medical assistants taking my vitals and samples, to Dr. McDiehls inclusivity, patience, and thoroughness, all the way to the checkout process. I also really liked the location as the parking area was very easy to navigate and the exam rooms were smaller but more comfortable for me. Everything made this a true safe space - thank you!

It’s so crazy how this place deleted my review to make themselves look better. I actually stopped going here due to being racially profiled when I was expecting during the pandemic. The X-ray tech thought I was just an uneducated and unemployed woman. Meanwhile, I was pursing a doctoral degree while working full time. But was out of work due to Covid. Once I notified her of how educated I was her response was “oh you’re a smart cookie.” Every time I attended my appointments or called the nurses line I felt unheard and rushed. Especially with me being a first time and not knowing what to expect. In addition to being pregnant I had other issues going on and didn’t know until delivering my baby that the issue that caused me to come to the doctor more often was ignored as well because no one told me that issue had increased. I honestly wouldn’t recommend it here especially if you’re a woman of color. I was referred here and me and the person left.

My experience has been horrible!! I will arrive at least 5 minutes early to be on time and my visits will be over an hour, usually I’ll wait and not complain. However after repeatedly having to sit and wait at now 40 weeks pregnant for almost 2-3 hours to be seen to walk out and see my doctor talking to what I’d assume was a patient on the phone she claimed it was an emergency call. Noticing I was walking out she tried to explain and talk to me about her reasons for being so late, I dismissed her because this happens at every single visit. Now this is just my experience that I’ve had at this location. My thing is that if for whatever reason a doctor could not meet their patient at a certain time then it should be communicated, possibly another doctor could come and stand in their place or give the option to reschedule so that the patient and doctor can meet ON TIME! They called back after I left to apologize stating the office manager wasn’t in and plentiful of more unacceptable excuses, sorry’s, asked me if I could come back same day. I refused because I have other appointments to get to. The doctor name was Dr. Amy I would not refer her to anyone I know personally.

I spend a fraction of the time in the waiting room as I did at the last practice that I moved from, and the staff are super friendly and helpful. An interesting thing to note is that when youre receiving prenatal care, they have you see every practitioner leading up to your delivery date so that whomever is on call when you go into labor will be a friendly and familiar face.

I have been coming to this practice for 30 years and theres good reason. They have nothing but the best doctors. I was first referred to Dr. Julian Feurst (retired) as a teenager (16yrs old) and he was the 1st Dr. to take the time to explain in detail in lament terms using diagrams and hand drawn pics what was going on with me. I was sad when he retired but was left in good hands. From Dr. Arzu to Dr. Meyer-Carper whose determination to help me thru a medical mystery was reassuring. An Atlanta Top Doc, Dr. Mandeville, safely delivered my son. I finally encountered Dr. Entrekin (recently retired) who had been at the practice the entire time, and she was a blessing. She took care of the entire woman, not just gyn/ob. Nurse Lizette Persky, who has also been there since my beginning there, is just as knowledgeable as the docs, I think. She is top notch. Now, my current doc, Kristin Oates, is living up to the excellent care standard of this practice. My recent visit with her proved that Im in great hands and she is the perfect doctor to get me thru my newly discovered perimenopause journey. The only disappointment you will ever experience is the day your doctor retires, and maybe a test result you didnt want, but theyll get you thru it.

I’ve been going to this OBGYN for about 9 years now, since my daughter is 8. This place: the nurses, the doctors, the entire staff make you feel seen and heard. The nurses are a hoot and I always have a good icebreaker laugh with them during blood work. I always leave out of here (no matter what concern I’ve come in with) being more educated and knowledgeable, and knowing my options and/or next steps. To be a bit more personal: I had a very emotional time at my last appointment because I was still conflicted about the birth control we were about to implant and had just gotten into a heated discussion with my partner prior to my appointment. Not only was I occupying a room at that point, they had the numbing injection and the birth control right there ready to go. I even had my napkin blanket on and legs in the air!! Lol. Dr. McDiehl sensed my frustration and angst, let me finish my ugly cry and told me she didn’t have to insert the BC right then if that wasn’t what I wanted. Her and the nurse were so gentle and patient with me, even though I felt like I’d just wasted the appointment, they didn’t make me feel like it. Not one bit! She was happy to give me time to reflect on my decision. Now here I am, over a month later, about to head to the appointment after much more consideration and research on my part, knowing I’ll be in the right hands with her. Also, my midwife Julia always made me feel so validated during my pregnancy and I loved how personable she was. I was hoping she would be the Dr on call to deliver my daughter but she still stopped by the next day to visit us!You really can’t go wrong with this office and establishment. I’ll never leave!

