This will be my second surgery for a sling this year with Dr. Hunter. Follow up in the recovery room at the surgery center was terrible. Dr Hunter and staff would not answer the nurses calls or mine for almost 12 hours. Dr did not check on me after surgery to even see if things went well. Tried to get a list of restrictions from the staff for the last 4 weeks, my surgery is in 2 days and I was told it has been sitting there, after I have left multiple messages, and that I could drive to them to pick it up. Why wouldnt yougive those before surgery. Hopefully this works or I will have to go to another doctor again.

Everyone at this clinic goes out of their way to make you feel comfortable! From setting up my appt with sweet Lucia and calling back with a question she was so nice. Dr. Hunter was wonderful! She put me at ease right away and totally understood my issues and assured me she can take care of them! Cora was wonderful setting up my surgery and all that I need to take care of prior. She felt like a friend I have always known and made me feel so taken care of! This office is an example of what every doctor’s office should aspire to be!

This is the most incredible place. They are so patient centered and caring. I was given such hope after my first appointment. After my surgery I feel like a new person. My life has been improved immensely. I only wish I had done it sooner. Dr. Buttrick is a Godsend. I will recommend him over and over again.

When I first called to set appointment with Dr. Buttrick, they just said he was no longer there and they wouldnt tell me where he went. After a period of time, I inquired a second time, where he had went to and they replied, he retired. I then after more searching I found that he was at Urogynocolgy of Kansas City. Hopefully this will help another previous patient of Dr. Buttericks to locate him and save them a lot of time.

I am always well greeted by Mary Joy. The medical assistant is welcoming and professional. I did not have to wait long to see Dr. Butrick. He has been a great help to me and has educated me on how to take care of myself. The surgery I had was pretty much painless! A nice surprise.

I saw Dr. Butrick twice. He was abrasive on my first visit. When I mentioned something traumatic had happened to me, he asked when in my life, and I said it was in adulthood. He dismissed it as unimportant because it didn’t happen in childhood. When I had concerns about low dose muscle relaxers for pain making me unsafe to drive he simply told me that lots of patients took the same dose with no problems. As though different bodies don’t respond differently to medications…the cherry on top is that I was slapped with a large bill for testing, but at no point beforehand was I informed that they do not accept payment plans, so I had to max out a credit card. I would never recommend this doctor or office to anyone.

First visit was last week with Dr. Hunter. Really love her, she has a very calm but confident presence, is welcoming, laughs (important to me) and respectfully listens. I had already heard great things about her and her skills before I went; nothing about her demeanor diminished that. But before I got to Dr. Hunter I had interacted on the phone with her scheduler Helen, then with the lady at the front desk and then her assistant. All were genuine, welcoming, knowledgeable, and caring. Its a bit of a maze going back into the office park area where her office is located; but its lovely that you can park right in front and then just walk straight into a one level building. Much more intimate feeling than some of the other places Ive had appointments. Obviously its early in my relationship but I feel confident that this was a good choice.

Dr Hunter is the most detached and unprofessional “surgeon” of whom’s care I have had the misfortune of needing. She sized me up with one glance, was cold as ice and has the bedside manner of Jeffrey Dahmer. I believe that she would have made a much better medical examiner, as she loves to hear herself talk, draw her own conclusions without concurrence and cannot stand her patients . After surgery, I never heard another peep. She didn’t call to check, refused to answer phone calls on concerns. Two weeks later I am in the hospital for over a week with a completely incontinent bladder and she will not return calls to health care workers here. She believes herself to be a demigod, if not an actual god. Whatever positive you have heard about her is from people, she knows trying to hype her up. She has physically damaged me, possibly for life and has zero sympathy or remorse.

