Planned Parenthood - Memphis Health Center near Summer and I240

Absolutely awful experience, do not go here if you have other available options. I went to get my Nexplanon removed and reinserted. Before my nurse came into the room she was talking to a coworker in a very condescending way because she did not want to deal with changing my birth control and I should just leave it because “it lasts five years”. Everything online recommends getting it replaced after 3, but she just simply did not want to do her job and I should have left after I heard her attitude towards the situation. During the procedure the only thing I was told is when she was putting the lidocaine shot in, everything else I had no walk-thru for. I was not numbed properly and I could feel everything, as the lidocaine shot squirted all over my arm and I’m convinced none of it actually got in my arm. It was a very painful and very traumatic experience. On top of this, 24 hours later I remove my bandage as instructed and see that the steri-strips that are placed on the open wound and are meant for the replacement of stitches, were not put on. So a day later, I’m at the doctor because I have an open wound that was only covered with 1 bandaid. The nurses name is B. Woods. Please take my advice and avoid this nurse and establishment at all costs!

Best experience I’ve had in a Planned Parenthood. Thank you so much to the staff for being kind, incredibly helpful, and supportive. You are all so appreciated. I highly recommend this practice. The staff spent plenty of time with me and didn’t rush me out despite it being. The end of a long and busy day.

Set up an appointment for 3:30PM for a nexplanon removal. When I arrived I waited possibly 10 minutes maybe not even that. Front desk ladies were sweet, got all my paperwork filled out that was needed and sent me on to the back. Once in the back, it wasn’t long til I got called back for my vitals- The lady who did them was super sweet and talked to her patients with respect. Gave me all the information needed on side effects that I should aware of once the implant was removed. The doctor came in, also very sweet & patient, gave me the run down again.. asked if i was allergic to anything & went to work. Didn’t even take her five whole minutes to get my implant out and that’s WITH it being deeper than normal due to weight gains. Place looked very clean. 10/10.

The front desk ladies are very nice and discreet. The doctor I saw was respectful & pleasant. However the nurse that took my blood, asked questions & prepared me for the doctor had bad bedside manners, she was impatient, insensitive and borderline argumentative with me despite me being very polite. I won’t be returning simply because she made me very uncomfortable. I didn’t have any issues with her drawing blood, she offered for me to lay down because I had told her I have anxiety regarding blood work, which was nice of her. But next time I will wait however long I have to to see my normal OBGYN because their nurses are much more friendly and going to a sexual wellness clinic is uncomfortable enough as it is.

Absolutely terrible and you will leave bleeding. Im serious. The doctor was rough and gave no warning or walk through of what she was doing. I DO NOT suggest this place to anyone.

Amazing service at my appointment yesterday! I loved it. Very clean, nice and professional staff. Everyone was so caring and patient with me. Absolutely loved seeing the NP Edna. She was amazing and listened to every last thing I had to say. 10/10 Perfect ! Thank you guys so much!

My appointment at this location went fine but followup and communication are lacking. I have been waiting for over a week and a half trying to get someone to call me back regarding a birth control prescription. In Oregon Planned Parenthood communicated clearly with me and offered Telehealth visits. This location seems to try to communicate as little as possible.

Went in TERRIFIED to have my implant removed. There was no wait. The front desk lady was super helpful, my nurse was so polite & the doctor was the best one! She was just amazing. This was my second implant, so I knew the numbing would hurt & she even made that minimal. 10/10 recommend!

They cancelled my appointment without ever speaking to me nor saying why they cancelled. Very unprofessional. I did not get a call or anything stating why nor have i even spoke with them over the phone. Booked an online appointment that was accepted and nothing was said!

I was at the clinic on March 31st and I was super well attended, the girl at the reception was very kind and attentive, the nurse was very patient and understanding and Dr. Edna very careful and delicate. I dont know about the other days, but the team that took care of me was excellent.