Writing on behalf of my wife: The staff at checkout and the ultrasound persons were rude and lazy. The doctor was 45+ mins late, when I needed to an ultrasound, I waited 10 mins only for the ultrasound person to tell me rudely to make an appointment for Monday. Why? because she just shut down and wants to go home. When I went to make an appointment, they can either take me on Monday 8/14 or 9/21 when I am fly out of town for two week. Instead of finding the next availability, the nurse kept saying if you could come on 9/21, we would be fine... NOOOOO I am not to cancel my flight because you are too lazy to look. She then asked someone to find an appointment for me, this other one said oh I just shut down. She first one asked multiple times about 9/21. I asked to see another provider to get a faster appointment, I was told no. After 20 mins of this, I shouted when the office manager came and asked the same questions all over again and asked me if I wanted to make an appointment with another provider!!!the incompetency of the staff at the appointment desk is beyond belief.

Black maternal health starts at the beginning and it includes mental health. A few months ago at my 8 week ultrasound Lizette told me my baby didn’t have a heartbeat like she was telling me she was out of yogurt. She was cold and rude. If it wasn’t for the new midwife, who happened to be shadowing her, interjecting and saying “how are you doing with all of this”, there would have not been an ounce of compassion in the room. Lizette actually asked me if this was a wanted pregnancy, as if that matters. She should have just offered options for next steps. When I asked to have my beta levels check in series to see if they were going up she responded, “that won’t change anything”. I’ve been in the healthcare field over 15 years as medical technologist, working closely with physicians in oncology and infertility clinics. I get there’s no perfect way to give a patient bad news, but you at least try.I also must add that the ultrasound tech was also very cold when I arrived. My partner was out of town so I FaceTimed him. When he came on he said good morning and she immediately said that I would need to mute himself. This made absolutely no sense because if he was there he would be speaking and there was no noise in the background. The office manager did reach out to me after my complaint and she was very pleasant. She said that this would be addressed and sensitivity training would occur. However, I did not return to the practice after this appointment. I found another practice where I was treated with warmth and compassion. After 3 weeks of additional scans and checkups my pregnancy did not end favorably. I called in to make a complaint with the manger Barbara Goldsmith and while explaining to her what was going on the phone disconnected (I think she hung up) and I never received a call back. She told me she didnt have time to read my bible of a record, and would get to it later. Then she rushed through some questions about my past medical history and medications, and when it was time for the exam, asked the nurse to give her the scraper. REALLY?? How unprofessional, Im pretty sure whatever tool you are using for gynecological exams is not called a SCRAPER. She finished the exam and hurried me on my way, still no smile. There is more, but I believe this is enough information on her unprofessional-ism. I found her bedside manner to be very cold and off-putting. New patients, look elsewhere because they already have more patients than they can handle, unfortunately and no one will ever call you if you have a need as a patient. This is my 2nd yr here and I scheduled an annual simply so I could get an IUD after taking a break from having one after my last one. The soonest appt was 4 months out, that’s okay. After the appt, the front desk said they wouldn’t schedule the IUD appt until they called my insurance and confirmed it was covered and that someone from the office would call me within 3 wks to schedule it. I’ve never done that before because it is covered by insurance but okay, I waited a month for anyone from the office to call me. Left a voicemail after 4 wks, no one even returned that message. Sent a secure msg through the patient portal, no one called me or wrote back. Called again at 5 wks and made the appt myself even though front desk asked if anyone contacted me yet about insurance and I said nope. 1st appt open was another 3 months out. Okay, fine . About 3-4 wks after the blessed appt finally happened over half a year after I’ve been waiting, I called and left a msg for the nurse line about weird side effects I was having. The nurse line msg says they’ll call you back within 48 hours. It’s been TWO weeks and I still haven’t ever gotten a phone call from this office about anything other than appt reminders. So if it’s on their time, they’ll contact you. If you have an actual need as a patient, no one will ever call you back. Go somewhere else, they don’t have enough staff or time for you.