I was on edge entering my appointment, as I have seen too many doctors, claiming to be pelvic pain specialists (24< years worth) 1st visit-I was required to do lots of shuffling around:after registering-call back-check vitalsin room(w/nurse)-go into the doctors office-then back into room(examine w/Dr & nurse)-to RR-back to room-back into dr office-and lastly back to room for discharge instructions.I was confused during all that but I thought it was really cute-that the nurse came in so sweetly and w/a toilet tent bag for test@home. Her way of describing “MY TAKE HOME PRIZE.”- was the only thing that helped me not feel so nervous.”The doctor: Dr Butrick kind of rubbed me the wrong way for first portion of our visit. The way he asked his questions & seemly being rude (like he wasn’t listening or didn’t believe me, wasn’t interested or caring-lacking compassion) as he kept cutting me off in my explanation to some answers. (as most chronic disease/pain patients are conditioned to feel we have to be super transparent, extra explain everything & listen to critically protect ourselves.) I was really considering walking out “when my PRIZE” was brought to me. After I calmed down & completed all of the back n forth; I was HUMBLED & PLEASANTLY SURPRISED to see I WAS WRONG. My spidey senses were completely off. GRATEFULLY, DR. BUTRICK was sorting & piecing together the past, present & medical misdirection & all the hidden; to properly calculate treatment options & plans for ME-NOT strictly from literature, case studies most cost & poplar trends. He WAS LISTENING/WATCHING/THINKING/EXAMINING CRITICALLY for ME.I was wrong & because I changed my mind deciding to show this “Assumingly Pompous Specialist” some grace & pray for both him & me. Dr. Butrick was then allowed an honest opportunity to change my life. He not only came up with options for my treatment, he discussed every detail with me. Why I have ever experienced what I have with this 24+year battle PP. The diagnosis, test, meds, surgeries, treatments, therapies & why/not they worked along with links to other life long illness. Dr. Butrick, himself was professional yet, so humble, patient, not rushing. He extremely knowledgeable & responsible with me. His telling me he deals with his lane, but willing to work with my other doctors but compassionately & clearly explains what he’s able to do was fair but not discounting. And he did not forget to ask me “What was I comfortable with-my expectations-my thoughts & helping me to understand what I have to do to get the results I’m looking for. And together we mapped out our plan...The Front Desk LadEs were super sweet & friendly. The place was clean & inviting. The other staff I encountered was extremely nice, helpful & attentive and I was the last patient there for a while. They could’ve left my case open to visit whenever but they did their best securing everything by the next morning. The only negative the appointment DATE availability. I waited about 2 months to get in. it’s been a journey waiting for that appointment & being in so much pain. Unfortunately I’m waiting another month for my follow up. My understanding is that one Doctor retired & no replacement yet.Hopefully this will improve. I guess I’ll have a few chances to figure this out, considering Im have a great plan for repair treatment. I’m completely hopeful of our plans. I’m confident in The entire Urogynocology Center Team. Definitely in ling Dr. Butrick...

Look....as women. having pelvic floor issues is extremely personal, embarrassing, and just so difficult to deal with. Its never any fun. Dr. Butrick came highly recommended to me years ago. Hes just simply one of the best there is, period. When my surgery needed to be redone, they had added Dr. Hunter to the staff. Her demeaner and approach is different, bedside manner, etc. Once again, I cannot stress enough how personal this issue is, and yet Dr. Hunter cared enough, and showed so much compassion. She understood that I did not want this to ever fail by my doing, and she understood. Dr. Butrick chose well with her! Shes absolutely amazing. In my opinion, she goes above and beyond caring. Both doctors are great! There are lots of choices in this city for Pelvic Floor care. Knowing that. you cant go wrong here.

Dr. B. & his staff are TRULY AMAZING AND HEAVEN SENT! He is very KNOWLEDGEABLE about female anatomy. He readily identified the issue and scheduled surgery, pre op visit, all post op visits. Surgical rationale was explained in thorough manner very professional and able to relate and understand. He treats you like a PERSON NOT AN INSURANCE PAYMENT!! I understand why it is tedious to get an appointment with him. He is in HIGH DEMAND!! Phenomenal bedside manner. He talks to you and family, not at you. He sits and LISTENS, then answers question in a comfortable, teach back method so he KNOWS you fully understand everything. Truly a blessing from the Lord!. I wouldn’t trust anyone else to do my surgery. His reputation and reviews proceed him. He and office staff get 10 out of 5 stars.(Yes I know how to do math and ratings. I have a MBA Degree)

Ive been seeing Dr. Butrick for several years. Probably about 8 years. He helped me with unresolved pelvic pain several years ago. Since then, my maintenance routine involves using a prescription med that helps with my pain. This year he expanded and added another physician and the office emphasis has changed from honest patient care to making as much money as they can. I scheduled my yearly appointment for a, medication review. Thats what the staff referred to the appointment as when I set it up. Dr. Butrick met with me for less than 10 min. There was no examination. Just a quick in and out to authorize my medication for another year. Imagine my shock when I received a bill for $171 (reduced from $204), that was my responsibility to pay. I have health insurance. He had submitted the bill to my health insurance and coded it as a long visit. When I tried to appeal it with my United Health Care insurance company citing that the appointment was a simple prescription renewal they stood behind their billing. UHC agreed that the charge was outrageous for a medication review appointment that lasted less than 10 minutes, but it was my word against theirs. In my estimation Dr. Butrick and the Urogynecology Center were both dishonest and greedy. I might consider seeing him again once I qualify for a Medicare plan but the experience has caused me to lose confidence in the office. Luckily my general practitioner who bills fairly, told me hed be happy to manage my medication renewals when I explained the situation to him.UPDATE 8/31: Since the office asked me to reach out (apparently a phony act of sympathy), I did. I called them 6 days ago and was promised by the Office Manager they would investigate this issue and call me back promptly. They never called me back. Being treated this way only confirms my worst fears that Dr. Butricks UroGynecology Center is now more focused on money than on honesty and patient care.

