Wayne Health - Detroit Public Health STD Clinic

Was referred here by my Doctor. I stopped by last Friday and it was a sign on the door stating closed Thursday with no other information on the voicemail. Security guard was able to tell me they were closed and opened back up Monday. I stop in Tuesday today 7-16-24 I arrive at 8:45 and the young lady at the desk states they are done for the day taking walk ins and when I ask where else I can , she states that she doesnt know (why not provide other resources and state that it is a first come first serve basis. As a member of the Healthcare community I was distraught and disturbed. A gentleman came from the back and stop me and provide other places I could go from help. As someone seeking help in a situation that is emergent and this is where scheduling at wayne health told me I could go, he was a breath of fresh air. So to whomever you are sir thank you for being my saving grace. Wayne Health needs to update their site and get someone more friendly at the front desk besides the young lady with the red hair and the unpolished uniform.

A very friendly and joyful team of providers. I always feel that staff really make the time for sincere communication and knowledgeable counseling, and Margaret made my day with all her positivity. Glad to have them so nearby.

Every time I come here their turning me away no matter the time I was turned away 3 times waited to get test because I had no Insurance or extra money to pay a copay go to them after be turned away the first two times to be turned away again

Dont worry about the negative reviews (most of them are older anyway) All of the staff were very kind and sweet. If you plan to walk in, get there early because they might hit capacity later on and just understand that you will have a wait just because of the nature of a clinic that allows walk-ins. Its still better than waiting for the next appointment at planned parenthood a week out when you want to be seen for symptoms urgently.

Everyone here is so welcoming . I have been coming here for a few years now . Very professional & clean . I love the office & the environment & the welcoming energy from the staff . I recommend this place to everyone!

After reading all the reviews about rude and unprofessional staff, I expected to experience that but every staff member I interacted with was kind and professional.The wait is long! I came in around 10:45a and was told to come back in the afternoon around 12 to be seen at 1p. I did that and was seen by 1:30p. So if you are in a rush be mindful that you will need to wait a while. Other than that, I was in and out. The staff was very knowledgeable and supportive.I just wish they had a digital system because I found myself filling out the same info on pretty much every form.

Do not come here unless you absolutely you absolutely have to. If you do have to be prepared for an awful experience. Don’t desk workers are unprofessional, & don’t conduct business with service excellence. No matter your situation, they don’t respect your time. I was told I had to come in order to get a refill on a prescription even after expressing transportation issues. Needless to say, I found a ride & made my way down there by 8:30 AM (30 mins after opening), for them to tell me, they were full & I could not be seen, and I could try again at 12 noon (3+ hrs later)or tomorrow. Hearing that was an inconvenience, and absolutely frustrating because I’m suffering from symptoms which they already know, and supposedly need to be seen for a refill for medication I’ve been taking for 2 years! No vacancy for the day, or suggestions on how to get seen could’ve been expressed when I called over the phone. As I headed home, I called the office back 3 times to schedule an appointment! 2 times no answer! And I was just there in person! They will also send you to a voicemail system that’s full 24/7! I had to choose a different selection on the phone that didn’t even apply to me, to try to speak to someone regarding scheduling an appointment for them to tell me, “ you haven’t been here in a while, you have to come in as a walk in.” I’m so over this place. If you’re uninsured just apply for some Medicaid and go anywhere else but here. They don’t respect people.

I know there are bad reviews, but luckily that was not my experience here and honestly this place was really great. I’m uninsured and was pretty desperate to get an STI panel and consult. I walked in around 2 pm on a Wednesday and waited maybe 15-20min to be seen (pretty standard in my experience). I was quickly seen by the doctor and the staff was super kind and understanding. I was able to be treated right there and administered antibiotics same day from the clinic, took less than an hour and a half. I would recommend this place for anyone in a similar position!

I waited in the waiting room for two hours. People who got there after me were called in before me, almost positive they did not have appointments because I could hear their conversation at the front desk check in. Whoever is managing or owner of this facility needs to hire in more staff because it was absolutely ridiculous, I ended up leaving because I had to work and do not have the time to spend 4 hours waiting for a simple STD testing. I do not recommend. Wayne State University should provide better.

Got here at 8:30am. I was the first person to be seen. I get here and was told everyone is in a meeting until 9am. How do you have a meeting after you are already open for business! Its now 10:20 and Im sitting in a room still waiting to be seen! I will NEVER come back here.

There very nice people and the doctors are very nice and they really concern about your health concern I really like Dr Heisler

I know many people had bad experience here, I visited Friday and there were 2 staff and they were friendly to me although I can see and hear one staff yawning and expressing her tiredness. I waited only 30 minutes and was seen by a very nice professional doctor, she was amazing!