Their warmth and their empathy for the patient experience made me feel very comfortable. Two details: the phlebotomist who did my weight/height and pricked my finger mentioned that she tries to keep the experience as painless as possible. And as I was brought into the exam room, the nurse mentioned that they try not to leave patients waiting in gowns very long. Waiting in a drafty gown is no ones favorite. And true to their word it was just a few minutes before I saw the doctor. Each comment was a very thoughtful detail...just acknowledging what the patient experience is like. For the staff who work there everyday to be able to see each patient as an individual rather than a routine is impressive. I look forward to my next appointment.

I usually dont write reviews, but I wanted others to know that this is not the place to go if you struggle with infertility or pregnancy problems.I went to them last summer on the recommendation of a friend. What started out as a good experience turned very sour very quickly when I miscarried with my very first pregnancy. With how many women are miscarrying these days (nearly 1 in 4 and skyrocketing even more recently), the staff should have a well-established approach to care for women who face infertility or who experience pregnancy loss. When everything was going great with my pregnancy, my visits to their Lilburn and Decatur offices went smoothly and I had zero complaints. However, as soon as I miscarried, the support staff and some of the doctors seemed to have zero special training on how to handle such situations with care and compassion.(One of many examples is Dr. Kay Entrekin explaining that the reason I miscarried was because I had moldy eggs -- at 31 years old)There are so many scary issues women can face during their pregnancy, beyond miscarriage--and unfortunately this facility is not the place to be if your pregnancy turns out to be anything less than perfect.PS Since this review has gotten some attention, I wanted to add a brief caveat: the tech who did my last ultrasound was so gentle and compassionate when she told me there was no longer a heartbeat. I cant remember her name but she definitely deserves credit for being the single bright spot in my whole experience there!PPS I am pregnant again and started going to Gynecology and Obstetrics of DeKalb and have had a much better experience there so far! She scanned me for a total of 13 minutes (my husband recorded the facetime call) and told me she couldnt get a view of the spine. She only tried to have me change positions to my left side once for like 1 min, but didnt try anything else. Then, I met with the OB and she told me the US tech couldnt get a view of his spine, face, hands, and kidneys. As someone who works in healthcare, I know it isnt always possible to get everything in these scans and can accept that, easily. However, I would have appreciated a lot more effort to do so.As a result of my incomplete anatomy scan, I was referred out to Emory for another scan. This scan took about 40-45 min WITH babys total cooperation. I was then billed $600 for this additional scan in order to have my anatomy scan completed, which is extremely frustrating when there was *VERY* minimal effort made by the US tech at Atlanta GYN & OB. I know the anatomy scan appointment slots are surely longer than 13 minutes...I made the decision to switch practices after this because I feel as if though I was wronged by the practice and I now have a nice bill to show for it. I tried to address it with Atlanta GYN & OB, but they were less than apologetic.

I don’t plan on ever returning to this practice. I found out that I’m having my first baby and I’m currently about 7 weeks and 4 days along and I only had 1 appointment with this practice before they dropped me as a client because they don’t accept my SECONDARY insurance. I had given them my insurance 3 times before they decided to call me TEN minutes before my second appointment (for my ultrasound) to tell me that since they CANT accept my secondary insurance that they have to cancel any prescheduled appointments and that they WONT be able to see me as a patient anymore. The primary insurance that I have is United healthcare which they accepted but they claim since I have already logged that I have a secondary insurance as well that they still wouldn’t be able to continue my prenatal care. The worker who called me told me that “I would have to drop my secondary insurance for them to only use my primary insurance”. I had to ask to speak to an office manager who decided to tell me that I should apply for pregnancy Medicaid. In that moment I understood that their worries were about me being able to afford their care. I wish google allowed you to add videos cause luckily I recorded the call. I suggest that if you have any coverage and a primary and secondary healthcare that you should search for a different practice because they won’t accept it.