Very mixed feelings, the doctor was great at my first appointment. However my second appointment was a Telehealth and it was difficult to reach anybody. No one answered the phone I waited for my Telehealth appointment and scheduled it during my lunch she didn’t call me until 4:30 pm (apt was at 1:30) I kept thinking any minute she was going to call so I kept getting coworkers to cover for me and really it was very rude to be so late and disrupt my day with such little respect for my time.Knowledgeable provider horrible front office staff at answering and returning calls. Will be finding a new provider most likely.

Dr. Butrick and his staff are concerned about you as the patient instead of dollar signs and quotas. Dr Butrick listens attentively to you and seeks a solution to your problems unlike most of my other doctors who can’t be bothered. He comes in and sits down and gives you his attention. He also looks you in the eye when he is talking to you and answers your question till you understand what he is saying. He’s a great guy.

I had problems with incontinence after having two children. I had one mesh implant failure (a defect in the mesh) and was them referred to Dr Butrick. He almost immediately diagnosed me with interstitial cystitis. I hadn’t had any symptoms but he’d done a bladder scope and assured me that was causing me issues. He proceeded to recommend a new mesh for my incontinence. When I woke up after surgery I was having the WORST burning pain. Guess what, I started having IC problems from that point. I have since been to other specialists who told me my urethra is so horribly scared now. So my theory is he GAVE me (or tried to at least) IC so that I would want to keep going to him for treatment. DO NOT TRUST HIM - he is a liar and horrible physician who needs to have his license pulled.

I saw Charles Butrick after previously seeing 2 telehealth specialists and my GP. I was on month 2 of extreme typical UTI symptoms, but my last culture with my GP a month prior showed nothing. Charles did not test my urine at all (a urologist not testing urine?!) and instead told me I had Interstitial Cystitis and sent me home with a packet on pelvic floor exercises and bladder numbing meds. I am so happy I looked for another opinion because I do, in fact, have a raging infection with high levels of 3 bacteria including the typical E. Coli. Can you imagine if I had accepted his diagnosis? I am now on antibiotics and seeing Dr. Hertzig at Kansas City Urology Care PA. Ill give 2 stars because his nurse was super sweet!

I have had urinary urgency and frequency issues for at least 15 years. I had seen Urologist and urogynecologist with no relief . i thought Id just have to live with it. Then i movedto kansas city and found Dr. Butrick. His extensive in office diagnostic process turned up two issues....frequency and Interstitial Cystitis. He prescribed a 4 part regimen of pelvic floor massage from a physical therapist a prescription to help frequent night urination and bladder cocktails administeredby aFemale nurse practitioner.6 weeks later, I am back to what I had forgotten normal is.I recommend Dr Butrick without reservation. I am singing his praises to all my midlife friends with similar issues.

Sure wish Google had a ZERO STAR OPTION for this terrible urogynecologist!!!! He tried to diagnose me without doing a single urological test. Had me fill out a 10 question “quiz” about my symptoms & from there he gave me a diagnosis. No matter what your diagnosis, his treatment plan is the same. He loves to prescribe roughly 8 oral meds that he says you must take at the same time in order to get any benefit. Usually a doctor would put a patient on one medication at a time and then add in another one stepwise, otherwise how do you know which medication is helping. Additionally he does bladder cocktails after he gives you a diagnosis of Interstitial Cystitis without doing a cystoscopy, the gold standard for diagnosing most bladder issues. I’m on a FB group for women who have overactive bladder and everyone has the same story about him. TERRIBLE bedside manner. Demeaning to women. Unprofessional office staff. Completely disorganized. I faxed my medical records to them twice & received confirmation they went through. I followed up with a call & was told they hadn’t had time to go through the piles of faxes they’d received over the past week. I hope you’ll never go to this egomaniacal quack, but if you do make sure you hand-deliver your medical records otherwise I doubt he will get them. Unfortunately there are only a handful of urogynecologists in the KC area. I highly recommend you try any of the others!!