I called my pharmacy to request a refill on my birth control pill, and they told me that my prescription expired months ago. Im on a three month pill cycle, so it must have expired shortly after I picked up my last pack. I would have just gone up there, but I had to have a covid test earlier this week, because I was showing symptoms. The minor med told me to self quarantine until the results come in just in case it may be positive. So, I called Planned Parenthood to see if there was any way they could call in a prescription. They told me no. I explained the situation with my covid test, and they said I cant get a refill unless I come in. I told them I would call around and see if one of my other providers could call it in, because I dont want to come in and potentially put people at risk. She said no, we dont want you to come in and wait if you might have covid, either.. Then why cant you just call in one refill under these circumstances? Ridiculous. Ive been coming to planned parenthood for years, because I want to support this organization, but this is just stupid.

I went in after reading the reviews and still decided to give them a chance . I came in and the medical assistant because she couldnt have been a nurse shoved a paper in my face and asked me to have a seat I refused and ask could she see if my insurance qualify and in her words she said we dont do that . 😂😂😂😂😂I wanted to say well what do you do because clearly you seem to be unprofessional and under qualified for the job youve been assigned to. Sad to say I didnt get anything done due to such sad treatment I received. Im from L.A. as in Los Angeles and Ive never experienced such a disgusting form of work ethic even in the most crime stricken areas of South Central Los Angeles . If you dont want to do your job quit and give sometime who ACTUALLY WANTS TO WORK a chance. I see why they want to close these types of facilities the staff is worse than the diseases theyre supposed to eradicating 😂😂😂😂 . I wouldnt recommend this place to the devils daughter herself.

I have always had a great experience at this location. Friendly staff. Quick visits and very little wait time. I go to get my BC pills 3 at a time and have never had a problem except when the location was out of my BC brand and I had to travel to the poplar location.

HORRIBLE SERVICE! My implant was put in WRONG and was causing me pain for almost 6 months! Then when I went to get it removed the took over an hour! Just to have it removed. I had an appointment and no one else was in the waiting area with me.

Make sure you ask about insurance off top! I went there and the lady at the front desk told me to sign in and have a seat. She called me back up literally an hour later! She look at my insurance and said “I’m sorry, we don’t take this insurance.” It was pretty frustrating and a waste of time they should definitely have a sign up about the insurances that take or don’t take. Just a heads!

They refused to see me because I had no one to watch my INFANT SON eventhough on their website it states ONLY AN INFANT CAN ACCOMPANY YOU TO THE EXAM ROOM. Then they asked me to come back the next day. I refused to come back and will never be back. I was just trying to get birth control pills.

My appointment was at 8 am this morning, got in the parking lot at 7:45. They’re supposed to be opened at 8 am on Fridays or 10 minutes before an appointment is scheduled. I went the the door 3 times and it’s still locked. Been sitting outside for almost an hour.

Drove 2 hours to PP and was told that I had to be on my period to get an IUD inserted. If the doctor was well trained, I would not have to be on my period for the insertion.

So professional and respectful, and all of the doctors are highly qualified. I have been to both Memphis locations for years, and I cannot say enough good things about PP.

I Came to get business handled at 9 am sharp they turned me back to have hard copy of identification, I arrive again at 10 in excruciating pain and been waiting in pain two hours with no one ahead of me staff isn’t the best and act like they don’t wanna be at work please never come here save yourself time and energy and get treated elsewhere I wouldn’t wish this treatment on my worst enemy

It took a little longer than I had hoped but everyone was really nice and made it a pleasant experience.

Its a very clean, welcoming place to get your health work done. If they could do sterilizations, Id be the only place Id go.

Front desk lady was no help. Im not working and no assistance or sliding scale was offered. I had to drive an hour to get there and was a total waste of time and money.

NICE AND CLEAN STAFF IS FRIENDLY AND OPEN MINDED ABOUT THE LIFE STRUGGLES AND PROBLEMS THA MAY OCCUR. THANKS FOR THE SUPPORT 😏