I had a terrible experience here with my first pregnancy. I called to schedule my first ultrasound for 8-10 weeks and was told to come in from a “confirmation of pregnancy”. They charge a $230.00 fee for the visit alone (in network) plus the usual test fees. They do not tell you this. I received a sheet with information dated 2009, the emergency line, and about 3 minutes with a midwife. 2 weeks later I needed to use the emergency line, waited the amount of time they said they’d call back by, and never received a call back. Instead of continuing to wait, I had to call the office and request an ultrasound because I believed I was miscarrying, which in fact I was. The bedside manner from the ultrasound tech to the nurse was so cold and lacked compassion. I left the office thinking that was all I would experience, with no idea what I might go through the next few days. What was already horrible was made worse by this office. The only person in that office who seemed to care at all was the woman taking my blood at the end of the visit.I am at a different doctor for my second pregnancy and after seeing the difference in care between the two places, I felt it important to tell other woman to keep looking.

I do not know how to say enough how much I appreciated and cherish the doctors and midwives here. I dont have any babies, but I do have other needs that go beyond a yearly exam. Sabrina, Dr. Duncan, and Dr. Oats are outstanding clinicians and humans beings. Is it perfect in terms of time management? Not always. Do I have I advocate for myself? You betcha- thats how doctors offices work (theyre humans, not mind readers). Do I feel respected, loved, accepted? Without reservation. Is this a group of B.A. women who support other women? Without a doubt. Have I ever had a less than ideal visit? Sure. Same goes at my PCP, dentist, the post office, my job, the grocery store, and life in general.Im grateful for this place and the consummate professionalism and understanding of my needs as a woman. Would not go anywhere else.

If you are like me and are not a typical patient, this practice may not be for you. While they are clearly competent and experienced, I was met with raised eyebrows and outright condescension. I transferred to this practice after 20 weeks gestation. I’ve been given conflicting information and prescribed medication simply due to my skin color being one risk factor and no other risk factors being present (i.e. preeclampsia). I feel that I’ve received negligent care. When I asked for the manufacturer insert for the Tdap vaccination, the nurse questioned my methods in trying to obtain information so I could give my informed consent. The appointment before my birth/labor talk, I asked Dr. E what would happen if I were to labor at home and she said, “is this your first pregnancy? That will never happen.” And walked out of the room without answering my question. I did almost have my daughter at home due to this being my first pregnancy and not knowing the signs of labor that I was experiencing. My labor talk was cancelled at 37 weeks due to the provider being sick. This caused me concern because separate from the labor talk, I thought I was to be seen every week and no arrangements were made to try to make that happen. At my 38 week appointment, Amy described membrane stripping as a procedure that can be done while checking the cervix. Having my cervix checked has never caused me any discomfort so I agreed/consented. She performs the stripping and I’m almost running away from her on the table-she doesn’t stop and my actions show that this is no longer consensual. Later that day, I begin bleeding heavily-she did not mention any after bleeding or other side effects-only that it could jump start labor. I go to the hospital and am told to monitor the bleeding and that I should’ve been told that bleeding can occur with this procedure. The bleeding gets worse and I have intense surges-I went into labor and had my daughter safely, thankfully. When being discharged from the hospital, Amy inappropriately comes to my room to try to “justify” and “explain” the membrane stripping to me and finally stumbles upon saying that she doesn’t want me to think my decision to do the membrane stripping caused me to go into labor or potentially have any complications. I don’t know what postpartum woman wants to discuss a traumatic experience that led to the early birth of her child during discharge with the provider that lost consent, didn’t ask necessary questions or give necessary information, and then puts the blame on the patient.I also lost a lot of blood during my delivery and was told to come to the office within a week to get my hemoglobin checked. When I got to my appointment, they thought it was my 4 week postpartum visit and knew nothing about the hemoglobin check. I don’t if my records weren’t read before my appointment or what but had I not questioned the nurse’s instructions and brought them up to speed, I think I could’ve experienced another traumatic experience. The midwives I’ve had positive experiences with include Sabrina (she delivered my baby and was an awesome coach), Kia, and Julia. After my 4 week postpartum check-up, I won’t be returning to this practice.