I don’t know why this place has so much hate in the reviews. They are seriously the nicest clinic i’ve ever been too. Cindy & Brianna are so sweet and helpful and Demitirius is the best! I recommend them to everyone. I wish they could take more patients!!

Call the day before she told me to come in the next day before 1pm. I got there at 10am the lady at the desk to me they stop seeing people and that I had to wait 2 and a half hours to be seen. Im like WHAT? I just talk to somebody the day before. This place need to be look into. The people that work there make the company look bad. And I got full coverage smh

I’m unemployed and uninsured and I was in need of a std test! Everyone was very professional and the visit went well, however the issue I have is it’s been two weeks and I haven’t received my results!! I was told it would take 7 days to receive the results!! I’ve tried calling numerous times and I’m still waiting for results!! I recommend going to another clinic for std testing! This is ridiculous!!

Unprofessional conduct and liars...long wait on the telephones and very rude staff on the medical Ob/GYN side. I had obtained a postcard and I went there to receive medical care as I shared this data with my former alumni, WSU, that I had bad experience at Providence Hopsital, and that I did not have a cell phone because it was compromised, the staff was laughing, called the police on me and had the police lock me up then I was informed that someone had stole my identity and had even voted as me and fraudulently married me, however, I did not benefit from any of the law suits, not housing, nor disability benefits....even when they were working with my creditals. I did not get any help from the DHS, Neighborhood Services, Meyers housing dept, CAM, CHS, Churches, nor the KMG.Ms. Biles

I understand services can range from free to minimum based on your ability to pay! I also understand its a walk in clinic. What dont understand why I cant my test results and treatment in a timely manner. I have called continuously and still no response. How could this process be effective in stopping diseases?

Every time Ive come here, it takes about an hour from the time I check in to the time I get tested, even though it doesnt seem like there arent many patients. Furthermore, they stopped the service where you can call to get your results, and you have to come in in person. The last time I was here, I was put into the patient room from the waiting room, and had to wait an additional 30+ minutes for someone to come and tell me the results. Shouldnt it be simple to just look up what my test results were and tell me what it was???

Very unprofessional, both the website and phone electronic message advertises walk ins being welcome, but they are only available at 8am or 1pm. Don’t waste a trip here without making an appointment. Probably better off going elsewhere.

This is the absolute worst place ever! How do you advertise to do walk in STD testing from 8am-4pm but then when the person comes in for the walk in, you tell them you have distinct hours 8am-10am and 12-1 that you do the testing???!!!! Don’t advertise that you are a walk in clinic! Change your voice mail too! To the public: do not give them your business because they are untrustworthy and unreliable! Really sad!!!

My second time getting off work early on a Wednesday because this is the one day they are open late, and second time I was told they closed at 2pm because they have no doctors WTH how are ppl who work supposed to get tested if u Take the last appt an hour b4 yall close and then yall close Early on the one day yall supposed to be open late? This place is a joke now its been two weeks I have to find somewhere else I strongly dont recommend this testing center and they seem to not care not even a little bit.

Wish I could have gave zero stars. DO NOT GO HERE. You can find a better place to go to. You will wait forever and they won’t give you or your ride a doctors note for work. I got fired from my job. The ladies at the front desk are absolutely rude and it’s appalling.

I did not like the process of how checking for diseases is gone about. I mean not only didthe lady try to literally cut my wind pipe off in my throat but she tried to get me to swallow a horse pill when i repeatedly told i have a problem with swallowing pills. Very disappointed and for my annual check up I will not dare come here. ✌

Not enough workers claim they do walk ins got there at 840 am and was turned away because they only had 1 physician DO NOT COME HERE you would be better off at the emergency room

I like this place. Very convenient but when I call back for my results its very difficult to get a hold of someone. I calling for weeks. Even left messages for the manager. No response

Went with my friend to go get tested they usually call you by your birthday the lady called me by my whole name and let everybody know who I was well I go back sure yes my friend check the lady behind the counter and told her please do not use her full name or information besides that not too bad...thank you!!!

On the website it says they dont close till 6:30 pm,however when i arrived at 4:50 pm i was told they were no longer accepting patients...really? smh...i will never come here again

Most unprofessional office ive ever entered... Staff is ghetto and loud and dont follow procedure. Horrible state should be doinf some sort of riveiw..

We definitely need a clinic like this in the community, they just need faster service and a bit of organization but its a great place!

3rd time here this year because Im very cautious. Easy process, great staff, and its free.

The staff is rude and ghetto and the staff is older women that should know better . Its sad how people act .