My favorite doctor was probably Dr. Oats. She was the on call doctor the day my water broke and was absolutely wonderful.BUT I have to say... Dixie was amazing. I have had a great experience with Atlanta Gyno. I love the fact that they have midwives who help with care of the whole person. They are not only concerned about the physical person, but the emotional person as well. From day one Valerie has been an amazing midwife. I knew as soon as I met her, that I wanted her to deliver our baby. Dr. Oates was awesome in her care for me as she ended up having to give me a C-Section so I had both of them by my side in the process. A pregnancy after a miscarrage can be a scary thing, but they helped the process with their positive attitudes, love, hugs and smiles. They also were able to tell me the truth and let me know what to expect up front. The nurses and assistants were great as well. Debra and Linda, I cant remember all the names. I never met someone who had so much fun taking my blood and actually convinced me that it was a fun process! My whole experience was made better by just having pleasant women to deal with. I almost forgot, Dixie was apart of the process as well. She was genuine and kind. Professional yet down to earth. I will forever be connected to Atlanta Gyno!

You have to leave a message and you may or may not hear back. I called for some anti-nausea meds for pregnancy and it literally took them four business days (six days total!!!) and at least three messages to get the correct drug and dosage called in. I never write reviews. ever. i hate review writers, generally. But this is for womankind, dude. Ive been a patient here since I was a teenager (currently in mid twenties). It was fine for just run of the mill annuals. But if you have a question, dont expect an answer. I just got off the phone with Nurse Eleanor who was insanely rude to me, legit acting like I ruined her day with my question. Yeah, maybe she was having a bad day...but Ive had numerous other nurses here also be equally as rude. In 2015 for my yearly check up I asked for a full STD screening, to which the intake nurse said but youve been in a relationship for months, why do you need a test. Excuse me? Why is that your business? Its not. If youre cool with that atmosphere maybe this is the place for you. But if you value your dignity and want your healthcare professionals to treat you with respect I would say look elsewhere.

I am not one to leave bad reviews, but I hope this saves somebody a lot of grief. This was my first and hopefully last experience at the practice. I scheduled an appointment because a Pap I had gotten done with my PCP showed signs of HPV and she recommended I consult a specialist. When I arrived, I had to wait a while to check in but I was happy to see that adequate safety precautions were being taken in light of COVID (the only reason they get 2 stars instead of 1). The front desk staff was kind enough. But when I was taken back to get a urinary sample, the nurse was impersonal and did not give adequate directions and the bathroom was missing pertinent supplies. For my Pap, I saw Lizette Persky. She knew the reason for my visit was to follow up on the HPV that had been detected one year prior (thank you Ambetter for making it near impossible to find a gyno in network). We decided to screen for HPV as well as a few other STIs that my insurance covered. To say the exam was awful is an understatement. Persky barely warned me before shoving the speculum in my vagina. After I thought the exam was over, she said NOTHING before shoving her hand into my cervix so hard I lurched off the table. The procedure (which Ive had many times before without issue) felt wildly invasive and ended up giving me a full blown panic attack. There is no excuse for being a gynecologists who is not trauma informed and unable to be sensitive to patients varying levels of comfort. After my Pap, I got bloodwork done (while trying to hold back tears and that lovely panic attack). I explained to the nurse that I have a fear of needles because as a child I had to get regular bloodwork done by a nurse who would stick the needle in under my skin and then fish around for the vein. I requested that if she could not get my vein on the first try, to please remove the needle and try again on another vein rather than fishing. What did she do? She stuck the needle under my skin, fished around, and scrapped the outside of my veins for way too long before finally getting the needle where it needed to be.Thats when my welling tears really became visible. Persky seemed to finally take notice but instead of asking if I was okay, she just watched me. She stood and watched the nurse fumble with the needle and watched me look away from the needle and take deep breaths. I understand that she probably didnt know what to say but just watching was not the move. Now for the worst part: months later, I get a call from the office saying that they got my Pap results from my PCP finally but that Atlanta OBGYN never tested me for HPV so Ill need to come back in for another exam. WHAT?? The whole reason I made an appointment was to retest for HPV AND YOU DIDNT TEST FOR HPV?? Excuse me?? Thats a pretty egregious error. The nurse on the phone explained that at my age, they only test for HPV every 3 years which I was aware of but she should also know what once HPV is detected, youre supposed to get screened for it every 6 months to 1 year. It had been a year and I specifically requested an HPV screening. So not only was my Pap here traumatic, it was for nothing. If I have to drive an hour for an in network gyno with some common decency, I will do it. I hope never to return here.

I have had excellent experiences with this practice over the last 5 years, including regular Gyn care, pregnancy, delivery, postpartum care (including at least one mastitis visit), and even a pregnancy loss. The care was good a few years ago but with the addition of the new midwives is now 5 star. Every caretaker has reviewed my file and knows my story and the staff is always so kind. Great practice for a woman seeking a variety of birth options (i.e. I delivered at 41 weeks + 3 days with almost no medical intervention despite a 32 hr labor, per my preferences) but medically sound and competent care. The midwives in particular are excellent, but the doctors are great too.

As a women who didnt plan on having any children I was beyond petrified when I found out that my birth control failed and I was pregnant. Not only was I pregnant but I was sick constantly during my entire pregnancy. During the last trimester I had preeclampsia and had appointments every Monday and Thursday to do ultrasounds to ensure my baby girl was healthy. At this point I felt like I become family with the staff since I was there 2 times a week. Joanne and Rita were always smiling when I came in. My insurance only covered a percentage of the ultrasound so I had to pay $135 twice a week out of pocket which was impossible since I was on bed rest and could not work. I expressed my concerns with midwives Kia and Valerie and let them know that financially I could not afford to do what the doctors were recommending. To make a long story short the doctors and staff have weekly meetings and during the meeting after speaking with Valeria and Kia they decided that they would waive the remainder of my ultrasound fees and do the services pro bono as they would like to ensure that I had a healthy and safe delivery. I remember crying in the office that day as I never received such an amazing gift from a group of strangers. After having Madison I was in the hospital for five days. Every single day, including the day that I delivered my daughter someone from the staff came to visit me and check on me. A couple weeks after having my daughter I went for a follow up and all of the nurses were upset with me because I did not bring my baby so they could meet them. Writing this on behalf of my wife. She likes her doctor, but had a very frustrating experience with the office staff trying to get prescriptions sorted out when her insurance provider changed rules. They sent info to incorrect pharmacies... twice. One of them was a pharmacy we had never even given them. Told us the provider wouldnt cover the drug when all they needed was 90 day supply instead of 30. Had an unnecessary office visit when a call-in should have worked. All in all, getting her BCP sent to a new pharmacy took two weeks of wrestling when it should have taken less than a day.Doctors: you lost a customer because your support staff let you down.

I would recommend them to anyone that is looking for a obgyn.the first time I went i thought I was pregnant even though I had a IUD.i got a ultrasound to see if it was still in place and it was.so she asked if I ever had a mammogram i got a referral for that and a colonoscopy and then second time I went I got a biopsy and I got my IUD removed and another put in. If youre pregnant or just having female issues I personally recommend them..

Atlanta Gynecology and Obstacles was referred to me by a co-worker over 20 years ago I needed a second opinion on Fibroids because I was being told by my male obgyn that a historectomy was the only solution then I met Dr. Julie Schneider who educated me on the different procedures that were available 5 years later Dr. Schneider went into another field of medicine and relocated out of state still impressed with the care I received I chose to stay with the practice and chose Dr. Mandeville who is my current favorite Dr.shesawesome and excellent at her field of work. Love her.

Don’t waste your time. Staff is awful, unhelpful, rude. I called to make an appointment at 9 weeks. They decided not to take me at all because by the time I got in contact with someone (oh wow like this is my fault!!) it had been 2 weeks and past their idiotic office policy of not accepting past 12 weeks.

Im very sad annoyed frustrated. I had my delivery with them which was excellent the midwife. But the treatment of some is very bad, they are very rude, but some are the best on the planet. My reason why I am so upset is that since I arrived, I said that I wanted to do my sterilization. I have the medicaid and they have me to sign a document nobody tool me or give me the document and now I cant because I have to pay full price. The only thing I received was an im sorry. Dont commit the same mistake I have. (Sorry my english is bad)Im very sad, upset, frustrated. I had my birth with them and the midwife was excellent. But the treatment of some is terrible, they are very rude, but some are the best on the planet. My reason why I am so upset is that since I arrived I said that I wanted to have my sterilization done. I have Medicaid and when I went to my postpartum appointment the midwife told me that because of a mistake on their part they couldnt sterilize me because I had to sign a document 30 days before and they never told me anything. I lost it, they are irresponsible and I should never have stayed in this office. I regret it and you dont know how much.
